The immediate area of the incident was easy enough to find. Afterall, it was hard to miss a large crater, and the smoke from the burning debris around them.

The pair of black humvee came to a rapid halt surrounding the 3 of them, a riotrooper on each turret gun trained in their general direction. The pintle mounted weapons were strange, unlike what a regular humvee had. Instead of a standard M2 .50 Calibre Machine Gun as standard, it seemed instead to be some sort of 5-barrel gatling weapon, a faint humming as the barrels spooled in readiness.

Another 4 bikes halted around them, their riders quickly dismounting in concert with a pair from each of the vehicles. Orders were barked rapidly to surround the trio, as their weapons were trained roughly towards them, establishing a perimeter like a police SAT unit.

Rather than the standard combination Dagger/Pulse Pistol that was the Axel RayGun, these seemed larger, longer, more like rifles and swords. Yellow pinstripes adorned the side of the uniforms, and the rusty brass colours were instead a subdued, unpolished gold.

Shadow.

BOARD's special missions unit, dispatched only on missions of importance. Their skills were beyond that of the mere rank and file of the now depleted riotrooper corps. Their arrival also heralded the arrival of...

A silver bike came to a rapid stop some dozen or so metres away, it's driver took off her helmet, flicking her hair to straight it back out as her eyes locked onto the people amidst the messy aftermath.

Aisia's bloody hand, Saito's posture, and the short woman who looked very displeased to be there.

The situational assessment was, given the nature and temperment of the people around, that it was related to Aisia's actions. She got up from the bike, and took several steps towards the platinum blonde young lady.

"I would have hoped you of all people would have known better than to start a battle here." she said sternly, the troops around her seeming to take aim in case of a breakout of hostilities "Stand down immediately."

"Apologize!?" Louise shrieked in French, the thought simply too ridiculous to process without repeating it aloud. "Hmph! I don't have anything to apologize for, she's just lucky she didn't actually attack me! Now come along, you and I need to--"

That was when the situation escalated abruptly. Suddenly the street was sealed off by heavily-armed black humvees and a bunch of masked men with rifles marched into position aiming their weapons towards the three on the sidewalk. Had Louise, Saito and Aisia been paying more attention to their surroundings they would've noticed that for the past two minutes or so there hadn't been a single pedestrian on the sidewalks or any cars on the street. Now the reason was clear--it was so they could be surrounded.

Apparently leading this assault squad was a tall, lanky woman who arrived on the scene riding a motorcycle. Louise didn't know who she was but it meant that there was yet one more woman here. She didn't like to be outnumbered, she didn't like Miyuki's height and she especially didn't like her bust. As if Miyuki didn't have enough negative points in Louise's eyes, she too spoke that awful Japanese!

Wait, I know! Louise thought with a flash of inspiration, once more reaching for her wand. I can just do what I did to Saito to all of them, then it won't be a problem! Let's see, what was it again? I think I was trying to make him be quiet, so... was it Ansul, in, yan? Or... wait. Bel, yan, in? Raising the wand skyward and picturing Aisia and Miyuki in her mind, she tried to remember the spell aloud so she could cast it. "A-Ansul... bel... in...!"

It was wrong. She didn't know it, but considering her track record with any magic that fell outside of the Void element it should have been obvious. The question then would be if someone would stop her before she caused the whole city block to get blown skyward!

Well, shit. the police arriving had been a very real worry perched in the very back of Saito's mind the entire time, but this was all sorts of overkill. Evidently two giant explosions were more than the local PD thought that they could handle, even if this was Hyakuji, so the big guns had been called in with a blank cheque. BOARD's elite Shadow team looked more like a professional army than an emergency response team, what with the black Hummvees and being armed to the teeth with whatever they could find, an image no doubt reinforced by their commanding officer.

Captain Takamachi was an unrelenting hardass even at the best of times, and this certainly wasn't one of them, which probably explained why Saito turned to face her and snapped off a brisk salute. Being forced to take crappy punishment details was motivation enough to prevent his usual brand of smartassery.... at least when he was caught red-handed defending the very source of this incident.

"Hey, uh, aibou. Hate to rain on your parade, but you should probably keep an eye on the little miss."

"My apologies, sir, just a personal issue that got a little out of hand. I should be able to handle it from here, though," the boy in the blue called out to the stern woman, completely oblivious to what Louise or Del were saying until the first syllable of the former's Silence spell hit his ears and send a massive chill down his spine. Considering that was the first Void spell he had ever heard (not to mention been hit with), it still managed to make his blood run cold when he remembered just how it had turned out that first time. And in this situation..... that result would have even worse consequences!

"<Would you just calm down!? You don't have to apologise if you don't want to, but stop trying to blow people up!>" he pleaded, grabbing Louise's wand hand with his left and resheathing Del so that he could place his right hand on her other shoulder. The pink-haired lass also had Zero common sense by the looks of it, so it looked like he'd have to resort to fighting dirty.

"<What will it take to get you to forgive these commoners and talk, hmmm~?>" Saito whispered as he drew even closer, his lips brushing against Louise's ear as he spoke, only to slide even lower and start nibbling at her neck when he finished. This was either going to end in a ceasefire or his testicles finding a new home with a fantastic view of his ribcage, but either way she'd be far too distracted to finish casting her spell and make this situation even worse.

Even if he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, the boy's definitely committed. Or should be committed. Actually, maybe even a little bit of both.

Aisia sighed when Miyuki arrived and told her to stand down, complete with all shadow members pointing their guns at her. She raised her hands up in exasperation.
"As you can see, Takamachi-san, I've been standing down for the past few moments, having been spurred to action only as an act of self-defense. Sorry to disappoint you, but for once, I'm not 'trying to blow shit up', so you're aiming at the wrong person."

There was also, a brief struggle on Louise's side, between the master and her dog over the unnecessary casting of another spell. The beginnings of said spell were briefly detected before Saito decided to wisely cockblock her through attempted rape or public display of affection, whichever way Louise was going to take it.
"Good to see you're taking my advice and controlling your bitch better, Hiraga," Aisia sneered before shaking her head. Wait, what... did she just say just now?
"Err... I mean... ugh, look, I didn't start the explosion, allright? I was merely protecting myself and Saito from an attack that SHE started, and attempted to stop her," Aisia sighed. "Are you going to blame me for this as well then?"

The sudden casting ended all pretenses and questions. The simple thought and preparation for spellcasting changed the flow of energy in an area. In that sense, an active spellcaster was among the most easily detected things to one who knew how to look.

This was why orthodox magi say 'stealth is meaningless in a magecraft duel', unless you were skilled enough to be able to conceal your own spellcasting in an open battle.

Miyuki's eyes shifted rapidly towards Louise even as Aisia was speaking. The feel and flow of the sorcery was distinct. In the brief moment of time before she opened her mouth, an analysis had already completed by the former mage killer.

The structure of such a spell was haphazard, almost forced. With the amount of prana that would be forced into it, then the result would only be a massive explosion. In that split second as Louise began, a surge of prana could be felt through the air.

The air sickened as a wordless, single action spell was cast as a counter. However, Saito's actions could scarcely have made things worse. But who could have known?

Ordinarily, a normal magus would create a counterspell by negating the output of a spell with your own equal or greater output of an opposite phase, canceling them out in a clash not unlike canceling noise. However, Miyuki was not a normal magus by any means.

Using the abilities of prana burst and reinforcement, with a glance, she had 'shot' prana directly to counter the spell by breaking down the structure with negative reinforcement. More accurately, it was a simple curse that destroyed magecraft structures. Combined with her origin and element of conclusion and void, This allowed the countering of anything below the level of a short-ritual to be dispelled with minimal effort, and even those could be countered by increasing the output.

However, with the intended target shattering rapidly under the sudden lapse of concentration, the spell, already latched to the target, would be transferred to the source of the prana. Normally, a proper magus would know to deal with the situation by rapidly cutting out the output with force to lead the backlash away from them, but a distracted amateur however...

If there was a constant in the universe it was that Louise had the devil's luck at times and Saito was often the polar opposite of such luck. In many cases he ended up taking the brunt of any situation in order to either protect her or others, sometimes without even realizing it. Either that or he simply was a dirty masochist who enjoyed all of the times Louise kicked him after he went much too far with his teasing. After all, what Familiar teased their Master? None that she knew. Damned if Saito would be the first.

So when he grabbed her hand and shoulder and leaned in saying she was trying to blow people up, at first she was only a little angry. Not at what he was doing, but rather that he was insisting she would just blow everyone up rather than successfully cast the spell she intended. He was right, but that didn't mean she agreed with it. "I'm not going to blow up--aahh!?"

Saito's lips brushed against her ear as he leaned even closer, French dribbling out of his mouth straight into her ear canal. "What will it take to get you to forgive these commoners and talk, hmmm~?" As if he hadn't quite yet given her enough reasons to physically remind him who was in a position of power in their 'relationship' he then nuzzled himself against her shoulder and kissed down her neck.

In that moment, two things happened simultaneously. It was a miracle for the timing to be so perfect. For one, Louise had not detected Miyuki's soundless cancel spell, it shooting across the distance aimed for the magic she had attempted to cast. Except that since there was no longer any magic to cancel, that anti-spell was now going to aim for the very source of her magic itself. Were she to have simply left it alone it would have made for a very uncomfortable afternoon followed by an unpleasant stay in a BOARD hospital.

However, her spellcasting had been redirected by a person, a person whose groin she now quite forcefully drove her knee into. Having refocused her psyche onto the need to teach her Familiar its place, what should have been a Void-type spell was now a command to her summoned Familiar. She didn't know it yet, but her strike against his manhood would have quite a bit more impact than she remembered. Miyuki's counter-spell surged through her magic circuits and exited into those of Saito, who would normally have been unaffected. Were he still just a snarky kid from Akihabara he wouldn't have any magic circuits for the spell to seek out.

However, Saito Hiraga was a Familiar, having his master's magic circuits quite literally burned into his body. This would likely be an experience he wouldn't soon forget, assuming he stayed conscious long enough to feel it.

"I'll never apologize to them after this disgrace! What the HELL do you think you're doing!?"

And so, in his little way, Saito Hiraga both kept the street from exploding and prevented dire magical injuries to his sworn Master. All at the cost of his own well-being.

All's well that ends well!

A knee to the crotch was definitely a painful experience in and of itself, but after having been through it a couple bajillion times it did start to lose some of its lustre. Sure, it still hurt like a son of a bitch and was guaranteed to floor him within seconds, but Saito didn't really have a low enough pain tolerance to be knocked out cold from such a hateful act. Having someone whose very existence depended on magical energy get hit directly by a counterspell, however, was the most intense pain he had ever felt. Even having a sword go through his stomach had hurt a lot less than the overwhelming burning sensation running through every nerve in his body, and that wasn't even including the nut-shot.

So imagine the surprise on Louise's face when he dropped like someone had just sliced his Achilles tendons, body briefly flinching rigid before going completely limp facedown on the floor. That little surge of prana managed to shut his entire body down before even a grunt of pain had left his lips, making it look like Louise's attack had pretty much killed the poor bastard instantly. He was still mostly conscious, but there was no way in hell he was getting back on his feet without help.

"Wow, that one would've been a little tricky to block, I'm impressed........anyone mind picking me up? The [CLANK]in' view sucks from down here!"

"... Ah."

Without further ado, Saito dropped faster than a bag of bricks. Aisia wasn't really sure what just happened, only that she felt the sudden flow of magic being diverted somewhere else, and could only assume that they ended up in Saito's balls.

"... Well, this is no longer my concern. If Saito-san wants to get his balls raised somewhere else by that uncouth person he knows, that's his problem. What you should probably know though is that I felt some kind of magical transference earlier, which is why I ended up being drawn here in the first place," Aisia explained to Miyuki. "If I'm not needed here anymore then, I have better things to do than deal with... merde like her."

Her accentuation on the word was punctuated by her pointing at Louise with an outstretched hand in the shape of a gun.
"If anyone can translate it to her, please tell her that 'I can see why Saito-san left her. Perhaps if she treated her own pets better, we wouldn't be so quick to treat her like shit. And if she ever fucks with me again...'"

BANG.

She cocked her hand back as if having shot a round and turned to walk away from them.

"Hmph. Still violent as ever, Asakura." she smirked as she walked away. "While you're being let go for now, your presence will be required later. Remember that."

Despite all this time, and the odd attempts at something resembling an olive branch, the pair had never fully gotten along.

But the situation was becoming quite clear, despite the unexpected result. It wasn't exactly common, but she'd seen the redirection of energy like that before, and, while unexpected, knew enough that it wouldn't be too serious for now.

"Sir, do we have permission open fire?" asked one of the troopers

"Do not fire until fired upon." she replied coldly.

With a simple hand gesture, Miyuki had the troopers back away slowly from the pink haired girl, though their weapons continued to be trained on Louise

"So... French is it?" she started calmly, switching languages. Though she hadn't spoken it in years, it was clear she'd learned it from someone with an upper class background. "I don't suppose you have a name, mon petit chou."

"That's the angriest I've ever seen her. I wonder how much rage fits in a tiny package." Kouta mused, finally emerging from somewhere, though had apparently been around long enough to observe a bit of what happened. He didn't intervene since there was no need for him to at this point, all he was good for was hitting things anyway, not negotiations or the like.

Though, given the circumstances, he did use one skill he did take a little pride in: lightening the mood...as such, Kouta approached the person who needed it most right now: Louise.

And oddly enough he did something absolutely no one would expect him to: speak french was well.

"You seem a little...frustrated, so I'm not going to say anything else and just give you this, miss~" Kouta stated simply, though accented, he sounded really fluent. What he was offering? One of the slices of cake he had been carrying around this whole time. "Miyuki, I saved yours too."

"...Eh!?"

She had expected Saito to perhaps curl up into the fetal position or groan loudly and curse her for once again assaulting his most precious spot, to which she would have told him that he deserved that and much more for what he had done, as usual. She had not expected him to instantly crumple lifelessly to the ground as if she had torn out his spine. Had it really been so long that he couldn't even withstand a simple hit to the groin? Now her anger was beginning to melt away into concern as she knelt down and tried to shake him by the shoulders. "Hey, what are you doing? Get up! That isn't funny!"

"...Shit..." came Aisia's voice. Or rather Louise had been ignoring Aisia's nonsense up until an actually familiar word reached her ears. Hearing her native language being spoken she looked up to see Aisia pointing a finger and thumb at her. Was she trying to imitate a wand or something? What was with the thumb, then? Of course, now that Aisia had the pink-haired mage's attention she switched back to Japanese and said something that sounded derogatory (or Louise was guessing from the look of disgust she had while saying it) before recoiling her hand back and walking off. Louise watched her go and could only think 'good riddance'.

"So... French is it?" the woman with all the troops said, now commanding Louise's attention.

"'French'? I don't know what that is but it's about time someone spoke my language," Louise replied, though she didn't sound as grateful as she actually was. This would make getting some answers so much easier. She still had her hands on Saito's shoulders protectively though her gaze was firmly locked with Miyuki's eyes.

"I don't suppose you have a name, my little pastry?" the woman continued. It was a rather... stuck-up way of asking a simple question. She didn't have to add that last part, which would have been cute if Louise had had any romantic feelings for her. Unfortunately for Miyuki, Louise harbored no such taboos. At least, not without the interference of potions or other magecraft. So instead of sounding cute, it simply sounded holier-than-thou.

Still, it was clear that at the moment, this woman held the power of the situation. Louise could probably seek shelter somewhere and prepare an explosion spell if need be, but that assumed she could actually escape those dangerous-looking armed soldiers. She didn't recognize the weapons they held but the design was distantly reminiscent of the Staff of Destruction. With that in mind, it was likely that an attempt to run would be very painful. Without Saito to act as a shield her likelihood of escaping was not good. Louise had no choice but to answer her question, no matter how insulting it was.

"Louise. Louise Françoise le Blanc de la Vallière. I have given my name, so would it not be fair to state your own?" her French was equally formal, recognizing Miyuki's position in their dialogue. It was a tense moment, being aimed at with all those unfamiliar weapons while Saito lay immobilized in front of her.

Then... the tension was broken. A man stepped through the defensive line and strode right past Miyuki, kneeling down and holding out a slice of cake on a saucer. "You seem a little...frustrated," the man spoke in her tongue, though it had a strange accent to it she could only guess was of that 'Japanese' variety, "So I'm not going to say anything else and just give you this, miss~" Then he turned to the lady with the motorcycle and held up another plate. "Miyuki, I saved yours too."

Louise nodded her thanks and took the cake, though she didn't do anything but stare at it. The way he completely ignored the tension in the air and handed her dessert out of the blue was too much of a shock to actually dig in. Not to mention Saito was still laying there right in front of her. "...Thank you," she mumbled, looking up from the cake. "You are?"

In her mind, though, she had Miyuki's first name. Or was it her last name? Hopefully the woman herself would clear that up. Either way, it was a start. From the looks of things, the chances of a cataclysmic explosion occurring here had just dropped sharply. Whether it was from Saito taking a shot to the nads, Aisia leaving or Kouta giving out free cake... that part was up in the air.

"Kouta, what did I tell you about interrupting while we're busy at work?" she sighed, though her guard didn't drop.

When her face regained it's previous composure, it seemed even chillier and less approachable than before.

"Regardless, stand aside from her, now." she commanded, as her hands signaled for the troops to fan out and arrest Louise. "For presenting a threat to the public safety, destruction of property, aggravated assault, you will be taken under our custody. Come quietly, and we promise you will be treated fairly, and your case will be heard and considered. Resist, and you will be killed without hesitation."

With their weapons plainly visible, a total of six Riotroopers, in groups of two, broke out of cover slowly approached her, with 2 of the pairs obviously providing cover for the one with the restraints.

As they went out in the open, their full array of battle gear was now fully shown to the pink-haired dilettante. Heavy rifles, with obvious space for bayonets, looking more like they were fit for battling monsters than humans. Further, a metal tube seemed to hang from the back of each of them by a strap. M72 LAW rocket launchers.

With resistance outright stated to be met with extreme force, it was clear that they could back it up, looking to have enough firepower to take down a Soviet Tank company.

"I'm on the side of those who maintain their composure and look at their situation, and I'm the enemy of idiots who initiate fights needlessly. Now, which are you, Louise Françoise le Blanc de la Vallière?"

"Kouta Azuma, as she already said." Kouta answered sheepishly, playing off Miyuki's harshness to the small girl with his usual carefree attitude. He could tell she was lost and confused...he figured the best way to keep her calm was to at least prove to her that there were in fact, nice people in this world, even if he was so out of place right now. He'd deal with the lecture later, as long as he could help.

"I'd suggest taking it easy by the way, we'll get all our questions answered faster if no one else gets hurt and we get out of public eye, right?" and with that he actually backed off to let the rest of BOARD do the work. He'd still observe but at least he showed he did in fact, care.

"Killed!? What sort of police force--" Louise began to protest only to be abruptly silenced by the appearance of the remaining Riotrooper force. She was able to see their hand-held weaponry before, but now that they advanced from behind cover she spotted the very weapon that had held a similarity to the rest--the Staff of Destruction. She couldn't remember what Saito had called it back then beyond it being a weapon from his world, but those pipe-looking things were definitely the same Staff of Destruction that had been kept under lock and key in Tristain's artifact vault. It made sense, of course--this was Saito's world.

The saucer of cake dropped from her hand, clattering to the cement. It didn't break since it was dropped from such a low height, but the cake tipped over and fell apart beyond the lip of the plate, its upper layer of frosting making contact with the sidewalk. With a little cutting it could be made acceptable for human consumption again, but removing the dirty parts from cake was hardly the first thing on Louise's mind right now. She was trying to figure out a way to survive against an army. Her usual method was unconscious in her hands.

"I'm on the side of those who maintain their composure and look at their situation, and I'm the enemy of idiots who initiate fights needlessly. Now, which are you, Louise Françoise le Blanc de la Vallière?" the 'Miyuki' person asked.

Louise wanted to move, to at least be able to stand up and offer herself for arrest with dignity as a proper aristocrat might. Her inability to do so was out of fear that even the smallest movement would make one of those soldiers fulfill Miyuki's guarantee of a swift death. Left only with the option to kneel at Saito's side and wait for the soldiers to arrest her themselves she glared daggers at their leader. Kouta's hospitality had already been forgotten in the face of murderous intent. In what country does 'resisting arrest' translate to a death sentence!?

"I'm looking at a rather imbalanced situation, Miss Miyuki," she responded, at least trying to maintain some posture. "So I don't think I have a choice in the matter. I am a mage, not an idiot." Well, some--okay, more than some--back at the academy might argue that point, but Miyuki didn't know that. "However! ...You...have to promise to take care of Saito or I'm not going anywhere with you!"

Stupid, stupid familiar! You're finally reunited with your master after all this time and you can't even save her when she's in a pinch!? Stupid Saito! Stupid, stupid, stupid!

"Agent Hiraga will be properly cared for." she assured her "I take good care of my subordinates."

The troopers were fairly courteous about the arrest. At least, As far as identical-looking, jackbooted, faceless, forces of authority went. They lifted her up carefully by the arms and took her wand. The cuffs at least, were not thoroughly uncomfortable, but they did bind her in such a way that it was impossible to reach either of her wrists with her hands.

As the troops began to take Louise away, some of the men began moving Saito out on a stretcher.

"...What a waste of cake..." Miyuki muttered under her breath
