I think I'm back.

Ugh...cold...so...cold...

Shining?...Water? Warm?

Got to get over there.

It was chilly, but the fountain still ran. Heaters and something more mundane method made such a beautiful sight. All that didn't matter to Lorenzo. Just outside the perimeter of the fountain and its various benches, Lorenzo stood, in tattered clothes, around a crater that resembled something akin to a hit by a mortar shell. Covered with electrical arcs, Lorenzo crawled his way out of the hole.

Shivering from the chill, his clothing quickly soaking and then freezing, all he thought of was trying to move forward. Minutes later, he would collapse, leaving a trail in the snow from the crater, his clothing torn and in many places, barely held together, pistol in hand.

What the hell happened again?

"Onore..." He muttered, smiling somewhat. That joke was so overused, and it was merely to distract him for what seemed like years. One moment he was at Hyakuji, next he was surrounded in white light and back in his world and timeline, and next moment, well, he felt he'd lived for a years, only to come back here, broken once again, shivering, after he thought he'd seen the end when that grenade rolled towards him.

"Why does these things keep happening..." He merely said, as he struggled to stay awake.

"Drop your weapon!" A voice would call out authoritatively to Lorenzo followed by the cocking of a pistol. If Lorenzo were to trace where the voice came from, he would be greeted by the sight of a man in a black three-piece business suit and sunglasses with a SIG P229 handgun in his hands, its weapon sights trained on the electromancer.

"Cor blimey, weapons down please!" a far more familiar voice would then call out as Selene stepped in front of her bodyguard, a on his P229. "I know this guy... he means no harm." Selene said as she made her way over to Lorenzo. The corporate heiress was dressed in a light rustic colored double-breasted overcoat with a striped tasseled scarf in different hues of brown over a cream-colored blouse, brown tartan pleated skirt, along with brown dress boots and black thigh highs.

"If you say so, Frostfire-san," the man said as Selene then let go of his weapon. The bodyguard took his aim off Lorenzo, although instead of replacing his P229 into its holster the man stowed it vertically by bending his arm upwards at the elbow such that the muzzle was pointing into the air - while not aiming at the electromancer, he remained very much on the alert such that should he attempt anything funny he would find the gun pointed at him again.

"Lorenzo?" Selene called out as she moved towards him, trying to catch a clearer look at his face. "Is that you?"

"Drop your weapon!"

So loud....why don't they shut up...

Lorenzo held on to his pistol, ready to shoot, he wasn't going down that easily. He was...aw fuck he was tired. He thought he had died again only to return to this world. He did not die, just...got sent again back to this dimension. God was pulling another fast one on him. And it just got worse.

"Cor blimey, weapons down please! I know this guy... he means no harm."

"If you say so, Frostfire-san,"

Her. Again? In the same place too. Damnit why always when I look like shit?

He smiled weakly, as much as anyone can see when half his face is in the Goddamn snow. He tried moving, only shaking with a groan leaving his lips. His hand was still tight on the gun, but he made an effort, and yeah, finger off the trigger.

"Lorenzo? Is that you?"

"nnngh..."

Lorenzo attempted to move, and finally dropping the pistol, rolled over. Same messy hair, sad black eyes, and...was that the same shirt he was wearing? Regardless, he looked to be in shock, and cold.

"...back...allo...c..cold..."

Why am I acting like a dumbass? C'mon body! My mind's awake, let's try to keep up!

Lorenzo smiled, as Selene came into focus, he wasn't dead yet. And give him an hour and a change of clothing he'll be back on his feet...maybe making food. Who knows, he's kinda out of it.

"Lorenzo, are you all right?" Selene asked. The electromancer looked like he'd taken a scrape or two, what with his tattered clothing, disheveled appearance and generally haggard state. "Just what's gotten to you anyway?" the corporate heiress rested a hand on his shoulder. Now this was weird - first Lorenzo went missing for months, then all of a sudden he showed up in the middle of the park at the fountain with a gun in his hand and wearing rags. (although they were probably once more presentable-looking clothes)

"...back...allo...c..cold..."

"Your coat, now." Selene said flatly as she glanced at her bodyguard, her eyes fixated on the slate-colored overcoat the man was wearing over his business suit, stretching out a hand to enforce her point, indicating that he should hand his coat over.

"If you say so, Frostfire-san," the bodyguard replied as he replaced his weapon back into its holster, before shrugging the coat off his shoulders and sliding his arms out of the sleeves and turning the now inside-out overgarment back into its proper state and handing it over to the English heiress.

"Here, Lorenzo... take this," Selene said reassuringly as she draped the coat over Lorenzo's shoulders. "Take us back to the car, we're returning to the Frostfire building." The corporate heiress said to her bodyguard.

"It shall be done," the bodyguard bowed before gesturing in the direction of where the car was, while Selene put her arms around Lorenzo's shoulders to help support him, nudging him gently to get him to walk.

"Come on, Lorenzo, let's go."

Lorenzo rolled over, grabbing his pistol, groaning as he stood up once more. He kept the weapon pointed down, until he was draped in the overcoat, and he deposited the gun into a pocket.

"Here, Lorenzo... take this, Take us back to the car, we're returning to the Frostfire building."

"T..thank you..." He said, looking at the bodyguard who had, just moments before, looked ready to kill. Every step he took he was ready to collapse, but Selene's nudging and the promise of warmth and somewhere safe and a place to rest were great motivating factors.

It seemed like forever to get to the car, and he nearly collapsed into the back seat, but keeping some sort of decency, he managed to last. Then the car got on its way, and the rhythmic ability of a drive took over, and Lorenzo napped until they got to the building, waking only when the car had stopped.

"...I'm so...ssorr for inconveniencing you."

"T..thank you..." the bodyguard looked over his shoulder and nodded at Lorenzo as he muttered his thanks.

"Think nothing of it sir, just doing as Frostfire-san ordered," the man replied as he led Lorenzo and Selene down the footpath. Although the aura of hostility surrounding him has lifted, his body language and tone of voice towards the electromancer suggests that Lorenzo had better not get any ideas that his hospitality is a sign of trust. Typical case of mild paranoia that stems from someone who takes his job damn seriously and is fiercely loyal towards his charge.

After a brief walk, which in Lorenzo's current state might best be described as feeling 'so close yet so far away' the three of them arrived at the parking lot, with a shiny black luxury sedan parked in a corner of the parking lot near an old pine tree. The bodyguard communicated in sign gestures with his colleague - an older gray-haired, mustachioed Japanese man in his 50's in a black three-piece business suit - who nodded as he got into the driver's seat and started up the engine.

"Well, let's get going!" Selene said cheerfully as she helped Lorenzo into the rear seat, while her bodyguard got into the front seat with the driver. The older man nodded mirthfully at the corporate heiress as the car started up its route back to the Frostfire building.

"...I'm so...ssorr for inconveniencing you." Lorenzo napped throughout the entire ride, waking up only after they arrived at their destination as the car pulled up at the basement parking lot underneath the Frostfire building. The three of them exited the car, with the bodyguard leading them to a small, elegantly decorated lift lobby past a set of locked glass doors which were unlocked by the bodyguard scanning his thumbprint on a biometric scanner. A warning decal on the door indicates in English and Japanese that this area is only accessible to executive-level employees of Frostfire Industries, or to the company's security personnel, and the entrance to the lobby as well as the lobby itself was under constant surveillance by a pair of security cameras.

"Oh no, it was no trouble at all," Selene replied as she pressed the call button for the elevator, which was an express lift that would take them all the way up to the top floor. "But no doubt I have many questions as to where you went, what happened to you... and how you came back..." the English heiress' voice trailed off while they waited for the elevator. "But I suppose the answers can wait. First things first is to make sure you get a change of clothing, something warm to eat and some time to rest," she continued as a chiming noise announced the elevator's arrival.

Lorenzo himself waited, and as the elevator arrived, allowed himself to be led in. It was a quiet minute or two as the elevator brought them to Selene's place. As the elevator stopped, he walked forward, somewhat hesitantly. He didn't, couldn't dare move without being told. It was like, a new environment for him. By this time he was more or less awake.

"Um...I can't express how thankful I am again, Selene, I'm again in your debt." He said, turning to face the corporate heiress. Only know did he realize the full extent of how tattered his clothing was. The front of his pant legs were shredded, the belt was holding on by a sliver of leather, his shirt was in pieces, and his shoes just managed to escape the destruction. The ankle-high desert-tan boots though looks as if it had seen lots of wear. He reached into the pocket containing his pistol, and quickly cleared it, removing the magazine and pulling back the slide and activating the catch. He presented the weapon to the bodyguard.

"It's probably a good idea to give this to you for safe keeping." He said. Now if he can get a warm shower and new clothes, that'd be awesome.

The elevator ride up to the top floor was a swift one, covering seventy stories in slightly more than a minute; which inevitably led to that 'blocked ear' sensation due to a sudden change in atmospheric pressure which often required swallowing to clear. Lorenzo certainly received a couple of curious stares as he walked past a few corporate executives; a most unusual sight indeed to see a young man being escorted by Selene Frostfire herself and one of her bodyguards.

"Um...I can't express how thankful I am again, Selene, I'm again in your debt." Selene nodded at Lorenzo's thanks; very thoughtful of him, although a tad excessive of him at this point. Walking past the offices and conference rooms used by the company's top brass, the trio would eventually take a stairwell up and arrive at the rooftop of the building, stopping outside the main door to the penthouse suite.

"It was the least I can do, Lorenzo." Selene replied as she unlocked the front door and stepped into the guest chamber, stopping to remove her shoes.

"It's probably a good idea to give this to you for safe keeping." the bodyguard accepted Lorenzo's weapon after clearing his Delta Elite, removing the magazine and putting it on safe. The bodyguard nodded after doing a careful check of his own.

"Know that your weapon will be handed over to the security counter for safekeeping - so do remember to reclaim your weapon from the security staff before you leave the building premises," the man replied before leaving Selene and Lorenzo to their own devices.

"So it's just the two of us now," the corporate heiress said as she proceeded to the living room of the penthouse, pausing momentarily to switch on the lights and climate control systems. "You're probably going to need this first and foremost..." Selene gestured Lorenzo to follow her, as she led the electromancer to a bathroom that looked like it came right out from a five-star resort, including a whirlpool tub; often simply called a "Jacuzzi" thanks to the plumbing company that made spa tubs popular.

"So, feel free to make yourself at home... in the meantime, I'll see to it that you receive a change of clothing too," Selene said as she switched on the lights in the bath before disappearing out of sight.

Lorenzo nodded as she left, and started to strip, while letting the bath fill up. Setting his clothes aside in a neat pile, he would hit the shower first, noticing all the dirt on him.

Lorenzo winced as the water would wash away days old grime and whatnot, with help from a sponge, which also went over some sore spots in his front, reminding him that what brought him to this place would've killed him if it weren't up to fate and God to screw him over again.

"...what did I do to deserve this?" He asked to no one in particular, as he continued to clean up. Content that most of the grime was gone, he left the shower, to the rapidly filling tub and got in, soaking in the hot water. He felt, uneasy...being in such a rich environment.

"...I owe her a lot." He muttered, as he slunk down so that his nose was just above the water, pressing a button, he let the water jets activate, waiting for

As Lorenzo was lounging around inside the spa he would be momentarily interrupted by a gentle knocking on the door of the bathroom as the familiar voice of Selene spoke up, "I got you a change of clothes, Lorenzo. I don't know if you'd like them, but I thought it'll have to do for now," the corporate heiress said as she left a neatly-folded set of clothing on a dresser outside the bathroom entrance. Not really sure of the electromancer's tastes might be Selene simply chose something that was presentable and thus one can't really go wrong with - a light blue long-sleeved dress shirt and dark gray trousers.

In addition to providing a change of clothes, Selene had also saw to it that a meal be prepared for Lorenzo - laid out on the dining table in the main hall was a standard three-course meal - a starter consisting of a bowl of corn soup and a small loaf of multigrain bread, the main course with a grilled fillet of Pacific Dory in a butter herb sauce, along with a side of potato wedges, a slice of lemon and fresh garden vegetables, and lastly a dessert - a caramel custard pudding and a glass of orange juice. Meanwhile, Selene simply sat on the opposite end of the table waiting for Lorenzo.

Lorenzo allowed the water jets to rejuvenate him. But he didn't tally for long. Getting out and drying himself off, he put on the clothes which seemed like a snug fit. What did she do, look at the tags on his now ruined and most-likely thrown in the trash clothes? Well, wouldn't surprise him.

He came out, collar unbuttoned, wearing some indoor slippers he found in the bathroom. He wasn't used to such things but thought it'd be proper. Now it it wasn't power blue. Seeing the spread before him, he sat down and crossed himself.

"I...don't know where to begin in thanking you." He said.

Selene didn't have to wait long for Lorenzo, thankfully. She was at first wondering he'd start making himself a little too comfortable at the spa. But several minutes later the electromancer was back, dressed in the new clothes the corporate heiress had graciously provided him with. Contrary to what he might've thought Selene didn't really take the time to go through the size label on his discarded clothing; for all that's worth Selene had made an accurate estimation of his clothing size.

"I...don't know where to begin in thanking you." The electromancer commented as he sat down, crossing himself as he looked at the meal that was laid out before him.

"Well, you could start by filling up your belly, which I presume must be growling in hunger by this point," Selene replied as she poured a glass of plain water for herself from a pitcher on the table. "...as well as shedding some light on where you'd been all those weeks when I couldn't find you."

Lorenzo dipped the soup spoon into the soup. It was warm, and he heartily drank it up, careful to not slurp or anything. He was hungry, but hunger was no excuse for a lack of manners. He'd do this alone or with some friends who wouldn't mind, but in Selene's prescence? Maybe not. After he swallowed a bit of the bread, did he finally talk.

"I honestly don't know myself. One moment I was laying down to sleep, next moment I thought I was in a dream. You know?" Of course she didn't. It's why he was describing it, but still. "I was back in full gear, and I can hear rubble falling and whatnot. I thought I was reliving the day I 'died' back in my original dimension. But only this time, I was being dug out."

He sighed as he finished the bread. "I guessed that...I must have spent some significant amount of time back there. Probably a year or so. I was discharged and I joined a security company. Ended up going to some North African country and then...I ended up here."

Clearly he was hungry, and honestly didn't pay much attention to what she said except asking what had happened, and finally it hit him. When she couldn't find him? "...wait...you were looking for me? How many others noticed I was gone?" Surely Takamachi, and others from BOARD. But...then again it was Ms. Frostfire that found him first.

"Dimensional Jumping is a pain in the arse. God should stop doing that." He said, with a small laugh and then a sigh.

"Glad to see you're enjoying yourself," Selene remarked as she folded her hands together, leaning forward slightly in her seat as she rested her chin on her hands while Lorenzo - quite literally - dived jaws-first into his food. Truth be told, she wouldn't have minded much if he'd forgone his manners, but in an impressive display of self-discipline the electromancer had taken care not to go about slurping up his soup. And after swallowing a mouthful of bread did he slow down enough to answer the corporate heiress' questions.

"I honestly don't know myself. One moment I was laying down to sleep, next moment I thought I was in a dream. You know? I was back in full gear, and I can hear rubble falling and whatnot. I thought I was reliving the day I 'died' back in my original dimension. But only this time, I was being dug out." Selene nodded as Lorenzo began his tale on how he 'vanished' from Hyakuji. Of course, he'd gone through part of his background with her before, she remembered clearly how he was with the 75th Rangers Regiment, and how prior to ending up in Hyakuji (albeit a few years younger) he'd been deployed to some mission in Afghanistan. And how he'd ended up in Hyakuji after supposedly being crushed to death. So he somehow returned to his own world?

"I guessed that...I must have spent some significant amount of time back there. Probably a year or so. I was discharged and I joined a security company. Ended up going to some North African country and then...I ended up here." Lorenzo continued after finishing off the bread.

"Security company? So... you joined a PMC?" Selene asked. Somehow, the corporate heiress felt that if Jen were sitting next to her right now the purple-haired girl would've probably asked if Lorenzo donned a badass mask and body armor and teamed up with another guy in a similarly-styled outfit and called themselves the Trans-World Operations or something like that.

"...wait...you were looking for me? How many others noticed I was gone?" Lorenzo asked.

"I'm not sure how many other people had been looking for you... but I think I might've overheard Takamachi-sensei making inquiries on your whereabouts," Selene replied thoughtfully. "So... what happened in North Africa? I'm somehow guessing it wasn't just as simple as 'I closed my eyes and found myself back here.'"

Lorenzo started cutting into the fish before him. He tasted a chunk tentatively before biting it. It tasted good, but he'd probably look for something even more substantial when he got out. Maybe a burger.

"Yes, it was odd though, my papers said I was in my mid to late 20s but I somehow kept this body. It took awhile but I was accepted into one." He still had some loyalty to the joint S.A.-U.K. company, seeing that they took in what was essentially a teenager into their ranks. So he wasn't willing to give its name out or what exactly an electromancer was doing with them.

"Was providing security, ended up in the wrong end of an argument, and so...I ate a grenade." He said, before he ate another chunk of the fish.

"How long has it been? What have I missed?"
