Character Name: Sol Kotori
Gender: Male
Age: Appears 17
Height: 6'1
Weight: 182 lbs
Description or Image of Character Appearance:

Big Image

Occupation: Student
Grade Level: 2nd Year/ Jr.
Powers/ Abilities: Due to the events which have taken place with Sol during the recent years, he is technically considered a spirit... in a sense. Sol is capable of manifesting the powers that most spirits in the afterlife can manifest when they try to cross back over to the other side. In Sol's case, considering he's more or less in limbo, his powers aren't quite as luxurious as other spirits.

The most noteworthy aspect of these powers is that in order to trigger them, Sol must technically 'lose' his mortal shell. He is capable of entering an 'Astral Projection' state which literally grants his body a series of powers but in exchange makes it seemingly impossible for him to actually come in physical contact with things.

Intangibility
Ummm... I'm a spirit in limbo. Not a poltergeist.

Sol can become intangible while using his Astral Projection state. While in this form his physical appearance and presence can still be felt and noticed however, he himself cannot make contact with any object while in this state. The ability to 'move' or even effect them is limited to living things which can see him and that's about it.

Upon entering this state however, Sol's physical body literally becomes an ethereal state. His clothes remain on, but his physical body is little to no more. Sol cannot be harmed using typical means, and technically he cannot be killed due to the fact that his body simply returns back to where it was the moment he went intangible. For minerals and materials such as water and earth Sol can choose to grip onto them as one normally would or pass through them.

In order to stop these powers, Sol must return to the area where he went Intangible in the first place. The exact location can be shifted due to natural means, IE The ground where he was standing has been removed or the rock which he was on top of has been moved several states over. In which case Sol can willingly simply cancel his 'Intangible' powers while he is within an area where he once was. Shockingly though, due to this power time cannot catch up with Sol and he seems to live as long as a standard ghost would, which is seemingly forever.

Note: Sol can take items with him while in this state so long as he was holding onto them/they were in his possession the moment he went intangible.

Invisibility
There's a reason why spirits spend most of their time in hiding... Just saying.

While in his 'Astral Projection' state Sol can willingly turn invisible at any point in time he wishes to do so. His body cannot be seen using conventional means, and considering that he can go intangible he's capable of not leaving tracks or a scent as well.

Though a great ability, Sol is unfortunately technically a living being while using this power and leaves a heat signature as would any and all living beings. Sadly, considering that Sol's Ethereal state causes for his signature of heat to linger there is always a heat signature leading directly towards where he was or is.

This power seemingly has no weaknesses and can be used at any point in time Sol wishes to do so. In this state however, he is limited to the same powers of his other Astral Projection limitations.

Note: When in this state, Sol can willingly choose to not trigger his Intangibility power, allowing him to simply become invisible. While simply invisible though Sol still bumps into things, leaves foot steps, releases a scent, and can be noticed by someone with exceptional tracking skills.

Immortality… Kinda
F*** my life

Sol is immortal… kinda.

Considering he’s a spirit he technically can live forever, assuming he lives forever using the proper… well… everything.

If he eats right, exercises daily, and avoids anything dangerous that would kill a normal man he can seemingly live forever.

In his Astral State, he’s capable of avoiding all diseases and he can seemingly repeat this process with a decent amount of understanding.

Weaknesses!?:
People die when they are killed... for those of us who don't... well... it's not as easy as it looks.

Unfortunately for Sol, being a living being in 'Limbo' comes with it's own set of rules, guidelines and technical weaknesses. Many are simply 'rumors' which are dispelled upon having been granted his powers, while some are seemingly silly weaknesses which reflect the nature of Sol's current position.

Flight
Not going to lie to you... I was shocked when i realized not all spirits can fly.

Flight is literally an impossible feat for Sol while in his Astral Projection: Intangibility state due to the very nature of his powers. Considering he himself is still living and as such still has a technical presence, he is unable to take to the skies and freely walk on the spiritual plane as most spirits can. He can be flown or carried while airborne yet the moment he goes intangible he is open to falling through whatever person or thing is currently flying him.

While in this form, Sol's "Astral Projection" start point either where ever the person flying lands and sits, or wherever he lands. This can become a problem when he lands in water considering he doesn't have to breathe but he must 'swim' up towards the top before turning solid again.

Haunting
I didn't expect that since I'm in the middle of each world... that it meant I could get bothered from each side.

Since Sol is technically capable of forming a link between the spiritual plane and the living one. He himself opens a door which makes him a fairly big target for being haunted. Spirits that want revenge, answers, and even for him to simply do random things like cut off the water at their old house. Sol isn't immune to their hauntings sadly, if anything it has made them more gutsy when it comes to having him do stuff for him.

As such, one of the most notorious issues that is brought up is that considering he has the ability to communicate with spirits, people assume it means he can control them. Exorcisms, and purifications don't work on him due to his nature and for some reason others believe he can remove spirits using such means.

At best it allows him to understand what they want, it doesn't give him free reign to do it or make them stop whatever it is that they're doing.

Semi-Solid
Honestly, I never got this one at all anyways...

Sol can't become a semi-solid under any means. At all.

The first issue with this power is that if he could harden his body while still being intangible the requirement for such a feat would require him to not move at all while he's using his powers. This would cause for his Astral Projection start point to be exactly where he is, and thus he can stop the powers at any point in time.

The second issue with this power myth is that even if Sol could be standing still, and whoever or whatever he was trying to touch was within range and stood within range for him to use his powers... that Sol has to become a solid himself. The issue with that is the minerals and materials which make up a human body would literally mix together and Sol would end up losing a hand, possibly cutting off the circulation to his hand, maybe infuse the blood of his target with his own, or something worse.

Combat... Expertise?
Easiest way to a victory is not to fight.

Sol can't fight while in his Astral Projection state, unless you count against other spirits. The moment he makes contact with something or someone while in this state he's often thrown into his Intangibility state, making it impossible for him to actual touch anyone.

It All Catches Up With You
Literally...

Sol's Astral Projection state allows him to become ghost-like, not quite an actual ghost mind you. When in this form he can negate temperature changes, intense winds, and even the effects of gravity itself.

However, he is still technically very much alive and as such is effected by some of the more standard effects of living. Considering he must still eat, sleep, and just about everything inbetween Sol will be exposed to all the effects of whatever it is that he missed while in his Astral State. He will starve, become dehydrated, and lose muscle build and tone as one normally would when he returns back to his physical form.

Emotions
I don't remember having the ability to defend my emotions... or my thoughts actually...

Sol cannot defend his mind or his mental state from someone who has the ability to effect his emotional state. Even while in his Astral Projection form he is open to emotional altering should someone be skilled enough, as for reading his mind, such a feat isn't possible unless they have the ability to communicate with spirits as well.

Communication
As a technical spirit, Sol has the ability to communicate with the spirits of... well... everything that has one. Things that are living, things that aren't living, and just about everything in between. With this ability, Sol can technically communicate as he normally would using his Astral projection state.

The reason why such a power is required is because while Intangible technically Sol's body cannot communicate as it normally would. Using this ability Sol is capable of forging a communication link using his spiritual presence alone. The communication can be fully understood and kept up so long as the other party is willing to listen when the case is involving another homosapien.

This power does extend towards animals, however it only works on those that have passed over and are willing to communicate with him. In Sol's case he can understand a spirit perfectly fine regardless of what it is, yet this power seems to only work if the spirit is stuck in a sort of Limbo as he is, or if they want his assistance.

Homosapien of any form however, don't have the luxury of keeping quiet from Sol even in death. So long as a trace spirit resides in the area Sol can communicate with them. The communication however, can very much be one sided as they can simply go silent and ignore Sol.

He can still die.

I ain’t dead yet…

Sol can still be killed via some rather complex means. Should his ‘Astral Form’ not go off for some reason or another, or should he be attacked in a highly spiritual place there’s a chance that his powers won’t work considering the connection between the spirit plane is at it’s strongest.

Personality Description:
You'd think in death you'd stop living... you'd have thought wrong.

Sol is gruff, tough, and not much when it comes to the combat field as a whole. The guy dislikes fighting to the point that he's often just portrayed as a pacifist. There are rumors that he doesn't even believe in defending himself considering the nature of his powers. Most of the people around him refuse to accept that someone with his physical appearance can be against fighting as a whole. He accepts life and embraces it in all forms, and when the idea of harming someone for any reason is brought up he's often quick to shy away from the idea as a whole.

Sol is quite the 'ladies man' in the sense that he likes ladies and that he's a man. Sol loves just about all females in all forms and is always willing to go out of his way to check one out when given the chance. This does not seem to expand far enough to the point that he's willing to talk to them as such. Whenever he's presented with a chance to talk to a female it comes across as awkward and literally painful for both parties involved.

The idea of weapons as a whole seems cowardly and off putting to Sol. Anything from blades, guns, and bats to the more hose hold items such as nails, screws, and needles. The idea of using weapons or even being confronted by them scares Sol to no end. He's easily made jumpy and confused when the idea of using them are brought up. Considering the situation behind his current powers it's not too much of a stretch for him to justify this dislike and possibly hate.

The intellect of Sol is something that is easily overlooked or written off considering his seemingly meaningless position when it comes to the rest of the world. Having spent a good amount of time of his life studying and reading seemingly endless amounts of worthless books and material, Sol has gained an immense knowledge of plenty of things. The only issue with this knowledge is that most of it is exceedingly worthless and don't seem to benefit Sol in any way except that he can talk about how much smarter he is then the people around him.

Sol isn't much of a hero, in fact he's the closest thing to an idiot when it comes to actually being one. The only thing that counts as a saving grace for Sol is that he feels as if he has to do the right thing when the time counts. Sure he can be cocky, annoying, flirtatious, and sometimes a total ass, but when it comes down to it he'll always help do the right thing even if it takes a bit of time. This does seem to make him a bit of a third wheel/unknown wheel when the time comes.

Considering how old Sol actually is, he has a very hard time keeping his true nature and age hidden. He has a fairly thick accent that makes him sound like an old man... a foreign old man at that. He has a taste for things that are much older then himself such as both art and music from era long since passed. The mention of such things as his age, interest, and past cause for Sol to quickly change the subject or simply to run away as soon as possible.

Personal History:
Time is as boring as you’d think it is…

Sol was born on… well… to be honest… Sol can’t really remember exactly where he was born. The name of the place has changed so many times that it’s become seemingly impossibly for the guy to remember such trivial details such as the original name. Even the time and place of his birth can only be narrowed down to some hundred years ago… some being one to four hundred give or take a few centuries.

Sol was born in a ship to two merchants who were a bit too poor to afford anything in life, let alone a child. When Sol was born, they felt it would be best that they keep the child hidden on their ship as they traded and exchanged with other merchants to avoid letting the secret get out that they had a child. The idea of having a child that one could not afford was something that had been unheard of, so naturally Sol did not have much to work with at his young age.

Growing up, the young Sol was taught to read and write using the standard booklets and material which his parents had kept around as a basis. His only comfort was in the belief that he could actually escape from the boredom of the ship using the artificial world he created in his own head.

Once he had reached the age of twelve, Sol was allowed to leave the ship so that he could act as their courier when on the main land. Packages and delivers that would have been passed to his mother and father would be sent to him and he would return them to his parents and visa versa. Such a simplistic style of living was one which Sol had learned to treasure due to the life he had been living before.

Sol continued these acts until he was roughly sixteen years of age, during which time he had been told that he’d have to watch over the area where his parents did their work without them. The two of them had to go on a ‘special’ pick up and could not afford for all of their work to go unattended to. The request was a seemingly tiny one and Sol himself had no actual problem with it.

What his parents had not told him was that the area where they had been living was presently falling under a new style of leadership. The old ruler had requested that the men and women of the land be registered to a family accordingly so that the foreigners whom had been entering the area could be weeded out. Considering Sol was not told of such events and he was never actually registered for anything, he did not have the luxury of understanding everything that was going on until it was far too late.

By the time Sol had been informed of what was going on, he literally couldn’t bring himself to tell the truth. His parents had abandoned him, he had no claim to a name or title, and he was going to be killed for having no sense of self. When he was presented with his death, Sol had been informed he would have his choice as to how he wished to die. The young man had literally no information or understanding as to how or why life was meant to be ended. As such, he was given the luxury of hanging considering he had no options left.

New Ways To Live

When Sol was taken and fitted with his noose so that he could be hung, a single violent light managed to blind him long enough to question him for what felt like forever. During this time, the light literally taunted him for his life or lack there of. Questioned if he was truly worth surviving, and in the end presented him with a single question that would forever determine what happened to him from that point on.

When presented with the question of life or death, despite all that Sol had been exposed to. The young seventeen year old man decided that he would take life with all of it’s flaws over a death that he felt was not his own.

When the rope was meant to tighten around his neck, Sol’s body took on a more spiritual form and it literally slipped through without any harm befalling him. Though the men and women of the area where confused as to how Sol had managed to escape the fate which had been dealt to him. The young man was saved and spared from dying… but sadly he was presented with a whole new set of powers. What the F* was going on with him?

It took Sol about several weeks to understand how he could become intangible, and roughly five days before he could understand the requirements for him keeping his bodies nutrients up. The amount of practice that went into this ‘training’ took well over several years. The limitations and abilities which Sol seemed to demand were so great that he could have literally wasted decades just attempting to test them.

As a matter of fact, that’s exactly what the teenager decided to do. Spending decades attempting to learn and expand on his powers, Sol began to get a new lease on life and all of its wonders. From those decades seemed to spawn centuries which he had spent wondering the world in a hope that he could better himself.

After having literally wandered the world for what felt like… well… forever Sol came to the conclusion that life wasn’t worth living if he couldn’t relive the time which had been stolen away from him. Sol has recently gone and enrolled at S.H. High School upon hearing rumors that there are people there whom have similar difficulties with life as he does.
