NICE DRIVE!
|
"You don't have to apologize," Hiro commented in a concerned tone seeing the conflict Hina was going through in her eyes. Almost as if driven uncontrollably at this point he began to approach her and then slowly wrapped his arms around her embracing her tightly in a hug. He couldn't stand to see her this upset; and it was all his fault. "I should be the one apologizing to you," Hiro whispered softly, "I invited you over under false pretense and then dumped all this on you. But please, don't worry about the students. I can promise you they will make it back. And you shouldn't worry too much over me, ya know." His final words took an uplifting turn trying to inspire Hina to feel a bit better about the situation. "You're the school nurse so I know you've read the file on me," he added with a soft laugh, "Do you really think I'll be that easy to push over even if we're fighting something out of this world?" Inside, Hiro felt torn. His first thought was to make Hina some promise about his own return. However, for the first time in a long time he didn't know if that was a guarantee. He had broken too many promises in the past; he wasn't about to force that kind of situation again. Still, in this moment, realizing how important Hina had already become to him he was apprehensive to accept his own worst case scenario contingency plan. He knew he had to do what needed to be done and he knew he couldn't damn the students to share his own fate when they had so much more of their lives to look forward to. Even so, Hiro wanted more nights like this one... with Hina... |

When Hiro approached her and wrapped his strong arms around her Hinata dropped her arms to the side and let herself be embraced. She leaned into him, her cheek against his chest, and continued to softly sob and cry while lifting her arms to his back, desperately holding on to his shirt as if the comfort she could get depended on how hard she could cling on to him. With eyes closed Hina struggled to calm down and pace her breathing, inhaling and exhaling slowly sensing Hiro’s scent and just try to compose herself. It felt like via their closeness Hiro was borrowing her some of his strength and soon she stopped crying as she listened to his soothing voice. She appreciated that Hiro tried to cheer her up and make her feel better, it was sweet of him but not enough for her to be able to downplay the severity of the whole situation. Hinata knew that he was a powerful mage, a very powerful mage, but was Hiro right in think that he could defeat something out of this world? She wanted to believe in him, in Aracia, but she was truly afraid of the worst possible outcome. Hina needed time to accept this but time was something they didn’t have. But she had to believe in him and that they would all return home safely, there was no other option and she wouldn’t accept anything else but the defeat of the alien monster and the safe return of Arcadia. Her hands clutched at the back of his shirt a little tighter, hugging Hiro close, and took deep calming breaths through her nose and exhaling slowly through her mouth. Usually Hinata wasn’t the type who rushed forward into romantic relationship, yes she could be emotional but when it came to love she was somewhat old-fashioned and wanted to date and get to know the other person. But with this reveal and the combination of fear and worry over the approaching confrontation with a creature from outer space it was like she had taken a large leap emotionally and was already starting to feel strongly for Hiro. There were so many what ifs running through her mind, so many scenarios that could have been and if they failed never would be… No, she couldn’t let herself continue thinking like that. She needed to be strong. She needed to show her support. And she needed to have fate and believe in both Hiro’s abilities and the students. Hinata was feeling better and more composed no and she wanted to tell him to protect the students, that he should be careful and not take unnecessary risks, that they should have well made strategic plans and that if he needed her all he had to do was call. But it was all obvious things, things that Hiro probably had been over and over himself and so she ended up whispering, “I believe in you. The students will return safely and…” she tilted her head back to look up at him “and so will you.” He needed to come back, come back to her. |

"Thank you, Hina," Hiro answered with a warm smile as he gazed back into her eyes. They had grown close rather fast, or so it felt to Hiro, so he knew this would be hard on her. However, it was better than than the alternative. The idea of saying nothing and him just not turning up the next day and her having to find out that way just seemed cruel. Even if her words now were simply to hide her own concerns, Hiro felt reassured in her spoken confidence. "Listen," Hiro added as he let go of Hina but remained close whispering softly, "I'm sorry about tonight. I don't know if you want to call it a date or not, but I invited you over on false pretense. If.... no... When I return, I want to have a real date with you. If you'll accept?" It was sudden and very direct, but the gravity of the situation with Arcadia had shifted Hiro's own perspective on things. He couldn't deny his own feelings. At the same time, it was something of an unspoken promise for his own return. Who knows how long till the next situation like this. Hiro didn't feel like it was worth waiting around due to his own apprehension driven by fears from his past. At least in the sense it was something to look forward to. A reason to fight with every ounce of his being to ensure he saw the coming day. Sure, he had plenty of other reasons. For the sake of Arcadia. For the sake of Eldritch Influence. For the sake of his students. However, this was something far more personal. |

Hinata let her hands drop down to her sides when Hiro let her go. It felt a little cold now without his arms around her and she wished that they could have stayed like that a little bit longer, but even if they had she probably would have wanted more in the end. It was unusual for her to want such close contact so soon but just this evening had already thrown her through a whirlwind of emotions and Hinata was realizing quickly that her attraction for Hiro was starting to grow into a deeper kind of affection. It scared her a little, especially now after his reveal about being the leader of Arcadia and the knowledge of what they were going to do tomorrow night. When Hiro sprung his question at her it caused her mouth to fall slightly open. She hadn't expected something like that now, especially considering what was going down tomorrow night. he should be concentrating on that and not a date... Or is it because of tomorrow night he is asking me? By making plans after the battle it meant that both of them was expecting his safe return and it gave them something to look forward to when everything once was over. Slowly her gaping mouth turned into a smile instead and Hinata nodded, "Oh! I- I'd love to, Hiro." Suddenly she felt very warm and happy. "And You shouldn't feel guilty about tonight. It's true that is wasn't exactly as I had thought it would be like but things seldom are." And, if she was going to be perfectly honest, a part of her was glad that he had told her. If, against all doubt, something would happen to Hiro or the students she felt thankful that she wouldn't be in the dark, fumbling for answers and feel the despair of not knowing what had happened. Lifting her hands up to her face Hina rubbed her eyes and patted her cheeks just to refresh herself a little. She looked up at Hiro after dropping down her arms and gave him a somewhat sad smile, "I think it's time for me to leave." She didn't want to disturb him any further and he probably had a lot to prepare for tomorrow. |

"I suppose you're right," Hiro commented in a half-cheerful tone still feeling slightly guilty about how things turned out, "Thank you, Hina. It means a lot to me to have your understanding. Don't feel helpless tomorrow. Even if you're not coming along you've already done quite a bit to help the situation, to be honest." As she commented about leaving Hiro nodded slowly, "You're right. We both still have a full school day to look forward to tomorrow. And I still have a lot of things to prepare for Arcadia's business tomorrow. Aside from this matter hanging over us though... I had a really nice time." Stepping past Hina, Hiro moved towards the front door to the apartment and opened the door slowly holding it open for her to step through. "Don't worry about cleaning up or the dishes," he added cheerfully trying to keep things sounding as everyday as possible, "After I walk you out and lock up the store again I'll take care of all that stuff. You already did far too much helping me to fix the sukiyaki; I'll have to cut you off here~" |

“Are you sure?” Hina asked hesitantly as she glanced at the table and the dishes but silenced when Hiro insisted on doing it by himself after locking up. She gave him a silent nod and after a quick look over her shoulder she walked passed Hiro who was holding the door open for her and exited the apartment. Descending the stairs Hinata said loudly “I too, despite the circumstances, have had a great time this evening. And I’m happy that we will do it again…” she silenced just to hinder any negative thoughts and then turned around looking over her shoulder and flashed Hiro a smile, “I’m looking forward to it- I mean the date… ” Hina felt her heart flutter at the mentioning of a date as she got off the stairs and made her way through the backroom and the store. Hina stood by the front door and looked at Hiro with warm smile, “Good night Hiro and thank you for the lovely dinner.” She lingering for a moment, torn between wanting the evening to last longer but also get home and calmly think through what had happened and what had been said. Slowly turning around to leave Hina was just about to take a step out when she spun around and unexpectedly threw her arms around Hiro’s neck and kissed him... She hugged him tight, her hands flat against his back pressing the two of them closer together and crushing her soft lips against his, kissing him with all the fear and hope she felt inside. Warmth rushed from where Hiro’s lips were touching hers and spread throughout her body like wildfire before consuming her completely. Hina's heart was pounding against her chest so hard and fast she was almost afraid it would explode and she felt lightheaded as blood rushed to her head. It was an intense and passionate kiss but also mixed with sadness and desperation in the way she was clinging to him with tears burning behind her closed eyes. In a way Hina was trying to convey the feelings she couldn’t say to Hiro out loud with words; the strong feeling of affection that had suddenly rapidly grown strong in the light of his reveal, the sadness of him having go, the responsibility of this knowledge, her worry about his safety and wellbeing, the faith she had in him succeeding but also the deep fear of this possibly being the last time they would see each other. She had never felt like this before neither had she ever done something so drastic and unlike her, but if something did happen to Hiro then Hina didn’t want to regret that she hadn’t seized the moment before it slipped away.
