Haien stood on the railing of the roof, his tail twisting around and shifting in order to allow him to keep his balance atop the building. He was...bored. For the first time in his life, Haien Arvoitus was bored. Granted, he HAD just moved to a new school. Granted, he WAS kind of odd, so people might avoid him. Granted, he DID wear girl's clothes, as well as a wig and makeup, so that he looked like a girl. But...at least back in his homeland, there was always some form of companionship, or the Endless Study. Haien sighed, and started to walk along the railing. After a few minutes, he got bored just walking, and put a little spin on it, adding a little more every time he got bored until he was basically dancing along the narrow rail that was all that kept people from falling off the roof.

A lot of people would consider that crazy, but Haien had always found that by challenging his body, he could clear his mind. And who knows! Maybe someone would see the crazy catboy dancing and come up to see what was going on. Granted, its not like anyone would actually KNOW he was a boy, not with the way he looked now. He giggled, and hummed to himself as he moved back and forth along the rail, giggling every now and then.

Ryu opened the stairwell door to the room. He had come up the roof to have a little time to hims self and to relax a little. The last few days had been hectic to say the least, what it the testing of the G3 rider system getting interrupted when the building came under attack let along all the things happening at the school. It would be nice to have a little time to rest.

Ryulet out a sigh and stretched a little, as he stretched he heard the sound of some one humming and giggling. He brought his arms to his side and looked around to see who else was up on the roof. "Hello is some one else up here?"

Haien stopped his capering and balanced on one foot on the guardrail. "Hi there." He said, giggling with the knowledge that his voice was sufficiently feminine to be mistaken for a girl. He stood there, balanced on one foot on the guardrail, the challange of balancing making his mind quite clear. "My name's Haien. What's yours?" He asked.

The newcomer...well, he couldn't PROPERLY be called that, since from the look of him, he had probably been around considerably longer than Haien. He was taller, with brown hair, and he wore a white shirt and a black leather jacket. Haien smiled dazzlingly, amber eyes meeting dark eyes. His catlike ears twitched, and Haien did a little hop, switching feet. "Might I ask why you're up here? Not that it's any of my business...but I'm curious."

As Ryu turned towards the sound of the voice that answered him she saw what he thought was a girl standing on the guard rail. This person appeared not to be normal given that cat ear and all but really what could be considered normal at Hyakuji, everyone seemed to have something they put them out side what the rest of the world considered normal. Some people had powered or abilities while others like this girl had physical appearance that set them outside the rest of the world’s norm, if anything Ryu was the one that was abnormal here in Hyakuji given his lack of powers when not wearing the G3 system.

“My name Ryu ” Ryu respond after the girl told him her name and asked for his. He watched was what he thought was a girl changed foots on the railing and then asked why he was up there. “I find the roof a great place to come that relax and collect ones thoughts. Its peaceful and quite up here. And yourself?” Ryu asked.

Haien tilted his head to one side. Though all this physical exertion was good for mental concentration, it was somewhat exhausting. He hopped down from rail, dusting off his girl's school uniform. "My reasons are much the same." Haien replied. The moment those words left his mouth, he mentally reprimanded himself. Human teenagers were rarely so formal. So it stood to reason that he could afford to discard High Court manners. "I love the feeling of being near the sky. Back home, you're always near the sky, no matter where you are. It's beautiful really." He turned to Ryu.

"You're...unusual." Haien said suddenly, tilting his head to the side again. He moved to about a foot away from Ryu and leaned close, examining his eyes. "You don't have any inborn powers, do you. No magick, no gift. And yet you're here." Haien rocked back on his heels. If the human, Ryu, had a good nose, he would notice that Haien had an herbal scent around him, as well as a faint, pleasant smoky smell. "You're not a Mage, you're not an Elemancer, you're not even a Meta, are you? But you're here, which means that there's something special about you."

Ryu watched as the cat girl, cat person, or whatever one would call one such as this jumped from the railing to the roof and talked about why she was up on the roof. Her reasoning was a little more elaborate than his own reason had been but in essence it was similar. He raised an eye brow as the girl said he was unusual. That was the first time he had been called that and mimicked his own train of thought a moment before. The girl seemed to have a keen intuition to be able to tell he didn’t have any powers or special ability by just looking at him; it was interesting to say the least.

“You’re right I do not have any special ability or powers really, I guess you could say I’m an odd ball compared to the rest of the school student body. “ Ryu laughed a little to himself as he said this and then leaned up with his back against the wall. “My reason for being here is really because my grandfather sent me here as a form of training I guess. He said it would help me to deal with people that more than just human, and there is also my part time job I guess.”

Ryu laughed to himself again slightly as he said this, it was a little more than a part time job testing out the G3 kamen rider system at Board. Once the system was cleared for field use it was probably become even more involving. “How were you able to tell I was just a human? ‘ Ryu asked as he put his hand in his pocket.

Haien flashed a dazzling smile at Ryu and sat on the railing, crossing his legs. "I'm magick. It comes with the package. Some magick users can tell with a look whether or not someone has powers, sort of an aura. But people like me, who are born from magick, we can tell with relative ease. It's in your eyes. There's no..." Haien trailed off. For a moment, he'd seemed just like any chatty girl. "Its...hard to describe. This odd sort of quality that we can see in a person's eyes. A sort of...recognition, sort of like reuniting with an old friend after a dozen years apart. We recognize the potential, the spark of power."

Haien bit his lip. The ability to recognize power was always hard to explain. "Grandfather..." He said, saying the word oddly, as though it was unfamiliar to him. Which, of course, it was. "What's it like to have family? Parents?" Haien asked, looking quite interested as he leaned forward.

From Haien question it appeared she didn’t know what the word Grandfather meant. Ryu recalled that she had just said that she was born from magic so maybe that was the reason she didn’t know what a Grandfather was or maybe her people just had a different word for it altogether. “Yes my Grandfather is part of my family. He is the father of my father.” Ryu said simply, hopefully she would understand, it would be kind of awkward to have to have the birds and the bees talk just to explain what a father was.

"Your father's father..." Haien echoed. He looked thoughtful. "Where I come from, we aren't raised by our parents. We don't even have an institution of marriage." He explained, uncrossing and recrossing his legs. "We have what's called 'parental partnerships.' Two of us get together solely for the purpose or reproduction. Two children are produced, one male, one female. The children go into the care of the whole city, rather than their own parents."

Haien tilted his head to the side. "What was it like, being raised by a family?"

Ryu listened quietly to Haien as her talked about her people’s way of raising children. He hadn’t asked about it the conversation just seemed too gravitated to it, still he found it interesting to say the least. Different cultures have different way of doing things he figured. It was just another thing that proved that Hyakuji was a place where the word normal was very hard to define.

Ryu looked at Haien again when she asked what it was like being raised by his family. “hmm… He paused for a second to think what to say. “That kind of a complicated question to answer … I guess it causes me to feel closeness to them that I don’t feel with other people. He said still thinking. “They are always there for you looking out for you pushing you to be your best… In the case of my grandfather the pushing part can get taken to the extreme.” Ryu said with a laugh and then a sigh as he smiled to himself.

Haien nodded, smiling faintly. Family sounded....nice. "What kind of stuff does your grandfather push you towards?" He asked curiously. "Back home, people are expected to pick something and study it for almost their whole life, then pass their work on to others. Kind of like a research team that never ends. I picked magick."

Haien stretched. "It must be nice to have people that close to you..." He looked up at the sky. "I kind of miss home. There wasn't much there, but it was home. Close to the sky, close to the stars." Haien shook his head, refocusing on Ryu. "I think I've monopolized this conversation enough. Is there anything on your mind, Ryu?"

“My Grand Father pushes me to train my mind and body and to learn the families fighting style. His is always telling me to focus on your goals while paying attention to the world around you and that ever experience in life of an opportunity to train yourself in one shape or another.” Ryu said in response to Haien first question. He listened to the rest of what Haien had to say, she sounded as if she was a tad home sick.

“It’s alright it made for pleasant conversation.” Ryu responded when Haien apologized to him. He smiled “As for what’s on my mind nothing really, just wondering what new challenge this school and town will send my way.” Ryu closed his eyes as he rested against the way still and then opened them. “ Tell me Haien what do you believe is the best way for two people with a true fighters sprite to communicate?

"Tell me Haien what do you believe is the best way for two people with a true fighters sprite to communicate?" Haien looked thoughtful for a second. "I wouldn't really know for sure. We're all priests where I come from. Even I'm a priest." Haien explained. "Our powers are designed for preservation of ourselves and others, not for war or combat. We don't really have any fighters."

Haien's forehad wrinked as he concentrated. "Maybe through their fighting style? Or through words? Or even through who they end up fighting?"

“ My families belief is that the best way for two people with a fighters spirit to communicate is through this first. A mere punch can do more than hurt someone it can convey how one feels about their person they are fighting of about the reasons they are fighting. It can even convey one own belief and pride.” Ryu said looking down at his own fist as he said this. This was the belief he inherited from his grandfather. He smiled a little.

“Combat as well can be more than just one person trying to harm anther. Each blow or strike can convey one’s own spirit to the person it aimed at. A strike can convey joy, sadness, shame, excitement, love, and anger. For one with a fighter’s sprite it is the perfect form of communication.” Ryu said sill looking at his fist. He then blinked and looked up for a second as if just realizing something.

When Haien spoke about herself she had said she was a priest but that couldn’t be right shouldn’t she have used the word priestess. He looked at Haien, she looked female enough but something about her features were still off. Bluntly Ryu said ‘You’re a guy aren’t you…”

Haien winked, putting one finger against the side of his nose. "Pretty good disguise, no?" He pulled off his wig. "I was a little surprised that you didn't catch on sooner. You strike me as someone who's rather perceptive." He leaned against the railing with a smug grin. "Before you ask, I'm not just some weirdo who dresses up as a girl. Though I do look damn good in it." He said, gesturing at his female uniform. "I'm an ambassador from my people to Hyakuji. And, as with all negotiations, there are people who don't want diplomatic channels re-opened."

Haien felt funny. Granted, everything he was saying was true, but he was used to the bald honesty of his own race. "However, the hunter is looking for a male with cat ears and a cat tail, not a female, thus making this the perfect disguise." He looked up at the sky again, then spoke a single word.

"Mercy."
