It has been a long, long time. Or at least it felt as if so. Given that today is Christmas day, there should be an abundance amount of people in town, but nobody in the suburban area, let alone in front of an abandoned house. But there she is, a girl with her ears covered by fur earmuffs, her hands leather gloves, her neck scarfs, her feet long boots, and her body trench-coat. It doesn't seem that she has an intention to go in, either. She merely stands there, and wait. As if something is going to happen to the house at a certain time in the night, the girl merely stands, and looks at the house with an odd look on her face. There should not be anything strange to the house, right? After all, it seem to have nobody living in it right now- the look of the house is fine, repaired and refined. There just isn't... anyone in there. The girl closes her eyes, and blows some hot breathe into her hands which now covers and blocks the sight of her mouth. Her nose is getting a little red. But why does it seem like the nose is not red merely because of the light snow on the ground? |

The silence continued and the house continued to look empty, there was not much sign of what it had been. The hook where the sign used to hang was the only indicator that a sign had in fact been there. The paint was a plain white. The only thing indicating what this building used to be was the windows. Well not the windows themselves, but beyond them. There was a singular round table and two chairs, and on the table was a little holder for napkins. The rest was just dark and not much could be seen beyond that area. Suddenly though, there was a flash of light, it flew in from the sky and went through the chimney of the house, illuminating the entire building for a second before dimming. And from the Window there was a brief sight of a black soled shoe. Footsteps could be hear if one was quiet and listened and suddenly the heater could be heard springing to life as a light switch was flipped and the windows showed the inside illuminated to reveal a small cafe. There was a small Jingling sound and then a bell rang as the front door opened, and there was J Murray smiling down at Tsubame. "Merry Christmas, please come in and Enjoy Hyakuji Nights and its impeccable service" |

In front of the cafe, the girl's facial expression was originally bland. It was then changed into a surprised look, then the expression softened. Finally, a smile appears on her face. Not a fake smile. Not a mischievous smile. A genuine, sweet, gentle smile. A smile that seem to be able to make snow melt. It is a warm smile like so, that never appears on Tsubame's face unless she is with her ex-cousin, Jeremiah Murray. She shakes her head, and lowers her hands from in front of her face, and walks up to the ruined house. When she arrives at the door next to the man, he extends her hand like a lady of the European Upper Class, and slightly bends her legs to bow to the man to greet. "Merry Christmas, my dear," the girl says, her voice soft and cute, yet not quite her normal-pretense voice. It seems as if this is actually her real voice, and the two sides of her that people see in general daylight are both fakes. "I hope that your traveling was not too tiring…" She stands up now, waiting for her lover to lead her into the cafe. It has been quite a while since she has last seen J face to face. It has been a lot of telephoning, and web-caming for the past few months. To make things worse, as soon as she gets busy with the maid cafe job, and Zodiac, she hasn't been able to attend to the phone or the camera as much as she wished to. If she has to count, it has been has a month since she has last actually seen his face. As much as Tsubame would like to apologize for this, she decided against it to do it right now, simply because, well, they are in a very good, romantic mood, and she wishes to enjoy every bit of this moment right now. So why ruin it? The brown haired gentleman definitely looked better than the last time Tsubame has seen him, that is for sure. It seems that he is doing something he really enjoys, and it is benefitting his health, both physically and mentally, very well. If anything, Tsubame would bet that it is helping to pull him from the constant upset that he expresses whenever he visits his mother in the Asylum in London. Did the sudden visit that Star paid him help with that, too? As far as Tsubame knows from both the constant telephone bombardment when Star is over there and when she talked to Star last night, Star and Jeremiah has been history, and it doesn't seem that Star is interested in pursing J anymore. More like, there seem to be someone else that she is interested in as well, right now. But then again, Star also had feelings for Jeremiah, and god knows when that would fade. After all, Star is an illusionist and a deceptor just as great as her elemency skill. Even now, Tsubame couldn't tell whether or not Star actually decided to pursue Jeremiah for herself, or for Tsubame and J to be happy together after realizing their feelings. This is one of the things that she, sadly, will probably never get to know. But Star is not on site right now, and it has been a while since they last has the chance to actually sit down, talk, and have dinner together. This is a night to commemorate, that is for sure. |

J smiled as he bent down and kissed Tsubame's hand as he took it. He hadnt seen her in so long, so it was nice to be able to spend the holidays with her. This wasn't exactly a surprise, he had informed her about coming by, but he hadnt been positive the landlord would lease the building again for a day. He had lucked out though, and now he could have the perfect holiday with his girlfriend. He guided her inside from the cold "Traveling isn't all that difficult for me, photomancy really simplifies things." He closed the door behind her and helped her remove her coat hanging it on the rack by the door but not before sneaking in a kiss on her cheek "Besides, how could I miss the chance to see you?" He pulled out a chair at the bar for her and began heating a pot of tea "Between work and your freelance stuff...we don't get much chance to talk" He regretted the words rather quickly, they were kind of a sore spot for J at the moment. The couple still had not discussed the phone call he had received a few weeks ago, and it was making him a tad nervous. "Its good to see that you're ok and healthy" |

The floramancer's smile is very, very sweet indeed, so sweet, that no other would have ever thought that the ivy-like woman can ever blossom like that. Indeed, what J did was definitely something that Tsubame appreciate a lot. She sits down in the chair that J has pulled out, and takes off her coat for J as well. It could have been for the cold outside, or the warmth inside the room, or even just the fact that she was embarrassed, that when J kissed her, there was a fluster on the girl's cheeks. However, that only lasted for a minute, until J complained about the work and freelance. The smile was replaced, and a frown appears on her face. This is a rather sensitive topic that J has touched upon, indeed. Work, she had made a mess with all about her co-worker, Kira. She hasn't told J much about it, except for being able to find a victim of sort at work. Freelance, she hasn't told J much about it, either. She can't possibly tell J that she screwed up with the victim she found at work, had to find a solution, and ended up getting trapped at working "freelance" for a criminal organization called "Zodiac" under a person's name called Osiris Solomon, right? And on top of that… If J ever find out about the Muse port and the Muse itself… She shakes her head. She originally simply didn't want to tell J all that was going on, so that he won't worry. However, between the time that she didn't want to tell J and now, the situation has already worsened to the point where she cannot possibly tell J anything to save her own life, just because she doesn't know what kind of consequence this will bear. Therefore, the top priority right now, is simply to distract J's attention from her work altogether. "I'm good and all, but aren't you a little cold-hearted~?" The girl stands up, and wrap her arms around J's waist. "We haven't seen each other for so long, and the first thing you mentioned was work. Nonetheless, on Christmas, too." Her words soft and gentle, yet with a little bit of thorn within, "While the least I want to think of on Christmas, and on my given birthday, is work." It is made clear that Tsubame was not quite happy about J bringing it up. Or, at least, she would rather not talk about it today. And hopefully, by saying this, J will not revisit this topic for the rest of the night. |

J smiled "Of course Tsubame, that was rude me, Ill try not to bring it up again tonight, just us together spending the holidays with each other." He pushed her into her seat as the tea kettle went off and he rushed to grab it. He really did want to discuss those things with Tsubame, he felt rather distanced from her because of them. But, she was right, it was Christmas, they should work to enjoy it. He poured the hot water into a pot and set it on the table to steep, turning to the counter as he grabbed an apron and wrapped it around himself, tying the knot in the back. "Now, whats Christmas without a proper feast? So, I took the time to make some preparations." He smiled as he went to the Oven and opened it, immediately various smells began to waft into the room. He then proceeded to pull out a medium sized Turkey, ham, a large bowl of mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, homemade stuffing, a large loaf of bread that he began to place on the table. He then poured Tsubame her tea and smiled as he pulled out a bottle of Champagne and two glasses. "I hope everything meets your expectations." |

Ahhh, there it is again, J's understanding side. Tsubame smile in return to J's statement, and falls back gently onto her seat. As much as she loves this side of J and thinks this to be one of J's most charming points of all, she couldn't help but to really think whether or not J would actually be fine with this. Of course, if possible, Tsubame'd rather never talk to J about all the things that she has screwed up on, and has been dealing with, but if J insisted to find out, she would not have a second thought of not telling J truthfully. Of course, there may be some hesitance here and there, but Tsubame would still be willing to talk about it. But that is, of course, only of J brings it up again and insists strongly to know. For now, she simply wishes to enjoy being around J, for it has been a long, long time since she actually was physically close to him. It is strange, for a technology savvy person like herself, Tsubame actually believes that being close to someone is far more important than knowing about a person. After all, if she really needs to know about something, she can always hop onto the computer and finds out all about what she wants to know. Besides, this is Jeremiah Murray, a person she grew up with. There is no such thing as "something she doesn't know" about him. … Or is there? A light frown appears on Tsubame's face. There shouldn't be any single thing that she doesn't know about him, right? She knows everything about him- his birthday, his likes, his dislikes, his jobs, his colleagues, his parents, his hobbies, everything about him. She even knows what size of clothing he wears, what kind of clothing, what sort of fragrance, what material of a tie, everything from the tip of the strand of his hair to his very toe. Why did she doubt herself there? She shakes her head. she must have been too paranoid. She has been this way ever since she met Osiris Solomon. The fact that someone other than herself, J, and people who have affiliations with her family found out about her really shook her confidence up, and she has been guessing on each and every person's intention since. It must be a side-effect of that. Wait a minute. Why did his name show up here?! She shakes her head again. This is a very rare and valuable chance for her to see J. He shouldn't get into the way. It was then that she notices the fragrance of the food in the air. She sniffs it a little, and grins brightly. she looks at the Champagne in the glass, and smirks lightly. "In Japan I am underage, J~" Nevertheless, she took up a glass. "Though one glass won't hurt, right~?" She raises it up, and hits it softly on the other glass in J's hands. "Cheers~" |

J smiled as he clinked his glass together with Tsubame's and took a sip before sitting down opposite of her. He was genuinely happy to spend this time together with her, it seemed almost forever ago where such a thing would have been an impossibility. But through the machinations of his student Star, the impossible had become a reality, and things had been wonderful. They had been great. Well right now they were sort of ok. J still loved Tsubame, and the feelings she ignited inside him left him with no doubt about that. But even when they had been living together in England, it had been difficult. Tsubame's freelance work for one thing was something he disapproved of. It was a reminder of what they once had been and J couldnt really stand it, but Tsubame enjoyed it and because of that he had let it slide. Now, they were barely talking to her. In fact the latest news about Tsubame he had heard had not come from her but from someone by the Name of Osiris Solomon, the name was vaguely familiar, and that worried him even more. But there had not been any clear communication between them in a long time, even when they did chat, Tsubame rarely told him anything about her life. But no, he was getting frustrated. He had to focus on this moment, this time when he was with Tsubame. He began to fill his plate with food and passing it in Tsubames direction. He then looked up at Tsubame and smiled "So, how have classes been? Have you been making any new friends this year?" |

With a grin that is almost impossible to erase from her face, Tsubame was enjoying her meal. She has some of the turkey cut up, and has decided to start enjoying it, until when J has asked the question about school. It was then that Tsubame paused for a little minute, and looked at J in a rather distant look. It was as if she did not expect J to ask such a question at all. And indeed, Tsubame has not expected this from him, either. After all, she has always thought that J knows better than anyone that she doesn't get along with people that easily, and whenever she has friends, they are usually known as "friends with benefits". For those who aren't that type of friends, it is probably some sort of favor business that remains between the two- either she owes them something, which is rare, or that those some people owes her something. It has rarely been a mutual relationship that Tsubame can be honest towards. There are hardly anyone who she can ever be honest to. Well, Star is one, Kaede maybe another. However, it is very unlike Tsubame to ever talk to them openly, simply due to the previous experiences that they share, and Tsubame's dislike to talk to anyone in general. Well, then, there is also Osiris, but he is an oddity of his own. Then, another person pops into mind. It is not like Tsubame can talk about Hana, right? All this is going to end up to be is another Hana-ranting session. Not that she has ever done one, but Tsubame didn't really want to spoil the mood just because of an obnoxious woman like that of her roommate. "Classes are fine, boring as usual," The girl proceeds to pick up her fork and knife, and starts to cut up her food into tiny tiny pieces, so to ready them for her to eat, "Not much friends, either. You know, I am not good at these… well, social stuff. I am too used to build social interact based on work and benefits, that I haven't been able to switch back yet." The girl takes a bite out of her meat, and sighs a little bit. "It is harder than I think to live normal." She says, under her breathe and quietly, before taking another bite. It seems that Tsubame was thinking about it, and somehow leaked her words through her lips when she was not paying attention. |

J nodded as he listened to Tsubame. He had hoped, wished really...that maybe coming back would let her open up. He wished more people knew the Tsubame he knew. Well...the one he thought he did. The more he thought about it, the more uncomfortable he was with how little he knew about what was going on in her life. But it seemed, at least...one thing hadnt changed. He wished that one thing was a bit happier than it was but still... He tried to remain cheerful as he ate his food. And then a thought occurred to him as he refilled his glass with champagne. "What about Osiris...um..Solomon? The one who called me? He seemed rather concerned with your well-being, isnt he a friend?" J took another drink and put some turkey into his mouth waiting for a response. He knew that this was technically a work question...he had said he was her boss, but he had sounded...young over the phone and he was curious. He didnt think Tsubame was the type to do something behind his back, but if she had a male friend he wanted to know why she wasn't talking about him. Besides, she didnt know what Osiris had said over the phone |

There is an immediate frown on Tsubame's face when the phrase Osiris Solomon was mentioned. It was so immediate of a reaction, that by the time Tsubame realized what kind of a face she made, J would probably have noticed it already. J is, in fact, half correct as to what he thought about Tsubame's concern with the question. It is a work related question, alright. However, to Tsubame, there is always just that bit more reason for her to frown upon this than just the reason of "work". She could tell that j is worried, and, even, a little jealous and anxious. Although she did not expect J to react this way, she could tell very well why he would behave this way, too. After all, if J has had someone like Osiris to him in England, she would be worrying, too. That was also half of the reason why she called J almost every other hour when Star is training under him. The other half of the reason? She just wanted to tease Star there and here, and just to get Star into a state of upset, or even fake upset. But that is not the issue in hand right now. Right now, she needs to deal with a jealous J, and fast. The girl puts down the silver eating utensils in her hands, and slowly takes her napkin on her lap to whip her mouth. She then drops it, and looks at J, rather seriously. "He is my client," Tsubame state, rather seriously, "A rather big one, in fact. It's been a series of projects from him that I was working on, and he decided to stay close because he needed me as his resource. That is probably also the reason why he's concerned, too." Tsubame wouldn't think that this is the only reason why Osiris starts to show more of his concern over her, too. After all, it is rather strange for him to actually follow her out from the maid cafe, and attempts to protect her after she got off from work. It is also strange that he actually used the Zodiac medical facilities to help cure her, along with telling Yuri to help her with her recovery. The attitudes that Osiris's servants has given something about Osiris away to her, too. On top of that, Tsubame knows for a fact that she is not the only one Osiris can turn to if he needs resources. The others may not be able to provide as good in quality of resource as she does, but she is still not the only one who can do that. She actually had to make up this reason to convince herself that there is nothing within Osiris that prompts the not-so-subtle attitude change, so that she won't think too much and end up over-thinking this. And she is using the same explanation to try and convince J. After the explanation, the girl reaches out to take on one of J's hands, and looks at him for a longer pause of silence, before saying anything again. "There is nothing between us, except for the relationship of employer and employee." The girl reasserts. Edited by Sybilus, Feb 4 2012, 05:32 AM.

Rather than console him as Tsubame intended, her response did nothing but make him feel more nervous. Tsubame may have been trying to assure him of the fact that he meant nothing more by repeating the fact that Osiris was only a client but it was one of those things where the repetition just rose more questions. It made it sound like she was trying to convince him of something she was hiding. If it was just a client then she could have just said so. Why keep saying it unless she wasn't convinced. There was a frown etched on his face as she continued to explain. Maybe if he was a normal employer, he would believe that Osiris would be so concerned about Tsubame. Maybe. But this was a rich man who was using Tsubame as an information broker, why should he care about the girl behind the computer especially with the resources he has. It didnt make sense for that to be his sole motivation. He closed his eyes and swallowed. However, when she touched his hand he felt him push it away. He loved her. He really did. He wanted to believe her so much, he didn't really think he could though...but he could keep quiet and keep there being any extra barriers between them then there already was. He tried to smile and looked at Tsubame "Alright then, I believe you...so" He leans back and looks around "How about dessert?" |

"Alright then, I believe you.... so." TSubame wasn't blind. She wasn't dumb, either. She could see the deeply engraved frowning brows on J as she explained. She could also notice the way that J voiced his "trust" of her- which, evidently, did not exist. Even the way that he reacted to her touching him tells her that he is not believing a single word she said- normally, he would have flipped his hand over and hold hers, but this time, he didn't. He is doubting her. The poor girl's heart is suddenly elevated to midair, in fear, in paranoia. She felt being pushed away. His body language said it all. He was not convinced. He does not believe her. But why? Here she is, trying so hard to actually push away all the thoughts that Osiris has put into her mind to try and confuse her with, and tries to make sure that J doesn't have to worry about anything regarding her. She is trying so hard to stay clear-minded from all of the things that Osiris has done for her- which she could tell was done from more than just of obligation. She could have, if she really wanted to, accepted all of Osiris's offers, and still hid everything from J. But she didn't. Until this very minute, she has, not once, did anything beyond what she ought to do as a member of Zodiac and as a indebted person for and to Osiris. She has even been very cautions in handling her relationship with Osiris, so that she will not be trapped in her own confusion of his actions, and remain loyal to her feelings for J up, even right now. All she did wrong, was that she has fallen sick and hurt by a pervert, and lowered her guard distance from Osiris, so to let him actually take care of her when she was unconscious. All she is trying to do right now, is to hide from J that she was confused about Osiris's actions, and that she was actually so much in debt to her employer. All she wanted, was not for him to worry and be happy. That was all she wanted. The floramancer felt a needle-pinched pain in her heart, and a strange, annoying itch in her nose. She has felt this feeling before, and she knows very well what that meant. She wanted so badly, to just stand up and grab onto J's sleeve. She wanted so badly to simply ask him, in tears, to believe her, and to just give her some time to settle things with Osiris. Then everything will be back to normal. Then, after the semester is over, and after her debt has been paid off to the Elemancers in Hyakuji and to Osiris Solomon, she can head back to London with him. She wanted so badly to simply tells J everything that she has been through up until now, and tells him that she was frustrated, frightened, annoyed, and in fear, and that she has hidden all of these from him, acted all cheerful for him, simply in wish for him not to worry. But that would defeat the point of her pretense. That would throw all of her efforts and endurances into the drain. Telling J about all of these will only make him paranoid, and fear alongside with her, and even, maybe, anguish about her situation right now. That is the least she wants ever happening to him. Precisely because she loves him so much, she doesn't want to bring him any more harm than she has already brought onto him- ever since the day she was adopted into the House. That is the only thing that she couldn't bear doing. Therefore, instead of letting her emotional side take control, Tsubame ruled it out, once again, with her rational, logical side. She takes a deeper breathe in, calmed her itchy nose down, and bit into the flesh inside her lisp. She then forces herself and smiles, innocently, like what she always do, and says- "Of course~ Can I order a J-special?" ... Even though, for once in her entire life, sweets is the furthest thing she ever want tasted in her mouth right now. |

The tension was palpable, no one was buying the other ones act. He didn't want to make her feel this way. He was being selfish, that was it...but no, she was hiding things from him, how could he not be upset with it? He had no idea what was going on her life, had no idea what she was doing, or who she was doing it with. She kept trying to cover things up... But he couldn't bear this, he couldn't bear the notion that because he was upset about this that she was suffering. He knew she didn't mean it, she would never hurt him. He knew that, they ha been together so long that there was no way that he could not know it. But the fact that this sort of thing kept happening, that they couldn't seem to find a way to make things come together, to piece just right and be happy. It scared him, he just wanted them to be happy together... So why is it whenever they were together they were so sad? He turned around to the table with two large cupcakes and placed them on the table. He then looked up at Tsubame's face, the smile, the smile that he knew so well was a lie. She could fool other people, she never remembered it didn't work on him. He crossed the distance between them and got to his knees and pulled her into a loving embrace. "Im sorry...I just...I get scared sometimes. But please, dont worry about me" He kissed her cheek and smiled at her "I love you remember? lets put this all aside...no more unhappy thoughts...and enjoy the evening together" |

She heard what he was saying. She understood it. She could feel his warm embrace. She could receive all of the things that he is giving her, and understand everything that he is trying to do. She should be glad that things is back to where they are. But no. She felt no such thing. Instead, her heart became even colder. She could feel her smile freezing up into a complete pretense, as she returns the embrace to him, simply because, even though J tries so hard to assure her, his thoughts, his body, his entire being is turning away from her. But what is she supposed to do? What is she supposed to tell him, that she is in so much debt to Osiris Solomon that she agreed to work for him as one of the 12 leaders of the Zodiacs? That she is going to rob a bank along with Osiris Solomon? That she is going to, once again, fall into the depthless abyss of darkness and crimes? She could very well run away. She knows that, too. She could tell J to take her away, at this instant, to the far, fay away land of London, and never come back to Hyakuji again. But what will be left of her after she does that? She will be left with J, yes. But she will not have anything else within her left. She does not have a parent already. She does not have a root already. Her past is a pitch-black, dirty felt. What makes her still able to stand and dignify herself as a person is the useless pride that she clings so dangerously dear onto. Pride as a business-woman, pride as a freelancer, pride as a salesperson, pride as a… human being. Stupid, mundane, worthless piece of pride. And yet, that is all she is clinging so dearly onto to prove her existence. She cannot be like J, and discard her past completely behind her. She cannot even begin to imagine what would happen if she stops her freelancing, even before she has returned to Hyakuji. She is not like J, who knows, and excels at, to do things other than what she grew up being trained to do. No, this is all but excuse. She is too afraid to discard her dark side. She is too terrified to even begin thinking what kind of a person she would become. More exactly, she knows that she would be rendered weak, useless, miserable, and worthless. Just like when her mother has abandoned her like a broken tool. Yes, she loves J. There is no denying it. But that is also the reason why she must continue this. The least she wants him to do, is to carry her as a useless burden on him, and worry about her. He has worried enough. It is time for her to prove that she can be useful, too. She cannot falter here. "… I love you, remember?" But that one sentence. Something inside cracked. J has never used the word "remember" to try and convince her that he loves her before. It is just like he is trying to convince himself that he still loves her, just like how she is convincing herself that Osiris meant nothing more than just being her employer. But what J is doing is far more hurtful than she has expected him to do. "… Mhm." The girl merely replies, and returns with a soft grin. Deep inside, though, she knows that something has already changed. Their relationship is no longer as invulnerable as diamond. It is as weak as thin ice. |
