Meteor On Ready?

Conflict. Terado's words went into her ears but she was looking beyond him to the path through the trees Aisia had fled into. The whole bit about negativity, about give and take, about believing in something strong enough to overcome anything. All of it entered her mind but was left unprocessed, to be listened to later. She didn't budge when his heavy hand came down on her shoulder nor when he finally retreated to the treetops and left her alone in the cool air. Her mind was too busy attacking itself for an answer to deal with those things right now. The battle was one of the very beliefs Terado had brought into question. Trust was important and Aisia had clearly said she wanted to be alone. She had gotten angry when she found out Ayane had followed her anyway. So, was it not the right decision to turn and go home, leaving Aisia to her own devices? The other faction rejected that logic, holding firm the belief that when someone you love was in tears, you have to try to be by their side. Even if they reject your presence, even if they tell you they want to be alone, the truth is that they want someone to be there to share some of the burden, to let them know that the next day will be that much brighter than today. She should be at Aisia's side no matter what Aisia might say. The trouble was, Terado was right. He may have been talking about Aisia and not Ayane, but he was right about how strongly one clung to their convictions. Ayane was much too stunned by Aisia's unintentional jab to truly believe in herself, to believe in her desire to run as fast as her legs could carry her into the woods and find the girl who was crying by herself. Find her and hug her tightly. That was what she wanted, but she didn't have the faith to follow through. So instead, she dropped to her knees and gazed out across the water. "What... am I supposed to do... Damn it... Damn it...... Damn it!" Looking back on it later, she might have to mark this moment as the omen of things to come. Terado's words would resonate within her memories, pointing out that it was the smallest of things which are overlooked and sprawl into something much more troublesome when left unchecked. A negative seed planted in the mind is a terrible thing. It poisons it, makes one think increasingly negatively about anything and everything. She should have noticed it then, before it was too late. |
