There's evil in your heart .. and it wants out to play.
It had literally just been yesterday when the raven-haired high schooler had met Seth and offered to help him out with his problem. A huge debt had been left in his lap thanks to his lady friend. But that was a good thing, now Hana had an opportunity to get to know Seth. She silently thanked the mysterious woman, whose name she never found out, with a grin. School had just finished in little over an hour ago and the time they had agreed to meet up at Majikku Mall was fast approaching.

Hana entered the mall precariously, having never been inside before. But that wasn't important.. It was a mall so there were bound to be stores looking to hire. Plus Christmas was coming soon and they'd have those seasonal job vacancies up. Looking around, Hana could already spot one or two job vacancy notices pinned up against windows. This was perfect! This was going to be a piece of cake!

Walking into the closest store with the notice, she walked towards the store clerk. "Hi, I'd like to take up a job position here?" she asked in her most charming voice, smiling as she did so. "My name is Nakamura Hana. I'd like to start today, if possible." The clerk looked on at Hana in surprise. "Oh, alright.." he said, jotting down her name on a piece of paper. "I'll go through what you're expected to do.."

Hana emerged the store in her employee uniform. So far so good. After she had told her employer about Seth also looking for a job, he had let her go to find him. She was told she had 20 minutes. Hopefully Seth would arrive in time.. She fixed her hair and smoothed down her uniform as she looked for him, wanting to look her best. She might as well try to win him over with her looks too..

It would be quite a lucky break for her, for she didn't have to look around for long to find him. In fact, the moment she stepped out of the store she would immediately bump into him. "Uwah! Uh... hey, watch where you're going..."

Lucky her, he had been here at the mall even before she was here. Nobody knows just how fast he could get here, or how long he had already been here, but he certainly was here before her. Peculiarly in his official butler uniform, which he had dubbed as his. 'work clothes'. It's sorta convenient if he were to admit it, appearing tidy and clean without looking too formal. However despite his somewhat refined outer appearance, the same thing couldn't be said for his expression. "Er... was I late...?" He said in a... he sounds strained for some reason... He was breathing hard, his face a bit damp from sweat, his face a bit red...

"Oh... i-is this the one?" He said, turning around to face the clothing store, standing somewhat unsteadily on his feet. The smile on his face though... it looked as though it was forced. "Cool, I was... erhm," He cleared his throat, taking a deep breath and sighing loudly. "Alright! Let's... let's get to work, shall we?" He seemed to be avoiding looking at her though, and was focusing very hard on the counter in the shop.

As soon as she bumped into someone, an indignant expression took over her features. "Hey yo--" The moment Hana realised the person she had bumped into was none other than the boy she had been looking for, she instantly dropped her look. "I was just about to look for you," she informed him. Ahhhh, Seth looked so charming in a suit! Her cheeks slightly pinkened as she looked over his outfit in approval. Though he looked like he had just run a marathon.

"Are you okay, Seth? Here, have a drink," she said as she handed him a bottle of water. "Did you run here?" the girl asked, curious as to why he was so out of breath. The way he was talking was weird too.. As if he was nervous. Eh.. How strange.. And it seemed as if he was avoiding looking at her too? "Seeeeth?" she said in a melodious tone, leaning her body to the side so she filled more of his field of vision.

"Alright you two, time's up. Your name is Seth Ryouga, right? Hana gave me your details. Now here's what you'll be doing around here.." As their boss started detailing their instructions, Hana glanced at Seth slyly. Could it be the reason he appeared so disheveled was because of her? Well, there was only one way to find out~ "Got that? Alright, if you need any help I'll be in the back room."

As soon as the manager was out of sight, Hana slinked over to Seth. "You didn't finish talking earlier.." Her slender digits pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose rather slowly. " 'I was..' what?" She stepped a bit closer, flashing him an enticing smile. In truth, Hana couldn't care less what the end of that sentence was. She was simply testing out her theory..

"Ah... Nothing, it was nothing..." He said hastily, taking the water bottle but didn't bother to drink from it at all, still avoiding and ignoring her for the moment. No, it wasn't exactly because of her that he looked so worn down and disheveled. Well, maybe a little bit but mostly not. He doesn't look too keen to care about anything else for now other than to get to work quick. Whatever her theory was, she wouldn't have the chance to test it out evn further as he quickly sidestepped her and went to the back. Before stopping and went to the front. To greet a conveniently appearing customer.

It's not just that he was nervous. Maybe it was something else. He looked somewhat flustered when dealing with the customer, even if he was handling his job well enough like any good clothing store attendant.

...Okay, let's be honest. He doesn't look too good. Exhausted, even?

Weird. Really weird. He was still avoiding her. Hana wouldn't be able to warm up to him if he was going to ignore her! But if she tried to grab his attention, he probably would suspect something. Well, whatever. It was no use pondering about it. She would just carry on and earn some moolah to help him out. She didn't want to act too worried and all suspicious. But that wasn't her character! Hana remembered the face she had put on for him. Sigh. This better be worth it..

"Seth," she approached him as the customer conveniently left. "What's up?" she asked seriously, eying him. Why was he so reluctant to share what he was doing before he came here. Then the pieces suddenly clicked. "Could it be you were at another job before you came here?" It explained the worn out expression he couldn't hide. Even that smile looked tired.

Hana smiled at the customers as they entered. She wanted to hear Seth's answer before she helped the customers. It really looked like Seth needed it more.

Owah, how did she... blergh. That one was right on the spot. He couldn't really deny her like that. It was after all, the truth. But there's no way he'd let her know that. Not when he expected her to tell him off for working too hard just to pay off a debt. No way he's letting someone else do his job for him. "Iya... no way, that's ridiculous," He said with a nervous smile, waving his hand in dismissal. "I was at school, wasn't I?" Well, that much is sorta. How was he able to get to another job before this one right after school? Unless of course, he had been, you know, working all-night, then went to school and then here without any rest...

Dude's crazy. How the heck was he able to live like that?

"Now, can't slack off, we've got work to do!"
He said in an attempt of a more cheery disposition, giving her one more reassuring smile before turning around to greet the customer. Or at least, tried to. He barely spun around the spot before his knees suddenly gave away, causing him to fall into Hana, completely losing his consciousness.

There was a somewhat brief pause. Hana looked at him unsurely as he answered. Her suspicion of Seth grew even more with his nervous reply. Yet it was true. How could he have been at another job if he was at school? Still, something seemed off. He was definitely exhausted, she could see it in him. He had probably been working before school, perhaps all through last night. If that was the case then it was no wonder.

"Now, can't slack off, we've got work to do!"

Hana was about to say something but was silenced by his smile. Was this really okay..? No, of course he wasn't. But what could she say to make him stop and rest? She looked up at the back of his head when suddenly, the customer gasped simultaneously as Seth fell on top of her, sending both of them crashing to the ground as his body had her pinned beneath him.

"What happened? I heard som-- Oh my!" The manager rushed over and peeled him off of her as she scooted away and grabbed one of Seth's arms, wrapping it around her shoulder. "Do you mind helping me out here? I can't exactly carry him myself.." she asked the manager with a nervous smile. He nodded quite a few times, still in shock at Seth's sudden collapse.

"Geez.." Hana muttered under her breath, gazing at Seth's sleeping face. To go so far as to overwork himself.. It wasn't like there was a deadline he had to meet for the debt! But.. Hana smiled. He was willing to go this far to help out his friend. He was so kind. Not that it mattered..

She placed the drink bottle on the table beside the bed. Hmm.. She wondered when he'd wake up? It was kind of boring. Maybe she should just leave him a note and go back to work so he wouldn't feel compulsed to get up and start working again. But maybe doing that would make him come after her.. Ahhh, it was so boring.

Her eyes fell on Seth again. He looked so cute! Maybe she could steal a kiss from him? So weak and vulnerable.. AHHH! The situation just begged her to take advantage of him. She leaned over the bed, hovering over him as she stared at him. Her cheeks blushed profusely as she turned away, covering her face. No, no! She couldn't! She had to resist!

Yea, she really should have just left him a note and went back to work. While she was being too busy flustering around like some innocent love-struck damsel a groan came from the bed as Seth stirred awake. "Owah... wait... what?" A bit confused as he pushed himself up to sitting position, glancing around the place that... seemed to be an office or some sort. With a bed, apparently. What sort of person would have a bed in an office...?

"Wait, ugh... what happened...?" He asked, noticing Hana standing there next to the bed, acting in a peculiarly weird manner. Well, whatever that's not the point at the moment. "Damn, my head hurts... uh... where are we?" He hissed slightly in pain, rubbing his throbbing head. As though working the whole night last night wasn't enough, he had already taken on more than the reasonable amount of jobs even before this. The entire burden stacked up and had finally decided to take him down today.

No, this won't do, he's got to get back to work. Attempting to ignore his still lethargic body and mind he swung his legs off the bed, intending to get off and do something productive instead of just sitting here and sleep while Hana does all the work... That's ridiculous, how could he just let someone he barely knew for a day take his responsibility?

Hana snapped out of her fluster as soon as the groan escaped Seth. She looked over at him and straightened herself out, as if she was never fooling around just before. "Stay there," she instructed, walking over to him and gently pushing him back into a lying position. His fatigued body followed her guidance loyally, not being able to resist her due to how rest-deprived it had been. Of course, Seth had reacted just as she expected. But he couldn't go back to work, not how he was now.

"You passed out. You've been overworking your body too much!"she cried. Was that worry in her voice? Oh yes, of course. She was acting. "Anyway, you need to rest up, drink some water and there's some aspirin on the table for the headache. Stay put, alright? That debt isn't piling up or anything so relax! Try to get some sleep." She smiled hesitantly at him as she got up and rested her hand on the doorknob. "Just leave this to me, okay?" Turning the doorknob, she disappeared behind it as it closed with a soft click.

"Okay, good work." Hana grinned at the manager as he nodded at her, prompting her to go to the small office at the back where Seth was. It hadn't been much long since she left the room, really. About 1 hour.. maybe even half? Nonetheless, she had been anxious to return to the room and check up on Seth. "Seth?" she called out as she entered the room.

"Geh, dammit what horrible timing..." The moment she opened the door she would find Seth standing right in front of the door, his hand outstretched to get the doorknob. It was fairly obvious that he got restless just lying down on bed and had attempted to sneak out to get some work done. Though he hadn't expected to be caught even before he could get out. "Ah, Hana!" He gave a nervous laugh as he quickly turned on the spot, glancing around to find a suitable excuse for not resting. "I was uh... just going out to get some drink!"

Yea, he's a terrible liar.

A stern look was shot at Seth. "Take this seriously!" she said gruffly, "You actually collapsed earlier y'know! You need to take better care of yourself." Hana walked over and grabbed the water bottle from the table and thrust her arm towards him. "Here, take it." She crossed her arms and looked away. Geez! She wasn't his babysitter! Then it occurred to her that she was supposed to be playing nice in order for him to warm up to her.. GAKU! She visibly flinched, unsure of whether he had caught her act out. Ochitsuke! Just keep your cool and play it off.. She softened her look into a more sympathetic one before mumbling, "I just don't want you to hurt yourself.."

At that moment, the manager walked into the office/bedroom/home of some kind and looked at Seth. "Are you alright? Man, it really shocked me when you passed out! You need to take better care of yourself, Seth," he said with a worried expression. "Right? I've been telling him so but he doesn't seem to listen! ..Oh well," she shrugged as if it couldn't be helped. "Well, it's time to leave now.." Hana went over to Seth's side and slung his arm around her shoulder. "I guess we'll be seeing you tomorrow?"

The manager smiled and replied cheerfully, "I hope so!" The two students made their way out of the store in silence. "So.. Why did you start overworking yourself?" Hana couldn't make sense of it. There was no rush, no reason for him to do so. There was no deadline either.. Plus, with Hana working too they could get the debt paid twice as fast than if Seth was working alone. So why..?

Lucky her, he didn't take too much notice in it. Mostly because he was too taken-aback by the sudden raise in her voice. Don't tell him she really was worried about him? He felt a slight pang of guilt as he lowered his look, opting to stare at his shoes instead. Really, it was easier to examine how he tied the knot on his shoes than to look at the worried figure of Hana.

The manager came in at the perfect time to break the tension, Seth raised his head the moment the door opened. He kept silent as the two exchanged words, and was a bit surprised when she grabbed and flung his arm around her neck, forcefully steering him out of the shop without his consent. "Ah-hey, wait, we're not done--!" To late, she's out of the store. And from the looks of it Hana's not taking anything else from him as an answer.

He went silent for a moment when she questioned him, trying to pick the best words to express his thoughts. For one, he'd been taking even more jobs than this time even before the debt, but mostly for mundane reason so he couldn't really use that as an excuse. Maybe it's because he didn't want her to work for it, so that's why he worked extra hard so that she wouldn't have to? "That's what I should be asking you," Apparently he came to a different decision regarding his answer, in the form of a counter-question. "Why are you trying to help me so much? Yesterday you went to take the debt for your own, and now you're saying you want to help me pay my debt," He wanted reason. They barely knew each other and she's already doing this much for someone who could be considered an almost-stranger?

Hana looked at Seth in surprise. He'd turned her own question against her. She looked serious as she faced forward again as they walked. What could she say? That she was only doing this so Seth could become her boytoy? Of course not. "I just want you to like me." Ah!! No! She couldn't say that! She wanted to take back her words as soon as she said them. Her heart pounded as she thought furiously as to how to fix it. But she could save it easily since the meaning of 'like' in that sentence was uncertain.. With a pause and a forced smile, she added naturally, "I don't have any friends.. I've never had any friends before."

What she said was true. She'd never had to befriend anyone before and her clan had felt more like family. When they were eliminated, Hana had went from city to city alone. Friends.. The thought had never even crossed her mind before. It felt unnecessary and would probably only hinder her. Whether what she said next was the truth or not was ambiguous. "I don't know how to keep them.. I don't know what to do to make them stay. I thought that if I did this you wouldn't leave me.. I'm sorry if I bothered you." She laughed nervously. Would he believe her..?

It was actually very well played. The hesitation in her voice, the serious expression, the deliberately forceful smile she had taken on her face, it was almost as though she was telling the truth. Which she is, of course, but even if she was lying he wouldn't be able to tell. Seth took a glance at her as she kept her gaze forward, a bit unsure of how to react to that. Not that he didn't know, but... he just wondered if it would be enough.

...Screw it.

"You're an idiot you know that," He said with a huff, turning his face away from her with a sigh. "Aren't we already friends?"

He avoided looking at her, feeling that this is probably going to be more troublesome than it's worth. But... heck, why not? Maybe it's just because he's too nice for his own good.

Hana let out the breath that she had been holding onto unconsciously. Seems like he didn't suspect a thing.. She couldn't help but smile at this, and it played out well for the situation as well. How convenient~ "We are..?" she repeated with a hopeful tone. She let out a sigh of relief. "I'm glad.." she grinned widely. So he already considered her a friend.. Everything was going pretty well!

"But this just gives me even more reason to help you out! Because it's what friends do right?" she looked at him with a beam. "Or maybe I've been watching too much anime?" Hana laughed airily. This was .. nice. Compared to how she used to live not so long ago.. Even if she was showered with love from her various boyfriends.. It still felt sort of lonely. Maybe having friends wasn't so bad?

Heh, just kidding.
