Its bedtime! Bed=Ethnic Time=Cleansing
Night had fallen on Kaimu High, as most of the students had begun to proceed to their dorms, or for the wiser one's where already their. But despite the lateness of the night a single figure could be seen making its way across campus. It was Raven Hiroshima senior of Kaimu, and member of the Execution Squad, also self pronounced leader of the torture squad, but that was a little secret he would keep to himself.

His eyes where glued to the ground as snow seemed to fall wherever he walked, the snow black in color, and as cold as the deepest reaches of space, was all that could alert one to Ravens arrival. He was wearing his normal ceremonial white kimono, only it was stained red with blood. A smirk went across his blood stained face as he made his way into the kendo teams training room. He slowly closed the door behind him, but gave a quick glance as if he felt someone watching him. He shrugged it off, closing the door firmly behind him.

His black eyes scanned the room to make sure no one was with him as he proceeded to the alter that stood at the far side of the room, removing his kimono, placing it in front of the alter. He groaned as he proceeded to fall to his knees and clasp his hands in prayer.

" Oh ancient gods forgive me for on this night...I have taken another life....please guide that poor soul to the afterlife, for it is what he deserves, and when my brother reaches you....tell him I'm sorry..." Raven spoke as he looked up staring at the blood stained Kimono.

" Ok you pest! You can come out now...." He yelled out as he continued to look forward as if knowing that whatever had followed him, was no threat to his life.

"Ra-Raven..."

Mika Makoto, junior of Kaimu and member of the Execution Squad, stepped out of the shadows, one small hand clasped around the over-sized gray jacket that she was hardly ever without. Her eyes were wide, not from fear but from concern for her teammate and sempai. Before she could even stop herself or consider what she was doing, the name had slipped from her mouth without honorific.

She cleared her throat, taking a step forward and looking down at the bloodstained kimono with sad eyes. In the dark like this, Mika didn't look like the confident, competitive girl that she normally was--the sort of person that was all smiles and bravado, perfectly willing to lead the charge. She looked more like a mouse, huddled up in a jacket that was about two sizes too big for her and with disheveled black hair from wearing a hat all day.

"...Again?" she asked, looking up.

Raven smiled slightly as the voice hit his ears. He aura seemed to calm slightly as he continued to look forward, not out of disrespect, but for fear of her seeing him like this. It wasn't something Raven wanted getting around to the others, he knew it would ruin his rep with them as being a cold-blooded killer.

" Spying on me again Mika?....you know if anyone else saw this I would slit their throat..." He spoke with a matter-of-fact tone as he removed his sword, placing it on the alter. His eyes scanned the girl as he looked at the coat. Why was she so insistent on wearing that thing when it wasn't needed?

" So are you hear to do me in? See me as a threat to your future here at the school? If so I would suggest you catch me when I'm in a less blood-thirsty mood....." He spoke as he watched her eyes turn to the kimono, as she asked him about the kill.

" Mika what have I always told you?...the more you kill the better your chances of survival go up? Or do we have to have this talk again?" He asked sounding slightly annoyed at the girls question.

"Spying on me again Mika?....you know if anyone else saw this I would slit their throat..."

She lowered her eyes and nodded once, her hands still clutching to the front of her jacket. Blood and battle always brought back memories...memories she would rather keep hidden...of a time before Kaimu. He didn't turn towards her, and she didn't make him, understanding. When she was outside, during the daytime and with her friends, she wasn't like this. In front of everyone else, she was a different person, and that wasn't a lie. Mika loved her friends. Mika was happy being with her friends, winning fights, defending the school, getting into all sorts of mischief...

But she knew that that wasn't all she was, and she didn't like people seeing her when she was like this either.

" So are you hear to do me in? See me as a threat to your future here at the school? If so I would suggest you catch me when I'm in a less blood-thirsty mood....."

Mika's eyes widened in surprise and she lifted her head, shaking it quickly. "No," she said. "I would never! I--" She froze as he continued to speak, shaking her head when he asked if they needed to talk again. Could he understand that she didn't want to hear it? About killing? Their job was to take down enemies of the school. That didn't mean they had to kill them all the time.

Only Raven...

She took a deep breath, her fingers loosening from around her jacket as her eyes narrowed and she gathered up her courage. She took a step forward towards him, her hand reaching out tentatively, as if she was trying to decide whether or not to touch his arm. "You say that...but then you do this...and you won't look at me." she said quietly.

"It hurts, ne?" she asked softly, her voice coming out in barely more than a whisper.

Raven sighed as he heard her stumble over her words, classic Mika, always one to show her caring side to the team, maybe that was because she was always spouting non-sense about being friends. But to be honest out of all of them she was the one Raven could most stand.

" Hmm you would never? Mika darling you are indeed a fool, there will always be people conspiring againsts you...no matter who they are people always turn their backs on you...that's a lesson I know too well." He spoke calmly as he reached up grabbing her hand, as if to stop her from touching him.

" I don't need pity Mika...don't worry he won't die, but I did this just in case. But don't get the wrong idea, I do this to further insult my enemy, nothing like having the man who ended your life say a prayer for you...but that ass hole won't die this easy....its never this easy with him...." He said as he reached up to his chest, touching a sore spot, a smile formed on his face as he was removing his hand to look at it. A large trace of blood could be seen.

" look at you? Hmm did you change your hair or something? Or are you so vain that you must be looked at? He said with a slight smirk on his face, he wasn't one for jokes, but Mika brought out something inside of him.

" Does what hurt? This? Or trying to kill my brother...ill answer neither....Crow betrayed me...he was my brother, and he chose a woman over our family, so I will spend the rest of my days reminding him of the fact I'm his family..." He stopped suddenly as he turned to look at her. " What are you doing out this late? Following me around? Just what is your obsession with me? Don't tell me your like the little one, always going on, and on about some Poo energy or something, and how I throw off the feel of the universe..." He said with a laugh as he signaled for her to sit, and talk with him for awhile, this was not like Raven, but then again he was not quite himself when him and Mika where alone.

Mika flinched when he grabbed her hand. It was an involuntary motion that she tried to suppress, but she knew that Raven would have felt it anyway. He wasn't the sort of person to let little details like that slip by him. She took a deep breath and relaxed her hand, looking up at him. " Hmm you would never? Mika darling you are indeed a fool, there will always be people conspiring against you...no matter who they are people always turn their backs on you...that's a lesson I know too well."

"Even if I am a fool, I would never hurt my friends," she said, using the word "nakama" in place of the usual word for friend. "I would never do that to you. To any of you." There was conviction in her voice as she spoke, looking up at him with determined gray eyes. Maybe Raven had heard the rumors around campus too, the ones that said Mika might have won the presidential spot in the student council if she had even bothered to run. But the president had been running then, and Mika had always been close to her...

I would never hurt my friends...

" I don't need pity Mika...don't worry he won't die, but I did this just in case. But don't get the wrong idea, I do this to further insult my enemy, nothing like having the man who ended your life say a prayer for you...but that ass hole won't die this easy....its never this easy with him...." She shook her head fiercely, sending her short black hair flying around her face. "It's not pity," she said. Her eyes widened slightly as he asked her if she was vain, recognizing it as a slight joke. In another situation, she might have played along. But Mika couldn't have fun when one of her friends was hurting, whether or not he admitted it.

He turned to face her. Mika straightened up and drew herself to her full height, which...really wasn't much. Barely over five feet. " What are you doing out this late? Following me around? Just what is your obsession with me? Don't tell me your like the little one, always going on, and on about some Poo energy or something, and how I throw off the feel of the universe..." He released her, then signaled for her to sit. Mika did so, sitting cross-legged on the ground instead of on her heels like a proper Japanese girl.

"Treasurer-san isn't all that bad..." she said. "But...I was just walking around. I couldn't sleep...bad dreams." She lowered her eyes and shook her head slightly as if trying to get rid of the memories. "Then I saw you. So..."

Raven smirked slightly as she flinched, he wrote it off as her being surprised by his actions, seeing as other then killing anyone who stood againsts him, he had never given Mika a reason to fear him, although the thought was nice enough.

" You would never hurt us? A fools notion.. All people are dangerous, the fact that you sit here without any means of protection is proof enough that you are too trusting.... If its a friend you want look elsewhere girl, I have had enough betrayal in my life to last a hundred years.....or five in my case..." He said with a slight muffled laugh as he looked to her as she sat down.

" Bad dreams? Why would you let a dream bother you? Its a vision...it can't harm you. A dream is nothing to fear, I'm to be feared! Not some image in your sleepy little head... Or was it another dream about your past?" He asked as he looked at her from the corner of his eye. He wasn't one to pry into the past of others, but Mika was a special case. He knew little about her other then the obvious, the girl was smart, damn smart, but never flaunted that fact. She knew enough to not ruffle any feathers, and to stay on the good side of almost everyone, but she still gave off an aura of a person you didn't want to cross.

Mika's eyes widened as he mentioned her past, and she looked up sharply, her fingers curling into fists in her lap. Did he know? No, that was impossible. Nobody knew. Nobody...She felt a tremble run through her body at the mention, and quickly lowered her eyes and her head, hoping that Raven wouldn't see. "That's not true..." she said. "No matter what you say, I wouldn't hurt you, Raven. So..even if you think I'm going to betray you, I won't. Because I don't hurt the people I care about..." She spoke quietly, keeping her voice to a low tone that would have been inaudible, if it weren't already so quiet between them. As it was, it carried easily.

"Protection?" she muttered. "That's rich. I trust you...why would I need to protect myself from you? Are you going to kill me, Raven?" She looked up at him as she asked that question, no trace of fear on her face this time. "Besides...I am my own protection..."

Mika Makoto...who can explode the things that she touches...

Iie...

That's a lie...

There's nobody by that name anywhere...

"But if you are going to kill me, you should hurry, because if you don't, someone might see, and you would get caught," she said.

Why was she so insistent of them being friends? To be honest Raven would have liked to let his guard down around her, but being as careful as he was, he would never show her anything more then a few kind words, but maybe she could break through his tough shell.

" People you care about? Girl don't act as if you have feelings for me, I tolerate you, I don't like you, you would do well to remember that...don't try to get close to me...you will only end up hurt... Ha! You wouldn't hurt me? Of course not, what have I always said? You kill on the first blow, anything less, and you show weakness, I'm sure you have enough respect for me to end me in one blow if you wanted to get rid of me....not that I would ever give you the chance..." He paused as the words left his lips. His eyes glued to the girl, he knew how dangerous Mika could be in a fight, and made sure he never once crossed her. If there was one member that struck a tiny bit of fear in him, it was her.

" I would hate to have to cut those pretty little hands off...." He finished as he reached out, and grabbed her hand, looking it over. " How can something so simple be able to bring such destruction? Hmm its interesting how everyone fears me...your the dangerous one...but you lack the killing nature...such a shame, we could make a great team, maybe take over the school together..." He said, in almost an asking tone, his eyes shifted to her face, as if to gauge her reaction to his words. In truth he knew she would never stand againsts the president, she knew above all else that Mika was loyal, a trait he felt would someday get her killed.

" Who would see? We are here alone, not to mention I could cut your tong out before you could yell for help...although the it wouldn't take long for them to know it was me....by then I would be long gone...but I need this school to get to him, and I need you guys to further my goals..." He said as his eyes went to her coat, it was then his curiosity got the better of him.

" Why do you wear that thing? Its a tad big on you little one..." He asked in a soft tone, completely unlike Raven, but now was not a time for aggression.

Mika bit her lip at Raven's words but didn't lower her eyes. Why was it so hard to believe that she wanted to be friends with everyone? Even him. Her eyes widened when he mentioned killing, and she shook her head frantically. "That's not it!" she said. "I wouldn't hurt you because I wouldn't kill you! Why is that so hard to believe? Mika doesn't have--" She stopped suddenly, swallowing the words. Raven reached forward, taking her hand. This time Mika didn't flinch, staring at the ground as he turned her hand over and examined it. Her hands were as small as the rest of her--fine-boned and with slender fingers. She didn't say anything for a moment as he continued to talk.

It had been a long time since she had last slipped like that, referring to herself in the third person like a child...

"I don't have so many friends that I would hurt one of them..." she finished quietly, her expression growing troubled at Raven's words. Dangerous. A brief flash of guilt appeared on Mika's expression as he used that word for her. Raven was probably the only person that thought of her that way, and the only person that would have been able to tell. She only used small things for her explosions, after all. Small things. Small, non-lethal explosions.

"Sou ka...I lack the nature...that's right, I suppose..." she said, her fingers curling inward slightly as he examined her hand. If Raven was watching, he would catch a glimpse of it for just a moment as the cuff of her sleeve rode up. A black mark on her wrist, looking almost like a tattoo. From this angle, it would look like an infinity symbol.

"....by then I would be long gone...but I need this school to get to him, and I need you guys to further my goals..."

"I see..." she said, drawing her hand out of his slowly. She let it fall to her lap, unconsciously readjusting the cuff so that it covered her entire wrist. "Is that really all we are to you?" she asked. "A means to an end?" She shook her head. "No, don't answer that. Since no matter what you really thought about it, you'd say yes." She reached up as he asked her about it, tugging her jacket closed as if she was reassuring herself that it was still there.

"It's warm," she said in reply. It was a blatant lie, and Mika knew that Raven would see through it as easily as she could. But she also knew he would get the underlying meaning beneath that lie. I don't want to talk about it right now...

" Ok Mika let's say I believe your friend notion...how long until my actions make you rethink your decision?...I'm a killer plain and simple, and your too innocent to be caught up in my life....I say this for your own good girl, forget being my friend you will gain nothing from it." He said as he let her hands go, and caught a slight glimpse of the tattoo. What was that? Little Mika had a wild side? That was quite unbelievable, but the thought did manage to bring a smirk to Ravens face.

" But if there was someone I slightly trust....its you...." He said, his voice, soft, and gentle, lacking the usual aggression that it carried.

" A means to an end?... I guess that's the way you can put it...but is that not what we all do? Mika understand that in life, everyone uses you...the council president uses us to keep order, she doesn't give a damn about what we want, is that not a means to an end? That band she hired is using her to keep their friend healthy...is that not a means to an end? Its not are we using each other...the main question is will we allow ourselves to be used for free..." He spoke still refraining from trying to sound harsh, while his words may have seemed that way in Raven's heart he was right. Everyone wanted something, it was just a matter of figuring out what.

" Hmm warm huh? Guess that's a good enough reason...." He said implying with his tone that he understood she didn't want to talk about it. He wasn't one to press matters that didn't concern him, and he could tell from the fact Mika would lie to him, that it was something he better leave alone.

" Hmm I still find you being here strange, I swear it just seems like you could have went to bother Louie, or the ice queen, even our lovable president, but here you are with me....did someone send you to watch me? Or did the president send you here to ask about my trip to Hyakuji tonight?" He asked as he reached for some bandages that rested on the alter. He let out a groan as he began to wrap his cut.

Innocent...

Mika lowered her eyes, tracing circles on the smooth wooden floor with one finger. Innocent...she wished. She swallowed, the memory of her nightmare coming back to her. Why wouldn't they go away? It had already been three years. And Raven was right, bad dreams couldn't harm her. They were gone.

They were all gone.

" But if there was someone I slightly trust....its you...."

Her eyes widened and she looked up at him, as if she wasn't sure whether or not he was joking. When she saw that he was serious, she relaxed slightly, a small smile coming onto her face. "I'm glad..." she said. She placed her feet flat on the floor and drew her knees up, wrapping her arms around them. "I guess I can say the same." The sentence implied something Mika had never said out loud, that she didn't really trust anybody. With her life, sure, she trusted her friends. With her well-being, she trusted them. With her chemistry notes...well, she trusted everyone except Louie--the last time she had lent him her notes, they didn't come back as any definition of readable.

But with her past? Her secrets?

She really couldn't trust any of them with those. That was why she liked to pretend she didn't have a past or secrets. The only person who knew fully was the president, and that was because she was the first person Mika met at Kaimu.

But Raven knew she had a past and knew she had some secrets...

The thought made her smile slightly as she hugged her legs, resting her chin on her knees. The smile faded when she heard him say that everybody was being used as a means to an end. Maybe that was true, but...in all honesty, it didn't really matter to her anymore. Everybody that was currently "using her", to use Raven's terms, knew what her limits were, and cared about her enough to not push them. That was enough. Since she cared about them, that was enough. "Well if you don't have ends...then you wouldn't need means, right?" she asked, looking up at him.

When he didn't press the issue about her jacket, the tension left her, and she nodded at him. She was glad he wasn't the type that would press her for the truth. Her eyes widened in surprise as he began to ask if she was spying on him for the president and she tucked her legs underneath her, sitting up straight. "That's not it at all!" she said. "I--wait, you're going to Hyakuji tonight?" Mika looked at him in surprise. She definitely hadn't heard anything about this. "Didn't you just get back from somewhere?" Her tone began to shift from surprised to concerned, and her eyes drifted over to his cut. "Sheesh...you're working too hard."

She shuffled over so that she was sitting beside him, reaching out to take the bandages from him. "Here, let me," she said, wordlessly beginning the task of wrapping the cut. Mika wound the bandages with ease, her hands moving as if she had done this a thousand times before. As she worked, she talked.

"...I didn't come here to spy on you," she said, her voice soft again. "I told you. I had bad dreams. And if I went to Louie or anyone else, they'd pry the truth out of me asking me what I dreamed about. Then I'd have to make some BS story about how I was getting chased by angry onigiri or whatever, and that wouldn't be fun..." She shook her head, continuing to work. "Besides...I wanted to make sure you were okay."

" Don't be too glad girl....if you cross me I won't hesitate to cut that pretty little head off..." He said as his tone carried a hint of truth to it. But in honesty, Raven didn't think he could bring himself to hurt Mika, but that wasn't something he would ever tell her.

Why did he feel so relaxed around Mika? Was it the aura she gave off, that felt like his at times? Or maybe it was the fact Raven knew she held a secret that for the sake of the others she kept to herself. Raven shivered slightly as the thought of the day he first meet her flashed through his head. She gave off the energy of someone who knew what death was all to well, but she didn't show any of the behavior.

" Hmm maybe I do work too much...you have anything in mind to keep me here? Perhaps grabbing a bite to eat?" Raven muttered with a smile, the he made sure she didn't see. " Hmm yes there is someone in Hyakuji I need to check on...just hope I don't run into any trouble, I would hate to have to spill more blood tonight....well I wouldn't hate it that much, hehe." He said with a tinge of excitement to his voice as he watched her get behind him to wrap his cut.

" Ow!" He whimpered out slightly as she began to wrap it. Raven covered his mouth as he tried to keep the sound inside his mouth, but did not succeed, he let out a loud grunt as he looked at her with a 'Tell anyone and I will kill you' look on his face.

" You being attacked by a Onigiri? Ha! I would pay to see that." He said as he laughed slightly at the thought, it would be quite the site to see Mika being chased by a demon.

" Well if you don't feel like talking about it that's fine....but I wonder what this dream must have been to make you so jumpy..."

Mika snickered as Raven let out an audible 'ow', scooting closer so that she could work easier. "Relax, big boy," she said, grinning slightly. It was a lopsided grin that managed to show off one canine. "I know what I'm doing." She looked up and faced him as he turned towards her and gave her a flat 'tell anyone and I'll kill you' look. Mika's grin didn't fade, and she met his eyes. "And I won't tell a soul. Cross my heart." She laughed slightly, sitting up and making an 'x' over her heart with one finger.

"Though in your case, that's probably literal, ne?" she asked as she bent down and continued to work. Considering that the full phrase was pretty much "I promise, cross my heart and hope to die [if I break my word]", she didn't doubt it for a second. But what was so characteristically Mika was that she could say things like that and mean them without being afraid at all.

She finished up and pressed the bandages down lightly, making sure they were secure. Mika pursed her lips. "Where would we go, though?" she asked, still focused on inspecting her work. "Everything's closed by now, except fast food and bars. And I don't know about you, but blowing up creepers' drinks isn't exactly my idea of a fun evening."

She frowned and sat up straight, propping herself up on her hands and leaning back as she considered the validity of that statement. Blowing up creepers' drinks had some promise..."Actually, let's go," she said with a grin, correcting herself. "Or if you still want to go to Hyakuji, I could go with you. Twice the people, half the chance you'll need to hurt someone, right?"

She blinked when Raven said that he would pay to see her get attacked by an onigiri, leaning back and laughing. "Bet ya would," she said. She turned away from him and looked up at the ceiling, frowning as she thought about his last sentence. She kept her eyes on the ceiling, her voice getting serious again. "It was a dream from back when I was a kid..." she said.

"And that's all I'm saying," she said, her grin coming back onto her face as she looked back at Raven. "'Kay?"

" How can I relax when your man-handleing me like a piece of meat?" He asked between strained grunts as she finally finished wrapping his wound. He let out a sigh of relief as he moved the arm to see how much mobility he had in it.

" Hmm good job little one, hmm seems like you have done this before. Although that's no surprise.." He finished as he stood up, making his way to the changing room in the back. He returned minutes later wearing a blue t-shirt, and a black bikers coat.

" I suppose you could help keep me out of trouble, and I know a club in Hyakuji that's pretty good, and that's saying something about that city..." He said as he extended his hand to help her up, his eyes holding no malice within him, it was almost like he wasn't Raven anymore.

" Although if you can make drinks explode, I would love to see that, kinda makes for a fun evening, also anything to see those Hyakuji nerds crap themselves." He said as he left the room walking through the black snow that he had created. It was his signature, the only way others could know he was coming. To the people of Kaimu, Raven's snow signaled the coming of death himself.

He stopped at his bike, climbing onto it, putting the key in as he turned the high powered machine on. His eyes went to her as he waited for her to get on.

" Oh yea hang on tight...wouldn't want to lose you somewhere on the road...." He said as he revved the engine.
