Hello Hyakuji, my collecting hobby is well known throughout those who actually speak to me. While my collection does span across multiple toylines and genres, it goes without saying I primarily gun for Kamen Riders I like. As such, I decided to put together an in depth look of one of them. If I generate interest I don't mind showing off my whole collection but for now I'll show off one of my favorites of this year... Yosuke Reviews: S.H. Figuarts Masked Rider 1/Kamen Rider 1/Kamen Rider Ichigou!masked warrior commander:trollface: ![]() ![]() Simple Style and Heroic Action. SHFiguarts is a line that expresses art through human movements. When it comes to action figures of this style and size, Tamashii Nations has got it covered with this line, featuring some of the most posable bodies in addition to rather show accurate sculpts. The packaging is very simple and compact and while I don't capture it, this particular one is colored in the same vein as the Rider within himself, featuring two silver lines along the side of the box. But we're not here to talk about that, lets get on to the figure proper. ![]() ![]() ![]() Ichigou stands at roughly five and a half inches tall, and I'll say it right now that my camera does not do the detailing on this guy justice. The paint job is spot on, receiving a nice matte finish on the black and green parts. All the detail is nicely sculpted in, from the wrinkles in the suit, to the lining of his boots. Even the fan and the rivets on the typhoon belt are fully detailed and painted. Its of note they even put a layer of clear plastic ontop of the belt fan, making it shine and making it even truer to the original belt. Further the helmet is gorgeous and features the "compound eye" effect done rather well, sculpted detail with a layer of clear plastic, something the line does with all its Riders. ![]() And what is an SHF without its accessories? Ichigo comes with more than you would expect from a character who primarily fought hand to hand. In addition to his fists, he gets another three pairs of hands in the form of calm, open hands, a pair of hands that are meant to grip onto things and a pair of flat hands so he can execute the Rider Chop. But wait, why is there another flat hand on the right...? ![]() The flat hand with the curled thumb is the one used to recreate his titular transformation pose, of course! About the only thing I find missing from the hand selection is maybe one for pointing at things, as Hongo had the tendency to do that a lot. Still nothing is robbed of me and swapping them is an easy affair as the wrist is a ball joint that you can pull off and pop hands back on with relative ease and a nice, tight fit that doesn't restrict movement. The other accessories he comes with are also easy to explain. The one that seems most out of place is the sword. This is a sword wielded by the Shocker Grunts, of which Ichigo tended to steal for his own usage. Next is an alternative scarf piece meant for poses blowing in the wind and like the hands is swapped out on a simple ball joint. The scarf is nice and detailed and well implemented in my opinion though it doesn't plug in all too well around his neck and does prevent the neck from looking down but nothing that deters play value. The last piece is an effect part that fits over the right foot for the infamous Rider Kick. ![]() Posability is all there. The elbows are double jointed and we get a bicep swivel as well. Shoulder has a full range of motion and nothing hinders their movement. ![]() ![]() We get an impressive ab crunch here. Actually able to bend over convincingly and the torso sculpt actually has more of his chest piece under it, so there is no awkward gap when you do move him this way. ![]() Unfortunately for some, the ankles are not the usual hinged ones (I'll probably review a figure with them next) and instead we have ball jointed ones. this is about as far as the tilt goes so any further you'll have the figure balancing on the sides of his feet. Of course, the actual hips are not limited to this and it is fully capable of doing the splits if you desire. Ichigo also features the "Type-1" hip, which allows for one to pull the joint down for extra range. The knees are also double jointed allowing for impressive range as well. All in all, solid release and a good representation of the character. If you like him? Feel free to get him as thankfully Rider Merchandise is slowly making its way to Amazon.com thanks to Bluefin, Ichigo himself is readily available for 30 USD, a steal if you ask me. And now I close with some glamour shots...! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() RIDER CHOP! ![]() TOH! ![]() RIDER KICK! ![]() Until next time, folks!! |

Hey so I figured I'd keep going. If you want to post feel free to, and if you want a better look at something else I own feel free to request something to be reviewed. If you want you can donate a toy for me to review (haha no). I realized that I mentioned a lot of terms like Type-2 and hinged feet in my last review so I thought I'd follow it up with another one, and keeping with the Showa theme of the first lets keep it up with a show that aired a decade later...! Yosuke Reviews: S.H. Figuarts Masked Rider BLACK! ![]() ![]() One of the lines older releases, Kamen Rider Black was the first Figuart from the Showa Era of Kamen Rider shows. Usual comments about the packaging being compact and simple, even more so since the box was mostly grey on the front. It was only until the W era where boxart started getting more series focused. But I'm not going to keep you long and move right on to the toy. ![]() ![]() ![]() A lot simpler in terms of sculpt compared to Ichigo, Black sports some rather thin proportions and while some may say this isn't show accurate, the skinniness does work because it makes him feel more insect-like in my opinion, and fits given how you see the half-bug in his transformation sequence. It is of note all of the "Power Stripes" on Black's limb and helmet are sculpted in and then painted, making them pop out a little more if they were painted on. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of the Golgom emblem on his chest, which is just tampo'd on and as you can see on mine, prone to being scratched. Still, while the body itself is plain, every other spot is wonderfully detailed as the belt buckle is molded and detailed and the kingstone features a red layer of clear plastic in order to bring it out and make it look alive. ![]() ![]() His head is also properly rendered and his antennae are made of a soft plastic, so be careful to prevent snapping them off. Also a better look at the detailing of his eyes, same method as Ichigo's as usual. ![]() Underneath the shoulder pads is a detail I love the most about this figure. While I can't capture it properly all the joints except the knee and neck ones, meaning waist, shoulder and wrists are done in a brown color with detailing sculpted in to make them look like muscles. Another bit of show accuracy here. ![]() Black is of a simpler accessory count than Ichigo, only featuring alternate hands. In addition to his fists he has a pair of splayed open "rage" hands, a pair of chopping hands, and a right rand with two fingers pointing, included to recreate one of Black's signature poses. ![]() The shoulder pads do prevent his arm from raising as high as Ichigo's, this is because of the shoulder pad being attached to the joint itself rather than the torso. This prevents them from getting entirely in the way when moving his arms around but overall nothing major. ![]() ![]() The abdomen having the muscle like detailing prevents an awkward gap when stretching him. Unfortunately, his chest piece does prevent him from bending forward as well as Ichigo. ![]() The ankle tilt probably isn't shown off best on this particular body. I can get them to go a little further but I'm currently afraid to do so due to how tight the joint is. Its of note that Black here has diecast feet as opposed to Ichigo's plastic ones. So while their posability may be the same, Black has the advantage of being more stable than others. As shown off in the pictures, Black has the Type-2 hip, which is a large balljoint fixed at the thigh. It cannot be extended like the Type-1 but I find this joint to be one that allows more fluid motion, and looks less awkward in certain poses. Its range is unfortunately not as good as the Type-1, as the Type-1 hip cannot go as high and wide due to the nature of its design. Black is another solid release and has aged well in three or so years the line has existed. While not without his flaws, Black still stands as one of the Figures that shows the basics of what SHF has to offer in terms of both playability and posability. Despite being an older release he is also available on Amazon thanks to Bluefin and the fact that he was recently "reissued" due to the release of Shadow Moon. Same value of 30 USD as well, though your milage may vary if you're not fond over his lack of accessories. Posing porn! ![]() ![]() KAMEN RIDER... ![]() ![]() BLACK! ![]() ![]() KINGSTONE...! ![]() FLAAAAAAAAAASH! ![]() Yurusan....! ![]() RIDER PAAAAAAANCH! ![]() ![]() RIDER KIIIIIIICK! Long time since my last one, delayed largely because of no time and the fact the weather's been horrible for lighting. So for now, I'm just gonna toss up a teaser of what's slowly being worked on, and since some photos haven't been taken yet (and I'm waiting on something in the mail to complete this), I want anyone who actually cares to read to ask a question or two, it'd help me address things I may gloss over while getting the pictures taken. so, up next... Yosuke Reviews: Super Robot Chogokin: the King of Braves GaoGaiGar! Along side the Key of victory Set 1: Goldion Hammerand maybe set two if I get it before I finish making everything ![]() ![]() ![]() COMING SOON |

So due to me wanting to wait for the Key of Victory Set 2 just so I can take the rest of the GaoGaiGar photos in one go, I decided to go back to Figuarts for a bit and explore something of the Heisei era flavor. Probably one of my favorite releases, despite having its own share of flaws... Yosuke Reviews: S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Skull Crystal! Today I'm dipping into one of the more expensive sides of collecting Bandai Products. You see, S.H. Figuarts, being a collectors line, is already pricey as is, going from 30-40$ befor shipping. Of course, when certain items shelfwarm...future releases relating to that series end up on the dreaded Tamashii Web Shop so they can guarantee profit. You see, ever since the Movie Riders from Kabuto were released and sold rather poorly...every movie Rider there after goes on the Japan only webshop. This requires a middleman in Japan to actually purchase from, so in addition to paying full retail for an item (as opposed to say, amiami and HLJ's discounted prices) you pay extra. Often bring the total to 60$ or more. ![]() You get a nice shipping box out of it though. ![]() ![]() Main differences on actual packaging is just the Tamashii Web Shop logo. Otherwise, same drill as always. ![]() As opposed to Black's glossy black body, Skull here is given a nice, matte finish to his colors. It is of note that the wrist and ankle bands can come off, so be careful when switching out his hands. ![]() The Lost Driver is sculpted rather well, though a minor nitpick comes from the fact they skimped out on detailing the actual Gaia Memory lodged in there. On releases like Kuuga and Agito, even the smallest bits of their belts have complete paint apps. ![]() Maximum Drive slot is also present though most other figures using the W body have a tendency of this popping off, so be careful here too. ![]() The scarf is wonderfully represented as its painted with a dirty white, giving it the feel it had on the actual suit. ![]() And lastly the head. The Crystal Head is kind of an odd deal, having a clear plastic later to attempt to mimic the effect of the actual head on Movie Taisen Core, I think it falls flat since it needs really specific lighting to bring out the shine in most cases. Though, the detail on his mouth is all there, and even the little bump that is supposed to represent something later... ![]() Despite his bigger shoulder pads, he's got some mad flexibility in the arms... ![]() He can also stretch pretty well! Though...this is the one thing I hate about the figure and everything under the mold for the W body. ![]() It cannot bend forward. At all. you can do so at the waist but the torso joint is almost pointless for trying to get any pose out of it, so in the end, he'll be pretty stiff if you want to be dynamic. ![]() At the very least he can get in some wide stances though. ![]() And here are his accessories. He has a lot to choose from in the form of an alternate head with the trademark scar (though they skimped on painting the red bit at the end), two fedoras: one with and one without the nick made by the Taboo Dopant. Mainly there if you want to pretend this is Dummy Skull. Two plastic cups to protect the scar head when wearing the hat, due to nasty case of paint transfer if left on too long. An alternate scarf for it blowing in the wind, and lastly four pairs of hands: gripping, calm open, open with fingers curled and open with fingers slightly spread apart. ![]() And of course his trademark weapon, the Skull Magnum. Sadly, it only comes in the folded up variety, so it doesn't move down so you can pretend he's loading in the Skull Memory. It's unfortunate that Exclusive doesn't really change anything other than price, so if you're willing to track a Skull down, you get your moneys worth. While he's purely an aftermarket figure now, meaning you have to check ebay and shops like Mandarake, he goes for about 3-5k yen before shipping. He's a solid release with a lot of playability, though first time buyers may want to use this guy as something to test the line with. Glamour Shot time! ![]() ![]() ![]() *lightning scar formation* ![]() ![]() "Saa...omae no tsumi o...kazoero" ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "You took the boss' form! RIDER KICK!" ![]() Until next time folks! |

This thread is becoming a pain in the ass to load on occasion due to image volume. I wonder if it's a problem for anyone to actually view it? Anyway. Show must go on with my reviews, and as usual, I appreciate comments and criticisms, even questions if I miss something vital. Taking a look at something other than a Rider for once we have... Yosuke Reviews: Super Robot Chogokin: The King of Braves GaoGaiGar! Skipping the box shots since they're in a post here already. For now, I'll be reviewing just the King of Braves himself, and doing the accessory packs in a separate one since I have enough images for this guy alone. Super Robot Chogokin is what people like to call Soul of Chogokin lite. They are notably smaller than Bandai's original Chogokin (Super-Alloy) line. Generally SoC's are giant and are loaded with gimmicks such as show accurate transformations and spring loaded rocket punches but with this line they shrink them to the size of the Figuarts line, use less metal and take out engineering heavy gimmicks for the sake of posability. ![]() ![]() Out the box we're treated to this. GGG is detailed and painted wonderfully. The Drill knees are chromed and can spin to a certain degree. The Liner Gao canopies and the protect shade emitters use clear plastic. Details such as doors and windows on the train shoulders are sculpted in. There is nothing missing as far as recreating the last Yuusha. ![]() His arm range is decent enough. While design does get in the way, there's still a lot of jointage to work with. The elbows are double jointed and a bicep swivel is included. ![]() While we're on the upper body I will show you that Galeon's mouth can even close. ![]() ![]() Decent enough ab crunch as well and back stretch as well. Stealth Gao does make it hard to bend back, but thats a given. It's of note that the wings are jointed a bit, allowing for you to bend them back to get out of the way of the arms and shoulders for other poses. ![]() See these feet? While they can't go very wide, they're a solid brick of metal, allowing for superb balance. They even made it so the side panels on the leg can open up a bit to make tilting the legs easier. ![]() Though the leg doesn't go up very high. The metal feet also weigh down the hip some so it makes the joint loose easily. ![]() Accessories is where the SRC line really shines however. By himself, GGG comes with effect parts for Broken Magnum and the Protect Shade, a Zonder core, the Dividing Driver, an extra head crest made of soft rubber if you feel worried that the hard plastic will break, an unmasked face, alternate panels for Stealth Gao and the lion mane. Hands you get two pairs: one flat and other calm. Two other hands are the hand for Protect Shade and Hell and Heaven. Now then...time to do this Yuusha Style. ![]() GAO...GAI...GAAAAAAR! ![]() Finally...the hero we have been waiting for... ![]() ![]() ![]() Has been born...! ![]() He is the King of Braves... ![]() GAOGAIGAR! ![]() Bending Space...! ![]() DIVIDING DRIVEEEEEER! ![]() Broken... ![]() MAGNUM! ![]() PROTECT SHADE! ![]() HELL ![]() AND HEAVEN! ![]() Gemu giru gan go gufo.... ![]() Hn....! ![]() YAAAAAAH....! ![]() HAAAAH! ![]() Now yo wait for Mamoru to get here~ Overall, for fans of the show or just the design. GGG is an awesome figure, and well worth the 50$ this line goes for. |
