Selene braced herself for impact as the Wyvern swung its tail, realizing that it was going to hurt. But instead of sending him flying, Seth instead managed to seize the Wyvern's tail in mid-swing, standing his ground like a mighty oak tree with the lesser wyrm's tail in his arms! "Cor blimey..." the corporate heiress muttered in disbelief as Seth lifted the Wyvern's tail while tightening his grip, while ranting something about the same move not working on him twice, and attempted an over-shoulder throw against the Wyvern! Except that if Seth had wanted to throw the Wyvern, he should have seized the tail closer towards where it was joined to the lesser Wyrm's body instead of being closer to the tip where the Wyvern possessed a mechanical advantage. With a growl, the Wyvern snorted jets of steam from its nostrils as it dug its talons into the ground as it felt the tug on its tail, before attempting to lift its tail up with Seth still holding onto it, before swinging it down hard towards the ground! "Seth-kun! What has gotten into you? Is there even a point to all this!?" Selene exclaimed; as far as the corporate heiress was concerned it didn't seem like a training session anymore and that Seth was simply putting himself through a lot of unnecessary torment. |

She was wrong on one thing, that's not Seth. However she was right on another thing, this isn't a training session anymore. It's seemed more like a moment where one vents out fury and the desire to wreck havoc just because. And it certainly doesn't look like a torment since, despite being smashed HARD into the ground by the wyvern no thanks to him holding the wrong part of its tail, he was still smiling. Albeit it wasn't the usual energetic and innocent smile of Seth. It was the mad and sadist toothy grin of the metavirus V. "What do you mean, I feel perfectly fine," He said in a high and manic voice, before tossing himself into the air with a single push from the ground. It was as though he was possessed. Despite having half his bones broken and his lung collapsed, he was still standing on his feet as steady as a rock. There wasn't anything stopping him. As much as Seth himself had tried his hardest to get V in control it was impossible. As though that body doesn't belong to Seth at all. As though he was a completely alien entity that the body refuses to accept, to listen to. V stared dagger into the dragon's eye for one split second, before he began to push hard on the ground for another rushing attack. Then everything went black. |

Selene looked away briefly with her arms over her face as the Wyvern slammed its tail HARD against the ground with Seth still grabbing onto it, the force of the impact sending a cloud of dirt and debris flying. "Seth-kun? SETH!" the corporate heiress exclaimed as she looked back to where Seth was, rushing over to her butler but only to be greeted with a deranged-looking toothy grin; it was nothing like the friendly and innocent smile that the Seth she knew was always associated with. "What do you mean, I feel perfectly fine," Seth's voice was high and manic as he pushed himself into the air and got up onto his feet, staring daggers at the Wyvern as he pushed hard against the ground, getting ready to make another charge at the lesser wyrm... before promptly collapsing. "Seth-kun? Cor blimey, don't scare me, please... " Seth would hear Selene calling out to him, frantically shaking him where he lay as the world around him went black... "Security? Get a helicopter on the scene, and bring a doctor along!" the corporate heiress almost screeched as she called the head of the Frostfire Building's security detail to arrange for an immediate helicopter evacuation to the nearest hospital... Some time later... "How is he?" Selene asked, looking up at the doctor with no small amount of consternation as she sat next to Seth's bed at an A-Class ward in the Hyakuji General Hospital. And all the while the corporate heiress held onto one of Seth's hand in her own. "This is hard to believe," the doctor - an aging man with short gray hair that was thinning at the top of his head and a pair of horn-rimmed glasses - said as he rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Normally with the sort of injuries the boy had sustained, he'd be a corpse by the time he got here. But he's a strong one - we're going to have to keep him under close observation for the time being, but assuming nothing goes wrong we're expecting his condition to stabilize within... oh, three days or so? Of course, it all depends on how much fight he has in him." "Thank you," the corporate heiress replied, heaving a sigh of relief as she kept holding onto Seth's hand as the doctor and his nurse assistant left the ward. "Seth-kun, can you hear me?" Selene whispered into Seth's ear; it was highly improbable that the boy would regain consciousness before his condition stabilized, but it never hurt to have hope. "Come on, I know you're in there..." the corporate heiress continued to attempt to reach out to Seth; now all she could do at this point was pray... |

Oh... crud, dammit what the... heck? Augh... damn his brain is throbbing... Someone tell him, fill him in with whatever the heck just happened to get him in this state...? Oh wait. He was there himself. There's no need to explain. Let's see... what happened back then? ...Oh. Right. He had fought against a dragon. Or rather... V had fought against a dragon, using Seth's body. He wasn't exactly sure what the outcome was but one thing he could remember was... he got beat up pretty badly. It's worse because the body that had been beaten up was Seth's own body. Dammit, this is a bad time to get the sense of nostalgia. Wait, he's still alive right? He hadn't been killed by the dragon, right? Oh wait. That was Selene's little wyvern. Alright, so calling it 'little' was a bit of an understatement, but that's not the point. Selene wouldn't go and let her own familiar kill her best friend, now would she? Or... wait, maybe she would. He hadn't been himself after all... In any case, the main question is... is he still alive? The faint call of his name on his ear could probably answer that question. He knew that voice, that's Selene, right? So she's there next to him? Where is he anyway? His hand moved slightly for something to grasp. One hand slid across what seemed to be fabric underneath him, and the other tightening slightly on something soft, warm and slender. Ah... that's not enough... "Geh..." He groaned slightly, wrenching his protesting eyelids open. He couldn't see well, everything looked as though they had been veiled with a thin white curtain over his eyes. Though that didn't last long. He blinked a few times, attempting to regain his field of vision. A blurry figure of... something... or was it someone? Ah. It's a someone, alright. Someone... pumpkin-red hair... long one... apparently a female... "...Selene?" He said in an attempt to clarify what he was seeing, and to make sure his brain wasn't playing tricks on him. He sure recovered conveniently fast. |

The corporate heiress let out a gasp of surprise as she felt movement under the sheets - the doctor had said that it would take Seth at least a few days to stabilize, let alone regain consciousness. But against all odds, her butler had shown a positive sign as Selene felt Seth's grip tighten on her hand. "...Selene?" the boy asked, the corporate heiress smiling as she heard Seth speak, as he struggled to get his eyes open, the familiar sight of Selene's face coming into focus...![]() "Seth-kun?" Selene asked, her grip tightening on Seth's hand as his vision gradually cleared as the boy blinked a few times. ![]() "Yes, Seth-kun, it's me, Selene," The corporate heiress said as she gently wiped away the tears of joy that were already forming at the corners of her eyes, sniffing slightly as she did so. "But how did you... the doctor said you would be out for at least a couple days... he even said that there's a chance you may not make it out of the danger stage... I..." the corporate heiress got a hold on herself, deciding that it was best not to think of it anymore. If she tried to go on about what the worst could happen to Seth might be, she might very well break down on the spot. Better for her to be happy that her friend was back in the land of the awake. "Nevermind, I'm just glad you pulled through." |

Gwah! Crud dammit Seth, what have you done to make her cry like that?! Seth gave a start on the bed as he quickly scrambled up and awake, feeling a powerful pang of guilt smacking his face like a heated frying pan. "Uwaa...! S-Selene, no need to cry! See, look I'm fine right! Haha! Ow!" That was a failure in his attempt to reassure her, as a sharp jolt of pain ran through his chest, causing him to falter and curl up slightly, clutching his heart. The pain ebbed away quickly enough though. "Aah... uhm... yes. I'm fine, thank you very much. That's good to hear," He continued, giving a fake cough as he took on his most professional looking exterior, nodding as he did so. Well, come to think of it... isn't it normal for people to like... cry in this sort of situation? You know, being glad and happy and all... That's actually sorta touching, someone would actually shed tears for him. It kind of wanted to make him cry himself. He wanted to see her cry some more--wait wait wait wrong train of thought there. Not to mention completely missing the point. He shook his head to get rid of the somewhat selfish and potentially dangerous thinking and went back to deal with the matter at hand. ...Still. That must've been quite worrisome for her. As much as he liked and cherished the idea that someone would concern about him that much, it still didn't feel good to have the others being all worried sick like that. He gave a sigh, raising his free hand and subsequently patted her head. It was a habit he got from a long time ago every time his sister ever threw a tantrum or was sulking about something. Though apparently he did that without consideration, seeing how he quickly withdrew his hand after a few pat, acting as though it hadn't happened at all. Yea, it seemed kinda... silly, to pat her head in this kind of situation. "It's... it's really alright though, don't worry about me too much..." He said, scratching his cheek and staring hard at the television set in front of him, seemingly just to avoid meeting her eyes. "Thanks for the concern, by the way," |

"Uwaa...! S-Selene, no need to cry! See, look I'm fine right! Haha! Ow!" Seth tried to reassure her, although the jolt of pain that ran through his body betrayed him, as the boy curled up slightly, clutching at his heart and eliciting a gasp from Selene. What had she done? In allowing him to do his so-called training she'd willingly allowed one of her closest friends to get beaten within an inch of his life, and she couldn't help but chastise herself for not stopping things before they got bad. "Aah... uhm... yes. I'm fine, thank you very much. That's good to hear," Seth said with a cough, albeit this time a feigned one to give the impression of clearing his throat in a professional manner. "How could I... not?" the corporate heiress sniffled as she once again found herself fighting against her own tear ducts, but this time against tears of remorse instead of joy. "If I had stopped the Wyvern before things got really bad, you wouldn't be in such a state... I'm such a terrible person..." Selene lamented as she hung her head low, her hands gripping the bedsheet in a bunch. There was that time when under the influence of the black crystal skull Kuro had made her fight against Star and Jonny, with Star taking a slash from the Valkyrie's blade in order to block a sword strike intended for Jonny. In hindsight it wasn't so bad, seeing how her mind wasn't her own at that time. But this time it was different - she'd willingly summoned her Wyvern to fight against Seth, and had allowed it to inflict life-threatening injuries on her friend. If anything were to happen to him, Selene knew she couldn't forgive herself knowing that it was a willful decision on her part. "Eh?" Selene's eyes widened momentarily as Seth suddenly reached up to give her a pat on the head, he'd probably done it out of reflex, without much forethought, seeing how as soon as the boy became aware of what he was doing he quickly pulled his hand away. For a moment there the corporate heiress forgot about her own feelings of guilt at the display of affection meant to comfort her, giggling sincerely at Seth's usual innocent demeanor. "It's... it's really alright though, don't worry about me too much..." Seth said reassuringly, scratching his cheek as he did so, staring hard at the television set in front of the bed at the far end of the room in order to avert the corporate heiress' eyes. "Thanks for the concern, by the way." "Ah, you're welcome, Seth-kun," Selene replied with a smile. "By the way, did you say it's really alright?" the corporate heiress asked as she got up from the chair, having been seated down all the while, the expression never leaving her face as she faced Seth. Although if Seth were perceptive enough, he would probably realize that despite her cheerful expression the tensed-up body language of the corporate heiress was a sign that things hadn't truly calmed down yet, and in fact he was sitting in the eye of the hurricane, and any moment now he would be back in the storm...

"Now, come on, it's fine. I'm the one who asked for it so... no need to blame yourself," He said, his eyes still on the television, seeing the reflection of her who was in a state of guilt and depression. Dammit, this is certainly his fault. What else can he do so that she would cheer up... "Uh... yes? I think...?" He braved a glance at her, only to find her on her feet instead of sitting down. A slight wave of ominousness washed over him as he noted her somewhat tense disposition, despite the happy-looking expression on her face. Ah... yes, that... Seth recoiled slightly in his bed, keeping a close look on every single moving part of her body just in case... Not that he thought she'd actually do anything, but there's that sense of danger that ticked in his head. Maybe the earlier metaphor was correct, he was staring at the eye of a potential hurricane. Er, scratch that. He WAS staring at the eye of a hurricane. "Why... why did you ask...?" A nervous chuckle escaped his mouth as he kept direct eye contact with her, though that was probably a bad idea when he could feel a somewhat powerful surge of energy emanating from that... cheerful looking face. |

"Now, come on, it's fine. I'm the one who asked for it so... no need to blame yourself," Seth replied, and while still avoiding Selene's gaze noticed the remorseful expression on the corporate heiress' face reflected upon the television's blank screen. "Uh... yes? I think...?" Seth stole a glance at Selene just as she rose from the chair with a saccharine-looking smile on her face, although the boy would take note, with growing consternation of the corporate heiress' body language, which appeared mostly tensed-up. And at close examination, her hands were clenched into a pair of white-knuckled fists by her side. "That's good to hear," the corporate heiress remarked, her now taking on a somewhat sinister quality as her tone, while still sweet and friendly bore a threatening undertone."Why... why did you ask...?" Seth chuckled nervously as he made direct eye contact with Selene as the corporate heiress looked right back. "Because I wanted to make sure first," the corporate heiress replied, taking a deep breath through clenched teeth. "What the bloody hell were you thinking trying to get yourself killed like that!?" Selene demanded angrily, her disposition appearing to take a complete 180° after she'd confirmed that it was okay to give Seth a piece of her mind. "How do you expect me to face up to Yuki-chan, Jonny and the others if you somehow died!? And how could I live with knowing that I had gotten you killed because I agreed to your idiotic decision!?" the corporate heiress continued her exasperated rant as she slammed her hand on the headboard before gripping it tightly, glaring at Seth through a pair of teary eyes, this time not bothering to fight back her tears as hot streams of anger and self-reproach rolled down her cheeks. One of the advantages of being in an A-class ward is that you're essentially the sole occupant, so there was no fear of disturbing fellow patients. "What has exactly gotten into you back there, Seth-kun?" the corporate heiress asked, now sounding worried as she slumped back into her chair, wiping away her tears with some tissue that she tore out from a box of tissues on a small table next to the bed. "It was like you were possessed or something... because it couldn't have been you isn't it?" Selene panted slightly - all that venting of emotions had left her drained both emotionally and physically as she looked up tiredly at Seth. "I mean, you were behaving like a totally different person, and even for a second I wouldn't have believed that all that rage and bloodlust was something the Seth-kun we know and love would be capable of..." Well, perhaps if she or Yuki or someone else that she knew Seth cared deeply for were to be badly hurt by someone, she might see Seth start screaming for blood. But under normal circumstances, the Seth that she knew wasn't someone who'd kill out of bloodlust. It was at this point that the corporate heiress suspected that all wasn't quite what it seemed with him... |

Whatever he had expected to come out from Selene was definitely much less worse than what she's doing now. Like an erupting volcano her anger spewed forth unhindered, bathing Seth in a crap load of fury and making him feel guilt like never before. He visibly recoiled in his bed as she yelled and cried, flinging his arms over his head to shield himself from the view of her breaking down, but was completely incapable of stopping the voice from reaching his ears. It was only when she slumped back on her seat did he decide it was safe to let his guard down. Though his feelings had definitely taken a huge shock in the face after all that. Damn, she really was worried sick about him. He really couldn't think of anything to say or do to comfort her at all. Whatever that came across his head he thought might be too petty or insignificant to calm her down or take her mind off things. Not to mention it might be a bit too imprudent to do so. The only thing he could think of doing was sit there and stare remorsefully at the bed sheet, feeling terrible about making her cry like that. And then came the topic that really got his mind off things. "Aaah... that... um..." She may not have known what had happened, but he knew very well what happened. Or to be more specific, who did it. But still, even after all the crying and yelling and feeling guilty and all that sort of stuff he was still opposed to telling her the real truth behind all that madness from earlier. I mean, would she really take the fact -that her best friend was infected with a powerful super metavirus that was made to destroy anything it touches and will kill Seth in years months or maybe even weeks- well? He didn't want to imagine what she would do and how she would react. He couldn't anyway. But that pretty much left him with nothing but "Er..." and "Aaa..." as answers to her question. He didn't know how to tell her anything, and he was fairly certain she wouldn't budge without a clear answer. This left him in quite a predicament that he wasn't sure how to get out from. It's a pinch-! "Eh? Wait, what?" Wait what indeed. All of a sudden he snapped out of his unsureness and then started talking to someone who doesn't seem to be there. Like he's talking to a disembodied voice that only Seth himself could hear. "W-wait a minute, you're sure...?" He said again, looking forward with unfocused eyes. He went silent after a while before finally letting out a sigh. "Well... if he's alright with it..." He said, more to himself than to anyone else, before turning to Selene with a small smile on his face. "You asked for it. Selene, meet V," Nothing changed much except for his facial expression. The smile dropped into a frown. His eyes narrowed as he immediately turned away from the corporate heiress. The air around Seth barely changed, as though nothing had happened at all. But even with the lack of sign or indication, he had definitely changed. He didn't know how to face her, he didn't know how was he supposed to even talk to her. Other than Robyn and Jameson (not counting Seth), Selene was the third human being he had directly interacted with as himself. Although, even with his uncertainty and hesitance, there was one word he would like to say to convey his feelings at the moment. "...Sorry..." V said in an unnaturally small voice. |

Understandably, there was an interval of tense silence as Selene simply sat down in her chair and Seth simply lay where he was - after the emotional episode the corporate heiress was at a loss for words, and likewise Seth wasn't entirely sure on what he should say. For a moment, silence was their only companion, until the boy began acting a little (to Selene anyway) weird, appearing as though he were talking to himself. "Eh? Wait, what?" "Seth-kun?" Selene looked up in surprise as Seth returned her worried gaze with a vacant stare. "Cor blimey, Seth-kun are you alright?" the English heiress asked as she waved her hand in front of Seth's face, hoping to get some kind, any kind of response from the boy as he engaged in a self-conversation. "Well... if he's alright with it..." The corporate heiress sighed in relief as Seth finally responded, looking upon Selene with a small smile on his face. "You asked for it. Selene, meet V," and almost instantly the boy's smile changed into a frown - one could tell from the eyes, but it was at this moment that the corporate heiress was aware that Seth was not Seth. "...Sorry..." the entity known as V said in Seth's voice, although his tone was unnaturally subdued - but Selene was able to tell that someone else was in charge at this point, for even though the voice remained Seth's own, it spoke in a tone that was unlike what the butler would normally use. "You must be V, right?" Selene asked. "For starters, I want to know who... or what are you?" |

Whoops. Wrong word choice there. "Please refrain from using the term 'what' when you are referring to him," It was hard to tell seeing as they pretty much share the same body and voice, but from the context of the sentence it was pretty clear that the one in control as of now was Seth. He wasn't smiling though, and there was a slight crease on his forehead and his eyes was closed with a trace of irritation. Ah... no Seth, it's alright. "Eh? But..." "It's what I really am, aren't I? A thing," V said to no one in particular, a small grin forming on his face before disappearing entirely. Turning to Selene with a solemn look on his face, he said, "Whatever you will hear from me, don't blame Seth for it," And... he started explaining. ~~~~~ ...Nope, not gonna go through the whole ordeal of writing about him explaining everything to her. "That's the deal with stuff, really," He said, ending his explanation. Even though he had decided to pretty much tell her everything about him and Seth, he had so far avoided mentioning the fact that, in time, his predetermined function will activate, eliminating Seth from inside and ultimately killing him. When that will happen, only V knows and he's not dumb enough to let the info out. Not even to Seth himself. Let's just hope she's not smart enough to actually figure it out by herself. Which he doubt. She's pretty smart in V's opinion. |

"Please refrain from using the term 'what' when you are referring to him," Seth interjected, it was essentially the same body and voice speaking, but Selene was able to tell whether it was Seth or V that was doing the talking from the tone of voice and the facial expressions. "Eh? But..." at the first glance it would almost appear as though the boy was talking to himself. "It's what I really am, aren't I? A thing," V replied with a small grin that quickly faded away as he looked at Selene with a solemn expression. "Whatever you will hear from me, don't blame Seth for it," V continued, as he gave the corporate heiress a much-awaited explanation on his identity... "That's the deal with stuff, really," The corporate heiress cast a worried look on Seth as the virus inside the boy's body was done with his explanation. So all this while one of her best friends had harbored within his body a bio-engineered virus that for reasons unknown possessed its own sentience. "Wait... you're a virus that was created..." Selene kept her worried look. Even if she'd suspected that V hadn't told her the full story, it didn't take a super genius to figure out that V was originally created as a weapon... a killer. "Doesn't that mean you're created to... kill?" the corporate heiress asked, before entering into a state of stunned silence as she realized what this meant. |

"Pretty much," He said, as nonchalantly as though they were simply discussing about the best kind of tea to be had for breakfast. Ironic though, for an entity whose primary objective is to destroy, he has yet to actually take the life of anyone. It's... probably not a wonder that his natural killer instinct went berserk. All those had been clogged up inside him without any way to vent it out, like an overheated computer, they tend to... explode. Well, okay, so an overheated computer just shuts down, but you get the idea. "Nah, it's not exactly as bad as it sounds," Seth reclaimed control of his body as V slinked away unnoticed into the depth of his mind. Honestly, he's living fairly healthily despite there being a super metavirus in him that was meant to kill. Maybe even better. Main problem here is when V's original purpose were to be activated. But that hasn't happened so far, so he should be fine. Maybe. "Just one thing Selene, please don't tell anyone else about this," That was his one request. With Selene it's inevitable, but he doesn't want anyone else to start worrying about him just because he's got a mad murderer in his head. He had gotten so far keeping everything silent, he can't go around letting the cat out of the bag now. Apparently he forgot about how Jameson came to know about V and the aftermath. Boy was he mad about Seth keeping this a secret from everyone. |

"Nah, it's not exactly as bad as it sounds," Seth regained control as V slipped away somewhere inside the recesses of the boy's mind. "Not as bad as it sounds!? Seth-kun, what are you talking about?" Selene exclaimed, flabbergasted as she ran her fingers through her hair in frustration. "That V... you've got a bio-weapon inside of you; the only reason you're still fine as of now is because it hasn't gone off yet! Who knows what V is going to do once he goes off!" Being an heiress apparent to a leading pharmaceuticals company meant Selene knew her pathogens well. Some of the most lethal of pathological agents are those with a long incubation period. Seth might appear strong and healthy for now, but only God knows what could happen to him once V's incubation was completed. "Just one thing Selene, please don't tell anyone else about this," Seth made a request, one that the corporate heiress wasn't sure if she was capable of upholding. But to imagine how Yuki and the others would react to this knowledge... the corporate heiress clenched her teeth as her hands gripped the bed sheet tightly. "Alright," Selene replied with a nod, with a tone of resignation in her voice. What V would do to Seth once he "goes off", the corporate heiress did not know - but she was certain that one way or another it would kill him; and she simply couldn't bear the thought of losing one of her closest friends. "I just need some time to myself now... to let all of this sink in, and I'm sure you'd also want some time to yourself to recuperate... take care, Seth-kun. And... just so you know; you are and will always be one of my best friends ever," Selene said as she rose from the chair, heading towards the ward exit. |
