Perhaps the only reason Jonny didn't precisely remember how long ago it was now, was because Jonny had never bothered to record the date. Never bothered to put into his mind just when, as opposed to just where, it had all happened. But, he certainly remembered what had happened that day, and even if the speed of his vision didn't grant him such excellent memory at times, he'd probably remember it clear as day anyway. How could he forget it really, when what would have otherwise seemed so routine, went spiralling into madness, chaos, and eventually, suffering? On that day, he had met a real life superheroine, only for her to be lost to both him and the world moments later, leaving only the poor girl who had suffered, because of mere association. He was here right now, to make sure that girl was going to be alright. Jonny made sure to check the time for once, looking towards the clock that stood at the heart of Majikku Mall. He was on the second floor, waiting, sat at the table of a small cafe, drinking a cup of tea. The boy had come dressed as he normally did, with a bright red shirt and typical blue jeans, the formula broken only by the black jacket he wore atop himself - he had needed it to keep warm in the cold weather, but kept it open now that he was inside. It was hardly the coldest day winter had to offer anyone, but it still set a chill upon almost anyone who dared to venture forth from the safety of their home. He supposed, if he had wanted, he could have simply waited for Mariko to get ready, and from there, leave the dorms together to head into town. Though, for the conveniences and advantages it brought, such a plan also had its flaws. It would require that their mornings be aligned to a certain point, but it also could create the wrong image if misinterpreted. They were after all, meant to be here solely to socialise and to try and make sure one of them was holdig up after pretty severe trauma. Anyone that casually observed however, might end up leaping to the conclusion they were on a da- Jonny shook slightly, remembering that even within a building, climate control did not wholly protect from the true climate. He kept an eye vigilant, wondering when the once sailor warrior, would be showing her face. |

"Hmm, no... No... No... Definitely not... Too skimpy... No... No... Ah, perfect!" Mariko had been trying to pick an outfit from her small collection of clothes of varying suitability, passing on her "Usual" outfit (given the tiny skirt), several variations of the above including with longer skirts and shorts, something that was essentially just a few pieces of material and nothing else (Seriously, why the hell did she even own something like that?), and oddly enough, a Maid outfit (Bwa? What the hell?). Finally, she had settled on an ankle-length skirt with a wide hem (for normal steps, rather than short and hobbled ones, naturally) and a lace-fringed blouse to go with her boots. Checking the mirror on the wall, she opened the rather extensive make-up kit that Johnny had given her for Christmas, and for the first time ever (excluding the assistance she had sought from several dorm-mates on how to apply make-up properly), applied make-up. With some moderation there, naturally, using only lipstick and eye shadow to accompany her looks. Packing the kit away, the red-haired teen grabbed her coat and headed out for the mall. Presently, she was headed through the food court, almost as if she knew where the speedster was "hiding"... Well, hiding in plain sight that was... "Johnny-kun!" Spotting her friend, Mariko headed over in a none-hurried fashion. After all, there was plenty of time, and it wasn't like this was a date or anything... Right? |

The boy speedster raised one eyebrow at the sudden declaration of his voice - and with quite the honorific, though he supposed it may have simply been because of an age difference, or his gender, rather than anything else. "Hey, Mariko." Jonny smiled as his friend approached, and noted that she was wearing rather... different, clothing, at least compared to what he normally saw from her. The light brown blouse and black skirt stuck out, though only when contrasted at the typically less conservative attire she had. Whilst admittedly, he did not see her as much as he did his various other friends, it was still enough of a contrast that he took notice of it. He also, briefly, wondered why he always mentally made such a big deal of it when his friends took an appearance outside of the norm. He rose to his feet, and moved over to pull out a chair for the young lady, inviting her to sit at the table alongside him. Once she accepted the invitation - or simply sat in a chair of her own, regardless - he sat back down, getting back to his tea, and handing her one of the menus on the table so she could figure out what she might want. "Wait a minute." He paused however, putting down his cup, as he blinked and looked across at Mariko. He stared towards her face for a few moments, before snapping his fingers as he realised precisely what was so different about it. "I see you finally decided to try on the make up I got you." Jonny chuckled at the realisation, before subsequently also realising that he might wish to avoid any unintended implications. "N-not that you did it badly or anything. Heck, I'd say the red lipstick suits you pretty well..." Though that alone probably carried more than he had wiped away. "Hope nothing went too wrong on the way here." He attempted to fire up some casual conversation, since that would seemingly be the best way to go in this particular situation. Edited by Jonny, Jan 6 2012, 12:01 PM.

Taking the offered chair with a smile and a nod of thanks, Mariko smiled slightly... Not too long ago, she wouldn't have gone near Johnny with a fifty-foot pole, given that owing to a certain guy, she was scared witless of guys claiming to be "Heroes"... But saving you from a giant monster made of pure evil, really makes a girl change her outlook on a person... Of course, things wouldn't have happened that way, had her Sailor Senshi side, Sailor Sol, not have mysteriously vanished in mid-battle when the magic surrounding her transformation item broke somehow. Looking through the menu that Johnny had handed her, Mariko glanced over to see him looking at her face intensely... "Is there... Something on my face?" Though moments later, she got her answer when Johnny exclaimed that she was wearing some of the make-up from the rather extensive kit he had gotten her for Christmas. "Yeah, I thought I'd dress-up a little bit... Make a bit of a change, compared to how I usually look... I got some help from some of the other girls in the dorm, so I could not make a mess of things trying to put any on." Which was true enough, owing to the possibility of looking like a literal clown if she screwed it up... Which would have probably been quite a waste of make-up and time, what with the having to remove it, and trying again, repeatedly until success was achieved. "Don't worry, nothing bad happened... My hardest battle was working out what to wear... I don't know why I own a maid outfit, or something so skimpy that it's pretty much just a few pieces of material..." |

"Yeah, I thought I'd dress-up a little bit... Make a bit of a change, compared to how I usually look... I got some help from some of the other girls in the dorm, so I could not make a mess of things trying to put any on." Mariko explained just how she came to have the make up upon her face, and Jonny gave a few small nods. Though it was a subtle change in terms of her face, he'd say it was a pretty good one, inexperienced as he might have been in judging such things. It was like... it brought an uplifting touch to her face, instead of drowning it in false colours and ink, as he had seen some others to do. It was like... she became ever so slightly more a lady, by using it. "Don't worry, nothing bad happened..." Jonny breathed a small sigh of relief, understanding that whilst Mariko had some capabilities in self defence, her confidence had been kinda shot from the trauma she'd faced. Plus, well, there were still things of the supernatural out there, and if they had any inkling of who Mariko was in her civilian form... well, needless to say, Jonny had some justifiable concerns. "My hardest battle was working out what to wear..." Again, Jonny nodded, as he took another sip of his tea. If she was trying to work with different appearances - as the usage of the make up indicated - then picking out a new wardrobe could indeed be quite challenging, particularly if her existing range was limited... "I don't know why I own a maid outfit, or something so skimpy that it's pretty much just a few pieces of material..." Or... that. In truly comical fashion, much of Jonny's tea came flying back out of his mouth, as the shock set in. There could easily be a justified and rational explanation for them, such as some kind of job that would require her to wear such things. Of course, the list of jobs that would include such attire also included many unsavoury roles, and as he tried to stop the flow of tea from his mouth, Jonny stuttered out a response. "Y-you don't say..." He tried to keep any perverse thoughts from entering his mind, before he finally cleared his throat. "S-so... shall we get to talking about one another?" He asked, before realising to be a bit more specific than that. "I-I mean... where do you come from? What were you doing? How long have you been in Hyakuji? Stuff like that." He asked fairly generic questions, trying to make it clear she could answer however she wanted. |

"Fifteen feet, and... Is that...? Wow... You took out a waiter on the spillage... Excellent shot... Maybe, you need to consider a career as a water cannon." Holding back laughter at Johnny's accidental spraying of tea everywhere and the spillage tripping up a waiter, Mariko looked back down at the menu for a moment, as Johnny asked about her background. "Tokyo, sixteen years ago. Born and raised there, and schooled there too, until last year. That's when I transferred to Hyakuji, been here ever since. As to what I was doing? I studied English part-time so I could understand the English-speaking world better, a great help with my singing passions. Other than that, I was in regular schooling by day, but as of two years ago, by night, I was a heroine... But you knew that part already." It did seem slightly rude, but Mariko preferred to keep her points concise and relatively short. An odd trait to say the least, but given her real nature as an introvert, it was a given... Wait, what was that? "Wow... Another four waiters? Two of them twice? I'm sure this cafe wasn't hiring entertainment to wait on, but the floor show is hilarious..." |

"Fifteen feet, and... Is that...? Wow... You took out a waiter on the spillage... Excellent shot... Maybe, you need to consider a career as a water cannon." Jonny was embarassed as Mariko gave her evaluation of his spit take, however impressive it might have been. The only real reason he didn't immediately take to pointing out that, even if it was a minor spill which would be unlikely to hurt anyone, it was rude to take enjoyment in the misendeavours of another, was because he realised how little she did indeed have a chance to enjoy herself. And, well, it was seemingly only some minor spill. Hardly the biggest crime ever to laugh at waiter slipping, and Mariko had more than earnt a softer touch from Justice. Regardless, Jonny listened to Mariko as she told him her tale, however concise it might have been. He had known her to be native to Japan, as her accent and names had so rather clearly given away - even if raised abroad, one would have expected hints to appear in the way she spoke - but he had never realised she might be from Tokyo itself. He had always been made curious by the parallels in Japan and Britain, and the structure of their capitals was one such parallel. Both had main cities at their core, but areas that made up the greater whole of each all around of them, which were ultimately still considered part of the city in casual reference. And both were small nations that, for better or for worse, had risen towards the top of the food chain. The main difference was that Britain had based much of its strength in military strength, whilst Japan was very much a technological and economical powerhouse. Other details that she gave, were also rather curious. For starters, he had no realisation up until this point that she was actually studying English as part of a course - and that she wished to use it in aiding her abilities as a singer. It was rather stunning, but also amusing, to learn that such was her wish, and he made a note of it in the back of his mind. The other thing that caught his ear, was how she had only been a heroine as of two years ago. Whilst a quick google search could tell just about anybody that Sailor Sol had only first appeared in such a timeframe, he had been curious whether or not she'd had the powers for longer, or if it was some kind of instant hero makeover. Well, for the most part, now he knew. "Wow... Another four waiters? Two of them twice? I'm sure this cafe wasn't hiring entertainment to wait on, but the floor show is hilarious..." Mariko's sudden change in subject matter made Jonny blink, before he turned his head back to where he had first done so with the spit take. And subsequently, he realised exactly what she meant. "Hold on a moment." Whilst perhaps one waiter slipping, in the hopes things would be resolved quickly, had seemed reasonable to the boy, letting this nonsense go on any further just seemed silly. At what was relatively low speeds for him, but still clearly able to match any car that could be bought from the ship, Jonny plucked up a near mop, swept across the floor, and had things back to a reasonably clean state in no time at all. "Sorry about that." And he was sat perfectly back in his seat, as if he had never left it. "Now that you've told me about you, I suppose I should do the same. I'm British by birth place and heritage, and I've had my powers since I was a child. Was the only one I knew with such abilities, but when I entered into my teenage years, I caught wind of a place where people 'like me' gathered. I took a course in Japanese, enrolled in the school, and have been here since - its my second year at the school right now." He covered similar areas to Mariko, though noticeably missed out on his intentions for the future - at least in the way Mariko had addressed her goal of becoming a singer. Jonny... didn't really have such plans, not for now at least. He was often one not to think so far ahead, but he supposed with recent happenings, he was inclined to do that more and more - after all, he's the one who planned this get together. "Though, a singer eh? Kinda caught me off guard there." He leaned in, showing some interest with a small smile. "But you know what? I think you could do it. If you ever need some help with the English - just feel free to ask. You're speaking to a genuine Brit, after all." The boy grinned as he leaned back, though his mind was clearly thinking upon something as he did so. "Hey, think you could maybe give me a sample of what you sing like? I'm sure we could find a karaoke machine somewhere around here." They needed something to do, and Mariko needed to enjoy herself - so why not go with her presumed passion? |

Nodding politely at Johnny's own explanation of his past, Mariko watched as he speed-mopped the tea spit-take pool. She had been enjoying the "floor show", but oh well. "Full-blown Brit huh? That's pretty cool." Wait, did she change from Japanese to English? Yes, yes she did. And it was rather flawless too, heck there wasn't the usual inflection that would have made it "Engrish" from her accent, there was hints of an accent, but not enough to distort her words. "There's a karaoke box in the mall, I saw it on my way in." Which was true, and funnily enough, it was only a few hundred feet away from where they sat... Though, Mariko finished glancing through the menu and finally set it aside. "There's quite a selection of things... And stuff from different cultures too. Typical Hyakuji that, being very open-cultured..." |

Jonny would admit, if the 'full blown brit' line had been the first words he'd ever heard out of Mariko's mouth, he likely wouldn't have suspected to not be a non native speaker of the english language at all. The only telltale signs were so minor that they could be attributed to family or relative area, rather than coming from an entirely different country. He had leapt to the conclusion that her 'part time' lessons implied an incomplete tutelate, but evidently, was quite wrong on the matter. "There's a karaoke box in the mall, I saw it on my way in." Mariko cleared up the matter of where they might find a karaoke machine so as to test out the girl's singing prowess, and Jonny made a mental note of it. "There's quite a selection of things... And stuff from different cultures too. Typical Hyakuji that, being very open-cultured..." Mariko had finished looking through the menu, and in response to her little assessment, Jonny gave a light nod. "Its probably got quite a bit to do with the school, and the fact its popular for students from across the globe." The boy speedster raised his point, just as he raised his cup of tea, and took another sip. He let the taste of the liquid smooth down his throat, a light and relieved sigh coming from his lips shortly soon after. "Few other schools are so well equipped - or so well known - for catering to the needs of students with extraordinary abilities, even alongside the normal. People with different tastes come in, and the stores adapt so as to cater to as wide a demographic as they can. Of course, they'll likely remain somewhat selective, otherwise they'd spend so much on stock so as to gain the most diverse of choices, they'd make a terrible loss." It was basic business studies, particularly when it came to smaller, non-brand stores that likely did not have the profit margins of millions to cover the costs of diversifying their stock to any extensive degree. "So, planning to order something then?" In all truth, it would only be fair towards Mariko if she was given the chance, as Jonny had ordered and started consuming his drink before she arrived. Truly, it was only fair and just if she were to be given the same right towards a meal. "Once you're done, how about we go and find that karaoke machine?" He asked, almost tempted to find a song that specifically contained some english lyrics at some point, so as to test how well Mariko's pronunciation and diction held up in singing - which it would need to if her career were to work out. |
