One does not simply eat one packet of mee goreng

He kept silent as he continued stirring the curry, acting as though he hadn't heard her. The flames flickered slightly as a soft gust of wind blew into the kitchen from the open window. Then his hand stopped moving, his expression changing from the expectant look, anticipating the product of their cooking, to a less cheerful, more solemn face. "Nah. She definitely did something," Huh? Was he defending Hana for whatever happened back then? "She's a harsh person. Always aggressive, always violent. She lacks empathy and almost never sympathizes for anyone. She's blunt and she's uncaring of others for the most part. She doesn't care what she says or does to other people, and sometimes she's even proud of it," It... does look as though he was bashing Youma in favor of Hana. But... that's not like him at all. Why would he go and badmouth her like that? It's not like- "That's just it. She's a very honest person. Too honest, that it always gets her in trouble," His head dropped down slightly, eyes narrowing slightly in regret. He raised his head moments later, turning to Hana with a serious expression on his face. "Youma can't lie. She's very bad at it," ...Wait, she can't lie? Well, Seth knows her the best after all... They've spent so much time together that it's impossible for him to not know just how terrible she is at not telling the truth. She's just... too brutally honest. "I don't know what happened back then, but whatever she did there has to be a reason," Simply put, he wanted explanation. |

Hana looked up at Seth as she awaited his answer, noting how his expression suddenly changed. He really was being serious now.. She listened with a neutral face, taking in every word of his. That sounded just about right.. Though, that description could apply to Hana as well. So it seemed Youma and Hana had a lot more in common than she'd thought.. Heh. The kunoichi returned to cutting the vegetables, her fringe casting a shadow over her face. Then all of a sudden, his words changed.. Turning against her. And now he wanted an explanation. Had Hana been listening intently from the start or looking him in the eye, she might've flinched. However, she had turned back to chopping when the words fell upon her ears. Her knife's chopping came to a halt as she looked up out the window, as if in thought. "What happened..? There's not much to say really.." She skipped around the issue for a moment before realising he would probably push on for a reason. "She just came to wrong conclusion that there was something between you and I.. Something more than friendship." She resumed cutting the vegetables at a steady pace. "Then she just yanked the bento away from me and threatened me not to touch you or that she'd .. kill me." Her voice was emotionless and matched the seriousness in the air. "That was all." It was the truth after all. No-one could say she was lying. She simply stated what had occurred, which is what he wanted. She couldn't be blamed for not adding her underlying intentions because it hadn't been brought up. At least, that was how Hana saw it. "Maybe the truth behind it all is that .. she's jealous? Why else would she do and say such things to me?" Edited by Slyte, Dec 16 2011, 11:56 AM.

... Well. Whatever he had expected from her as an answer, it's definitely not that. He couldn't help but just... stand there, blinking the facts away in confusion and was a bit dumbstruck. And it really took a while before he could actually respond to the answer, albeit with a somewhat disappointing response. "I... see..." He supposed, that was the right answer. ...Oh, come on. What was he supposed to say when he had just been told that someone... someone... Er... Come to think of it, what's Youma to him, really? Well, if someone random asks him that question, his answer would simply be "A friend and a freeloader,". But is that really it? I mean... that's a pretty funny word to use, 'jealous'... Na, this isn't a problem of what he thinks of her. This is a problem of what she thinks of him. What had he done that could warrant that much reaction from Youma earlier? ...Or maybe he's overthinking it. He scratched his head, kept silent for a few more moments, still a bit unsure of what he was supposed to say or do in response to that. After thinking about it for a bit too long that the curry was starting to bubble and dry up, he said, "I'll talk to her about it," He put out the fire. Okay, if she had been expecting some other reaction from him like... I dunno, outrage, or anger, or disappointment... then she would be thoroughly disappointed herself. His answer had been... plain, at best. Mostly because he still didn't know how to answer to that. More silence. Before he finally broke it by saying, "...There's nothing more between us, other than friends, right?" Why is he asking that now? |

Eh? Hana looked up at Seth in surprise. So.. there didn't seem to be anything between Seth and Youma.. at least, not from his side. He seemed quite shocked, maybe even startled at her idea. But she had reacted so harshly and defensively.. How could her theory be anything but true? She smiled to herself as she finished up cutting the vegetables. This was interesting.. But Hana felt reluctant to continue this game. She wanted to be as less emotionally attached to this as possible, she just wanted Seth. Anything else wouldn't be her concern. Yet, she was already in this deep.. Seth voiced his solution to the problem which was to talk to her. Well, whatever. Since realising how far she had already gone she was suddenly wary of how she chose to act. It had nothing to do with her so she really couldn't care less. Hana's response was simply to nod, filling the bento boxes with rice. Then, his question. "...There's nothing more between us, other than friends, right?" Hmmm.. Hana thought. What should she say? She couldn't come clean, at least not this early. If she said they were just friends then he probably wouldn't think of her that way. If she said she was interested, he might be put off. What exactly could she say..? "Ano sa, can we talk about this some other time? It seems like we're running late.." she said with a sweatdrop, pointing up at the clock on the wall. Hana had almost broken a sweat there. Seems like she was saved by the bell.. or rather, clock.. |

Wait, say what? How could they be late for- Unless of course, the clock hadn't moved at all since the last time he set his eyes on it. Which was... when she first came to his room this morning. Who knows just how many minutes or hours that clock hand would have covered had they been moving. "Then, why the heck are we still standing here making lunches?!" Lucky her. As he darted out of the room in panic, not wanting this to be his thirty seventh time being late to class, everything in his mind that concerns earlier event had been completely wiped out. Until another time, that is. Yea, they're just friends. Nothing more, nothing less, right? They've only known each other for two days, after all. Youma never came to class that day. |
