WHY HELLO THAR, clearly it's that time of the year where we start to think about our moral values, snuggling with our loved ones, playing with the cold snow (if you have any), and of course, COMMERCIALISM! That being said, it is sad for me to announce that I have not been able to buy ANYTHING on Steam that pertains to gifting others. However, this brings a new idea upon me as to what to do with Steam (and money that was absolutely not stolen by Jone/Jane Doe) concerning the joy of giving things away! A picture contest, as I dare say, shall be conducted to see who gets what they want. Think of it as the opposite of what the stereotypical grandmother does for you (not that I'm specifically targeting anyone's grandmother, or anything); rather than getting Anyway, let me get back on track before I run amok with STUFF. Picture contest! Cook up and submit a picture for a chance to get free stuff of your choice! Make it with any tool, with any materials, with any theme (appropriate internet memes applicable as well), as long as it is appropriate. And by appropriate I mean that you wouldn't mind showing it off to the police without much doubt as to whether you'll be in prison within a heartbeat or not. Just be original and appropriate, that's all. Submitted pictures will be evaluated by me, along with some outsider input. There will be first, second, and third placement awards, all consisting of a purchase of a game at my cost. First place winner will be allowed to pick a Steam product with a price range of $70 or below, or a free copy of Minecraft. Second place will be allowed to pick a Steam product of $40 or below, or a free copy of Minecraft. Third place will be allowed to pick a Steam product of $30 or below, or a free copy of Minecraft. Depending on the amount of pictures submitted, the final number of awards vary, in order to promote quality pictures. The requirements are the following:
All pictures must be submitted by December 25th, 1200 hours, in the good 'ol Californian timezone. I know there's a lot of you folks out there that are nifty with making pictures (whether it be in Photoshop, with hand drawings, or even both), so I do dearly hope that there will be some neat things when I come back! O; So get up your mouse/pen/pencil/brush/can, if you dare, and remember to enjoy the holiday season! Or whatever the hell people say these days... |

After much debating with my fellow colleagues, some random, inconspicuous people folk from Facebook, Steam, and the streets, we have reached our conclusions as to the winners of this holiday season's Winter Picture Contest. First place we have Captain's Christmas Tree (untitled)! Many of the judges were taken aback at Captain's handiwork and seemingly precise drawing. The retro pixel style appealed to most of us, and we found the theme to be easily understandable. We agreed that a bg might have added to it's charms, but the presents were settling enough to allow the tree to stand out. Other than its size issue, we found no major error with Captain's image. Congratulations once again, Cap! Taking second we have Pierrot, whose picture appears to be based off of the de-motivational posters we oh so love to see on the internet. It was immediately clear to us that the use of layering was a plus side into making 'Spider-Princess' (on a unicorn) appear to be what we believed to be intended—creepy. But in this scenario, however, some of us found it to be confusing (and admitted they were twelve-year old boys), while others found it to be amusing. And some even found it horrifying. But the majority of us were somehow able to reach the conclusion that the Spider-Princess (on a unicorn) was perhaps a bit too random, despite my own personal opinions on the matter. Congratulations once again folks, and thank you for participating in this year's Winter Pitcure Contest. PM me the gifts you want within your respective price ranges, and I shall see to it that you shall get your prize ASAP. I hope that you all, and everyone else out there, shall have joyful days for the rest of the holiday season and new year! |
