Yukiko might or might not have noticed something when Dakota was entering her room. She seemed to be slowly losing her composure. The earlier hug had acted as an emotional thaw. She had practically been emotionally bankrupt at that point, mostly using her sheer force of will to carry herself on. It didn't change her personality. However, it had some good and some bad effects. On the good side, it lessened the pain she was feeling. On the bad, it was making it difficult to heal. The hug had given her enough of that for her old, unhealed, recent wounds to come out of their

Dakota enters her room, presumably with Yukiko.

"Well... h-here it is..." she tells her, her knees wobbling "I've already picked my room."

She's clearly fighting to stave off a breakdown. This was successful, even if barely. She was also trying to hide it on her face... this was not working at all.

She points to her room, on the far left to indicate it was the one she had chosen.

"F-feel free to pick any of the others." she tells her "I-I'm just going to watch some TV."

She sits down on the couch and flips on the TV with the remote, and with a program guide, flips to a channel with English language cartoons. She knew what was on. It was familiar... it was something she knew... it was... painful! She recalled having watched it with her parents. She flipped off the TV. It was even more painful.

She started muttering to herself, audibly at a short distance, oblivious to who might be around.

"S-stay s-s-strong Dakota. S-stay strong. Y-you've unloaded enough of y-your heavy s-stuff on Yukiko for t-today."

No presuming! Following Dakota to their dorm room she was still relieved that the government bureaucracy had at least gotten her dorm finalized. Seeing as how she was checking out tomorrow it was good they at least took care of that. And now to wait for the remainder so her transfer could be finalized.

Her good mood was put on hold as she followed Dakota into their dorm. She had been acting a tad odd for a while, ever since the dorms came into view... Closing the door behind them as she entered she was able to get a better look at Dakota. She was trying hard to keep it together but her facade was cracking.

For the first time today she was unsure about how to approach her new friend and roommate. Talking earlier was one thing due to Dakotas seemingly unflappable demeanor and composure. Now that it looked like she actually could and would breakdown Yukiko wanted to tread carefully. She's not an expert on fixing people but with her own experiences in loss she hoped she could help somewhat.

As Dakota showed her which room she picked Yukiko knew immediately which she would choose. "Too bad," Yukiko said with mock sadness in her voice. "I was wanting that one! Guess I'll just have to take the one right next door." Watching as she went to watch TV Yukiko was going to give her a minute to herself before joining her.

Opening her own door she quickly perused her accommodations. Belly flopping upon her bed she rolled over with a sigh. It would definately need some personal touches. A few personal appliances would help to round it out and give it a nice touch. Enough alone time though!

Sprining out of bed she quickly rounded the corners between their rooms and seen Dakota sitting their mumbling to herself. Not really to herself more of in general trying to give herself the strength she had had earlier. As she looked down upon her friend she felt her heart sink. She recalled those feelings. They overtook her whenever her mom passed and came back for a time whenever her father abandoned her.

Lightly rapping on the door she stared at Dakota with a somber look upon her face. "Care if come in? Maybe we can watch something together? Unless you'd care for something else?" Nice and easy was the strategy at play here. No sense being a white knight if one wasn't wanted. But she wanted to help and The first step was letting Dakota know she was here for her.

"Y-yeah, s-s-sure." she told her, at this point, she was physically quivering.

Shakily lifting the remote, Dakota flipped on the TV, she hoped that she could find something, anything to change her thoughts. She flipped through the channels, but to no avail. The first channel had an anime character talking to his parents. She quickly flips to the next channel, which had someone with their friends, the next was a live action movie, with a man walking away from his burning home town. She flipped onto a history report on TV, she had little interest in it, but everything else hurt. She was at the emotional point where the equivalent for physical was having a nerve exposed. The slightest touch caused searing pain.

It was clear she was too hurt for her to even try to distract herself, she wasn't even looking at the screen! She desperately tried to calm herself with deep breathing, although at this point, her breaths were audible and 'shaky' sounding, and she continues to physically quiver.

Slowly blinking as her gentle smile spread across her face Yukiko started thinking that she may have to just take a more direct approach. From what she heard just a few seconds ago Dakota was still trying to remain strong. Trying to not unload all of her problems upon her roommie. But that wouldn't be a problem. Yukiko took care of her friends. Sometimes more forcefully than needed or intended.

Sitting down next to the shaken young girl, Yukiko watched the television as she flipped through channels and her peripherals watched Dakota. She noted her quick reactions as shows and movies that reflected her life came upon the screen and were almost immediately skipped. As the television finally rested upon one station she focused her entirety upon Dakota. It seemed as if she were soon to have a panic attack.

Sorrow nigh overwhelming the young girl her heart ached. Dakota was slowly dragging her down into her depression. She had to do something. Sliding her arm across Dakotas shoulders, Yukiko hugged her tight. Edging closer to her she leaned in and lightly kissed Dakota on the side of her head.

Raising her lips to her ears Yukiko began in a whisper. "Words can't express how sorry I am. But I want you to know I'm here for you. For anything you'll ever need." As she finished she found herself teary eyed. Kissing her atop her head she lightly rubbed Dakotas shoulder.

At this point, Dakota just lets go of her crumbling attempt to keep her composure, and has a complete and utter break down. She tightly hugs her roommate, and buries her face in Yukiko's shoulder, sobbing and crying hysterically. She knew she could 'get away with it', there was nobody around, and frankly, few would say she wasn't entitled to a breakdown at this point. If anything, they'd be impressed she'd staved it off this long.

"I-I'm not sssure of anything any more, Yukiko. Not one thing! E-e-e-every thing I ever knew has been s-ssevered from my life! Gone, vamoosed, cut, stopped, separated! My parent-s-s are dead, my friends and extended family wouldn't recognize me. And believe me, me and my grandparents were distant in the first place! I-I-I can't even h-h-have the s-same b-body I was born in!" she cries.

Then she starts getting louder, and sounds even more hysterical over this "Why! Why me!? This isn't fair! It's not fair Yukiko! I've never done anything wrong enough for this! Nothing for this! I was just a normal guy, who was outta school, minding my own d*mn business! Then what happens!? Then things I never thought could happen to me! Things I never thought could ever happen to anyone happen! Why! Why me! It's not fair Yukiko! It's not fair!"

She quiets down "It's not fair... It's not fair... It's not fair."

Yukiko did have to admire the strength and resolve of the now quivering, sobbing mess of a girl that she now held in her arms. Buryin her head into her, Yukiko started stroking her hair and whispering to her it would be alright. There was no need for her to say anything else right now. Dakota just needed to vent and get it out. She wasn't kidding when she said she admired how strong Dakota was. Yukiko was unsure if she would have even made it as far as Dakota had.

ListenIng to her breakdown she found herself slowly tearing up more and more at Dakotas desperate cries. There'd be plenty of time for her to talk with Dakota about all this at length. But for now given Dakotas state and the way this was affecting Yukiko the best she could do right now was try to console her friend.

Still stroking her hair and rubbing her back she continued whispering everything would be alright. Of course she couldn't offer any proof or evidence for it but she had faith. And she knew she would be there to help her friend pick up the pieces. As she began to quiet down Yukiko hugged her tighter. She couldn't help but think back to the time her own mother had... No, not her mother...

No time for that now as he though was quickly banished. Lightly kissing Dakota again she started to feel like a mother or a big sister consoling a loved one. "I know it's not fair Dakota. Believe me. You've been put through and asked to endure more than anyone should in their lifetime. But, while I can't do anything to change that..." Yukiko began, trying to find the right words.

Using the hand that stroked her hair Yukiko lifted Dakotas head up and stared into her eyes, lightly stroking her cheek. A warm smile upon her face was only blemished by the few tears that still streamed her golden face. "I promise you tha no matter what else happens, no matter what, you'll no longer have to face it alone."

Truer words may never have been spoken.

Dakota kept clinging to the girl tightly, like a child. It really the only thing she felt she could do for any relief right now. She was so warm, it was like hugging a ray of sunshine. Dakota... probably needed this more than anything. Maybe even more than the training she'd gotten from the Paladins. Don't get me wrong, she was still very grateful to the Silver Circle. They well could have just pushed her back outside, without control of her newfound powers, with almost no identity, and entirely a leaf dancing even more to the winds of fate. But no, the Paladins had provided her with training, they'd gotten her enrolled here. She was greatful. Though they'd been mostly focusing on that, they mostly wanted to get her standing on her own two feet again. But never this. This was what she truely needed.

At this point she was still sobbing, though she was at least somewhat coherent again at this point. There was still a look of despair or uncertainty in her eyes.

"Yukiko..." she softly started.

There was a long pause.

"...Thank you."

She held the poor girl tighter as she unabashedly continued to let her pain out. Still stroking her cheek Yukiko's warm smile trying to break the hold that this sadness and pain had upon them both. She was glad Dakota was finally facing the pain she had been bearing ever since this tragedy claimed her life. Or rather what her life used to be.

Looking deep into her desperate, pain filled eyes she was fixing to say something more but fell silent as she noticed Dakota quieting down a bit and looking to speak. A few tears still fell from both their faces, but it had seemed that the brunt of the assault was over. That warming smile crept ever larger as Dakota finally spoke without the brash and wild temperament that accompanied such breakdowns. Three simple words. But they were more than enough.

"You never need to thank me for being there for you," Yukiko replied as she continued consoling the poor girl.

It felt like a great weight had been lifted off her shoulders. Still, there was still weight left. That weight was uncertainty itself. She slowly released Yukiko, before returning to sitting position, proceeding to clean the tears off her face with her sleeve.

"Still, I'm not sure where I'm supposed to go from here." she stated.

Sitting there next to her friend she didn't really know where she should go or how she should proceed. That was something she'd have to ultimately figure out for herself. But here was no reason a helping hand couldn't be applied. Wiping away what few tears still stained her own face she sat there for a moment, hands in lap. One thing was sure her mind needed to be taken off all this negativity.

Looking Dakota over a few thoughts crossed her mind to help her over this hurdle. The hard part may be to get her to go along with it. Money was also a slight concern but nothing too major. It was just a material object. Her friend mattered more.

"Well, I don't know the answers to any philosophical questions like that. All I know is that you gotta keep moving forward." As she spoke she used her finger to help iterate the point by keeping her chin up. "But, one thing I do know is that you could use a little fun after all this. Whaddya say? I hear there's a pretty killer arcade somewhere in the mall. My treat?"

Yukiko stared at her friend with a look of concern as she waved her little wallet in front of Dakota. She didn't know if she'd bite or not but it was worth a shot. One thing Dakota said she liked was video games so maybe they could be one of the reminders of a past that's not as different as the present she lived now.

Slowly breaking out of her sadness, she pulls out her wallet. She tried to smile, and it was clear she was trying to cheer up.

"The arcade sounds good, but I'll pay." she told her "After all you've helped me, it's the least I can do."

She blushes a bit.

"Hehe, after all, wouldn't be right for me to rely on you for everything, would it now?" she shallowly laughed.

"Oh come now! You can rely on Yukiko for everything!" She replied poking her in the ribs playfully. She was a tad relieved though. She might need to try and get a part-time job. The government gave her a small allowance as part of her 'scholarship' for Hyakuji but it wasn't much. However no time for that now, another adventurous day that shall be!

Looking down at her she knew Dakota was tying to cheer up but damnitt Yukiko wanted her happy! And there was one way she knew to accomplish that goal.

"Alright then Dakota-chan," she begins, leaning forward, a nice warm inviting smile plastered upon her face. "I'll let you pay, but first you gotta do something for me!" Yukiko finished as she then sprang her trap!

Tackling her onto the bed Yukiko began furiously tickling the younger girl. Armpits, stomach, even somehow, beyond all logic, getting at the soles of her feet! When she wanted someone to cheer up she went balls to the wall!

Yukiko wasn't the only one who might need a part-time job sooner or later, the money she got from the paladins could probably last her a while, but she'd eventually have to get a job somewhere herself. Sadly, given the circumstances, Dakota was probably presumed to be dead by now. She couldn't exactly collect on her old man's life insurance or anything. She had only managed to reclaim her Teddy Bear, and that was it.

However, she was startled by her friend's 'trap', and launched into a fit... of laughter, as Yukiko began her tickle raid on her. The feet were her weak point, they were ticklish enough of a spot for anyone, but the bottom of her feet were as new as the rest of her body... they weren't calloused yet. So the effect increased.

"Hahaha! Yukheheheiko, haha! Stop haha it! Thahahahat tickuhuhles!" she laughed.

Operation Happy Feet® was a success. Laughing loudly she continued her assault for a few seconds more, somehow concentrating upon the soles of her feet as she noted they illicited the grandest response. Finally satisfied Dakota was in the right mind set she pushed herself off her roommate and back into a sitting position. That didn't last long however as she somehow lost her balance and crashed onto the floor where she burst into more raucous laughter.

Laying on the floor splayed out everywhich way she looked up towards her friend with a very Cheshire grin. Yes, she was pleased with her stirring success even if it was only temporary. She liked to be in good moods and liked her friends to be in them even more.

"So, off to the arcade?"

OOC: I'll throw up a thread at the arcade here in a sec ^•^

"Yeah sure, just one sec." she told her. Dakota quickly fills a glass of water, and drinks it. Her breakdown had left her thirsty.

"Let's go." she told her.
