"That dress is so cute, Kobayashi-san!" A joyful Yuki exclaimed as she made her way over to Mitsuko as soon as she caught sight of the yellow dress the short-haired girl took out from her luggage, taking the dress from Mitsuko to examine it up close. "This is perfect for spring! I bet I have some other things you can wear with it that would be adorable!" As Yuki bounded over to her own wardrobe, going through her collection of accessories and jewelry that could go along well with the outfit. If Mitsuko wanted to make a cute outfit for herself in spring, Yuki would be the go-to girl for advice, and the thought of it brought a chuckle to Selene.

“Eef yew lickeeeet seo meyuch thyin yew cin heev eet.” The short-haired girl replied somewhat grumpily, much to Selene's bemusement.

"Why would you want to give it away? It looks like it means a lot to you," the corporate heiress queried, somewhat puzzled as to why someone would want to give away such a fine-looking dress. Done unpacking for now, Mitsuko went over to the table where Selene and Yuki were having tea, and as she did so the English heiress smiled and gestured towards a cup of tea, resting on a saucer that was poured out for the girl.

The corporate heiress beamed as Yuki appeared to enjoy the pot of tea that was brewed, nodding before herself taking a sip of tea which had been allowed to cool for a while already, lifting the cup off the saucer and bringing it a few inches below her nose to catch a whiff of its aroma, before closing her eyes to take a gentle sip, enjoying the subtle sweetness of silver needle tea, brewed in the way as it should be - straight, without any additives - as how all Chinese tea should be enjoyed. And then Mitsuko took her mouthful of tea, and for a while the girl appeared as if she could decide to swallow or spit out the tea.

Did she screw up somehow in brewing the tea? Selene wondered - Mitsuko was behaving like as though she'd just drank something so bad, it's offensive. And to her horror, the short-haired girl ejected the tea from her mouth and back into the cup. "Cor blimey! Did I brew the tea wrong?" the corporate heiress asked, a worried expression on her face.

“Seeory..” Mitsuko uttered her apology, clearly embarrassed by her own reactions. Or perhaps, white tea simply isn't for everyone.

"No worries, it's not a problem," Selene replied, chuckling uneasily as she picked herself up from the seat and turned around towards the kitchen. "Help yourselves to the tea if you wish - I'm going to prepare our dinner," the corporate heiress spoke as she looked over her shoulder at the other two girls, her spirits refusing to remain dampened for long.

Dangerously Cheesy.
Yuki was rooting through her arsenal of bows, ribbons, headbands and the like to try and find something that would go perfectly with the spring frock. She remembered playing dress-up with her friends in her hometown a long time ago, except that usually entailed over-sized clothes and costume jewelry. This time it was so they would have something pretty that actually fit and they could proudly display to everyone when they went outside. But to Yuki, that made it even more fun.

She gathered up a few different things that would work and turned back to the girl with a large, excited smile, but she seemed less than thrilled to be part of such nonsense.

"Eef yew lickeeeet seo meyuch thyin yew cin heev eet."

The smile slowly melted off of Yuki's face and her hand full of hair pieces dropped to her side. Had she done something wrong and offended her? She was only trying to be helpful and embrace the one non-gloomy item from what she'd seen so far in her wardrobe. An expression crossing worry and hurt replaced the smile on her face as her dreams of high school dress-up were tossed aside much like the slippers she had presented Mitsuko with earlier.

"Why would you want to give it away? It looks like it means a lot to you,"
Selene commented to try and encourage a positive look at the dress.

Yuki was so consumed with the fact that she already had two strikes with this new roommate that she was nearly ready to breakdown. This was NOTHING like her vision of what roommates should've been like. They all should get along, and giggle over silly movies, and help each other with boy problems, and ENJOY ACCESSORIZING PRETTY DRESSES. This trouble here was she'd never really been shot down by someone, but until the rooming situation she had been able to choose her friends. This rationale was still slightly above her, so she acted in the first way she knew how.

"I can't possibly take it from you! I...I don't understand. Why would anyone want to give away such a pretty dress? I didn't mean to offend you, I was just trying to be a good friend..."

Oh crap, here comes the wave of tears.

Not only was Yuki the type to instantly befriend someone with or without their permission, but this type of behavior made her prone to instant heartbreak in the event that her friendship was pushed away. It was entirely possible that Mitsuko had no intentions of causing the reaction that she did, but this train of emotion was coming and it'd be hard to derail, much less stop it.

Yuki stood on the far side of the room, frozen in shock in the same position with the hair ties and the dress, watching the two at the table through a film of tears that threatened to spill over at any moment. She was stuck in an internal battle with herself, caught in disbelief of her dream not coming true (she unfortunately allowed her expectations to get too high) and failing miserably at making friends with her new dorm mate. Yuki didn't even catch the whole incident with the tea, or Selene mentioning that she was about to start dinner. All Yuki wanted to do was figure out what she did wrong and fix it.

"K-Kobayashi-san...p-please don't be mad at m-meee..!"
Yuki sobbed from the other side of the dorm, clutching to the items in her hands like they were her last chance at mending this thing.

Seriously, how old was she, six?

Thank goodness Selene didn’t seem too offended by Mitsuko’s bad manners, curiously she poked her head back up and watched the snooty one walk away to prepare dinner, or at least that was what she thought she had said in any case. Now that she wasn’t being watched Mitsuko sat upright and lifted the tea cup back up again, poking her tongue inside and into the warm murky liquid but all this succeeded was to cause her to recoil back, her face screwed up in disgust with her tongue now stuck out from her mouth. She didn’t quite know why she was still trying to drink the tea after she had already discovered how awful it tasted to her, it was mostly because she wanted to force herself to like it so to please Selene though try as she might white tea just wasn’t for her. Deciding to try once more Mitsuko raised the cup back up to her lips, as slowly as humanly possible, closing in on it gradually as she tilted the tea cup up ever so slightly, ready to take the smallest of sips.

"I can't possibly take it from you! I...I don't understand. Why would anyone want to give away such a pretty dress? I didn't mean to offend you, I was just trying to be a good friend..."

The shock of hearing these sudden loud words caused Mitsuko to jump with fright, spilling the tea up into the air as the cup was yanked to the side along the jerking motion of her body. Not wishing to be covered with the hot liquid however she swiftly moved her hand back the other direction causing the liquid to splash back inside of the tea cup, unfortunately doing this caused Mitsuko to overbalance resulting in her slipping forwards off of the chair and onto her knees resulting in her chest thudding into the side of the small table. What was even more unfortunate was that by slamming into the side of the table the teapot rolled onto its side and off the table edge, once again resulting in a jolt of shock surging down Mitsuko’s spine at the mere thought of the fine china from breaking, thinking quickly she hopped up from her knees landing on her right foot whilst sticking her left leg out to catch the teapot between the top of her foot and her ankle, grabbing hold of the top of the table for support. This didn’t seem to do much good however as grabbing hold of the table only resulted in the table itself being tugged over, causing Mitsuko eyes to open up wide in surprise as she felt herself falling suddenly backwards.

"K-Kobayashi-san...p-please don't be mad at m-meee..!"

Mitsuko stared back at this girl Yuki, completely bewildered by what she’d just said. She’d given her the dress because she couldn’t care less about it, and obviously Yuki did so she’d thought she’d have liked the unexpected gift. Mitsuko really didn’t know quite what to say so she just remained silent, not that she could speak seeing as she was holding a china saucer in her mouth whilst balancing a teapot on her ankle, when at the same time she was holding a teacup underneath her chin and two more in her right hand whilst using her left hand to stop herself from falling backwards and her right knee to prevent the table from falling on top of her. Mitsuko really had no idea how she’d got in this position but at least the tea set was safe. Her eyes began to frown however as she unfortunately began to sense a damp sensation across her body, the tea had spilt all over her clothes, not a drop on the carpet just her clothes which was just her luck. A muffled sigh left Mitsuko’s lips and she rolled her eyes.

“Ayel ayen aaa ooo oooee aaee oo ayeee.” She murmured, unable to make a single audible word due to the fact that her mouth was currently full, though for some reason she seemed to assume Yuki would be able to understand her perfectly. After all anyone from Osaka probably would have been able to figure it out.

Just at that moment the distinct sound of a fire starting came from the general direction of the stove, followed by a slow building haze of black smoke as the flames began to raise upwards. Mitsuko’s shoe which she had previously kicked against the stove had just heated up enough to be set ablaze, she probably should have paid attention to where it had landed and moved it.

"K-Kobayashi-san...p-please don't be mad at m-meee..!" Selene was about to get down to getting the stuff ready for dinner - and first things first would be for her to remove Mitsuko's discarded shoe from the top of the cooker, at least until she heard sobbing and Yuki's voice coming from the living area - along with the sound of a table crashing and the sound of porcelain breaking, drawing the corporate heiress' attention from her task as she rushed out from the kitchen.

"My... my tea set! Nooo~!" Selene didn't know how Mitsuko came to knock the table over, or what was it that she said or did that got Yuki so distraught - nor did she care at this point - the English heiress' pulse raced as her breath came deep and heavy as she noticed the teapot that was balancing on Mitsuko's ankle, as well as the teacup resting on her chin and the other two on her hand and all the while balancing in what seemed like a very precarious position. "Cor blimey, just what's it with you?" Selene mumbled as she scrambled over to Mitsuko to rescue her tea set, starting with the pot, then the saucers, and then finally the cups, resting them all neatly on the silverware platter where they sat, safe and sound.

"Thank goodness!" Selene heaved a sigh of relief as she set her tea set down after flipping the table back into a standing position and resting it on the table top, before giving Yuki a "are you all right" look before glaring at Mitsuko with her arms folded across her chest, not knowing what to say at this point - she would have something to say, at least until something else caught her attention. It was the smell of something burning, accompanied by a pall of black smoke emanating from the kitchen, eliciting a gasp of horror from the corporate heiress. The shoe! She was meaning to remove it from the cooker before starting on preparing dinner - at least until the whole incident involving Yuki, Mitsuko and her tea set took her attention away from the kitchen. From the looks of it, it didn't take a genius to figure out that the shoe had inevitably caught fire.

"Cripes!" Selene exclaimed before looking at Mitsuko and Yuki. "Don't worry girls, the situation will be under control shortly!" the corporate heiress said before bolting into her bedroom, rifling through the contents of her dresser; now where did she leave it? Despite her protests her father had saw it fit to give her a magical device for self-defense. But not seeing a need for it the corporate heiress had stashed it away somewhere deep amongst the stuff she seldom uses. "Gotcha!" Selene declare triumphantly as she fished out a slender rod made from silver and a pale blue crystal. It was great to know she still had that Wand of Biting Cold.

Braving the noxious black smoke, Selene proceeded to charge into the kitchen with her wand in hand, before stopping in front of the fire and pointing the tip of her Wand of Biting Cold and shouting the activation phrase for the device. The surrounding air would suddenly grow chilly as a bluish ray blasted from the tip of the wand towards the fire. Not only did it extinguish the flames, but within a few seconds of exposure to the magical ray the entire cooker and everything on top of it was encased in a tomb of solid ice. "Oops, I think that might've been somewhat of an overkill," Selene commented as she lowered the wand, chuckling nervously.

Yuki's watery eyes were almost instantaneoulsy disspelled once she watched the spectacle that was Mitsuko attempting to catch teapots, tea cups, and everything else at the same time. It was like watching an elephant in a china shop, Yuki's breath immediately ceasing and her grip increasing on the items she held as she anticipated the sound of shattering porcelein. Luckily, no crash came, although Mitsuko was now in a fairly compromised position.

Tossing the dress and hair ties aside, Yuki rushed up to the new girl's aid once she came out of shock but Selene beat her to it. It was no surprise as it was likely that tea set was worth a pretty penny. Yuki did, however, catch Selene's look of concern over the minor meltdown she had a few moments earlier, and reflecting on her actions, she looked away sheepishly in embarrassment with a light flush in her cheeks. She really needed to work on reacting properly based on the situation. Maybe having Selene as a level-headed roommate would help her achieve that.

It wasn't long before the smoke filled Yuki's nostrils and her nose drew her to the source of the smell...none other than the stove top. Selene's panic caused Yuki to panic, despite the words of reassurance.

"Don't worry girls, the situation will be under control shortly!"

"Whaa! Hurry, hurry!"

Seeing flames rise up and Selene dash to another room, Yuki's first reaction was to grab the pot of boiling water and dump it on the shoe to put out the fire. The trouble with this is the fact that she did it without using the aid of a towel or oven mitts, causing her to yelp in pain as the handles singed the skin on her palms.

"Hooootttthothothothothot!"
she cried, letting the pot fall back onto the stove with a crash and dashing to the sink and turning on the cold water full blast. She shoved her hands underneath, the cool liquid giving much relief to her palms. That being said, she didn't get the pot quite to the angle it needed to be at in order to pour, so she got battle scars for a lost cause (and the flames were still rising).

Luckily Selene came to the inevitable rescue and froze the flames with some sort of magic wand. But it wasn't just the shoe that was frozen...everything else including the stove top was now encased in a giant block of ice. Yuki stared at everything silently, her eyes wide at the whole chain of events and the water still rushing over her palms. Her skin was pretty much numb by now, but a little extra water couldn't hurt.

"Oops, I think that might've been somewhat of an overkill,"
Selene commented with a small laugh.

"Better that than us!"
Yuki chimed in. At least it seemed like she forgot about the whole dress debacle, her overreaction a definite contributor to the current problem. "But...what are we going to do about food now? Is there an insta-melt button on your ice stick?" Yuki asked curiously, looking over at the object Selene held in her hand.

Casting aside an introductory extending of the olive branch upon arrival, unintentionally causing Yuki to misinterpret a kind gesture, potentially insulting Selene's tea brewing skills, and now nearly setting the dorm on fire. New Roomie was proving to be a handful.

It was certainly a relief to have the tea set taken away from her, as soon as the last piece of china was taken from Mitsuko’s clutches she toppled backwards onto the floor, as she’d finally overbalanced to the point of toppling which would have spelt disaster for the expensive tea set had she still been holding onto it. There was no time to nurse her now sore back however as there was other problems to attend to.

Mitsuko clambered back up to her feet and darted over towards the kitchen, getting ready to grasp hold of the pot of boiling water to pour it on top of her now burning shoe however it seemed Yuki had beat her to it. Mitsuko watched as the girl recoiled back in pain and quickly ran over towards the sink to pour cold water on her now burnt hands, she could empathise with Yuki’s pain but at the same time she was somewhat relieved that she’d hurt herself before Mitsuko had the chance to make the same mistake. Her attention switched back towards the burning shoe and she tried to figure out a way to stop it from burning, she considered knocking the pot over with oven mitts, or maybe picking up the shoe itself and tossing it out the window, instead however she simply sighed and waved her hand dismissively at the shoe and turned away from it, leaving Selene to fix the problem.

Mitsuko stood back whilst Selene used her ice creating stick, or whatever that thing was, to encase the entire stove in a block of ice. It was a little bit excessive for the simple problem but it did get the job done. Now Mitsuko couldn’t help but feel a little bit responsible for what had happened, she should have paid attention to where the shoe had fallen after she’d kicked it off, that way she could have prevented all of this from happening and saved herself the loss of a perfectly functional piece of footwear at the same time.

As the two laughed nervously about the whole ordeal Mitsuko couldn’t help but notice the smoke damage that had coated the side of the wall above the stove and part of the ceiling, she’d noticed previously on how meticulously clean the room had been, especially the ceiling, but now that it had been stained black she could somewhat appreciate the advantages of having a neat freak as a roommate. She only hoped that Selene’s clear issues surrounding cleanness would compel her to wash the smoke damage away, as doing so herself was the last thing Mitsuko wanted to do, ever.

"But...what are we going to do about food now? Is there an insta-melt button on your ice stick?"

“Eeyum.. Meyabi wiicud.. Aye myeen..” Mitsuko stammered, trying desperately to think of a solution to the mess she’d caused but nothing came to her mind, she didn’t know anything about ice creating devices or the most efficient processes of thawing out kitchen appliances, so she was at a loss in both fields of expertise. She didn’t even know there was technology available that could create such sudden cold before today, adding this to everything that had just happened and it just means things were getting just a little bit too complicated for her to want to get involved.

Nether the less Mitsuko felt as if something needed to be done, this dorm room was supposed to be her sanctuary from the annoyances of the world around her, if it ended up just as stressful as everywhere else then she’d just overload on annoyances which would just spell disaster for everyone.

“S.. seeory..” Mitsuko sighed, once again bowing her head down in apology. She honestly wanted to help but she just didn’t know what to do.

"Better that than us!" Yuki chimed in as Selene stared at the icy sarcophagus that encased the stove sitting before them, her breath still exiting as misty white wisps due to the lingering coldness in the surrounding air. At least they'd averted a potential fire crisis. However... "But...what are we going to do about food now? Is there an insta-melt button on your ice stick?" The pink-haired girl asked as Selene looked at her, the corporate heiress' expression showing that she was emotionally somewhat at a loss over what to do next.

"I don't know, Yuki-chan. I've only ever used this device for the first time," Selene replied, hanging her head in resignation. Truth be told, the Wand of Biting Cold was designed first and foremost to be a weapon - albeit not exactly a lethal weapon, but there wasn't a quick-thaw function to this wand as far as she knew. "I suppose we'll just have to wait until the ice melts." The corporate heiress replied as she put the wand away.

"In the meantime though something needs to be done about the surrounding walls," Selene continued as she examined the walls. The damages done by the fire were obvious - the ceiling and walls, once sporting a pristine paint job were now stained black with soot.

“S.. seeory..” Mitsuko said apologetically, bowing her head as Selene stood with her arms folded across her chest and brows arched.

"It's not like saying sorry is going to make things go back to normal. But I understand you meant no malice... so, apology accepted," Selene said as she let her arms drop to her sides before taking out her smart phone and making a call. "Yes Morgan... there's been an incident over at my dorm. Aye, send in the interior decorators to get a new paint job done. And tell them to claim payment from Selene Frostfire... Thank you, goodbye." The corporate heiress gave one of her assistants a task at hand to take care of the fire damages.

"So... how about I say we dine outside for a change?" Selene asked as a forced a smile, putting her hands on her hips as she looked at the other two girls.

The dorm room was a mess. A decent portion of their kitchen was frozen solid, there was a trail of spilled tea from where the pot had been overturned and dumped onto Mitsuko to wherever she'd walked to, and now the walls and ceiling near the stove were pitch black with burnt rubber and leather. Yuki let out an exasperated sigh. Not only was this going to take forever to clean, but this would likely end up delaying their dinner. And she loved food so much. So much...

Mitsuko uttered an apology and Selene was anything but receptive to the idea. Okay, so she WAS receptive and accepted it, but she was not happy about everything. Yuki kept mum and pulled her lips in tightly like she was watching a friend get scolded by her mother and she was unfortunate enough to witness. If nothing else, she was certainly making a lasting first impression with the other two room occupants.

Selene didn't seem to know a way to thaw the appliances, and Yuki certainly wasn't about to start eating a box of raw spaghetti (then again, on second thought....), but it seemed like the rich roomie had another idea up her sleeve. She whipped out a phone, dialed a quick number, and called up a team of someones to clean everything up. The extent of her beckons never ceased to amaze Yuki, who found it hard to believe that she had such things available to her. Certainly there'd be no complaints from Yuki!

"Whaa...so cool~! You're the best, Selene-san!"
Yuki complimented with an airy tone complete with sparkles. She really disliked cleaning en masse. It was just easier to keep everything clean bit by bit than to let it get dirty and do a major overhaul.

She eventually removed her hands from the running water and lightly dabbed away the moisture with a kitchen towel. Looking down at her palms, she assessed the damage, mini Nora invisibly flying over to check them out as well. The guardian had been in hiding this whole time, but her calling as the girl's protector required her to check on any injuries she had. The skin was red and beginning to puff up; it was burnt and blistering and there was not much to do at this point. Yuki frowned and let out another sigh. Nora, on the other hand, tried to "make it better" by licking the girl's palms. Rough cat tongue was the last thing Yuki needed and she immediately tensed in pain.

"OWowow! Not helping! Thanks...anyway..."

Yuki recoiled and pulled back her aggravated hands and strode over to a nearby cupboard. "Good thing I bought a first aid kit!" She pulled down a bottle of aloe vera and a small white box with a red cross on it. She squeezed the gel into her palms and rubbed them carefully together, carefully put some gauze into both hands, and extracted a bright green roll of self-adhesive medical wrap. She wrapped up both of her hands a few times until her hand from her knuckles to her wrists were covered. The girl flexed her fingers a few times to make sure they could still move, and put everything back in the cupboard.

"There! Good as new! Now I look like a boxer,"
she said with a broad smile and a few punches and jabs in the air. She put up a boxing stance in front of the floor-length mirror in the room to see how she looked, and was pleased with what she saw. Eye of the Tiger started playing inside her head while she posed until it was interrupted by a comment from Selene.

"So... how about I say we dine outside for a change?"

"Oh, yes! Let's do that!"
Yuki exclaimed in excitement, the throbbing in her hands temporarily melting away while food took over the majority of her forethought. "You're coming with, right, Kobayashi-san? Either way you should change, it can't be comfortable being covered in tea!"
