The ribbon whipped back towards Star as Bran jumped over it, folding in on itself and disappearing into motes of light that surrounded her. Her eyes widened as Bran closed in on her, and she jumped back, quickly manipulating the illusion around her and increasing the illusion's intensity. Bran drew his bare fist back, the attack passing straight through the illusory Star, but his bloody fist moved quickly, connecting with Star's chest before she even fully realized what was happening.

Star's mouth fell open as all of the air left her lungs, the illusion around her shattering as she was thrown back by the force of the blow. Star landed on the ground, rolling over onto her stomach and gritting her teeth. She moved her arms so that they were under her and pushed up. Her arms trembled, trying to summon the strength to push her back to her feet. The photomancer stared up at Bran, gasping for breath. She knew that she was vulnerable in this position.

Star closed her eyes and grunted with effort as she pushed herself off the ground, her image suddenly fracturing into eight different pieces as a collection of eight afterimages swarmed around her. She clenched her fists, taking in shallow breaths as she rose, several blunt orbs forming in the air around her and heading towards Bran.

It would be difficult for Bran to target the real Star among the swarm of images, but if he was observant enough, he might notice something that would make it easier. Perhaps it was Star's exhaustion, her forgetfulness or perhaps it was simply her own lack of skill, but only one of the different images had a cut on her cheek. The question was, would Bran pick up on it?

Bran couldnt feel any impact on his fist but felt the tension of his blood as Star was sent arching backward and back down. He had made his gambit and it had worked. He panted a little, his body hunched over as the blood reformed a claw on his hand, however, unlike before, its integrity wasnt completely solid and blood slowly dripped off it towards the ground.

He was still experienced with his new power and it was taking its toll on his body as it raced to keep up with his blood loss. He could simply focus on keeping it inside his body, but that would weary him faster and he just wanted to win at this point. However, as she jumped at him, he was not able to focus hard enough to be able to see the difference in the illusions.

Bran grunted as he summoned his large blade into existence the blood swarming onto it making it even larger. He didn't need to worry about hitting the right one, if he simply attacked all of them. He swiped with his large blade at all the images in a wipe arc, the blood leaving a sharp trail behind as it swiped, and the orbs colliding with Bran as he forced himself to complete the attack before being knocked back.

Star watched as Bran rushed towards her, leaning forward slightly and breathing heavily. The claw on his arm seemed different than before--not quite as solid. If she were to guess, she would say that using this power was to him what tapping into her elemental side was to her--momentarily powerful, but physically and mentally draining. She wasn't much better off. Unlike Bran, Star wasn't used to taking hits, and the creative uses of photomancy she had resorted to were beginning to take its toll on her.

It looked like the fight would be over soon, one way or another.

Star grit her teeth as Bran raised the blade into the air. It looked like he hadn't seen through her illusion, but that didn't matter, because he would simply attack all the faded images anyway. She stumbled back as her orbs struck Bran, letting out a gasp of pain as she felt the blade strike her. Star landed sloppily on her feet, quickly dropping down to one knee and placing a hand on her side, her eyes wide. Blood dripped between her fingers, not all of it hers, and in one semi-lucid moment, she realized that that was probably several levels of unsanitary.

The claw had opened a gash across Star's side, not deep enough to be serious, but deep enough to warrant medical attention at some point, and to restrict her movement. Star leaned forward and clenched the fist that still lay beneath her light blade, trying to get back up. She hissed in pain and fell back onto her knee, staring across at Bran. After getting hit by those orbs while in that condition, he probably wasn't doing so well either.

Her breathing was audible in her ear, shallow pants that tried not to aggravate the wound further. Star didn't attempt to force herself to her feet again, instead waiting in that position to see what Bran would do, whether or not he still wanted to continue the fight.

As Bran opened his eyes, it was very noticeable how much everything of his body hurt. He slowly started to focus again. Regardless of how Star was doing at this point, he needed to stop his blood loss or he surely would need help, hemorrhaging was not an appealing use of his time. He coughed and felt the hilt of his blade still in his hand, Even as everything hurt he struggled to his feet, his blade stabbed into the ground, leaning against it for support.

He was covered in bruises, and several parts of his body were ominously emanating a dark aura as he kept his blood confined to his insides. He stared across the field to look at Star, his vision blurry. He saw that his attack hit, blood marked the area where she stood and she was holding her waist tightly. She was just holding herself together, as he himself currently was.

She had done remarkably well for someone who wasnt abundantly physically strong. He forced himself to stand up straight audibly groaning in pain as he did so, But put his hilt on the blade. He couldnt likely run anymore but he could defend where he stood.

Star hissed through her teeth as pain stopped her from getting to her feet again, her eyes fixed on Bran. She closed them and took a deep breath, exhaling slowly. Light flooded the space between her fingertips, solid light pressing up against the wound and acting as a sort of bandage as she slowly withdrew her hand. Star took a deep breath to prepare herself mentally and struggled to her feet, grunting in pain as she finally made it.

The photomancer faced Bran across the field, an aura of light curling and twisting around her in a way that mirrored Bran's. In fact, it had been him that had given her the idea. Star was unsteady on her feet and wasn't sure how long she could keep this up, but then again, Bran looked to be about the same way.

The fight would end soon, whether it came down to judging or just one last attack.

Star raised her left arm and held her light blade up in front of herself like Bran was doing, watching him over the edge of the blade. She didn't know if she could move either, but if he was still going to continue, then she wasn't just going to lie down and quit.

"One last move?" she asked, breathing heavily.

Bran winced and then nodded smiling "One last move, for all the marbles" He said this as he continued to focus on keeping the blood inside him, well, inside him. He put both hands on his blade's hilt and with a little effort picked the large sword up and slung it over his shoulder.

Gathering all the strength he had left he ran at Star as she did him, swinging his blade with both hands.

Star ran towards Bran, gathering up the last of her strength as she lifted her blade, the blade's edge beginning to vibrate at a high speed and increasing its cutting power as she slashed the vibrating sword towards her opponent. She knew that she wouldn't have much left after this.

One last attack.
