Shocking

It was rather nice outside tonight and Alice had decided now was as good a time as any to tour the campus and get a feel for it. The next school day would start her research. She could interview teachers and several students, ask them about their powers and how they found the school, if it was working for them... She was giddy with excitement. Yes, this research would work. This was the angle she needed. Her hands pushed deep into her pockets, her deep blue eyes skyward, the woman forgot about her tour and just focused on how beautiful the sky was. This darkness was fleeting. It wasn't solid and thick like the sort she remembered. She wasn't drowning here, it felt more as if... she were swimming upward toward the surface. |

Terado sat on the grass, his hands partially white with the chalk he'd laid down on the field for the various sporting lines for the kids. It always amazed him how much work he could get done in a few hours. Maybe he saw it as a work out and the faster and more accuraltey he did it, the more he would get out of it. He sighed, learning back on the grass in his overalls and cap looking at the clouds. He'd be lieing if he didn't say he missed it from time to time. The thrill of the chase, of hiding, of being found out by multiple organisations who all had a price on his head. But all that was a world away. At least here he had Lavender, although he'd yet to speak to her and she'd yet to notice his pressence here. She was obviously too distracted to check her mentors stone. Otherwise she'd have known it was him in an instant. Terado then heard something, grass crunshing underfoot. He sat up, his long ponytail swishing as he turned to see who it was. A young woman, with dark hair as long as his. "Ma'am, can I assist you?" he asked, wondering if it was another teacher on night patrol. |

Alice stiffened at first and was happy that the darkness hid the glower she shot in Terado's direction. Shadowed where she stood, the raven haired girl appraised him, then slowly stepped forward into the moonlight and smiled softly, shyly. "Oh... Hello! I know that I'm probably trespassing and I'm sorry... I don't mean anything by it!" She began twisting a piece of hair around her finger and frowned a bit, looking at her feet. "I'm just trying to give myself a tour. I intend to start some research on the students and teachers here so that I can perhaps write a book on the establishment. It'd be nice to have more young children know that places like this exist for those of them that are.... well, different, don't you think?" She cocked her head a bit, her features soft in the glow of the moon. She didn't approach the man further though and stiffened... seeming almost frightened. She hadn't ever seen anyone like him before, though.. |

Terado turned his body to face the woman, raising himself to his full height and dusting the remainder of the chalk off onto his pants leaving a bit of stain. But it would wash out, or blow off really. He fixed his cap onto his head and looked down at the woman, trying to not seem imposing depsite himself. "I see. Well so long as you're not intending to steal, break, dirty or vandalise anything I suppose it would be alright. I'm not one to worry about what the principal organises around here." For the most part it was true, Terado just made sure things were clean and well-maintained. When she mentioned spreading the word on places like Hyakuji, Terado tensed slightly. He had always been divided on this topic. Back home, Nova OASIS was a place to train espers for the greater good of man. But then there were Others, like the Maruaders, who wish to use power to dominate. That boy he'd fought from Kaimu was a clear example of power being at it's most chaotic. "I suppose it would be best to ensure such children got a correct education. After all, it's better than having them throw a tantrum." |

When the large man rose, Alice took a half step back almost into the shadows. Her gaze floated over him and maybe he'd notice the twitch at the corner of her mouth, the way her muscles went taunt, the way she stood taller.... trying to draw herself up to her full height and seem less...meek. She noticed his tensing and tilted her head a little, her gaze roaming his body again, analyzing... memorizing. "You don't seem to agree much... Do you think they should hide who they are?" her head cocked a little and she frowned. "Myself, I don't know what it feels like... but if I had my own children with these problems, I'd want them to be properly taken care of instead of using their skills for evil..." There was a long pause, and Alice cleared her throat. "I'm sorry, this will seem forward and not tactical at all of me but... What are you exactly? Could I ask you some questions?" Her eyes lit up and she reached for the canvas bag slung over her shoulder for one of her note pads. "It can be anonymousness if you want, I just... I really enjoy my research and you're very intriguing." There was a glint in her eyes, a smile on her lips. |

Terado noticed her actions and held back a smile. It seemed he'd involuntarily invoked somewhat of a dominance complex. It was natural really, his own pressence seemed to draw out something more feral within those around him. "It's not that they should hide who they are. One is perfectly capable of expressing oneself without setting a car on fire." Terado shrugged. "I can agree I'd prefer they're taught to use their powers for good as oppossed to evil, but evil is an inbred complex overcome by inner will. Truthfully, an uneducated evil can sometimes be more bearable than and educated good. But that's just a Janitor's opinion." Terado said with a bit of a grin. When she asked what Terado was and if she could ask him a few question, Terado raised an eyebrow. "Well I know for certain I'm a janitor. As for other questions, I don't see why not. Although I may choose to not answer some." |

Alice's face lit up and she grinned wide, fishing her notebook from her bag and sitting on the ground, her legs folded under her carefully. Of course, this would just make her smaller in comparison to him... but it was hard to write and stand. "So... You say you're a janitor, am I to assume you don't want to talk about exactly what you are?" She cocked her head a little as she scribbled notes it was easier to pretend like she needed to write to remember... "Even if you can't give me the exact name, could you give me a... modern term? Werewolf...?" she offered a smile, wondering if 'werewolf' was an offensive term. |

It was impolite to stand in company and as such, Terado sat down and crossed his legs, letting his arms sit lightly inside his lap. Of course if she guessed things then it couldn't be helped. She'd only guessed werewolf so far and that was his least revealing secret. He had plenty more to keep his identity secure. "It's not not offensive. But yes, I am a werewolf, a lycanthrope." That may be enough to qunch her thirst on the matter, but Terado couldn't be entirely sure. There was something off about this woman and he could sense it. An ulterior motive perhaps? Or something else entirely, he really had no idea. It's just that...well he really only had one way to describe it. It was like she was a lioness, having rolled around in the muck and dirt to help coat her scent from her prey so that she could creep up to them as close as possible, because, simply staying downwind was not enough. Well two could play the game, difference being that Terado would just be trying to keep his lip shut on asking her questions, lest he let something slip. "You seem rather...excited?" |

Alice beamed at her notes as she wrote, dipping her head in a nod as he spoke. "You see I'm very into my work, I love this. I find these things fascinating! I'm sorry if it's a little over bearing, you're just the first person so far I've gotten to properly speak to." The way she smiled at him couldn't be dangerous, could it? She was just enthusiastic and a fair bit intimidating by the large man with animal ears. "It may be all standard for you, but seeing someone... like you, is very odd for me!" Dipping her head again as she looked at her note pad, Alice lifted her sparkling eyes back to his. "As a lycanthrope, I'm assuming you can also change forms? Or is that an untrue falsity from fiction? If not, can I see? Is it painful for you, do you control it or does the moon control everything?" She lifted her pen to the sky and spun it around, motioning to the moon. There was a childlike excitement in her voice, wonder, awe... |

Perhaps Terado was overthinking things too much. She was clearly enthusiastic, but perhaps that was what was putting him off. Like some of those religious types who were a bit forceful about their own beliefs, literally trying to push them onto others. But still, he watched her silently and patiently. Terado then realised his ears were partially transformed. He didn't shape-shift them yet until the women asked about his transformation and what governed it. He rolled up the right sleeve of her overalls. "It's not entirely false, although the methods are often very obscured," He let his forearm slowly transform so she could see the process in slow-motion, watching as it increased in size, muscle mass and ferality. He closed his palm and opened it a few times, before letting the arm revert back to it's normal form. He then transformed one of his eyes so that it appeared more predator like in nature, while sitting next to his normal human eye. "The moon may govern some werewolf transformations, but I'm able to control mine at any time in the day. Even if I were to fall unconscious or heaven forbid, die, I would not change. Whatever is transformed would remain transformed and whatever is human in appearance would remain human, unless my final thought it that my body change back." Terado then touched his ears a bit bashfully. "My ears are the only exception. Sometimes under moonlight, the change of their own accord. It's always been a problem for me..." |

Alice nodded thoughtfully, watching him transform with child-like glee. "That's so cool!" She chirped, reaching a hand out to touch his arm... but she stopped and pulled it back. "Ah... It's not very polite to just touch someone, is it?" She flushed a bit and twisted her fingers into her hair. She looked at his ears longingly, but resisted the urge to ask to touch them. It wasn't hard to figure out what she wanted though... "A-ah... well. When you shift do you turn into a normal sized wolf? A larger one? Or a more 'monstrous' looking one?" She continued to ask questions as if she were interviewing a test subject, not talkign to a person. "Have you always been this way? Were you changed? Is this something you could bestow upon other people or is it only passed through breeding? Could you mate with a human and have it work or only one of your own kind?" |

Terado watched her a bit cautiously as she tried to reach out and touch him. He wasn't used to being touched. No one ever touched him or at least hadn't in the past 50 years. He'd almost forgotten what the sensation felt like. But such was the price of a hermit, to forego such things to be in tune with oneself. He shook his head, "Not of one's own accord no. Generally one would do the polite thing and ask." Terado didn't mind her asking. If she asked, he would let her feel. He wasn't phased whether she tried to procure a hair. Such things had happened in the past, having been captured by an organisation who had attempted to utilize his prowess. Of course, it would do them no good. Once detached from Terado, it was just that, hair. Human hair or dog hair. The meshing of the two seemed to be lost the moment a piece of him left his actual body. This was partially why he was so liberal in using his blood magic and shedding his blood everywhere during battle. When asked about his size, Terado took a moment to answer. "Well, I'm not sure what you'd classify monsterous, but I can assume a 3 meter tall, bipedal wolf-beast could be scary in some regard." When asked about how it was transferred, Terado seemed to become a bit more silent again, if only for a moment. A yes there was the trick of it. However he spoke all the same, "I was born with these powers yes. However as on how they are transferred, I can control whether to give these powers or not. Simply being cut, bitten or mixing my blood with another's is not enough. I need to will it to happen. As for breeding, I cannot tell you, I have no children of my own" At least none that he knew of, "And so I cannot really give you an answer. I suppose if I were to guess, the same principle would apply. Unless I was initiating or openly accepting in regards to intercourse, no proginy that I father would be bestowed with my powers." Perhaps he'd been giving away too much. The werewolves of this era spread lycanthropy like a virus. For him to speak of having so much control over this might imply he was something more than just a werewolf... |

"Fascinating..." She cooed, taking her notes eagerly, nodding her head often as the man spoke. He could be a lot of help, she thought. He could enhance them more than she could, more than likely... Alice frowned at her notes then and looked at him, sighing and holding her pad on her lap. "I don't know what else to ask!" For a long time she was silent, almost as if she had started ignoring his existence... then with a sharp 'Ah!' She sat up and began writing again. "What about your childhood? Or rather your first experience with your powers? Were you born like this or changed yourself? Was shifting into human society hard? How did it make you feel?" |

Terado stroked his chin, "Well, that's a bit tricky to answer, considering I was a baby. But I assuming I was born and looked the same way a human was and then just gradually learned to control my inner beast from there." However, it was when she asked him about his early life with his family that got his mind in a bit of a fix. Terado didn't really like that question, in his early life he never actually interacted with humans at all. It was really only after the fall of his clan and recieving Gaia's immortal blessing that he intereacted with humans and even then it was only trusting one individual at a time. "I grew up in a farming community in the mountains. I didn't really interact with a lot of people and given my current occupation I still don't. It's not that I don't like humans, I'm just content with my own company." Terado then grinned a bit, his teeth now visible and certain ones like his incisors being sharper than usual. "Of course, I could probably guess the same of you. While you may be interested in learning about others for whatever reasons, I see you more of the type to prefer looking over a good book than perhaps spending an evening dancing with friends." |

"People are interesting, but terrible." She murmured, quietly taking notes. "Humans have the possibility to be loving, caring, and brutal. Sadly, more often than not, they gravitate toward the latter." She finished her notes and looked up at him, her eyes still glimmering with interest. "We're all animals on the inside, you know? We're all vicious beasts. That's why I find these powers so fascinating... it's almost as if they've tapped into that inner beast and are controlling it...." Blushing a little, Alice shook her head and looked at her lap, nervously twisting her fingers into her hair. "It's strange to talk about, isn't it? But you're right.... I don't much enjoy the company of others unless it's to ask questions. I'm not the best at human interactions, I come off too forward or too pulled away... depending on the situation. I don't ever seem to belong..." Alice frowned a little and inwardly chuckled. Who wanted to fit in? |
