Haien looked at the small 2-story building from a few feet away. It didn't look like much....but he could practically smell the magic coming from within. Either many magic-user frequented this shop...of a magic user resided within. "If I can make contact with a resident magus...." Haien murmured aloud. If he could make contact with a resident magus, he could solidify his position as the ambassador of the Fayne...and maybe advance his own knowledge of human magic. Human magic was somewhat fascinating...

Haien walked up to the shop, and pushed the door open. A little bell above the door rang, and Haien stepped into the small shop. Odd. It didn't look like much on the inside either. He looked around, but didn't immediately see anyone. But the feel of magic was stronger. There had to be something about that shop. The cat-like boy just KNEW that there was something he couldn't see. But it had to be there. The sense of magic was too strong for there not to be a connection to some form of magus. "H-hello? I-is anyone here?"

Star nearly jumped ten feet in the air when the door opened and the bell rang. It was a good thing she didn't, though, because that would have completely ruined her manicure. Star quickly swept her nail kit under the counter, standing up and hiding her half-finished hand behind her back. She hadn't been expecting any customers today, at least, none that she hadn't met before. Most of the people that came in here were members of Arcadia, and they knew her well enough to know that her doing her nails at work was fairly tame on the spectrum of Star-like behavior.

"Irrashaimase!" said Star with a smile, clasping her hands behind her back and trying not to touch the wet nail polish. Hopefully the customer, who looked young enough to be a student at the high school although Star was sure she had never seen him before, wouldn't pick up on the telltale scent of acetone. But if he did, she would just have to talk her way out of the situation. She smiled and straightened up, still dressed in her school uniform from earlier that day.

"Welcome to Eldritch Influence. Can I help you with something?"

Haien wrinkled his nose. What was that awful stench? He shook his head and studied the girl sitting on the other side of the counter. He studied her eyes, and raised one eyebrow when he detected that undefinable quality that marked a person as a magic-user. "Are you the source of this building's magical aura?" He asked bluntly, setting aside the complex court manners of the Fayne. He didn't really have time to waste on the antics of humans. Or their strange smells.

"You're aura isn't strong enough to mark you as even a full Mage, much less an Adept-Mage or a Master-Mage. And you certainly aren't a Sorcerer-Adept." Haien commented, tilting his head to one side. Either this place was another dead end, just like he 6 other places he had checked in this human city. "So either there is another, more powerful magus who utilizes this building, or you merely frequent this place....frequently."

"The source of this building's aura?" repeated Star, frowning slightly at the boy. It was probably the strangest question she had been asked since she started working here, and somehow, she was pretty sure that it wasn't some sort of cheesy pick-up line. Her brow furrowed in confusion as the boy continued to look at her closely, as if examining her for something. Was something wrong...?

A look of understanding dawned on her face as he mentioned magical power, her mouth forming a small 'o'. He must have had the power to sense magic. It would make sense, then, that he wouldn't get much of a reading out of her. Her abilities were elemental, and they weren't even that good in that regard. Sure, she was a strong elemancer, but strong meant absolutely nothing when she couldn't control her powers at all.

"You must be looking for Tsukasa-sensei," she said. "Um, Hiro Tsukasa. He owns this store and lives upstairs, but I'm not sure if he's in right now. I'm Star, one of his students. I work here." She extended her hand to shake his, only just realizing as she put her hand out that she had put out the hand whose fingernails were half-painted, clearly showing the boy what she had been doing when she walked in.

Oops.

The Middleman (stubborn, yet relaxed)
"Finished getting my weekly list up." Shad muttered to himself, with a bit of a whistle in his tone as he waddled up to the counter with books in hand. Seeing that once again, the boy's bathroom was off-limits to him due to explosive overuseage, Shad resolved to only bathe once a month. Which was natural back home since there was little to no plumbing or warm bathwater, so to counter the stench, he helped himself to free perfume samples over by the mall. This was basically a book donation of sorts to get some store credit.

In his hands were about 18 books stacked on top of each other, each one a 400 page volume of ancient magical tomes on various studys and magical principles that he acquired several months before. Of course, Shad didn't really mind the weight much as he walked over, waiting behind the customer who was chatting with Star-sempai. As long as he got mentally stronger to vastly increase his mana supply, it would be well-worth it when he went on the next mission. Anyways, Shad's short stature made him easy to overlook when he walked inside the bookstore and over to the counter with books ready to donate.

He frowned a bit just thinking about the fact that he hadn't really talked to Hiro-sensei in a while. In a way, he was being left behind as everyone was going ahead, since there was no way to improve without a tutor. His feelings of depression dampened his own magical aura as a result, yet he held back the tears and bottled them up once more as he waited in line.

Haien nodded, reassuming the mantle of court manners. They were so useful with humans for delicate situations. After all...unless someone knew the ritual dismissal used between the Fayne to show someone that you weren't wanted there...it would be rude simply to ask someone to leave. Haien smiled, his face going from half-deadpan half-thoughtful to a dazzling expression. "If this Tsukasa is the magus who is the source of this place's aura, then I shall simply have to wait until he returns." Haien remarked, delicately taking Chizu's hand between two fingers. "My name is Haien Arvoitus."

He released her hand, stepping off to the side, eying the boy who had come up behind him. After a moment's study, he discovered that this newcomer had the aura of a magic-user as well. Maybe this wasn't just any old shop after all....
