Robyn stopped in front of the door to the WDA and let out a sigh, the moisture from her breath freezing into a cloud of visible air in front of her. She didn't take her motorcycle that day since for starters, she was convinced she'd be unable to pry her frozen corpse from the seat, and second, she could stand to take in the fresh air on a long walk.

For the hundredth time since leaving her apartment she reached a hand inside her coat and checked for the paper tucked away in her breast pocket. Naturally, as the walk hadn't been particularly jarring or stressful, everything was still in its place. She couldn't remember the last time she felt so apprehensive about something so simple, but she was going to do it. She had to. And with that, the girl gripped the handle of the door and walked into the warmth.

First inspection showed that no one was there, and it was entirely possible that her mind was subconsciously avoiding looking for anyone. If nothing else, she could just shove the envelope in a drawer and hope it was eventually found. And if not...well, then maybe it wasn't meant to be.

That was for one envelope. The other she hadn't entirely decided on what to do about it. While both contained resolutions to issues she was having, there was one she needed to end today. She'd lost enough sleep over it, and hoped handing it over would relieve some of the stress. But if he wasn't there to take it...

Robyn pivoted on her heel to head back toward the door after little to no attempt at searching around the sizeable office, intent on getting back to where she same from. What the heck was she doing here, was she ready for that sort of decision?

"Gott, I can't believe you've got work at this time of the year..."

Sorry... I just... don't feel like it today...

"Whatever happened to you anyway?"

Don't ask.

Well, he certainly wouldn't bother. Seth's problem is Seth's problem, and V's problem is V's problem. Though V's problem may be a bit more complicated than having a mental breakdown that renders you completely incapable of moving not even a little bit. Whatever kind of illness that is...

A hand reached into his pocket, taking out a peculiar little phone charm with a little angry looking tiger on it. While it certainly looked cute enough for Seth to want to claim it for himself, V had bought it for a completely different reason...

~~~~~
Once upon a time, a month before Christmas...
"So uh... I'm pretty sure Jameson has an obsession with fedoras... but they're damn expensive..." Seth said, as he flipped through the rack of hats.
Just pick one from the bargain bin.
That's cheap and you know it...
Well. Whatever, he's not gonna argue with him if he's being stubborn about buying expensive gifts despite his financial lockdown (he's being paid by TWO people, how could a boy spend so much?!). Le sigh, kid just doesn't know his limit sometimes. It was then though, that a certain something caught his eyes.
~~~~~

So yea... he bought it, this palmtop tiger phone charm. It wasn't for himself, nor was it for Seth (despite how many times the boy begged V for it). Nay. He wasted about... he forgot its price... buying this little thing as a gift for someone. Pretty strange reasoning for a metavirus without any real connection with anyone around this city. Well. Maybe except for a couple of people... and not all of them actually treated him as someone that should be socialized with.

The metavirus shoved the snow out of his way, some of it falling into a hot drink of a random dude sleeping on a bench. Not that he cared. Though that's probably why he's so unapproachable. Always so cold and heartless, never caring, never loving, never--"Robyn?"

They really do have this strange moments of coincidental meeting, do they. Not gonna go through the times of the past, but you get the idea. Or not. No matter, it's not that important anyway. "What are you doing here? The office is supposed to be closed 'cept for a couple of people..." Hrm? His sentence lacks that snarky tone and that sarcastic comments it's usually so abundant with. But seriously though, you get tired of it after a while and just want to move on.

The girl momentarily tensed as she gripped the doorknob after pulling the door shut, momentarily staring at the door after a familiar voice called out her name from somewhere behind her. It looked like she wouldn't be dodging this bullet and returning to her apartment unnoticed.

"What are you doing here? The office is supposed to be closed 'cept for a couple of people..."

It was simultaneously the voice she'd been looking for, but ironically the same one that she was looking to avoid and caused her chest to tighten. This was a sign that she need not drag things out longer than absolutely necessary.

And that would explain why no one was in there... she thought to herself, completely forgetting that real businesses actually did things like have abbreviated hours during the holidays. Surely Jameson would still take on a case if it presented itself, but thankfully everyone had been fortunate enough to actually be allotted a break.

Though she hadn't gone to the office in hopes of picking up a case. In fact...

She turned around finally, noticing him standing right outside. How did she miss him in the first place? Good grief, was her tunnel vision that bad when she was thinking that hard?

"...I..." She couldn't come out with the original lie she'd been planning on having forgotten something since it was literally five seconds between her entrance and exit. Maybe it was best to get this over with, bandaid-rip-off style. "...Was looking for you, actually." Well now, that wasn't so bad, was it? She tried to mentally kick herself for having such schoolgirl anxiety, and it was all she could do to keep her typical composure.

Hopefully the image of normalcy she was trying to display was working. At least she was pretty sure the bitter temperatures were what was making her cheeks rosy.

Say what? Okay, at this point he should be tossing out some jabs at her, but to be honest he was too surprised to be thinking of that. Really not something he expected to come out of her mouth, especially when she barely showed up during the WDA Christmas party. In fact, he actually barely saw her since their little episodes back then up the mountain. Thought she wanted to just... I dunno, stay away from people? "I... see," He said, turning away from her as he scratched his head. "Good timing, I was... looking for you too,"

Then silence. Come on, say something, what are you being quiet for? What's the point of wanting to see someone if there's nothing to talk about? The chilly winter breeze helped to alleviate the awkwardness by filling in the silence with its hum. Though really, he's standing there doing nothing for five seconds too long for someone with a purpose.

Well, not that he doesn't actually have one. He just didn't know how to execute it. After a few moment of pondering and pausing and staring at his feet, the metavirus decided to just wing it. Like he always does.

"Here. Christmas present,"

Still not meeting her eyes, and unnaturally silent for his kind of personality, the metavirus slipped the palmtop tiger phone charm from his pocket, holding it in front of him for her. He really should have at least followed the tradition of putting it in some sort of packaging first, that kind of ruined the surprise.

Before she had the chance to do what she was intending, she was caught off-guard by his response. So, both of them were hanging out by the WDA in hopes of finding the other one. She was wondering why he was standing outside, unless he happened to be one of the "few people" who were still coming into the office that he mentioned before.

"A... Christmas present?"

Damn, second year in a row she was thrown this curve ball. Really, after Seth's gift from last year you would've thought she'd be prepared this time around. Unfortunately habits are hard to break, and when one of them has been specifically NOT buying presents for a number of years, you tend to not think about it despite the assault of commercialization of the season. While she did appreciate the gesture last year, this time around seemed a little...different.

She carefully took the phone charm from his outstretched hand, finding it a bit amusing that he didn't even bother to put it in any kind of gift wrapping. That seemed like his nature though. Straightforward and to-the-point, why mess around with wrapping and tape when the point is to get the gift in her hands.

Robyn looked at the tiny angry tiger attached to the bit of string and couldn't help but crack a faint smile. Normally she wasn't one for cute things, but at least she felt like when he picked it out (assuming he didn't find it on the ground or was re-gifting it), it reminded him of her somehow. It wasn't a generic necklace or a bouquet of flowers that'd die in a week, and thank goodness it wasn't over-the-top. Or maybe it was supposed to remind her of him.

Not to mention... technically this wasn't actually coming from Seth. And for that reason she found it hard to remain indifferent. What were the odds that he actually got everyone else a gift, or was this something...else?

"Thanks. It's...cute," she replied with a small smile and briefly looked up from the charm to him. What else was she supposed to say? It WAS cute, and quite frankly, she wasn't entirely up on her appreciative vocabulary. Maybe he'd take the next gesture as his own Christmas present since she didn't have anything else to give him.

Tucking the phone charm safely into her pocket, she reached a hand inside her coat and pulled out two envelopes, quickly returning a standard letter-sized one back into its spot for safe-keeping. The square-ish ivory envelope was already opened, but it was for him all the same. It was time to get this moment of truth over with, but she didn't plan on lingering.

"Anyway, here," she announced, holding the envelope out to him and keeping her eyes trained either on the item in her hand or somewhere else completely. "I wasn't sure what to do with it so I thought...giving it to you was the best option." She wasn't going to stand there and watch him open it, so instead she walked past him with her hands trying to keep warm in her pockets, the snow crunching under her boots. "I'll see you around. And... thanks again."

Walking off down the sidewalk, Robyn felt her anxiety slowly seeping out of her as that ridiculous weight that'd been on top of her for so long was finally lifted. She was pretty convinced at this point that her cheeks were more warm than they were cold, but the residual fleeting smile she couldn't force down told her that was just fine.

"Eh? H-hey, wait...!" He wanted to stop her, ask her what the envelope was about, but even though he was sure she heard him there's no stopping the girl from simply walking away, obviously trying her best to ignore him. His hand hanging in midair before dropping to his side in defeat. But... maybe it was best not to see her at the moment. He wasn't even sure what he was supposed to say. Maybe he himself wanted to avoid talking to her over this... envelope.

What's this anyway? It's unsealed, and she didn't say anything that prevented him from reading it. Is it for him? He supposed... it is. Slipping the content of the ivory envelop out, he unfolded the piece of paper and...

...

"Yersh, I'll give this to Selene," He said gruffly, tucking the piece of paper back into the envelope as he climbed the stairs to the WDA office. Let's hope there's no one in the office, he didn't want anyone to see that small smile on his face.

Urhg... where's the hot chocolate...?

"Coming, coming..." The door closed behind him, pulling his sleeves to prepare himself and Seth a mug of hot chocolate for the day.
