As Shad began to address Pazuzu the Size Mage had little time to finish his last sentence before the Demon Lord roared loudly and slashed downward severing the summoning circle as if it were nothing. Placing a single hand forward the skies darkened above the group as a gale wind exploded forth from Pazuzu. The powerful blast of wind lifted Shad from the ground as if he were weightless and then promptly slammed him full force into the nearest tree. "Boy," Pazuzu began in reply to Shad, "You are not one of my followers or you would know better than to talk to me that way." Slowly, his gaze turned back to the others who were more than likely shocked that the circle keeping him bound had been severed like it was nothing. "Do not be alarmed," Pazuzu continued, "Jonathan Desmond, you have impressed me. Yet you children should know you and your companions are far too inexperienced to contain a demon of the Maou Clan. There is no danger for you today. But in the future you may not find yourself so lucky." Slowly, Pazuzu began to walk forward towards Jonny. Each step he took caused the grass beneath the demon's feet to decay and die off in an instant. Without the summoning circle acting as a barrier between them all even someone with the vaguest of ability to sense power would feel an overwhelming evil force. "Jonathan Desmond," Pazuzu continued, "You desire strength. The strength to bring forth Justice. If you so desire this I will impart to you a token of my power. Take this..." Extending his right hand towards Jonny a pendant materialized in Pazuzu's grasp. The chain was cast in glittering silver and the pendant itself seemed to be made of some strange green jewel that glowed in odd illogical ways. "WAIT!" a new voice suddenly cried out as Hiro Tsukasa appeared running from the other direction. Leaning against the nearest tree as he tried to catch his breath Hiro quickly began to add to his command, "Don't take that. What are you kids doing!? Do you have any idea who you summoned?!" "Sorcerer," Pazuzu mumbled as he glanced towards Hiro, "My business is not with you; it is with my Summoner. Take heed you do not interfere between us further. Now, Jonathan Desmond, accept this gift and strive on to achieve your goal." |

"Well, that was interesting." Lucidus mumbled under his breath after watching Shad get slammed into a nearby tree. He honestly didn't think that the circle would of been broken, apaprently somehow it was messed up. This was leaving the lot of them in a bad situation, but apparently the demon wasn't quite that close to killing and devouring them. Lucidus was curious to say the least, normally when a demon get's free it would go straight to the death and destruction. Lucidus looked on as the pendant materialized, normally an item given from a demon is an extremely bad idea to take. Unless it goes through numerous cleansing rituals to disable any chance for the demon to possess said reciever because of the item recieved being a conduit for the demonic energy. Suddenly a man arrived warning the boy who summoned the demon not to take the pendant, Lucidus reckonized the man as the supernatural studies teacher from the school, Hiro Tsukasa. This was really convincing Lucidus that the pendant was not a good thing to take and the demon was indeed trouble. Lucidus materialized his bow and Fenrus came out, Fenrus jumped towards the demons arm attempting to bite him while Lucidus sent an arrow flying straight towards the pendant, hoping that it would get shot away. While this was a rather brash cause of action Lucidus didn't want to take any chances against a demon. "Sorry, but I can't take the risk of letting you run around with no chains." Lucidus was ready and willing to fight the demon even though he knew that he would probably be at most fodder. He was willing to risk it. Edited by Shadies, Apr 1 2011, 01:20 AM.

The seal was broken - Pazuzu was free. They had a boy slammed into a tree, and the demon was approaching. And... nothing happened. No death, no destruction - Pazuzu just stood there. But then, it was arguable that was all it needed to destroy them all if it wanted to. "Do not be alarmed," Pazuzu spoke, "Jonathan Desmond, you have impressed me. Yet you children should know you and your companions are far too inexperienced to contain a demon of the Maou Clan. There is no danger for you today. But in the future you may not find yourself so lucky." Well, he was using a seal that he had gained from a substitute teacher he never saw again. Not like he could have asked anyone else 'hey, how would I go about sealing a demon lord?' Jonny watched as Pazuzu then began to move forward towards him - him specifically - and the grass around the being dying with each step. To have such an unnatural power around it was... well, unnatural. "Jonathan Desmond," Pazuzu continued, "You desire strength. The strength to bring forth Justice. If you so desire this I will impart to you a token of my power. Take this..." Then the demon extended their hand towards the lad, a pendant beginning to form within it. It was of an exquisite make, and obviously from material value alone very valuable. The green gem in the center glowed like nothing he had ever seen before - perhaps because it shouldn't be possible to see things in such a manner. Amazed and awed by this, Jonny began to reach out with his own hand. This was what he had wanted - to gain power from the demon. Power to protect his friends... ...right? "WAIT!" Jonny's hand stopped just as it was about to grab the item, turning his head to see none other than Mr Tsukasa - his supernatural studies teacher. "Don't take that. What are you kids doing!? Do you have any idea who you summoned?!" Jonny looked from his teacher to the demon, and the back again. He had answers to both questions, but both were pretty vague to begin with... would his teacher really just say 'oh, okay' to them? Heck, was it right to take such an item from a demon? Sure, he saw it happen in class, but who knew what came as a result of that? "Sorcerer," Pazuzu mumbled as he glanced towards Hiro, "My business is not with you; it is with my Summoner. Take heed you do not interfere between us further. Now, Jonathan Desmond, accept this gift and strive on to achieve your goal." Pazuzu turned his gaze back to the child, who was now near frozen in trying to decide on his choice. Did he take the power he had gone through this whole process of summoning Pazuzu for, or did he heed the warnings of his teacher? The sound of bow being readied to fire and the appearance of a large beast gave him less time to decide his answer. He watched as the arrow, and whilst its cause would have otherwise been brief - his sight let him see it move in slow motion. The large wolf was on the move, its path being towards the demon's arm. If they attack Pazuzu, it was almost certain then that Pazuzu would respond far, far worse. And he didn't want anyone to die here - that was specifically why he'd chosen the location. In a burst of superspeed he reached out for the arrow, diverting its course even as the energy hurt his hand, as he simultaneously grabbed the pendant from Pazuzu's hand. From there, he rushed in front of the wolf, getting between it and the demon. "Stop it!" He yelled, holding the pendant in his hand, showing that he had accepted Pazuzu's gift. "Have you not seen what Lord Pazuzu has already done? The seal was broken. The winds followed his movements without delay. I have been polite, and courteous, so that he did not simply eat us all. So please, for the love of god, do not mess this up!" There was a great deal of stress on the boy's face. He clearly didn't want to fight anyone here - or to have anyone fight. "I summoned Pazuzu. I am the one who asked for his power - none of you! If this turns out to be a terrible mistake, then I will be the one to bear the consequences, not you. So please... just lower your weapon. Call off your wolf. I don't want anyone to die here." Edited by Jonny, Apr 1 2011, 09:20 AM.

As Lucidus began his assault Pazuzu's body tensed already preparing a powerful counter strike. Everyone present, regardless of their skill at sensing power, could feel the overwhelming surge of demonic energy radiating from within Pazuzu. But then, all at once, it stopped. The Demon Lord was literally taken off guard by Jonny's actions. Not only had the boy intercepted both attacks but in the process had accepted the pendant. Slowly Pazuzu laughed and pointed towards Lucidus, "Foolish boy! You should worship the ground Jonathan Desmond walks on for it is only through him that you still live at this very moment." "Let this be a lesson to you all in the future," Pazuzu added as he began to float into the air, "Jonathan Desmond, you will know what to do with my gift. I hope it serves your cause well. To the rest of you, pray to whatever will listen that we never cross paths again in your lifetime. I am Pazuzu... of the Maou Clan..." All at once, Pazuzu transmogrified into a cloud of smoke and began to rush off away from the group. As the cloud began to move another strong gale force wind picked up that, if everyone wasn't careful, would most likely pick them from the ground and toss them over. As the rush of wind dashed off and away it picked up Shad from the ground and slammed him hard into the tree a second time. Then there was nothing but silence in the forest. ITEM GET!
"Seriously," Hiro Tsukasa raised his voice in anger as he approached the group finally, "Are you guys trying to get yourselves killed!?" Unlike his students, Hiro well knew the extent of Pazuzu's power. As much as he wanted to prevent Jonny from accepting Pazuzu's gift he knew brunt force would have only made things worse. He hoped to have a chance for reasoning but in the flash of super speed everything had been decided. "Until you're an expert always find a low level demon to summon and inscribe their name onto the magic circle," he scolded them as he finally reached the group and held out his hand towards Jonny, "Give me the pendant. I'll have to seal it away inside my shop until I can work out how to destroy it in a way that leaves no traces that Pazuzu can pick up." |

Lucidus was confident that his arrow would hit it's mark and keep going with the pendant attached. However he was not prepared for the brief moment of superspeed where the arrow was taken and stabbed into the tree and Jonny placing himself between Fenrus and Pazuzu. Fenrus quickly stopped inches in front of Pazuzu, even if he was hiding a demon behind him Fenrus would never hurt an innocent kid. "Fine, take your corrupted trinket." Lucidus said calmly almost as if he didn't care. "It isn't my soul that's at stake." After Pazuzu left Lucidus dematerialized his bow, Fenrus however stayed out still hoping to observe what happened. He was very annoyed by how events resulted, he was hoping that he could get to kill the demon. The idea of a demon running around without anything preventing him from doing bad stuff was unsettling to Lucidus. As Hiro came over yelling at them Lucidus felt annoyed but he didn't voice his discomfort, at least not yet. The one thing he did agree with Hiro was giving him the amulet, Lucidus didn't trust the amulet it was from a demon. That never ended up as a use free of charge, Lucidus knew this he had experienced demonic trinkets in chance to get stronger. The difference was after the first few uses he knew it was bad and Fenrus made him get rid of them all together. "I agree, you should give it to him demonic trinkets are never good, even if they do give you power the price is to high." He was only attempting to convince Jonny becausee he could feel that Fenrus was going to annoy him over this later, and he couldn't be bothered with it after the events of today, he just wanted some peace and quiet instead of a stupid lecture. Jonny's heart skipped a few beats in the tense few moments, particularly as Pazuzu bellowed behind him. He had made the choice on impulse, thinking that if he didn't, Pazuzu would have exacted his vengeance upon the ones who had dared to assault him. That he might disregard the degree of involvement, and simply kill all present. The fact that such had not occured, and that instead Pazuzu was praising him for his actions... Was good, if not in an oddly ironic way. And as he listened to those words, he knew what they meant. The pendant fed him informaion, of a spell he had never conceived. This kind of power... it was incredible! As Pazuzu left the scene, Jonny braced himself for the gust of wind, managing to stay put. Though the kid who had been slammed into the tree got the same result a secondtime. Hopefully that wouldn't leave too great a bruise. As Mr Tsukasa approached, clearly angered by what had occured, Jonny looked down at the glowing gem in his hand. It's glow, whilst bright, wasn't so much that a shirt or two wouldn't be able to hide it from sight. Couldn't walk around with somehing this valuable on display. As he looked at it, he had failed to notice the teacher's extended hand, and when he did, looked at it with minor annoyance. "Look, I said I'd bear the consequences if this was a mistake, didn't I? And besides it was your shop being closed that meant I couldn't get any relevant material." He said. It was widely known that Mr Tsukasa owned a shop, and with mention of it being the location to seal the pendant -if Jonny actually considered handing it over- most likely meant that it, and the proprietory he had been referred to, were one and the same. "And it was your substitute who taught an entire class how to do this sort of summoning. If you don't want people risking this sort of thing, then don't let it slip into the curriculum." He snarked at his teacher as, instead of handing over the pendant, he outright put it on, the cool metal landing on his still moist chest. "I got what I came for though. Now I can fight tougher enemies... Keep my friends safe." He muttered as in another burst of speed, he changed into his clothes, returning to normal speeds as he finished slipping on his shirt, the gem's light now mostly hidden. |

The Middleman (stubborn, yet relaxed)

"Whoa...almost blacked out for a few seconds. I have to get back in training to avoid that scenario." Shad grunted, getting back to his feet after getting tossed into the tree, twice in one sitting. Other than a stinging back and a small migraine, he was relatively fine for the most part. "Ohhh....I am gonna have to skip a day of school to recover quickly." He groaned, wondering what the heck Pazuzu's problem was. 'Note to self, find a demon summoner, have him call Pazuzu, and get a explanation for his utter stupidity in striking me.' He thought, resetting any stiff bones in exchange for small discharges of pain through the nervous system. 'Oh wait...he probably didn't recognize me since Rozanny burnt down my clan's robes. I'll have to sew the symbols on by hand just in case.' "Hmm...by the looks of it, the best way would be to summon a angel of sorts to destroy the demon's magical item." Shad muttered under his breath, observing the evil pendant as it 'merged' with the boy's mana upon application. Was there a book on summoning angels back at the bookstore? If summoning demons was possible, angels could also be called. Just thinking about it stumped Shad a little bit, but he was ready to assist Hiro-sensei if the kid turned hostile or tried to run. |

"This is a demand," Hiro answered refusing to relent on confiscating the pendant from Jonny, "Not a request. You might think you can handle the consequences, but you have no idea what you're getting yourself into." His voice remained stern and commanding and his eyes held every level of seriousness in them. This wasn't some kind of prank or simple little joke students had played. They were dealing with a powerful demon that he knew even he would have a hard time fighting down; if he could even win. No demon ever gave a gift so freely without hidden consequences. "If not," Hiro continued as he started to approach Jonny, "I'll just have to take it from you. I'm dead serious about this. You need to trust me... as your Teacher, if nothing else." |

Lucidus nodded in agreement with Hiro demanding the pendant, it was more then likely big trouble. Sealing it seemed like the best course of action to Lucidus, the only thing was that Jonny was trying to keep it for himself, that didn't seem like a smart thing to do considering where he got the pendant from. "Hand it over, sometimes the burden given from those is not worth what you gain from it." Lucidus stated, voicing the same concerns as Hiro. He was somewhat suprised at Hiro's threat to take it from him, wondering if he meant by force or some other way. Despite the fact that Lucidus doubted that Hiro would need his help he sent a mental note to Fenrus to get ready to try and trap Jonny if need be, but he didn't make any other actions then that. He still thought it may be possible to convince Jonny to give the pendant over willingly, so he gave it a shot and continued talking. "What if the pendant has got a downside?" Lucidus took a small breath before continuing. "That downside might harm your friends, are you really willing to risk that?" |

"Who said my words were a request either?" He stared defiantly at the teacher, responding to each level of seriousness with one of his own. Though the teacher's words also made him more than a little... curious. "And how exactly would you know what I'm getting into? You summon and bind demons of your own before? Maybe even fight them? Pazuzu called you sorcerer, and without a single bit of sorcery. You've got a reputation among high level demons. Now I wonder why?" He said, a more than curious glare forming in his eyes. Questions were blazing through his head now. "I've had dozens of teachers. I don't see why I should trust you more than any other. Especially not one with so many questions around them." Jonny resisted the urge to hit the man right there and then, though did have to question why he might want to hit the man in the first place... Oh yeah, he was trying to take the pendant. And before he could even give it a test run - couldn't let that happen. He didn't worry about them trying to stop him. They could try, for all he cared. |

"My own relationship and history to Demons really has no relevance here," Hiro answered with an annoyed tone in his voice, "If I have a reputation among them then that's all the more reason to consider what I have to say holds some level of authority on these types of matters." It was true that he had worked extensively both in combat against and summoning demons to the point he was a well known subject among high ranking demons. It was a point Hiro rarely discussed with people. However, at least a few in Arcadia had to begin to suspect something. When the Fire Division had encountered the Matador he sent his regards to their leader. But this was exactly why he was running the current curriculum he had been teaching in Supernatural Studies. When he began demon summoning and encountering such creatures he had went in mostly blind. Now, it was something that would haunt him the rest of his life. His hope had been that, once informed and aware, his own students would be able to use the benefits of such a power while avoiding the consequences. But now, in this moment, he realized he had failed. Maybe not all the students in his class, but he had failed Jonny. "I'm sorry, Lucidus is right," Hiro continued, "Very few high ranking demons, especially of the Maou Clan, give gifts for free with no strings attached. You might get what you want but it might be at the cost of everything you believe in. Maybe you think you're old enough to make that kind of choice, but I can't let you throw your life away." There was no other option at this point. Pulling forward, Hiro approached Jonny directly stretching out his hand as he attempted to grasp the pendant and jerk it away from him. |

Hiro twisted his answer on him, and Jonny scrambled through a list of responses to responses. But he soon found that the list was both short, and didn't make a great deal of sense. But... but he couldn't give up the pendant. Not yet. Maybe some other day, but not yet. It was his life... his pendant... his choice... he wouldn't have those taken away from him! As Hiro reached forward, Jonny sidestepped with ease, falling behind the teacher at a speed to which the only evidence of his movement with be the faint glow of red around him. "If that's how its gonna be... then I'm gonna have to show you the strength of my conviction!" He yelled as he sweeped at his teacher's legs, to try and throw him off balance. He was slow enough to be visible - and thus not break any bones - but still an odd blur against the background. |

"Oh, crud....I hate super speed." Shad groaned, observing close by as he began to approach with caution, strafing between boulders and trees. Although he was a bit confused as to how Hiro knew so much about demons, he chalked it up to him having a entire bookstore with rituals on the subject. 'I'll have to wait for an opening and then fire a reduction beam on his legs. Unless of course, that demonic amulet gives him the ability to create magic-cancelling shields.' He thought, already beginning to draw mana from his surroundings and form some of it into his small right hand. At the same time, began to take in Jonny's measurements from head to foot for the spell preparation of Body Reduction. 'Unless, of course, Hiro-sensei has this under control and doesn't need assistance.' He pondered in thought, trying to decide if Hiro-sensei could need help against a melee-based opponent. |

"What are you talki-" Hiro was trying to question the rather odd answer from Jonny. However, he had little time to do so as his student vanished before his eyes and he felt a tripping sensation as he was swept off his feet. Hiro hit the ground and winced a little; hurt more from the shock of the situation than the impact. Rising up slowly he faced Jonny and shook his head slowly, "Don't you see? You're already being changed by it. Lucidus, Lynn, Shad... I'm sorry if you feel conflicted about this but give me a hand. We can't let him leave this forest with that pendant." His tone held all the authority as if he were issuing new mission orders to Arcadia. He knew they couldn't hunt him forever over the pendant; that would be a fruitless endeavor. It was either reclaim it now or they would have to let the situation run its course until an opportunity arrived to properly reason with the boy. By that time, it might already be too late. Pulling forward again, Hiro reached out hoping to grasp the pendant and jerk it away. He was sure Jonny would use his super speed again, but he was ready for it this time. |

The Middleman (stubborn, yet relaxed)

"Very well, but it's a shame I forgot to bring a bottle of quick-drying starch." Shad sighed softly, finishing up the mana charge into his arm as he felt energized and slightly less tense. "But for the record, this will have no effect on you, Hiro-sensei. My spell is very, very specific on what it can hit." "Now then...." His arm was raised in front of him, palm outstretched and flattened as the bright mana in the center. It was then he began to cast his enchantment under his breath in a rapid, undecipherable manner, "Target: Boy with red shirt and blue pants. Size Reduction Left Kneecap. Original Size: *'*" W, *'*" H, *'*" L. Reduction by 4" W, 2" H, 3' L.", before swinging the arm to the right. This was a bit risky, but knowing speed users, a simple shot would be easy to dodge. With a powerful crack of his hand, he shot forth the burst of blazing magical light with a swing to arc it towards Hiro-sensei and Jonny, racing towards them at a high speed. Of course, if the kid was as fast as Shad supposed he was, the best way to avoid it (since it was targeting the kneecaps) was to jump. But it was unknown how high a speed user can jump (say, half his own height) unless he can run on air itself....curious indeed. Hiro, on the other hand, would be unaffected if the magic hit him.
