Okay, he was pretty sure this was the right place, so he needed to go through his checklist one last time. He had his camera - check. He had the list of a manner of devious and naughty things that were meant to occur here tonight - check. He had the list of criminals that were meant to be here - check. He had the contact details for that source on the internet that was probably in some basement the poor sap - check. He had his mobile in case he in needed to contact said contact - check. He had his back up?

"Maybe I should've told them an actual time instead of just 'this evening'." Jonny sighed as he viewed the building in question in question from across the street in an alleyway, using his camera as a makeshift telescope. Christmas back home had been far longer than expected, and ultimately, he missed the flight back to Hyakuji nine times. Out of ten. He was a bit behind on things, and in need of a good story.
"And I need to get back into practice." He muttered, lamenting that he hadn't actually found anything to report on at Hyakuji High. So either something was very, very wrong, or he'd just been looking in the wrong places. Still, a story within the city itself would work... right?

"God I hope so." He stood up as he put away the camera in his backpack, taking a few steps forwards as he emerged from the alleyway, looking up at the neon sign that read 'Good Old Bob's Dainty Donuts.' He made his way across the street, casually dodging any oncoming vehicle with small bursts of superspeed, before finally arriving in front of the establishment itself. Walking in, he found a table near a window, so he could keep a look out, and be easily spotted in turn. In the mean time...
"Variety pack please." And thus he made the order.

Yuki walked down the sidewalk of Downtown Hyakuji, keeping close to the side of the buildings and trying to keep a low profile. However, in order to do that she probably should've dressed more, well, normal. She tucked her hair under a black hat with a wide brim (accessorized with a large feather) and a pair of large sunglasses (yes, in the evening). She paired these with a dark knee-length trench coat, collar flipped up to block out the wind on her neck, and a black pair of jeans with flat boots. She looked like she was either ready to walk down an emo fashion runway, or make an appearance at a poetry reading in a 1960s cafe.

Jonny was finally back from his extended vacation and had asked for a hand with some sort of assignment that required investigation. Naturally she wanted to look the part if she was going to do it right. She avoided eye contact with the people on the sidewalk, had her hands in her pockets, and walked to her destination. She had no idea what time she was supposed to show up, so as soon as the sun started going down, she left. Nora was invisibly flying behind her, keen to tag along to see what shenanigans would take place for her amusement.

However, despite her attempts to look cool, nothing could stop this girl's ferocious appetite for unhealthy food. On the way to Point B she managed to stop at a hot dog stand, sweet potato stand, and a coffee cart all before getting to where she was going.

Yuki wanted to test her sneakiness and see if she could trick Jonny...if he was even at the donut shop yet. She caught a glimpse of the brightly lit sign, scanned the front window, and luckily he had put himself in plain view. The girl walked a bit further down the sidewalk, crossed the street, and walked back toward the shop from the opposite side. She pulled down the brim of her hat and nonchalantly slid in the doorway of the confectionnaire while crouching low. She walked bent over, lower than the tops of the booths until she was behind his, and...

"BOO!"

She jumped up and threw her arms up in surprise, hoping to get a rise out of him.

"Did I scare you? Maybe a little bit? Good to see you! I'mmm going to get some donuts," she said in a quick string of phrases before trotting to the counter. She came back a few moments later with a plate full of chocolate-covered donuts and slid into the seat across from him. Yuki picked up a donut with one hand, and pulled off her sunglasses with the other, taking a giant bite out of the pastry.

"So! What's the plan? I'm ready for some undercover investigation..."
She eyeballed the box of donuts, just now noticing them. "Oh! You like donuts, too? I've never eaten a whole box before. You're quite ambitious!" Nora took the liberty of sitting on the seat next to Yuki, still unseen to the rest of the world.

The donuts didn't take long to arrive, and he opened up the box with gleeful delight on his face. Most of the flavours one could imagine were inside, and he hadn't had a good snack in a while. He looked around still, though he couldn't particularly make out anyone he recognised. Shrugging, he took one of the donuts from the box, bringing to his mouth, his stomach waiting expectantly. He was going to-

"BOO!"

-yelp in shock as someone jumped out behind him. He ended up swallowing the donut whole, spending the next few moments trying to force it down without incident. He gasped for air as he finally succeeded in swallowing, looking at the person who had made him jump like that.
"Did I scare you? Maybe a little bit? Good to see you! I'mmm going to get some donuts," Who was this person? Why did she take delight in scaring him like that? And why was she dressed as if she were going to audition for a part in the Matrix Trilogy?

Before he could actually ask these questions of the young lady however, she had already moved over to the counter, from which she returned with a plate loaded with chocolate donuts. As she sat down, she removed her sunglasses, and recognising just whose eyes they were, he deduced the identity.
"Yuki?!" To think she of all people could scare him faster than an actual house of horrors was... a little disturbing actually. "Uh, glad you could make it."

"So! What's the plan? I'm ready for some undercover investigation..." She was certainly quite chipper today. He noticed the way her eyes moved to his box of donuts, and almost defensively, he moved his arm to cover it.
"Oh! You like donuts, too? I've never eaten a whole box before. You're quite ambitious!" However, he couldn't stay that way long, and loosened up the so called 'defense' within moments as he took a bite of the next donut in the box.

"Everybody loves donuts - lord knows I do." He took another bite, allowing himself to savour the taste, checking around for cameras. Never could tell with these sort of places.
"Well, there are two versions of the plan." He said, holding up two fingers to emphasize this fact. "The one where we wait for others to show up, and the one where we don't. Aside from that, they're exactly the same."

He removed from his pocket a map, clearly printed off the internet since he couldn't actually afford anything like say, the actual plans of the building. He laid it down on the table, holding down one edge with his hand, the other with the donut box.
"'Good Old Bob' is a crime lord by the name of Franky the Flamengo. And this is his base of operations." He pointed to a room within the staff area, no bigger than 4 feet by 4 feet, and unmarked.

"That's an elevator, believe it or not. We sneak in, take a ride on it, and bingo, we're in the secret hideout. From there, we do some snooping, take some photos, and hopefully get out in one piece. Maybe bust up business whilst we're at it." He finished up the donut, moving onto the next one.
"Any questions?"

"Just one. Isn't this dangerous?" A stern voice came from behind behind him like a phantom.

All this time he had been in the donut shop, patiently waiting for his snooper buddy since this morning. Quite a feat for someone who is always late for something. Heck, he would've missed the meeting time if he hadn't decided to spend the night in the donut shop itself, which had drawn quite a number of stares from their everyday and occasional customers. How he managed to secure permission to sleep here was a detail that does not need to be delved any further than the fact that he managed it.

And, quite frankly, he had been sleeping since the last few dozens of minutes, and only woke up when V jerked him awake by invading his dream by flooding it with images of Wookies, Draculas and Cthulhus. He had woken up with a jolt and a very messy hair that he didn't bother to gussy up when he realized that his snoopers-in-arms have arrived. How did he managed to get into the crew, however...

"I can't believe you'd sneak into a mafia's hideout just to get some stories for the school news..." He said, yawning widely as he scratched his head and rubbed his eyes, messing up his hair even worse than it had been. Clearly, he was still in the land of grogginess, not caring whether that word exists or not.

While Jonny went about his explanation, Yuki nodded in understanding while eating her donuts. However, the more he explained, the more slowly she chewed, and the more color drained from her face. Crime lord? Secret hideout? Just what kind of assignment was this? She struggled to swallow the last of her third donut as she processed the information. The poor girl wasn't even touching the fourth one.

"W-wait a minute...doesn't that sound sorta, well, out of our league? This sounds like a job for the police...Not that I'm not up for some adventure, but I kind of like being in one piece. Hahaha!..." Her poorly timed laugh was slightly shrill and obviously nervous, and even Nora was giving her an unsure look about the whole situation.

"Isn't this dangerous?"

Yuki, already anticipating attacks from Franky's thugs, jumped in her seat at the sudden appearance of the third party. Regardless of who he was, she was glad to have someone on her side. She assumed he was supposed to be part of Jonny's group but to be honest, he looked rather...homeless. But also familiar. Wait, wasn't that...

"...Seth? Is that you?"

It'd been a while since she saw him, last time being at the hospital after the giant ice demon battle a few months back. He seemed healed, but as curious as he had been when she first saw him passed out on the mountainside. Nonetheless she was glad to have another person with them, and she was fairly secure in his fighting abilities. She brightened up into as much of a smile as she could given her impending doom.

"It's great to see you again! I hope you're doing better."

And almost instantaneously, once the greetings were swapped, she went back to serious mode, looking at Jonny for some sort of consolation in her next question.

"So, um...is this it? Or...are there other people coming? Like maybe a SWAT team or a small army?" Even more than breaking rules, she disliked deliberately throwing herself in harm's way. She wasn't the kind of person who needed to prove herself and be a hero, especially not for a spread in the school newspaper. Did anyone even read that thing? Come to think of it, she couldn't even remember the title of the publication. Was she going to die for a publication that was probably going to be chucked in the bin by 95% of the student body?

She immediately regretted not signing up for the martial arts class. Art, theater, and cooking? What was she thinking? She needed SURVIVAL skills. The pink-haired girl was one panic away from hyperventilating. Something about this situation was scarier than the giant ice demon they went up against before...maybe it's because the mafia was notorious for slow torturing whereas death via giant would have come swift and likely with a splat.

Yuki managed to rip a napkin into shreds by the time her train of thought derailed and she was brought back to reality. The girl coughed and tried to shove the bits of paper to the side without the two noticing.

"Just one. Isn't this dangerous?"

Jonny's jump was synchronised with Yuki's, making this the second time today someone had done that to him. Was this gonna happen with everyone he met after coming back from Britain? He turned his head to look at the one who had shocked them like that, and though there was some slight confusion due to the scruffy hair, he realised it at roughly the same time as Yuki.
"...Seth? Is that you?"

Last time these two in particular had met for a period longer than say, two minutes, had been fighting an ice giant up on the mountain. And it seemed, that despite having been torn apart in that encounter, the guy had made a complete recovery. To say this guy was durable was frankly putting it lightly.
"It's great to see you again! I hope you're doing better."
"Yeah, I mean, it almost looked like you weren't gonna make it back on the mountain. Talk about one tough guy." He grinned, slightly proud he was able to bring a familiar group together.

"So, um...is this it? Or...are there other people coming? Like maybe a SWAT team or a small army?" Yuki brought them back to the main point, and he couldn't exactly blame her worries on the situation.
"Admittedly, I just went around asking what people I could. Whether or not they'll answer 'yes' will depend on whether or not they turn up. So yeah, this might just be it. But I think we could match any small army, given our abilities?" Perhaps he was being overconfident in those abilities, but against thugs with guns? Shouldn't be too much of a problem.

"I can't believe you'd sneak into a mafia's hideout just to get some stories for the school news..."
"Hey, we could be stopping whatever sinister plans they have as well. Doesn't that count for anything?" Admittedly, that wasn't denying Seth's point in the least...
"Anyway! I only invited you, so you can still leave if you want. And..." He spotted Yuki tear the napkin apart. "...if it's easier for you, that's okay."

He spotted a worker emerge from the staff area, and looking at the list of 'our dedicated staff' on the wall, he realised that all of the official staff were currently out and working in the store itself.
"Well, if you wanna join me, here's your chance." He rose from his seat, and quickly made his way through the doors into the staff area. Spotting the elevator, he hit the poster next to it, hitting the button that was meant to be there. It didn't take long for the doors to open, and he stepped in.

He leaned on the chair for a moment as he simply watched Jonny got up from his seat and proceeded straight to the staff area for whatever reason he might have there. He scratched his head, weighing reasons and implications he'd have for following him. Of course, this is really none of his business, but when exactly have he ever turned down an invitation before? Let's see... twice already he had been forced to hold a promise without being given any chance to turn it down, and one of them had been made with a stranger. The other one resulted in him being curbstomped at Underground 10. When it managed to happen and WITHOUT him actually realizing he was being beaten was still a mystery.

And now, for the third time he had been forced to hold a promise he'd never had the chance to turn down. And this is mostly because the one who proposed it was a familiar voice that came from behind him. But the moment he turned around all he could see was a trail of dusts and smokes. And being the kind of guy that he is, he decided to keep it and meet them as promised. True, he's given the chance to back down now, but he's done so much, he's gotten this far, why stop now? Yawning widely yet again he dropped off from his own chair, and strode off to the staff room, wobbling slightly along the way. He passed through the open door of the elevator and leaned on the wall, sliding down till he hits the floor. Somehow standing feels kinda draining to him. He raised his hand over his hair, brushing it side to side making it symmetrical."I slept here just to be early for this you know," He said, plucking a lock of hair at the front of his head.

"Well, if you wanna join me, here's your chance."

Yuki watched as Jonny walked toward the back of the donut shop and navigated his way toward the elevator. How did he know that button was behind the poster? And where exactly did he get all this information from? It was a little sketchy that some high schooler could track down all of this knowledge about a "crime lord" since typically such things weren't open to the general public.

She knew the seconds were ticking away until she had to make a decision, and it seemed it was now or never. She couldn't let him get into this mess by himself. The remorse would eat away at her soul for the rest of her life if he didn't come to school the next day and she knew it was her fault for not giving him the help he needed. If the pink-haired girl could show up to an ice demon showdown for someone she knew even less, she could surely support one of her first friends at his overly ambitious crime ring bust.

Besides, she had the advantage of attacking with a gigantic lion if need be. Surely that'd catch them off-guard if things got crazy.

"You've got our backs, right Nora?" she glanced hopefully at her companion, who gave her an "ehhh....I suppose" look in return. Yuki let out a sigh that was as mixture of resolve and frustration and knew full well she'd have to take advantage of her sudden surge of determination.

"Jonny-kun, hold the door..!" she called in a loud whisper.

Yuki pushed herself up from the booth, shoved the last donut into her mouth for an extra dose of sugary courage, and quickly walked over to meet the other two in the tiny compartment along with Nora. She felt like her hat was actually being counter-productive (judging by the stares she got from the shop patrons), so she plucked it off her head and shoved it into a coat pocket as best she could. Her hair remained pinned up, but that was better for this scenario.

"Looks like we're coming with." Nora perched herself on Yuki's shoulder and dropped the invisibility spell she'd been using, coming into full view in her compact mode. She held off on full transformation until it was completely necessary.

I apologize for the brevity of it all

It was just a normal day for Selene - even though the English heiress was never a big fan of doughnuts, she'd at least heard this particular doughnut store sells pretty good ones. And it just happened so that she happened to be passing by. And given the situation, it simply wouldn't hurt to try a couple of them. The corporate heiress stepped into the store, dressed in a ribboned rose-pink dress, with a white jacket, and matching white dress boots, and accessorized with a pink shawl, folded up and wrapped around her neck like a scarf.

The corporate heiress bit slightly on her lower lip as the store clerk asked her what she would like to have, her eyes going over the brightly-colored selection of doughnuts with various types of frostings, coatings and fillings, before settling for a cappucino-flavored doughnut and cream cheese-filled doughnut, for take-away consumption.

And that was when, from the corner of her eye she noticed a few of her friends - there was no doubt it was Seth, Yuki and Jonny leave the shop and enter the staff area... wait, isn't that area off-limits? Grabbing her packet of doughnuts, the corporate heiress followed her friends. At the very least, she should go and warn them against getting into trouble trespassing onto private property. And before the elevator could go up, the familiar sight of an approaching strawberry-blond girl might just prompt them to hold the elevator for just a little while more...

He held the doors from closing when he saw the others coming, and one by one they poured in.
Including Selene, whom he hadn't even realised to be in the shop at all. Then again, he'd failed to initially to realise who or where anyone was today it seemed.
"Selene, meet Seth. Seth, meet Selene. Unless you've already met, in which case, that was rather redundant." He sped through introductions as the elevator closed, since aside (potentially) those two, everyone knew everyone.

"Just to go through what's happening, we're going to be descending into the lair of a crime lord. Take a few photos, maybe mess with the operation a little." He shrugged as he gave the shortened down explanation, the elevator whirring as, contrary to one might expect, it did indeed go down instead of up.
And for quite a while even. One had to wonder just how deep down it went. Then again, it was slow as hell.

"...That sounded rather stupid, didn't it?"

"We've met," He said, giving Selene a feeble two-finger salute. He could give plenty of reasons for them to have met each other, but the real first valid reason that is not a lie would be Arcadia. Of course, there's no need for them to know that. He doesn't even have the vigor to accidentally spout about the secret counter-supernatural organization.

He's strangely weak today. Was it because of the donut he had last night?

Just as the door to her future and enduring lifespan was about to shut out the light of the world potentially forever, Yuki spotted who other than the heir to Frostfire industries herself. Of course, she didn't often think of her this way, and mostly regarded her as the first girl to interact with her at the school, show her around, and really take her in as a friend. Yuki was happy to return this kind gesture by showering her with copious amounts of BFF love, but managed to keep it to an un-creepy level.

Yuki stuck her arm out to prevent the door from closing and motioned the girl toward them. "Selene-san! Come with us!" Would a true BFF have dragged her into this whole fiasco? Probably not, but she did make Yuki feel a whole lot better by being there with them. It was something about her calm and poised British persona that helped suck the feelings of dread out of the elevator.

"I'm so glad you could make it! Did Jonny-kun invite you too?" ....or did I just drag you into this whole thing while you were only trying to stop by and pick up a quick treat?

Regardless, Jonny went through introductions and his explanation as the elevator seemed to take forever to reach its destination. The last time a group like this was together in the evening it'd been at the local shrine, and that whole situation didn't work out as well as they'd hoped. It also didn't look like Seth was having that good of a time. Maybe he was claustrophobic? Yuki dropped down onto her heels next to him and looked him over, though she was certainly no doctor. Though she wasn't terrible at cheering people up.

"Are you feeling okay? Will you be able to do this?"
The creaking and lurching downward continued. It was even starting to make Yuki feel uneasy. She remained positive, though, as she knew this sort of thing helped others put their minds to rest. "In and out! We'll make this fast. It'll also lower our chances of getting caught. At least you don't have a giant, gaping abdominal wound this time, right?" She gave him a small smile and a few quick pats to the shoulder and stood back up. High school students going after a crime lord...what was Jonny thinking?

And just in a nick of time - Jonny held the door open just as Selene showed up, shortly after Yuki, with the pink-haired girl prompting the English heiress to get inside. And with everyone inside, the elevator doors closed. "Selene, meet Seth. Seth, meet Selene. Unless you've already met, in which case, that was rather redundant." Selene had to give it to Jonny that it was nice of him, even if she and Seth are already acquainted, something which Seth acknowledged as he gave the corporate heiress a Churchill salute.

"I'm so glad you could make it! Did Jonny-kun invite you too?" Yuki asked as the elevator began to move, the whirring of the lift motor being heard echoing down the elevator shaft.

"I was about to ask you all," Selene frowned slightly, her tone slightly worried. "Just what are we doing trespassing onto private property?" Even though it felt wrong, there was little doubt that a hidden elevator at the back room of a doughnut store was more than a little suspicious... was it even legal to begin with to make such an addition to a building? Wherever this elevator led to, the corporate heiress was certain that it was a place that was not intended to be made known.

"Just to go through what's happening, we're going to be descending into the lair of a crime lord. Take a few photos, maybe mess with the operation a little." Jonny replied as the elevator continued its trip downwards. Selene nodded calmly as the boy revealed their purpose. Now that made sense for a hidden elevator; the English heiress could only wonder if said crime lord belonged to a splinter faction that broke off from Wo Shing following the demise of its Hyakuji base of operations? Selene's worry over breaking the law was soon replaced by an itching curiosity and sense of adventure.

"Are you feeling okay? Will you be able to do this?" Yuki asked, drawing Selene's attention to Seth, who appeared strangely sickly as Selene rested a hand on Seth's shoulders, as the elevator continued to creak and rattle on its way down. "In and out! We'll make this fast. It'll also lower our chances of getting caught. At least you don't have a giant, gaping abdominal wound this time, right?"

"You're right Yuki-chan," Selene replied as she reached into her jacket's pockets, feeling her ritual dagger in one of them. "We should try to stay stealthy... but we'll also need to be prepared for a fight if the worst were to happen." That being said, the English heiress retrieved her ritual dagger, a short and ornate knife with a gem-encrusted handle and kept inside a golden sheath.

Yuki's worries over what they were actually about to do seemed to clear up, though were this time replaced by concerns over Seth's physical condition. While Jonny didn't see enough of him to base an average, he certainly didn't seem quite right. That would be something to watch out for.
"We should try to stay stealthy... but we'll also need to be prepared for a fight if the worst were to happen."

"Just try not to do anything fatal. It's a tad hypocritical, don't you think?" He was certainly planning on controlling himself... somewhat. He looked down at his hands, clenching them into fists for a moment, before releasing. He had to remember that these were just going to be commong thugs. Not robots or superspeedsters with even more absurd powers. At least, he hoped anyway. If things got out of hand, there was what that one cover teacher had shown them...

The elevator doors opened with a ding, and his jaw dropped at the sight before them.
"Well... I'd say that's not normal." But then, when would it ever be normal to find a hugeass factory this far underground?
"You wouldn't think this would be needed for donuts." He said, noting that the facility itself was currently offline.

"I'm gonna get some pictures, if that's alright. And figure out what this place is even for." He walked out, camera in hand, and began to walk through the elaborate maze that was the various criss-crosses of conveyor belts and oversized pieces of equipment. It might even be an idea to find the on switch.

The elevator eventually came to a halt and Yuki held her breath. She had no idea what was on the other side of that door once it opened. What if there were cameras, and the thugs saw them coming down the shaft, and were waiting on the other side of it with guns? Getting riddled with bullets wasn't exactly how she envisioned herself dying, not that she pictured that sort of thing very often. Or at all, for that matter.

She squinted her eyes, clenched her hands into fists and drew in a breath, preparing for a round of gunfire as the doors opened, and...

...nothing happened.

Not only did nothing happen, but there was no one to be found in the expansive underground real estate.

Opening her green eyes back to normal, she cautiously stepped out of the elevator with Nora floating close behind. Her nerves were racked, but she was doing her best to keep a level composure. She was a little backwards in that she could see dead people and not even care, but an empty factory creeped her out. Maybe it was that whole "potential hiding mafia members with lethal weapons" thing.

"Wow...this place is huge..."
The complete expanse of the building was unknown as they currently had about a third of the lights active. It was just enough to get around without bumping into things, but not so much as to safely operate heavy machinery. She didn't think the doughnut making business was so lucrative that there needed to be a secret factory devoted to it, so this had to be something else. She began to quietly tiptoe around the lower level, keeping an eye out for anything suspicious or hinting at what sort of an operation this was.
