As the snow fell at the front gates and night started to descend, a finally delivery was made. It wasn't from any kind of postal service that was normal and it looked to be an international carrier. A black truck arrived in a rush. It parked with its back in the space closest to the gate. And without the driver ever stepping foot outside of the truck, the back doors swung open and a swarm of people dressed in white suits emerged.

Why white and not black? It was snowing outside, that's why. A ramp would be placed and a long crate would roll out of the back of the truck. It would be rolled right through the gates, opened by some of the other men, and into the school's front yard. And with a lift by a couple of the men, the crate would be set on the ground in a standing position. The crate was easily eight feet tall and there was no telling what was inside aside from the fact that it was probably huge.

And once the crate was set, the men would rush back into the truck and it would drive off before the back doors were even closed. Hyakuji High school had just gotten a special delivery and a generous donation. It was given a protector, one that would be as cold as ice.

Hookay... now that was weird.

Seth stood there, stock still, watching the truck rev away without so much as a glance to the boy who was standing there at the front gate extremely bewildered at the event. The soft snowflakes that drifted slowly down from the high-bound atmosphere landed on the crate standing right in front of him, slowly building up a layer of white as the time passes. It was a serene scene, if not slightly weird.

Curiosity engulfed him, and he couldn't just stand here while looking at something that pretty much said, "Come here and check me out!" There was a limit to how much a human being can stand not knowing, and he had just hit his limit. He raised his foot, setting it down in front of him, eliciting a soft crunch from the snows flattened by his foot. The same thing happened a short moments later as he made his way closer to the peculiar looking crate. It didn't have anything stuck to it, nothing like a stamp or anything, nothing official or whatever. It's just a frikkin' large 8 foot crate placed randomly in front of a school for superhumans. "What do you think, V?" He said, raising a hand to touch it.

I dunno. Real strange, if that's the answer you're hoping. The meta-virus said in his head, quite uninterested in the conspicuous oversized package.

The crate would sit there, unmoving and silent as those that watched it gazed at it with curiosity. It would seem as if it were some kind of random package or trap. After all, who really did those kinds of things. It would have been a bomb or a trap or something. It couldn't be good right? Good things came in well...good packages, not crates. However, such a fear did not exist for one student. He would approach the crate, hoping to know what it was. Would he be the very first victim? Or would he happen upon a grand treasure?

It was a true mystery, with danger and everything! And luckily enough for the curious fellow and his meta-virus, the answer would be given quite quickly. Without a warning of any kind, the front part of the crate, which would be the top if it was still lying down, would fly off and zoom passed the boy's face. And there, a sight would be available to behold. A tall hulking mass of metal.

A robot that towered over anything any human had to offer. However, there would still be no motion from the thing. How did the lid even fly off in the first place? It was some weird stuff, but that was the mystery that enticed people. And those with super powers were still just human. As such, curiosity would always lead them closer.

What? Past his face? No way, that's boring. The front part did not fly past, him. It SMACKED him in the face. HARD. That it literally sent him flying backwards with an exaggerated amount of "OW!" and "GAAHHH!" After tumbling back a good few yards backwards, he groaned in pain, clutching his head that felt as though he had been hit HARD by a baseball bat. "Oww... what was that all about...?" He struggled to push himself up, opening his eyes bleakly before turning to the supposedly now exposed cratewoh.

Now that's something you don't see everyday. He had seen gargantuan sized mecha a lot back at the underground factory. Twice, in fact. Heck, he even got to pilot one of them. But still, it was a special occasion, and you don't get to see two super robot duking it out with each other. But that's irrelevant. The only similarities between the super robots back then and the, um...

Well.

They're both robots. Except this one is about 8 feet tall instead of 30 meters tall. Even then, it's still not something you get to see everyday. I mean, where and when else do you get to see some random delivery agency dropping off a crate stuffed with a robot? Naturally, he wanted to check it out, and his fingers are twitchy for it. He made his way to the robot, raising a finger to gently and lightly poke-

KONK!

"WHAH! V, what are you doing?!" Instead of a small light jab, the meta-virus inside his head had decided to be a little bit rough on it, by knocking his fist HARD on the construct.

Okay, you're overusing it.

The large hulking thing known now as only a robot was had not moved at all. It probably wasn't activated or something. One would even think that it was being lazy, if a robot could do such a thing. So with the not-so-light poke from the boy, he would be met with silence and pain if he hit the thing too hard. After all, it was a solid robot with a strong metal hull. There would be a few moments of awkward silence and wonderment before something actually did happen.

The sound of mechanisms from within the thing could be heard. It was starting up! Some might even half expect to see a logo and a loading bar appear, but that wasn't something that could be seen by them. And after a few short moments, the large robot was finally moving. It stepped out of the crate that it was in and into the snow that had fallen onto the ground. There was less of a crunch and more of a slight sizzle as its foot pushed down into the snow. And once it had cleared the crate, a wind blew that caused its cape to blow along with it.

The hulking beast stood towering over the boy for a moment, staring clear over his head at the school. And then, it would turn around and pick up the crate that it was in. The large box would be hoisted up and set on its shoulder before the thing turned back around and faced the boy, not saying a word.

He backed away the moment the construct came to life, stepping back a few feet giving room for it to exit the box. Or rather, he was kinda nervous at the robot coming to life that he couldn't help but make some distance just to be safe. The way it kinda ignored him was actually pretty creepy in it's own way, but he couldn't feel any sort of hostility from the construct. It was there, cold, lifeless, moving and it felt so natural. It's kinda like how a fan is supposed to spin, or how a lamp is supposed to give out lights and all, really.

He relaxed his tense shoulder as he kept watch on the construct, only to tense up again when the robot moved and picked the crate it was residing in just moments before. The construct heaved the heavy looking wooden crate and rested it on its shoulder without so much as a strain on its body. It looked down (literally) to Seth, who was standing there in a battle-ready stance, poised to leap out of the way if it ever had any hidden hostile intention. Seconds turned to minutes, and the construct simply stayed there, unmoving, continuing to gaze into the eyes of Seth. It wasn't long before Seth himself lowered his guard, seeing as the robot itself didn't seem like it's going to move any time soon.

"Hhuh..." He gave a small sigh, realizing how stupid he looked staring at the motionless robot without doing anything. He glanced around, making sure there was no one in the vicinity. Because what he was going to do was something that easily spells stupid. And maybe a bit embarrassing if anyone finds out. There was a small pause as he contemplated the options, before opening his mouth and, "Uh... hi?"

See. Told you it sounds stupid.

The robot stared down to the boy, motionless and speechless as it towered over the student. It was near impossible to tell what it was even doing from outside, but many things were going on instead the hulking thing. The programs and start-ups for the machine were being set and it was being prepared for the extended stay at the school. Even now, it was pulling up a map of the school, life forms in the vicinity and the best course of action for its goal.

What was that goal? It was to properly dispose of the crate that it had come in. Leaving it in the snow was bad for the school and the environment, so it was programmed to not let such a thing occur. Once the best course of action was found, the robot would begin to move, only to be greeted by the student. "Hello student, please make way as I dispose of the garbage." It said to the boy in a completely electronic voice. It was clearly a voice that had no hint of human within it. It wasn't even a recording.

The voice was synthesized purely electronically. It would then turn away from the student and start to head toward one of the corners of the front building. Around the other side of that corner was a dumpster and where the large robot was headed.

He was gaping in bewilderment as the robot went ahead and did whatever it was intending to do. That reply felt so natural, even with such electronic sounding voice. He couldn't even tell if it was a programmed reply or whether it figured out what needs to be said all by itself. Well, only way to be sure.

He began taking steps after steps, following the robot in its wake as it made its way towards the dumpster somewhere at the other side of the front gate, probably with the intention of dumping the crate it was in earlier. Okay, that step could probably be easily programmed into a robot, but he's not interested in that. He reached up to it, holding up his hand to pat it on its back just to attract its attention. Though he's not sure how sensitive robots would be to the sense of touch. Or whether robots even have the sense of touch. He decided to ask it another question, no longer caring whether there's anyone around or not. "Hey! So uh, what's your name?"

He's not sure WHY he cared to socialize with a robot, though. Frankly, this all seemed kinda stupid. No, not just V, even Seth himself thought this is dumb.

The large machine would not feel the pat on its back. It did not have the sensors needed for such a motion. Its hull was there to protect it and sensors only served to weaken that. It would have touch sensors on other portions of its chassis, but not on its back where it was unneeded. After the crate was set where it needed to be the machine would turn to see the student speaking to it. Naturally, the thing would stand up straight to its full height to tower over the student.

While it would be intimidating to some, it did not do such a thing on purpose. It was asked for a name and as per the request; it would recite what it was called. "Model - 000 Alpha Legion Executioner." It would say at first in the usual electronically synthesized voice that it had. "As a student and a human, I am sure that you feel curiosity toward my arrival here. However understand that my primary directives are set to the protection of the students and the faculty here."

The machine added; following the set programming set in its system that would allow it to answer what would possibly be the next question. Of course, if it was programmed to be social, it would have asked for the student's name. However, that was not the purpose it was given and thus, not what it did.

...

"Aaa?"

Student? What kind of people would send in a robot to act as a student? Isn't that kind of redundant? Of course, its excuse of being sent as a protector would be a whole lot more acceptable, but who would have thought that Hyakuji ever really needed any protector in the form of a robot? It's a school full of meta-humans, they all can take care of themselves.

Curiosity engulfed him as he stroked his chin, examining the lifeless towering figure in front of him from head to toe. Not that it had any toes, mind you. Or perhaps, maybe someone from inside ordered it or something? Hah, ordered, that's a funny term to use. Quite fishy if you ask me. V said, in a tone that showed no concern to the hulking piece of metal whatsoever.

"You tell me that," He nodded slightly, mulling over the details in his head. Wait, can't he just ask the robot? He could, but he's not standing here in the cold just to have a conversation with a robot. "C'mon then, we're not staying outside, if you don't mind," He said, turning around and giving a small wave to indicate the robot to follow him. He began making his way towards the school, tucking his hands into his pocket to keep it from getting frostbites. "So... who sent you here, anyway?"

After placing away the garbage and finishing its task, the large machine turned to the student as he once again spoke. It would glance around at the snow and then give the student a nod.

"That would see to be the best decision. Human do not do well in cold weather over an extended period of time. With night coming, it would be the best course of action to do as you said." The thing would say, once again in its electronic voice. The large robot would then walk behind the student, moving to the doors of the front building. It would walk slowly so that it would not trample the boy in front of it and duck down into the door way to get into the building itself.

Then, the boy went on to question its origins, which the robot had an answer to, of course. "I am a donation provided by the Elade Organization. They want to ensure that meta-humans are not being abused or unused for purposes that are unbecoming of a peaceful world. Thus, I am here to protect and obverse this facility."

Well, looks like that one's not really confidential. But then again, giving out robots for the sake of the receiver could hardly count as something that needs the sender to be all secrety-secret. But then again, he wondered why would anyone want to give a school of meta-humans a protector when it's more than clear that even the students are more than capable of taking care of themselves?

Blah, too much thinking. He's got more than enough on his plate already-

"WHY WON'T YOU ANSWER ME???!!! HELLO?? THIS IS YOUR CELLPHONE!!! WHAT, YOU THINK YOU CAN JUST NOT ANSWER ME AND KEEP ME IN YOUR POCKET, LIKE SOME, DIRTY LITTLE ******-"

The nasty little obscenity coming from his pocket was cut off as he pressed the dial button of his cheap lousy cellphone. He glanced first at the dialer, confirming who he will have to address before placing the receiver at his ear. "Uh, hello? Yeah, it's me. Woah, hey, hold on, you're speaking to fast. I-I mean, no seriously, it's like you're talking in another language- What? What? WHAT?! Awh hell no!!! Ah, try to keep things under control, I'll be there right away!" He hung up, shoving the cellphone back into his pocket. "Sorry, but something important came up," He said, turning around to rush towards whatever the hell that got him so worked up that he had to leave a robot without any true guide to the entire school. Yeah, sure it seemed quite rude, but surely it can figure out a way through everything itself, right? Besides, he's not keen on thinking about the consequences of leaving the broken boiler unchecked for too long.

Oh, before that. "I'll see you again tomorrow in class! We'll be friends, okay?"

Hurm. Telling a robot that you want to be its friend. I wonder if that's touching or just plain retarded.

The robot watched the student silently. It would seem that the human was confused on the machine's intentions, which was completely understandable. However, before the conversation could actually go anywhere, a signal was being beamed to the student's pocket. It would be a cellphone call that he would be getting.

Though, because if was none of the robot's concern, it would not bother to intercept or eavesdrop on the call. Judging from the human's reactions and mannerisms, the huge machine concluded that something urgent had come up and soon it would be time for them to part. The machine would only watch as the student explained that it was time for him to go and they should meet up again.

He even asked the machine to be friends. "Machines are not things that need befriending. We are devices to be used." It told the boy before turning again and heading toward its original direction, the front office.
