Random idea that has cropped up, an IC yu-gi-oh tournament with the stipulation that each character's deck has some sort of theme that fits them. For example, Hiro would probably use a deck focused around Spellcasters (Dark Magician) while say somebody that's a Pyromancer would use fire-element monsters primarily or a burn-style deck. There is this site: http://www.duelingnetwork.com/ It's basically like the old YVD that let you play against people online but much more functional and easy to use. Unlike YVD it doesn't log the actual game play so we can't actually post a play by play turn by turn account but the way I see it we could still set up each duel with roleplay, the players coordinate some time to hop on DN and do the match and the the winner can give some brief roleplayed account of what went on and maybe their final turn and we roll on from there. Any interest in something like this? And/or suggestions/thoughts about integrating/executing it as an In-Character event? |

I'd definitely be there, either playing or judging, watching, mediating since I have said qualifications. >.> It seems like an interesting idea if enough people get behind it. |

Anything less would be uncivilized.

Sure, I'll give it a try. Shame I stopped playing high school and gave away all my cards to a friend in college. Well, at least he became a very happy friend. xD Psion and/or earth themed deck here I come~ |

Now, let's play together...under the clearest of blue skies.

I used to play Yu-Gi-Oh a lot on BYOND, but it's been so long @_@ I could actually join in on this, checking out the site as we If the deck has to have an overall theme, could it still have the staple cards (Mystical Space Typhoon, Mirror Force, etc.) as part of it, or should it be totally devoted to the theme? |

They are called staples for a reason. As far as the themes go, in my opinion, your deck needs to be noticeably that theme when played. For example, using Hiro again, if I netdecked some uber top tier deck and then swaped out like two monsters for Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl... I don't think that would qualify as being Spellcaster themed. Even the decks you see using certain Archtypes (E-Heroes, etc.) you still see those staple traps/spells popping up. |

So that means I can bring some mini-tiny gadgets needed be pla- wait a second. Bring it guys. This sounds fun. I am sure Tsubame likes that idea. Question though. Traditional format? or Advanced format? |

Advanced would be best in my opinion. Aside from saving a lot of complications in general, DN has the current ban list marked on the cards in its deck builder so you can automatically know if something is forbidden/limited. |
