Was it really several seconds? It felt more like minutes, perhaps even an hour. I mean, a couple of gun swinging action shouldn't be enough to tire a grown man, now should it? Well, if that was the case...

Bio-hazardous blood dripped from his chin as it trailed down his cheek from his red-soaked jet black hair. The sticky liquid had half his face covered, to the point that he had to shut one of his eye tightly to prevent some of the blood from staining his sights. Blood doesn't taste that bad, but he definitely doesn't want any for his meals. Over the beatdown, he thought he could hear his own skull crack. Maybe twice, if his ears were not fooling him. But really, what could fool the meta-virus?

"I'll tell you who she is to me," He simply grinned even with the loaded M9 muzzle was pressed up his solar plexus, just waiting to unleash it's flaming hot lead payload. "She's my ojou-sama, and I'm her butler," Without much of a hesitation, he raised his hand, grabbing the barrel of the gun, lifting it up and jammed the muzzle to his own forehead. "What else..." His grip on the barrel of the gun tightened. "...can a butler be..." The gun barrel started to deform under the increasingly heavy pressure exerted by V's vice grip alone. "...if he can't even protect their master?" Before anyone knew it, the M9 was really nothing more than a lump of metal. "I repeat. I, Seth Rouga, am the butler to the corporate heiress, Selene Frostfire. You dare to mess with her you're gonna have to be ready for a whole world of me,"

As if that wasn't terrifying enough. The overflowing blood really amplified his already deadly killer instinct.

"That's impossible..." the gunman stammered as Seth picked himself up after being on the receiving end of a no holds barred beatdown, as the boy grinned even with the gun's muzzle pressing against his solar plexus. And this time, it was the kidnapper's turn to fear, as the gun began shaking in his grip. Such loyalty wasn't something that could be bought, could such a person possibly exist?

Meanwhile, Selene watched the scene unfold before her, uneasily twisting the corner of her jacket as she watched. Did Seth really mean all of what he just said? Things had already gotten out of hand at this point; she'd never thought things would turn out this way. Ignoring everything Seth had said earlier about staying inside the car, the corporate heiress exited the vehicle, "Stop this already!" Selene exclaimed as she shoved the nearest gunman aside. "I'm so sorry Seth... I never thought things would turn out this way," the corporate heiress said with the most sincerely apologetic tone, before looking away from Seth.

"That would be enough," A man's voice called out from the branches of a nearby tree, and immediately the gunmen complied as they put away their weapons. Meanwhile, the bodyguard whom the masked assailants have shot earlier just got up onto his feet, fine apart from a pair of red stains on his suit. Wait... those were paintball rounds?

The source of the voice revealed himself as a man jumped down from the branches of the tree, landing on his feet before standing straight up. An older Caucasian man in his late forties with military-grade short-cropped gray hair, dressed in black fatigues and combat boots paced around the three men with silent panther-like steps, before eying Seth intently. Selene beamed at the sight of the man, knowing full well who he was. It was none other than Siegfried Rommel, security consultant of Frostfire Industries and at-times custodian for the Frostfire children.

"Your courage is commendable, junge," Siegfried commented in a recognizable German accent, his Japanese punctuated with the use of strategically-placed German words, before sending away the 'kidnappers' with a gesture of his gloved hand. "I think we can safely say with regards to being a bodyguard for mein fräulein, you passed this part of the test with flying colors, Herr Seth... but pray tell, why is it that you chose to take a beating, instead of fighting back?" Siegfried was confident that he's made an accurate assessment of Seth's abilities, and that if he wanted to he could've quite easily mopped the floor with the three men.

"Are you all right, Seth?" Selene asked, examining the extent of Seth's injuries while Siegfried awaited Seth's response.

"Heh. Can't say I hadn't expected this," He said, seemingly unsurprised by the disappearance of hostility from the three gunmen. Although, he can't help but feel relieved knowing that all this WAS just an act (a realistic one too). Despite his nonchalant exterior, he was actually starting to get worried that the kidnapping attempt might actually be the real deal, since the beating DID take quite a while. He was worried that he might have been waiting for a non-existent savior.

Glad he was right, though. Who knows what might have happened if it really was a real kidnapping attempt.

"Believe me, I've had worse than this,"
He said in response to her concern, trying his best to reassure the worried corporate heiress. Seriously, coming out of this with a broken skull and a misplaced jaw is nothing compared to the time when he had his torso drilled through. Literally. By a shadow-based spiky and jagged oversized drill. Also that time when he was nearly frozen to death. That's HIS memory of anything gory that had ever happened to him. The real Seth had it worse.

"And really, if you want to play out a kidnapping scene, at least do it in a more convincing way," He said, turning over to the German man in black military uniform. "The ruthlessness was well played, but even though the bodyguard was unceremoniously killed, I wasn't. I mean, if a kidnapper had no qualms about killing a guy, why would he chose to beat me up instead of killing me? Having a witness is the worst mistake a kidnapper could make. Also..." He pushed himself off from the limousine, as he had been leaning on it for support this whole time. "...I figured if I back, they won't hold back from using anything more than a grenade. If I fought back, I could suffer a much bigger loss than if I just took the beating. And that's not good for, uh... mein fräulein here," He turned to face Selene with a grin on his face. "That's not what a butler's supposed to do, right?"

...what the hell is wrong with him today...?

Siegfried nodded as Seth gave his explanation. That much was true about the loopholes he'd pointed out in the men's acting - but then again, it was supposed to play out a kidnap attempt, not an assassination. But such was the limitations of training exercises; while certainly far from being a Hollywood action movie, no matter how realistic it gets one can never approach the level of unpredictability of an actual combat scenario. The former German anti-terrorist laughed as Seth addressed Selene as 'mein fräulein', speaking as though he were already Selene's butler. "I suppose we'll have to see what Frau Frostfire has to say based on what you have been tested on so far. So, any comments so far, mein fräulein?" Siegfried turned towards Selene, who had thus far been leaning against the side of the car, her chin resting thoughtfully against her right hand with her right elbow resting on her left hand.

"Let's see... as far as housekeeping goes he's got much to learn," Selene commented as she got up from her leaning position to fold her arms across her chest. "He's certainly above average in terms of culinary skills, although I wonder how he would do making full meals instead of tea and snacks... but I say we can give him more than just a passing mark for his performance in that area, and..." the corporate heiress beamed at Seth. "As far as being a bodyguard goes I say he's just what we need."

"Are you sure you didn't originally intend to be Frau Frostfire's bodyguard?" Siegfried asked jokingly. "But ja, first things first we'll see to it that your injuries are tended to, and then... well, expect us to contact you again shortly after."

Not long after that, but still pretty long...

He could have simply denied it, since yeah, meta-virus, superhealing, hence there should be no need for any medical treatment. Despite that, he thought it might worry her too much if he refused medical treatment while looking like a zombie fresh from death and resurrection. And so he had to make his way back to the dorm room, under the dimming glare of the sun with his head wrapped with bandages like a mummy. He was extremely inclined to take off the wrappings, as it was bothering him extensively. Halfway through the present unwrapping, however, a voice piped up in his head. A voice that was LATE by 12 FRIKKIN' HOURS.

Huuuaaahhh~~~ What a sleep! The voice mentally yawned, nearly causing even V too yawn as well, according to the assumption that yawns are contagious. "Mm... taking a morning jog? Not like you at all, eh?"

Morning jog...? Ah-hum. BOY. Listen to me, very, very, very, closely.

IT'S SUNDOWN.

"...WHAT???!?!?!" Out of pure shock he yelled out loudly towards the red sky, shattering any sense of sun-setting serenity that was present a few moments earlier. He grabbed his still-bandaged head and began to run around in circles, panicking and despairing at the possible loss of a perfect job opportunity. "V!!!! VVVVVV!!! WHY DIDN'T YOU WAKE ME UP?!?!?!?!"

Now why should I? Let me tell you this, if a butler can't wake up early on his own, he's not fit to even start thinking of being a butler.

Ooh, harsh. One good thing that came from that though, it shut him up good. Mentally sighing, V said, "Let the bygones be bygones. You still have the WDA and that donut shop, after all. Come on, let's get some dinner," He said, taking over his legs and began motioning him back to his dorm room.

By the way, what's up with all the bandages?

"Something," He replied simply.
