The impish little red head, Celia, was poking her nose around the shrine. She figured there might be some hidden room. While she hadn't heard of any legends about ye olde rich dude gave to the mikos in times long past huge stacks of loot, she decided to give it a shot anyways. And since anything that wasn't specifically claimed was unowned, it was therefore 'finder's keepers' should she find, saw an ancient cache of gold or silver, an lost Japanese Emporer's Crown, or a magical artifact left by a long forgotten, but powerful priestess.

While to any unobservant eye, her looking around for hidden passages might seem like a child was doing it. In reality, the girl was actually exercising her honed skill at treasure hunting.

Satoshi Yagyu let out a relaxed sigh as he reached the peak of the stone steps ascending the hill that led to the old Shrine located in Hyakuji. Since getting settled into his dorm he had wanted to visit the Shrine as soon as possible after hearing about it. It was something that reminded him of both his parents and his Clan. He had plotted his visit carefully. Checking schedules he determined which days held no events and thus had less people present since the Shrine was always open simply for visitors to come and view.

Clad in his ninja garb, scarf slung around his lower face to obscure his identity to some degree, Satoshi had set out from the dorms moving secretly until he got further into the city and could convert to moving by the rooftops until he reached the hill itself where the Shrine rested. Clung to his back was Muramasa and Murakumo rested at his side; his usual compliment. Of course, he did not intend to use either one seriously. If the Shrine were empty he thought it would make a nice place to practice with Murakumo.

He couldn't quite say why but he felt compelled to bring Muramasa along as well; just in case. Even though he had been careful to hide his gear within his dorm room he was still uneasy about them being discovered. It could be dangerous for someone to stumble upon Muramasa... or this is what he told himself.

"Cool," he mumbled trying to hold back his excitement to prevent making too much noise as he took in the full view of the Shrine itself. Advancing swiftly, his feet not making a single sound, Satoshi approached the main entrance of the Shrine itself. As he got closer it looked as if there was a single person present: a young girl who looked to be snooping around as if she had lost a toy or something.

Satoshi's eyes sharpened instinctively as he placed his back near the wall and then peered around the corner of the open entrance way studying the girl. Judging from her appearance she was probably a student at the school. If not she was certainly in their age range. Being careful not to stick out too far, Satoshi continued watching silently wondering what she was up to. Training didn't matter at this point. He wouldn't be able to do anything until she left anyways.

Ninja or not, Satoshi was dealing with someone who had senses about as keen as they come. Superior senses was one of the powers in possession of Celia. However, not expecting company, she did not see or hear Satoshi, the boy's ninja skills aided him well.

However, her keen sense of smell had picked up on the boy, as the smell of another human filled the air. She turned her head upward, sniffed the air twice... and then, speedily, with a flick of the girl's wrist, a small gray pellet hit the ground, and a cloud of smoke erupted from where she stood. Having moved through the smoke, she was gone from sight when it dissipated.

She then attempts to approach him from behind. Unless caught, when she's close behind him, she shouts "Hey, what's up?" in a very friendly and jovial tone.

"Huh!?" Satoshi wondered to himself in shock as the girl dropped what seemed to be a smoke bomb obscuring her presence. Had she sensed him? Wait a minute. Smoke bomb!? Was she a ninja too? Satoshi's eyes narrowed studying the scene before trying to discern her location while another train of thought pondered her identity. His mind instantly sprung to that day in the Yagyu Clan village. All at once it was like a light had flashed on in his head and before the girl would have time to come around from the flank he began to take action.

When Celia turned the corner she would find the boy she had picked up on was nowhere to be seen. Whether she gave her cheerful greeting or not didn't matter as there was no one there to receive it. However, before she had much time to ponder where he had went Satoshi sprang into action. As the girl cut around to approach from behind Satoshi had scaled the outer wall of the Shrine and then balanced himself between two long boards of wood running under the rooftop's overhang.

Exhaling softly, Satoshi dropped from his position landing directly behind the girl as he pressed a small object against the small of her back. In truth this was just a nearby stick that had been strewn onto the entrance area of the Shrine, but its size was consistent with a small dagger and thus excellent for a feint.

"Who are you?" Satoshi questioned with his voice muffled slightly from the scarf's position to hide the lower half of his face. Perhaps it was an overreaction, but once he had sighting what seemed to be a smoke bomb his instincts took entirely over and before he knew it this was the situation he found himself in.

As she turned the corner, Celia was surprised that there wasn't someone nearby. "Huh? I coulda sworn I smelled someone..." she thought, standing still with her finger touching her bottom lip "Did my senses play tricks on me? Maybe I smelled some sort of anim.."

Celia's train of thoughts stopped when the boy's stick was touching the back of her head. True, she had a very keen sense of touch, but it's not like she could tell the difference between the two. A sweat drop appears on her forehead.

"Ehehehe... Guess I have some explaining to do." she shallowly laughed "I'm Celia Stark, or 'Smoke Bomb' as some of my friends back home call me. I'm the world's greatest treasure hunter. I was hoping that there was a hidden panel or something that would reveal an ancient, forgotten, unclaimed treasure. Because if it's a treasure nobody's claimed, then it's not stealing if I take it for myself, right?"

She pauses for a second.

"Um... Could you pretty please stop pointing whatever that is your pointing at the back of my head?" she asked.

"So a Thief," Satoshi concluded from her story with a dry tone. At times it could be required for a ninja to steal something as well; like battle plans or important documents. However, there was no honor in stealing things simply for personal gain. Pulling back the object held against her Satoshi extended his arm past the side of her head from behind. As his hand would come into view she would see that all he had been holding was a rather stubby twig. Gently, he let go of it and as it dropped to the ground he retracted his arm.

Having granted her request, the ninja boy leaned against the wall of the Shrine crossing his arms as he glanced at this 'treasure hunter' and studied he carefully. She looked close in age so perhaps she was a student as well. He was no thankful he had kept his face concealed. Trying to steal from a Shrine, especially if it had some secret treasure, was certainly something punishable. However, Satoshi was a ninja with no Clan to answer to and no master to serve. He had no duty to guard over Hyakuji's Shrine.

"I won't stop you," Satoshi offered thoughtfully breaking the silence between them, "If you can live with the dishonor of being a Thief then it is not my place to intervene here."

Celia was a bit shocked when she was accused of being a thief. She was so not a thief.

"Theif? Waaait. Wait, wait, wait. Wait. I'm not a thief, I'm a treasure hunter! Calling a treasure hunter a thief is pretty much the worst thing you can call them, you know!" she told him, angry over the insult.

"I said that I was looking for unclaimed treasure. Like maybe find a hidden panel or something that's been forgotten for like 500 years or something, and would reveal a cache of gold and silver and other awesome crud that nobody even knew about."

She leaned up against a wall opposite of Satoshi.

"I've raided Lost Mayan Temples in South America, nobody's laid claim to the junk there. Heck, the whole civilization that used to own that stuff it is gone. I've raided lost underground lairs of long dead bandit lords in Korea. The people who last had the stuff were dead, and they didn't even properly own that stuff in the first place. Taken the loot from lost viking caches in Scandinavia, and more. The way I see it, if someone hasn't said it's their's, then it's not stealing if you take it."

"That's a crooked way of looking at things," Satoshi commented as Celia began to try and defend her position, "If there were treasure here then it belongs to this Shrine; not to the first person to find it." To the ninja boy, the matter seemed cut and dry. She was clearly compelled by her own greed. Ultimately, Satoshi knew he wouldn't have to act on this matter. In situations like this, a person's greed always came back to haunt them in the end.

"A Thief is a Thief," Satoshi added as he glanced towards the girl, "You might have a reasoning to justify your actions to yourself, but in the end your actions are the same." It was pretty clear he wouldn't change his mind on this matter. However, at the same time he did not intend to impede her search. Were he ordered then of course, but he was no longer in a situation where he had someone to answer to.

"You don't have to hold up because of me," he added with a soft laugh, "I'll keep my word. I won't get in your way or try to stop you if you do find something. I merely came to have a look at this Shrine."

" I guess you have a point." she shrugged, looking a bit guilty.

She jumps on thick looking tree branch, and hands upside down from it, facing the ninja boy as she does it, her long hair dangling towards the ground.

"I'll admit, I'm fairly greedy. That's why I've risked my neck time and again enough to get an butt load of loot from some ancient place that's been outta use for centuries." she stated "But I'm not evil. And I'm not a thief. I never take things that people own. I only take things that nobody else has claimed, or even knows about for that matter. If you say the shrine would own the treasure, then it's their property, I won't take it, Treasure Huntress's Honor."

She drops down, and does a hand stand, before getting back on her own two feet.

"I guess I'll just have to stick to looting places that are totally abandoned." she stated.

At that moment she faced palmed.

"... And I guess if this place isn't abandoned, then if there was treasure, someone would have found it by now." she told him.

"Hard to say," Satoshi commented thoughtfully as Celia finished her train of thought, "Old shrines like this one tend to have a lot of well kept secrets." He didn't bother commenting on her promise not to loot anything from the shrine. As he had stated originally, it wasn't his business or duty what happened to this particular shrine or its belongings. Still, he had come here originally to check it out so he supposed he should at least do that.

Kicking off the wall, the ninja boy walked off from the girl stepping just inside to the main room of the shrine where she had been searching for treasure. It was certainly an old shrine. Probably older than the rest of the town itself. Still, there was something about being there that felt familiar to Satoshi; it reminded him of the small hidden village where his Clan had trained.

As he examined the main room his mind wandered back to Celia. Just what kind of treasure would be found in a shrine like this? Perhaps a sword, like the two he was carrying. He had never considered it before, but both were probably highly valuable due to their age, reputation and craftsmanship. However, Satoshi knew he would never find out an exact value; neither could leave his grasp.

Murakumo was guarded by the Yagyu Clan and passed down to him. As their sole survivor he felt honored to guard it. Muramasa, on the other hand, was a cursed blade. It was far too dangerous to ever let another handle it at this point. That is, of course, if the demon blade would even allow another to hold it as it seemed quite content remaining stuck to him despite all efforts.

Celia keeps checking the shrine for places. She checks a gong, and checks carefully for some mechanism for it to open the door. No dice. She keeps an eye on the wall for a wierd looking stone brick. One looked slightly out of place, and she tried pressing on it. Didn't budge. It was just a slightly caddy-whacked stone.

She doesn't seem to be having too much luck right now. Maybe this place was ordinary. I mean, It's not like every American church had a secret room where an ancient relic was stored.

She walks up to Satoshi.

"No dice. I'm not seeing anything. Look, I'm from overseas. And Japan isn't a place I've traveled to as much as European countries or South American countries. So any tips that might be relevant?" she asked.

As he continued to admire the shrine, Satoshi took note of the girl's continued search. This shrine was certainly old enough to have some sort of secret or treasure, but that was no guarantee. Eventually, she approached him asking for advice. Slowly, he raised a hand to his forehead as if in thought and then grasping Murakumo drew it, still sheathed, from his side.

Slowly, he tapped the wooden floor of the shrine with the sheath letting it make a low dull thudding sound. Returning the sheath to its proper place he smiled eagerly towards Celia. "Look for floor board that doesn't have that sound," Satoshi added with a wink, "It's a long shot, but it's something you haven't tried yet at least."

He had no way to know if this would actually be helpful to Celia, but it seemed like a logical next step if simply checking the walls and other features of the room hadn't worked. He wouldn't help her in her search, but there was no harm giving a little friendly advice.

"Hmm... That could work." she tells him. Despite her supernaturally sharp senses, she was still reliant on sight over all else. True, she could make use of her senses. She started walking around... no dice. It took her a while to get back. She tapped on floors, and even the walls. She later came back.

"Meh, this may be a normal shrine." she guesses "I found a cellar full of Sake for Festivals, but that's about it."

The barrels had been unlabeled, but she had been able to smell the contents of the barrels through the wood.

When Celia returned she would find Satoshi in the center of the room. The sword from the sheath at his side had been drawn and he seemed to be practicing a kata repeatedly performing the same motion of an overhead slash. The sword seemed incredibly well made almost as if it glistened due to its craftsmanship. Noticing her return, Satoshi nodded and sheathed Murakumo listening to what she had to say.

"Well," Satoshi began with a laugh, "I'm not surprised. This city is old though. Have you tried checking in the forests surrounding the city... and that mountain too... I can't remember it's name... I'm new here, actually." He had wished he could be more help, but only now did it sink in that he didn't know the city very well. This was something that would have to change.

"Sorry," he added with a friendly nod, "I don't really know much more that could help you."

"Trying to find ancient, lost ruins without proper information is like trying to find a needle in a haystack." she told him.

She thought of something.

"You know, at some point, I'm gonna hafta invite you with me for a treasure hunt. You're not only fast on your feet, you're probably careful enough not to activate traps. Trust me, if you can tread lightly enough that I only detected you by smell rather than hearing, you're probably careful enough not to activate the trip wire that would send you plummeting to a spiky death." she tells him, then beginning to laugh at her own comment.
