The Roommate from Hell

Mira took her luggage into her room, and began to unpack, leaving her bedroom dorm open. She places her giant wooden scythe in a corner, as for the real deal, she can summon Ash Edge when she needs to summon Ash Edge.

Despite being a demon, having been born and raised in Hell, being the blood daughter of none other than the devil himself, not to mention the whole 'Fourth Horsewoman of the Apocalypse' deal she had rejected, she didn't have one infernal object with her, no magical trinkets with her either, unless you counted Ash Edge that is.

Still, she hoped she could simply pass for a gifted human. There would be plenty of people that hate demons, more people who wouldn't except Old Scratch's daughter, and pretty much nobody who'd care to tolerate, let alone befriend, someone who's former job was supposed to involve destroying the world. And she could just imagine all the 'shoot first, ask questions later' types who wouldn't care to listen to her explain that she'd ended the end of the world she was supposed to have helped started.

Still, she finished putting her clothes away before wheeled her rolling suitcases into the closet.

As she was putting her suitcases in the closet, a yell could be heard in the dorms. It sounded like someone was falling. As the sound got louder, a a hole appeared in the ceiling. Or rather, the ceiling started to disappear. "Shoot shoot shoot shoot!"said the yelling voice. The insulation changed into a net and caught something, slowing its descent to drop it gently on the floor. The hole was now gone. It was a girl that had fallen through the ceiling. She dusted herself off and looked around. "Well if I'm gonna fall through the Yuki dorms, I guess it is best that I end up here. Note to self, no poetry about falling when sitting on the roof,"she said and having satisfied herself that everything was in order, she finally noticed the other "girl" there. "You must be my first year roommate. Sorry about dropping in like that. I'm usually more careful. I've been a bit distracted lately,"she said with a laugh.

And then something that even the Fourth Horsewoman didn't expect to happen... someone fell through her roof.

"Gyah!" Mira jumped back, a white flash, and the girl had summoned her giant scythe, Ash Edge, almost reflexively.

When she saw that she the girl who fell through her roof was someone who wasn't her enemy, she promptly unsummoned her weapon. The demoness took a deep breath. Her best guess was that the girl lost control of her powers for a moment.

"I guess I should be expecting things like this." she told her "I'm Mira Morningstar, nice to meet you. And next time, feel free to use the door instead of the ceiling. It's far less likely to give me a heart attack.

Sho rubbed the back of her head and laughed. "Sorry about that. So, I take it you had no problem finding the room and unpacking?"she asked, noticing the wooden scythe on the wall. "I'm Shokyo Sakusei, but most people just call me Sho,"she said with a polite bow. "What is your name?"

"Found my room fine, and my luggage wasn't much difficulty." she told Sho.

She'd said it once before, but she didn't have any problem with saying it again. She might start getting a bit irritated if she had to repeat herself again after that though.

"I'm Mira Morningstar." she told her.

Might as well get the whole dorm thing squared away. Over the years Kimi had just become accustomed to being alone. The only time she had ever not been alone was after the second world war when she offered her... Unique services to the new Jewish state. Kidon was what they were called. The only time, brief as it was, that she felt safe. She and her cell had but one goal; the total extermination of any remaining Nazis.

That, however, was another life and another world, as evidenced by girls falling through the ceiling, others summoning scythes, and all other manner of strange and fascinating inhabitants. Her mouth curled into a small smile as she looked around at the accommodations. Her very newly acquired interpersonal skills would be greatly tested here.

Her brooding manner took hold once again as she thought back on everything she had seen thus far. The more she thought about the more her suspicions rose about the true nature of the Wo Shing Society. For a war between humans and the super powered one would expect tensions to be high in a place like this...

Everything was fishy. Kimi snapped out of it long enough to offer a weak smile at her two roomies.

"Hi, names Nisse. Nisse Kissui, just transferred here..." She was going to add where from but in her haste she hadn't checked where the girl came from. That was sloppy and careless.

Kimi would probably find an informal ally with Mira, on the subject of 'keep the details hidden'. Mira had no interest in talking about having just transferred from Hell to Hyakuji. She might mention her home was always warm, her family was prominent there, and the like. But nothing too specific. Still, despite being the 4th Horsewoman, she still wouldn't approve of her whole nuclear holocaust thing. She'd gradually went from 'evil demon princess' to 'demon princess' to 'vaguely heroic demon', over time.

"Hey Nise, I'm Mira. Mira Morningstar." she told her.

More roommates meant more questions. But Mira intended to try to live life as normally as possible. As long as she could keep people from finding out details of her Pre-Hyakuji past, or the unsavory tidbits about who she is, she could safely and happily live here.

"A pleasure," she replied bowing slightly to the girl. Looking around their luggage caught her eye as it just suddenly hit her she had left her things in the lobby. Tucked away just in case someone might try something. She hoped no one would be here so she could properly go through her newly acquired belongings. No such luck.

Turning away she quickly returned to the lobby for her suitcase and briefcase. The suitcase being Nise's and the brief case being hers. Reentering the room she merely shrugged her shoulders and walked to one of the remaining rooms. She would have to wait until they were asleep or went out to get a better picture of her new things.

Mira scurried to think of a conversation that didn't have the risk of blowing her own identity.

"So, where are you from? No, the answer for me would be Hell. What's your family like? No, that would end with 'my father is the devil'. What about your interests. Ok, I like fighting, but I'd guess it's 'normal'... normal by comparison, that is." she thought.

"So, what do you usually do for fun?" Mira asked.

"Hmm?" Was she talking to her? Looking up it would seem she was. Hell it'd been what... At least 40 years since the last time she'd done anything just for fun. The majority of her life had been spent seeking justice. Or vengeance depending upon how you wanted to look at.

"Uhm... I don't really know to be honest. Most of my life wasn't up to me. It was laid out before me when I was twen--" She really needed a drink; collect her thoughts. She hadn't felt the same ever since joining with the WSS. Hell she nearly came out and told them she was an imposter. Ok not that drastic but still.

"What do you do?" Genuine interest was in her voice. For all she knew this girl wasn't some kind of demonic horseman apocalypse bringer/ender and could actually enlighten her upon what 'normal' people consider fun.

Mira was slightly curious about what 'Nisse' was talking about. However, she didn't want to ask too many questions. If she did, it might set the precedent that it was ok to ask her too many question.

"Well, I personally enjoy fighting." she explains "I have a scythe Ash Edge, which is my spirit weapon. But I guess if I were to spar, I'd use the wooden practice scythe in the corner."

She takes a breath.

"I guess it's a good thing that I enjoy it, Dad sorta felt it was my destiny to fight anyways." she explained, everyone else probably having to clue who exactly who her father was.

Sho was unaware that she was the only actually normal student here......if you call her normal that is. She realized she had spaced out again. "Sorry, I spaced out. I'm Sho, nice to meet you,"she said with a bow.

Mira mentioned her father got her into fighting. "Is your father some sort of martial artist or something?"

"He isn't a martial artist, he may have had some martial arts training, I dunno, I never asked." she told her "He's just really overbearing. I tried to play the obedient little girl who does whatever her father tells her to do at first, but recently, I decided I'd had enough, and came here instead."

Technically, every thing she'd said in her last paragraph was true, she just didn't reveal any of the 'special' details. It's not like she couldn't lie, her father being the 'Prince of Lies', she could be a very skillful liar when she wanted to be. But she'd rather not lie to her new friends where she didn't feel that it wouldn't bring her a step forward to being confronted by either an angry mob of super powered people... and maybe some clerics too.

"Look, I'd just rather not talk about my Dad." she explained. The less they talked about her Dad, the less she had to dance around the topics that could help them figure out who exactly he was.

"Nice to make your acquaintance Sho, I'm Nise," Kimi replied bowing her head slightly. Listening as Mira talked she noted her avoidance of specific details when she talked and her reluctance to talk about her father.

'If that's the case hopefully me and her can have a mutual agreement about the past...'

"So, you're off doing your own thing then? It must be nice to strike off on your own, huh?" Looking between the pair she felt this could be a good situation for the three of them.

"And I don't mind a bit of fighting myself. A good dust up always makes me feel better," she replied with a curled up smile. Always good to practice and hone your technique.

"I haven't done much fighting myself, but I've been learning,"Sho replied. It was obvious that the other girls had some dark secrets, but Sho didn't feel like prying. So she moved the conversation to a much more typical topic amongst girl their supposed age. "So, have any of you seen the city? Been to the shops or the mall?"she asked. She needed to lighten the mood a bit.
