The core of Nanoha Go's magical abilities lies in being able to deploy and even shoot long range energy beams, with a destructive power driving behind them capable of knocking out anyone not prepared for the power she is able to throw. Assisted by her Intelligent Device, Raising Heart, Nanoha’s skill and powers as a mage was a considerable concern to some people, particularly those from the Time-Space Administration Bureau who couldn’t find the prospect of a high powered mage on an un-administered world all that pleasing. It was only by virtue of her helping them out during the Kingdom Heart Crisis and the recent event on Mid Childa not too long ago, and the support of many others who trusted her that she was allowed to operate her magic in her own world.

That said, it isn’t to say that Nanoha didn’t doubt herself about the responsibilities in her hands over her own powers. While she was far from being inept in it, it didn’t stop her from trying to keep practicing in how to use her magic so that she won’t cause as much unnecessary damage as possible when she uses them. While she can’t do much about her more direct attack modes, the one she still needs to master to a very good extent was her Divine Shooter magic.

As it were, it was early evening and she chose the remote forest slightly far from the city, where the only noise was the soft bubbling of the Seion River nearby for her to practice without getting seen or involving any innocent bystanders should her magic go awry. Four round spheres of bluish energy flew circles around her in an orbit while she closes her eyes holding onto Raising Heart in her left hand to make sense of them, their flight patterns and what not. So far, their orbiting pattern was smooth but that’s because this was the easy part. The harder part comes next.

Slowly, Nanoha opened her eyes again, and with a raised hand and finger, she directed the four spheres to zoom straight forward across the river, before lifting her hand skyward which then makes the four energy spheres arc upwards from their original pattern. So far, so good.

She then makes them loop backward towards where she stands and at the last minute, she makes them turn again across the river. But the angle of one of the spheres was coming in was too wide away from the rest, and Nanoha sees it too. Instinctively, Nanoha jumped back to avoid it while still trying to control the sphere to go where she needed them to go and while she succeeded, the rush of fear of being hit by her own projectiles was enough to send the four spheres spinning out of control after clearing the loop and turn. All four hurtled across the river again before hitting the ground and exploded, kicking up dirt, dust and smoke and also possibly raising hell with the noise as well.

“Dammit.” Nanoha cursed to herself, seeing the result of her little mistake…

This is merely by chance that Kaede is by the river at this time of the day today. Normally, she would have been at the elemancer tower, either crawling her pen slowly through grading paper - her least part about being a teacher- or reading books from the Water and ice tower to try and find out more clues about the spiritual scroll that she is supposed to seal back away.

The seal on the scroll has long deteriorated, and the monstrous spirit, she reckoned, would have already left the scroll, or, if not, be really close to doing so. This was the main reason why she has been feverishly trying to find a way to reseal the scroll in all the ways possible. But today, this is a different story.

The girl took a hint from Fenrir that maybe there is some spirit near Hyakuji Forest that would be knowledge about it, and has paid the location a visit to see if she can somehow encounter the spirit when it is around. After all, if there is no books on this matter, at least they can pray that there is some sort of people knowledgeable about this field, right?

To be honest, however, at this point Kaede is simply trying to cling onto each and every hope that she can find, as the books are not really contributing much but disappointment, and the spirits that she has asked so far was not really well informed, either.

Kaede is hitting a huge wall, and she cannot climb over it, even though time is running short.

And there is the problem with the attacker, too.

Despite Kaede's greatest effort to find out who exactly it was that attacked her, Tsubame seems to not have enough indication from all the cameras and everything that she can gather- it seems that the person, whoever attacked, has chosen a blind spot on the surveillance camera in the park, and has chosen a time where the security is the most careless. And, of course, Kaede has heard a lot of whining and complaining from TSubame herself, too, such as "why are you still out there in the open at this time of the night?" or "Why are you not even on guard?" and stuff of that sort.

One thing that they are certain about, however, is that this person, whoever it is, is also after the school, and is a Miko. Chances are, it is someone that Kaede may or may not know, too.

After all, who would care about such a family-shrine related matter, if not someone from the family itself?

All of these thoughts were up and juggling in Kaede's mind, along with the newly enrollment she had with Arcadia, when she was strolling down the Seion River, trying to get back to the Water and Ice tower before it gets too late. She chose specifically the river, simply because the sound of water calms her down and makes her think a bit better than usual. And there is a potential of someone attacking in the woods, too.

Kaede is not trying to be paranoid, but that shadowmancer maiden, whoever it was, was out to hunt for her life for real, and much caution is needed if she does not wishes to die- she almost died last time, had there not been that strange girl around.

Speaking of that strange girl, Kaede still hasn't figured out who that person was, yet, either.

She lets out a soft sigh, when she walks further down from the river.

It is then that a sudden blast of energy flies her way, and explodes into dirts and dust, just about a feet or so away from her.

Kaede's eyes widens immediately, and her body acted even faster to the sudden attack than her mind did- the water particles around the girl, including the ones in the river near her, stood still, and dense up the area, when the girl cautiously looks around to identify the cause, all while finding herself a cover.

She kneels down near the bushes next to a tree, and extends her right hand next to her, gathering a huge water orb around both of her palms, ready for a long-range attack.

If this is no accident, and if this blast of energy comes again, she is going to start attacking towards the area where the energy comes from. No question asked.

This is a life or death matter. She is not questioning it.

Nanoha never saw the girl across the river walking by so close to where one of her Shooter projectiles hit, nor did she managed to saw her slinking away into the bushes thinking there was danger in the air. Picking herself up from the ground with a groan, Nanoha watches the dust and smoke slowly settle from her vantage point, thinking to herself how lucky she was choosing a remote place such as this to practice after all.

Not wanting to feel daunted by the small mishap, Nanoha raises Raising Heart again. "Divine." She commanded simply, and four more energy spheres materialized out of thin air around her, repeating her concentration exercise from earlier and making them orbit around her slowly...

"Divine."

A whisper, Kaede reckon. However, the sound of that light, girl-toned whispering command has struck a nerve in her. It immediately reminded her of the girl in the shadow, the shadowmancer miko who tried to attack her and kill her last time they met in the park. Is this person an acquaintance with that girl, too? Their form of attack is drastically different, but she could tell, at least, that the form of energy is still rather strongly spiritual based. The possibility of them being from the same group, while slight, is not none.

Besides, who else would be in this kind of deep woods at this time of the day?

Fear begins to eat into Kaede's heart, as she closes her eyes, and tries to calm herself and identify the opponent's position. At least she is near the water this time, and that the person is actually audible. If it was just like last time, where the shadowmancer is so far away from her, there would have not been a single way for her to counterattack.

Several thoughts goes through Kaede's head, however. Should she strike before the person does, then? Or should she wait? After all, it could just be a random person trying to pass through the forest, right? It could just be a mere coincidence that someone is using their power, right?

… Not with that accuracy, however.

She was almost killed. Well, not almost killed, but she could have been heavily injured with a blast of orb in that power.

The aquamancer bit her lips. It's better to be safe than sorry. At least she would try to contain her power, so not to kill the person or heavily injure the person accidentally. Restraining the opponent will be good enough, right?

With that thought in mind, the girl releases her hold on the water particles in her hands, spreads the orbs around her up into the air, and causes the water orb to surround the opponent up in midair.

"Mirror Ice-Cage." The girl whispers underneath her throat, and make a motion to bring her hands down.

The water orbs in midair of Nanoha would, following the aquamancer's movement, quickly shoots down onto the floor in a circular shape, and freezes into an ice-cage, aiming to cage up the girl…

Let's hope that this is going to be something that is only her paranoia….

[Protection!]

The command came from Raising Heart was sudden and unannounced, but it instantly made Nanoha open her eyes just in time as Raising Heart’s auto barrier went up above her head that made what seems like icicles collide on the magic barrier, cracking them before they come down on her and possibly doing harm. Not wanting to know just how many were the things or where was it coming from, Nanoha turns and heads for the tree line behind her in a huff and a race of adrenaline as a memory from her recent misadventures on Mid-Childa surfaced which suddenly made her sweat.

She slams her back on a tree while changing Raising Heart into its Sealing Mode form which will at least make her use her magic easier than its Standby Mode form. All the while, the four Divine Shooters remained active and followed to where she was, unable to do anything as long as she hasn’t gave them the command to shoot at something which she would now except she has no idea where her probable opponent is.

Which raises the question of who is it. The form of attack was similar to that accursed ice mage she fought against, the one that almost killed her if it weren’t for Hajime being there to save her. Just the thought of that fight made her blood run cold at just how close she was to dying. The ice mage was beaten back and locked up for good, supposedly in one of TSAB’s dimensional prison. Did she managed to escape and now seeking for revenge? The thought of a vengeful person who she has trouble fighting against coming after her was enough to rattle her courage a bit to try and run away as fast as she can and fight another day.

But knowing her opponent now, she probably wouldn’t have a chance anyway.

Slowly, and with trepidation, Nanoha reaches into her pocket to take out her cellphone with only one thing in mind: call Hajime. But unsure whether her opponent was actively searching for her or not, Nanoha slowly creep her away across the grass parallel along the river side treeline, keeping an eye out for somebody, or anything that can indicate where her enemy was. If she was hiding amongst the trees as well, then there was no way for her to see her clearly until she moved.

Well, only one way to do that.

She waved her hand across towards the other river side with a soft, “Shoot.”, and the four Divine Shooter orbs launches towards four point on the ground on the other side of the river equidistant between each other of about 4 meters, causing four more explosions again just like her short mishap earlier only this time with the attention to scramble her enemy to move or do something to react so as for her to find easily.

And all the while, she dialed Hajime’s numbers, and lifted her phone up to hear the welcoming ring tone on the other end indicating that Hajime’s phone was at least on and reachable…

What would come almost as soon as the four Divine Shooter Orbs hits the ground, is a huge linear waterfall that appeared from ground up spanning over an area of almost 12 meters across, which absorbs most of the damage that would have been done by the explosion to the trees and bushes. While Nanoha may not be able to tell where exactly the person is, she can at least tell that the opponent is towards around the left of her side where the river begins.

Kaede was too scared to be careless, that when she saw the four incoming lights by keeping her eyes onto the field across, she almost immediately pulled out all of the water she can ever control from the river, and form a defensive wall in front of her. It was actually almost too much that she pulled, that the water, instead of protecting only what's in front of her, also span and protected other areas as well. It is not like it is a bad thing in the end, given that now her opponent has a harder time to tell where she is at right now. However, this also results in Kaede feeling a bit of tiredness- it is the first time that she actually pulls out so much water at once. It is not like she cannot do this normally, it is just she didn't do it enough to make it effortless for her to do.

When the water falls back onto the ground, the girl quickly shifts down to the other side of the land, and tries to locate where the opponent is. She could tell that the attack is from the other side of the river, but that is no new information.

So, in order to actually find out where the opponent is, does that means she needs to cross over to the other side of the river? But how is she going to do that without being exposed to the opponent in the broad daylight?

There will be no movement from the other side of the river for a long bit, before Nanoha discovers that there is something flying on top of her side of the river, hovering and seemingly scouting- it is Kaede's aqua spirit Haru trying to locate her opponent.

Save for the constant ringing over her phone in her ears, the surrounding area was quiet to Nanoha. Too quiet in fact that it unnerved her. Save for the reaction of a wall of water suddenly bursting up to absorb her Divine Shooter orbs, there was no way to tell where exactly her opponent was still. She would have to make a move soon and fast lest the ice mage she was familiar with was already upon her without her knowing.

Dammit, onii-chan, why aren’t you picking up? Nanoha thought to herself as the ringing came to an end without Hajime even picking the call up. He must have his phone on silent again or something. Trying again, Nanoha pressed the redial button again.

As the ring tone continued again, Raising Heart blinked again as well. [Master! Above you!]

Nanoha’s eyes instantly darted up in panic to find what looked like at first glance a watery looking bird flying high up in the air above her. While she doesn’t know what exactly does it do, just catching the sight of it was more than enough to send her fumbling to stand up in a hurry, her hands reaching out to point at it and shouting “Shoot!” which materializes and sends another round of four Divine Shooter orbs which arcs upwards towards the bird hurriedly to try and blow it out of the sky.

And Nanoha just ran amongst the trees, parallel along the river line and keeping a lookout for whatever reaction coming from there. In her haste, she forgot about her phone which was now lying forgotten on the forest floor where she was hiding earlier, with a muffled hello coming from the other end…

Sorry for the late post. It has been hell, and probably will be hell for the past and next week.

Reaction!

As soon as Kaede notices that Haru starts to dart whatever was coming its way, the girl sets her foot on, and gather another round of water around her hands. She quickly races across the river with her Kori no Rondo trick by freezing her set-foot points into ice platforms and darting on them in quick speed. She continues to rush into the bushes, creating an incoming sound from the leaves, and raises her hand to the area she was seeing the shoots from.

Six long-shot bullets shoots out from the girl's right hand, and fires through the trees to target whoever just shot at Haru. The bird, on the other hand, flies higher and higher into the sky, while still trying to fight away from the divine shooters, and still locate where the opponent is- it is obvious to Kaede, however, that the opponent has already moved in location. The irregular movement pattern in the water particles around her tells all.

The girl ends up dashing into the location that Nanoha was originally at, and frantically turns and look all around her to see where her opponent is, with the other 6 of the dozen round water bullets still around her hands. Her left hand, on the other hand, is starting to materialize the 12 bullets into one firm orb, which then starts to shift form into something more like a circular shield of sort.

The girl closes her eyes again. She could hear her heart beating quickly, and her blood pumping through her veins rapidly. This needs to end fast, or things will get nasty and to her disadvantage. She almost feels that she has already set foot into her opponent's trap.

Yes, if this is an opponent with a brain similar to that of Tsubame, she would probably be in a lot of troubles.

"…. *muffled*hello?"

The girl quickly turns around in fright, only to find a phone on the ground. The girl frowns a little. Is this something that the opponent has dropped carelessly?

She quickly ruffles the phone to the side of a tree, and puts her back against the tree. She slowly slides down the tree, all while still be alert of the surrounding, her left hand's shield right next to her head. She dismisses the water from her right hand, and picks up the phone.

"… hello?"

Please let this not be a trap.

It was a good thing that Nanoha left her previous hiding spot earlier as she heard something passing through where she was earlier and made a shattering sound that made the hair on the back of her neck stand on ends. Due to that, she didn’t dare turn around to see what made that noise less the distraction maker her get caught into a stray attack from her opponent.

But after a while, Nanoha immediately stopped in her tracks when she finally noticed that her cellphone was no longer in her hand, and her heart skipped a beat again. Panic struck and made her head feeling slightly light and spinning around her eyes from too much adrenaline and thinking in such a short time. Rationality seemed liked an erstwhile option to her actions instead of a must. She was calling her brother, what if he picks up and he doesn’t know where she was?

Nanoha immediately turned around back towards where she came from, hoping that her cellphone is easy to find and escaped whatever harm or damage it might have incurred during her relatively short absence. What she found instead though was an unfamiliar girl holding her cellphone up to her ear… the cellphone that Hajime chose and bought for her.

“Drop that phone!” Nanoha yelled, running towards the girl while summoning two Divine Shooters and waved it towards the girl to do something about her cellphone in enemy hands. Twin Divine Shooter orbs would zip straight towards Kaede in a furious straight line.

"Drop that phone!"

Kaede abruptly looks up, and sees a girl rushing towards her, two shots of light thrown her way between herself and the assaulter. Her eyes widened, and raises both of her hands-

But she was too late.

Before her ice wall could have been completed in front of her, the divine shooter has already hit Kaede hard in the stomach, sending her down onto her butt and a few feet back. The other shot, however, was taken by the cellphone dropped from her hand, and broke when it came into contact with the second shot of divine shooter, effectively shielding one shot for Kaede.

Noting that this girl has been the person who has been attacking her, Kaede did not wait another second before deciding what to do. She quickly rolled out of the way, and into the bushes again, using the grass and bushes as her camouflage.

In the bush, Kaede puts her hand on her stomach, breathes in, and feels the pain that the muscles are giving her- the only good thing was that she has been practicing Kyudo, and the study of breathing has definitely helped her in attempting to protect herself from hits in the stomach. While it hurts like hell, it doesn't seem like there is any pain from breathing or from the interior of her body.

But that has also given her some chills in her skin- it seems that the girl is really out to kill her.

While the aquamancer has not really marked the face of the younger girl down, she could tell at least that this girl, whoever she is, is a strong, scary opponent. And her source of power… Kaede has originally thought that this would have been a photonmancer that she would be facing. However, the hit she has received… That does not feel like something that light could have done. Or is the girl's power also photomancy, just vastly different from that of what she has experienced from other photonmancers such as Damon and J Murray?

She shakes her head. She must not think about these things right now. If anything, she needs to either fend off, or disable the girl right now, or escape.

She looks around. It seems that running would be out of question, given that the only route to escape is the river, and the river is way too shallow for her to escape far without being shot by the bullets from the opponent.

Then fending off would be the best way?

She frowns. For now, at least, she needs to get away.

The girl shifts her position, and moves around in the bush again. However, in order to make sure that her opponent would not notice her, Kaede also shot out another few bullets from her hand to all different directions to create stirs all around the area.

What should she do?

Nanoha’s world seems to come to a screeching halt when she saw her phone break into many tiny pieces. For a brief moment, Kaede was entirely forgotten as Nanoha kneeled down to uselessly recover the pieces of her cellphone in her hand. The world that was gray through her eyes at first was now splashed with red. Whatever fears she had for the ice mage was replaced by the need to inflict as much pain as possible to repay the loss of her cellphone and the memories attached to it. It seems just like the ice mage to humiliate her at any chance.

Carefully, after dropping the pieces of her phone back onto the ground, she slowly reaches for Raising Heart by her side, now being intrinsically aware of her oppressive surroundings. She wondered where the ice mage would attack from next, as she sure would, and true enough, a hail of bullets came out from nowhere aimed towards her. Instinctively, Nanoha jump and rolled to the side, hoping to avoid it but she misjudged the number of the shots fired and felt a sharp tingling pain coursing through around her left thigh where a single bullet hit her, causing her to tumble ingloriously into the ground but very well behind the cover of a tree.

Despite the pain, she stood out of the cover and swung Raising Heart at a general direction where she assumed the bullets were coming from, launching four Divine Shooter orbs in hope to somehow get her ice mage by just sheer luck. If not, she hoped she would at least scare her out of hiding with them…

There was a few moments of silence between her throwing the water orbs out, and the next stir of the forest. Did she get the assaulter?

The girl decides to take a look. There is something beginning to brew in her mind - some self doubts. Judging from the cell phone and the decorations on the device, whoever she is fighting seems to be a girl. And, to be honest, given her previous experience with the mysterious shadowmancer, along with the past experience with the trio, this is more and more less like a person who has decided to be out and killing. Even that hit just now...

Kaede presses her hand on her stomach where it hurts. If that orb that hit her just now was not pure energy orb, but was shaped into some sort of sharp object, there is a high chance that she would have died already. But she is still alive and sound. Besides, this doesn't seem to her to be a photomancer's attacks, either, now that she thinks about it.

Is this simply her over-reaction to the surrounding, and has mistaken for some reason?

The girl looks out from her hiding spot, only to be greeted, once again, by the light orbs that hit her so hard earlier on. However, this time, the orbs were not traveling as fast, as unpredicted, or as surprising as earlier on.

However, if she wants to stop fighting, there must be some sort of negotiation. Some sort of chance for them to speak to each other. Some sort of... Right, way for them to face each other.

It doesn't seem that the opponent would be willing enough to walk out into the light, just because, well, nobody would be willing to step out just like that, given that they were just heavily assaulted by some water orbs, too, right?

Then, she'd have to move it first herself.

Kaede steps out from her hiding, step to her side to let the shooting orbs fly pass her and hits all the branches. She then raises her hand to raises a thick, water wall in front of her from the river, and waits.

What would happen to the eyes of Nanoha, is that the entire river has been raised to a wall, from the end of the waterfall to the end of the river banks. It is as if they have rose to become a full curtain, sheltering and protecting whoever is behind the river right now.

The wall is for her to defend herself when needed. However, for now, maybe she can start talking.

"Whoever I am fighting, please cease it! I am sorry for starting it all, but it may have been a miscommunication!" The girl yells at the top of her lungs. She is praying, for certain, that this will not become an action that she would regret later.

Turning around, she peered over her cover to see a tall wall of water now standing between her where she surmised the ice mage would be, and true enough, she can hear shout at her for an apology, in a voice she doesn’t recognize at all. For a moment, Nanoha was visibly shaken at the thought that everything up until was just a mistake, that this was all just one huge and absurd misunderstanding on their part. She could be a local herself, maybe a student or something that she hasn’t met before which can happen.

She wanted to believe that it was all a case of mistaken identity… but the ice mage she remembered was a devious witch who would stoop so low to even trick her opponent to lower their guard. Maybe right now, she was actually setting up for a kill and the moment she accepts it, she would be dead. Again.

And this time, Hajime wouldn’t be around to save her.

“Not this time, witch!” Nanoha screamed in reply, before she stood up and out of her cover and jumped, sending herself high up into the sky finally with the aid of Flier Fin in the form of luminescent wings of light that formed at her feet. Her barrier jacket finally formed up too, to protect herself as she was finally going to get serious.

“Take this! Divine Buster!” Nanoha roared, turning and pointing Raising Heart towards the wall of water. A magic circle formed underneath her feet and a stream of bright light erupted from the front of Raising heart that rushes straight towards the wall with every intention to destroy it and anything standing behind it!

The negotiation didn't work. Much to the surprise of Kaede.

This is not only because the fact that the opponent has rejected her proposal to ceasefire, but also because of the fact that the opponent has called her a witch. That only means one thing- this is an enemy. This can mean that it is an Shinto extremist that she is facing, but, more possibly, mean that this person who she is facing is actually an extremist who believes in witchcraft- a possibility that she is someone with a similar background as the previous Trio.

If that is the case, no talking is needed. They will never listen. Sad but true. Those who would go as far as attempting to kill another person for their own beliefs will probably have a strong belief of their own ideals, that they probably won't give such ideal up until some sort of life-or-death situation appears, and changes their view dynamically. For the Trio, it was the betrayal of their own family.

For this one, though?

Kaede knew not what to do anymore. All she knew is, if she wishes to live, she needs to fight this out. To the best of her ability, too.

This means she needs to get serious. If she does not, she may as well lose her life right now.

And that is not even close to what she wants to do. She has way too many things else that she wants to do than to die here because of some other person's firm and extreme belief.

The girl quickly rolls to the side as soon as she hears the reply of the opponent, and realizes that negotiation has failed. As she rolls, she shoves the glasses from her nose bridge to her pocket. She then proceeds to pull off her necklace by force as well, and shoves that into her pocket as well.

She closes her eyes, and leaves herself blind in the dark, and leaves her sensory completely to that of the water particles in the air.

What Nanoha would hear, is right after she has fired the shot, there is a rattle in the grass. The shot would have fired through the ice wall, shattering and leaving the ice wall with a giant hole in the process, and create a rather huge crater on the ground, and causes the tree around the crater to shake tremendously, almost falling due to the strong impact.

There is no time for Nanoha to actually be searching, however, because immediately after the shot landed, what would appear behind her is a huge mass of water that forms into a huge number of water bullets, and fires down onto her from above like rain.

At the same time, a figure would run below from the grass to the water fall when Nanoha may be distracted from the attack from above.

Yes, Kaede is running up the water fall.

As soon as she approaches the water fall, she extends her hand, and freezes the water fall into a wall similar to that of rock-climbing wall but with a stronger and wider platform, which she proceeds to use as stairs to climb up. After she has gotten up a certain height, she turns around, and jumps towards Nanoha, her hands forming a motion of pulling a bow, shooting from her mid-air position four consecutive ice arrows with razor-sharp tips at the mid-air magus.

Unless Nanoha is falling down onto the already-existing ice wall, it seems that there is almost no escape from the mid-air attack.
