Usually the corridors of the Yuki house dormitories were somewhat busy, either a few students were waiting around for their friends, some of the dormitory residents were talking outside of their rooms, whatever. Today, right at this moment, the corridors were mostly silent, the perfect time for Mitsuko to nip out of her room undetected and make a quick phone call on the public booth on the ground floor. She wouldn’t have it any other way, after all Mitsuko really didn’t want the bother of having some fellow students eavesdropping on her, or even worse, trying to start a conversation. The girl in her black hooded top, stonewash jeans and converse trainers had been at the public booth for about five minutes now, trying to keep her voice down but her Osakan accent wasn’t exactly the perfect fit for whispered conversations. “Yeayaaah Mothaaaaa aye diyd easya seyid.. Sieeyense.. Aye seyid Sieeyense..” Mitsuko sighed, the irritating thought of actually having to go through with taking science lessons still in the back on her mind as she talked, “Weyell aye deyont neyooooh, meyaybee ayewanta beya sienteest weeyen aye leeve skeyoooolll.” Her eyes rolled sarcastically as she listened to her mother talk on the other end of the phone, Mitsuko had promised she’d at least take one class that her parents deemed as important so she was stuck with it so there really wasn’t any point of talking about this in her opinion. If it were up to her she’d just have taken Art instead, draw a few pictures, write down why it’s important, done, simple. It was the same reason why she had taken Supernatural Studies and Music, they just seemed the easiest classes to go through. Yet according to her parents in the real world outside of school all the big employers wanted to see Maths, Science, History, Japanese and English Language degrees. It was unfortunate for Mitsuko that those were also her least favourite subjects, as in her opinion they required the most amount of her attention. “Yeyah Mothaaaaaa aye’m fiiieennn.. Nyaaah aye aint fyiiitin eeyin eynd aye dun weannaa.. Aye deonnooh, eeeviree wen heyer teyalks weeyeerd..” She continued, still as irritable as ever, “Neyoh eeyt weent bee byeeteer eef aye staartid weerin theyat dreees yeo sint miiiii.. Becoors aye dun liyeek weereen dreeseeeesss yeo neeoo theet dunchaaaa..” Very slowly Mitsuko dropped her head forwards, bumping it into the wall in front of her in a sign of defeat. She really hated it when her mother kept trying to make her do things she didn’t want to do and for some reason since she’d left to go to this school she’d started doing it all the more, even if she was all the way back in Osaka. |

It's not like he doesn't like cellphones. More like he doesn't have one. Because for some strange reason the heavens have decided that today will be his unlucky day by chucking his cellphone into the drain. Needless to say, the whole streets filled with people gaped their mouths at him trying to decipher his beautiful and colorful collection of curses and swear word in seventeen different language, including Latin, Greek, and Ancient Greek. How does all of it manage to come to his knowledge is not in any way important for anyone to know. Feeling the need to call his previous correspondent to resume their heated conversation involving tortilla chips and super-hot chili sauce, he headed back to the dormitory, where he managed to remember the existence of a public phone stand at the ground floor. It's quite a pity that there's only one of it, though. Also meaning if there's any two people wanting to use it, a fight might as well commence. Which shouldn't be surprising considering the kind of school this place is. Of course, it has been confirmed that heavens really did decide that today would be his unlucky day, as he stood there, tapping his foot, clucking his tongue, staring at the back of the head of a hooded girl who had been on the phone for more than fifteen minutes. Which, when converted to seconds, would mean that she had been on the phone for more than nine hundred seconds. Nine hundred is a long number, and he calculates time in seconds. Even worse when, in his mind, a talk on a phone should never last more than five minutes. Since everything can usually be resolved in less than five minutes on the phone, unless it's something particularly important, he might be able to forgive that. TROUBLE IS, from the looks of it, this girl right in front of him had been talking on the phone for more than five minutes about something that he could barely understand. Of course, the thought that it might be a seriously heavy Osaka dialect did cross his mind, but what does he care? For all he knows, she is a person who had been hogging the phone for more than fifteen, uh... scratch that. Twenty minutes. Blood bubbling and was close to blowing up, he put his foot down. This is what happens when someone messes with the Raging River. "OI!!! IF YOU'RE INTENDING TO TALK FOR THAT LONG THEN WHY DON'T YOU JUST WRITE A DAMN NOVEL AND POST?!" |

Here we go, this is exactly why Mitsuko didn’t want to be hanging around this phone for so long, she hadn’t even noticed the boy walk up behind her let alone hang around for a few minutes and now he was telling her to get off the phone? The girl raised her head off of the wall and turned around on the spot, glaring back at the boy with a stern expression on her face, her eyes blazing from behind her red tinted sunglasses. She was going to finish this conversation with her mother and just go, no reason to bother keeping the conversation going for as long as she had planned it would just be an annoyance competing for the use of the phone with this boy. But there was no chance, no chance in hell that he was going to pressure her into getting off the phone right away. “Seooreey Mothaaaa theyerees theyis reeyuude leetel keeeyid tryeen ta geet mii offtha feyoon.” She announced firmly, keeping eye contact with the boy whilst she spoke to let him know that she was speaking to him as well as her mother at the same time, “Neeyo aye dunnooo heyoo heeeeyis beyut dun waaaaarey wiicen stiiiil taaaaaaawk.” Immediately after doing that Mitsuko began to regret her decision. Acting like this did her right in her old school but back then she’d just been a normal girl in a school filled with normal kids, in this school all the children had super powers or something and from what she’d already seen they weren’t all as subdued as her own. Balls of fire, super speed, the ability to change your clothes using magic, okay so maybe the last one was even less deadly than her own power but the first two were pretty scary. Mitsuko really couldn’t be bothered with keeping up an argument with this guy, especially if it lead to a fight, in which case she really had to rely on him being a gentleman and not being willing to hit a girl. All it needed was for him to take another threatening step and she knew she’d fall like a deck of cards. Then again, this guy didn’t know what her power was, nobody did here, she’d not used her power once since she’d been here. Perhaps, and this was a long shot, he might mistake her foolish courage for confidence in her own power and simply assume she had an incredibly deadly one. All of these thoughts raced through her mind as she listened to her mother talk to her on the other end of the line, she wasn’t really listening to her, she was just focusing on trying to keep her stern expression from lasting. Her eye was already twitching slightly so if she lowered her guard for a second then she knew she’d surely let out her real emotions, annoyance, regret, a sigh, and with that she’d probably give up, hang up, and go back to her dorm. |

If there was a thermometer installed somewhere in his body where the reading would be visible to everyone around him, they would see the indicator reaching the top, pushing hard to expand farther than the narrow little hollow space would allow. Harder and harder it pushes, until in the end- SNAP. "OH THAT'S IT!!!" He roared in frustration, leaping over her with his arms and hands outstretched, clawing at the receiver like a mad panther just to get a hold of that thing in her hand. He landed surprisingly softly between her and the booth, despite the incredibly small space in between. He straightened up, filling in the gap and at the same time knocked her well away from the booth. He grabbed the receiver and yanked it off from her hand before yelling, "SHE'LL TALK TO YOU LATER!!!" loudly into the mouthpiece. Not bothering to place it back on the hook he simply pressed it down with his hand, severing the connection between the Osaka phone line and the Yuki dorm completely. Still livid with anger he turned around to face her, swinging the handset over her face like a knife. There was a sudden snapping sound but he didn't pay any attention to it. "You took too long. The Raging River doesn't forgive those who stays on the phone for more than five min-" As sudden pause as his eyes hovered on the handset, down the mouthpiece, along the cord, at to the phone- ...Oh. Look at that. The cord snapped. It has been confirmed. The heavens has decided that today will be his unlucky day, he thought, as he banged his head violently and periodically on the phone booth, in danger of causing even more damage to it than what he had already done. Then, after eight successive banging that caused his forehead to throb painfully (much to his regret), he turned around facing her yet again with a cold deathly glare, his head red with bruise. He raised his hand, brought it down in front of him pointing at him Phoenix Wright style, exclaiming, "THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!!!" How did that idea got into his head, I have no idea. |

Mitsuko’s eyes widened when the boy abruptly started yelling, she was clearly in shock so she still held onto the phone like an idiot rather than giving in and hanging up like she wanted to. When the boy jumped up into the air her eyes followed her, a small anxious smile spread across her mouth as she knew what was going to happen next yet her feet were rooted on the floor. It was as if he had jumped in slow motion, giving her enough time to regret her decision to stand up to the much larger male student in the first place. When he landed next to her Mitsuko released the receiver and brought her arms up to her chest for protection, closing her eyes tightly and letting out a yelp of surprise as she hoped the boy wouldn’t hit her or something, causing the phone to hang in the air for a few seconds before the boy grabbed it. Luckily, rather than feeling a punch to the face she felt a sudden push to her side as the boy shoved her out of the way. Unluckily though it was still a very hard push and Mitsuko with her small size and low weight stood no chance of standing against it. She was sent falling to the ground, travelling at least 5 feet before crashing down on her side sending a painful jolt up her arm as she felt her left elbow smack onto the ground with the weight of her own body behind it. Mitsuko quickly gripped her elbow tightly and sat up only to be faced with the phone as the boy swung it in front of her face, causing her to lean backwards slightly in fear as she tried desperately to hold back tears. He soon stopped waving the phone in front of her face but it left Mitsuko on her knees on the floor of the dormitory lobby, tears welling up in her eyes as the boy continued to shout at her. “THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!!!” Mitsuko wasn’t really one to start crying over the smallest of things but right now she had been knocked to the floor, intimidated, yelled at, and now accused of being responsible all whilst her elbow still really hurt very badly. She could feel the tears starting to roll down her cheeks but she didn’t want this kid to see them, as quickly as she could she rose to her feet and turned to run as fast as she could. “Aaaaaye’m teeeeyeeeeellliiiinnnnnn’!!!!” She sobbed as she ran, still holding onto her elbow as tightly as possible to try and desperately stop it from hurting. Uh. Ack. He froze on the spot, his hands outstretched unable to go down no matter how much he told it to effing stop pointing at her. He didn't expect her to be so break so easily like that, since staying here made him used to the fact that everyone here are tough and rough, and won't bawl over something small such as being pushed to the ground. Of course, it's not like he thought being pushed to the ground is a small matter, but apparently to the girl it's a really big matter. He couldn't move much as he continued staring at her running figure getting smaller and smaller as she travels through the hallway. For some reason there was a certain something welling up inside him threatening to explode from the inside, sending millions and millions pieces of his heart flying everywhere. Almost like he had just swallowed a grenade. He's not familiar, heck, one could say he had never felt anything as powerful as this before. This feeling was darker, heavier, even more pressurizing than being cursed and haunted by dark evil spirits. Is this what they call guilt? He clenched his fist tight, gritting his teeth as he refrained from going after her. Why should he? It's her fault after all. She used the public phone for more than five minutes, and that is clearly a massive violation of his own made-up rule. Criminals receive no mercy, and this one deserves the same. None he had let go without giving them a few dozens broken bones in return. But somehow, it feels far too painful to see her running away from him with tears rolling down her cheek like some overflowing bucket or something. He kept on convincing himself that she was the one who started this, but at the same time he couldn't help but feel like he had gone overboard. Something that he had NEVER ONCE in his life felt. ...OH ALRIGHT ALREADY!!! He couldn't stand it. Throwing the handset to the ground he rushed along the path she took, determined to catch up to her. It wasn't a hard feat, considering she hadn't actually been going that fast, and he's about three times stronger than any normal human. Also meaning that he can go about three times faster than any normal human. Also meaning that it didn't take him long to catch up to her. "Hey, HEY! Hold up!!!" The moment she's within arm's reach his hand shot out, grasping her shoulder to attract her attention. And more importantly to stop her from running away again. "Dammit, I said hold up, will you!" Though the tone was harsh and cold, it did not contain any sense of malice or hostility in it, vastly different from his usual everyday speech. |

Mitsuko was heading towards the exit of Yuki house dormitories, she could just about remember where the teachers lounge was so she was running as fast as she could in that general direction. She didn’t really know what she was going to say when she got there, Mitsuko wasn’t really thinking at all right now so she was more or less living in the moment, all she knew was that her elbow really hurt and that she was both scared and incredibly upset about what had just happened. The teachers here would do something about it, so this was what she was doing. Before she could get to the exit however she heard the sound of that boy behind, her. “Hey, HEY! Hold up!!!” Still yelling, and so close. Mitsuko flinched as she heard this to try and avoid him but she definitely wasn’t fast enough to stop him from grabbing hold of her shoulder, especially as she wasn’t looking him at the time. Another jolt of pain shot up her arm as the boy yanked her shoulder back, forcing her hand to pull back with it, and with that her hand pulled at her elbow, the cause of her pain in the first place. Mitsuko gave out a shrill yelp of pain and stopped dead in her tracks as the boy yelled at her to stop running. That was the last thing Mitsuko wanted to do though, she was an incredibly stubborn person when it came to forming opinions on people, and especially hated being told what to do, so when the boy yelled stop her natural reaction was to try and keep running. However, being held by the shoulder she wasn’t going anywhere. “Leeyitmii geyyoohhh!” She shouted, thrashing about to try and wiggle out of his grip but the pain in her elbow prevented her from moving too much. Realising that this wasn’t going to work very quickly Mitsuko released her elbow and span around on the spot, raising her right hand up high into the air and bringing it down swiftly across the boys face, slapping him sharply. Immediately after she raised her hand once more and brought it down again, this time giving the boy a good whack across the head. Again and again she kept doing this, she wasn’t a skilled warrior but she knew how to hit someone repeatedly to make them let go of her, even if they were only quick smacks across his face and chest. “Geyoohhh eyaweyaaaay!!” She continued to shriek as she continued to hit him as hard as she could, trying as hard as she could to get him to release her. The first hit was enough to send some serious shock through him, immediately forcing him to let her go. But the second and the third one and many more after that was probably taking it too far. Or maybe not. Maybe those stinging bee-like hits and slaps across his face and torso was the very thing he deserved for making her cry like that, the very thing he needed to get this blasted heavy feelings off from his chest. ...OH SCREW THIS. As one of her hand shot up to his face, he raised his own hand up, grabbing her wrist before it managed to make another palm-shaped mark on his cheek. Another one of her hand went for his midriff, and his other hand grabbed it as well. It's vital to make sure she pays attention to this, because- "I'M SORRY, ALRIGHT?!" He said loudly, just to get the point across her heavy Osaka whining and whimpering. he let her hands go a few seconds later, muttering with a dejected voice, "Tch... I... I might have gone a bit too far..." How much it burns his mouth to say that, you don't wanna know. |

Mitsuko was still a little bit scared after what had just happened, usually it was when she was brought to tears or enraged that she became her strongest and most confident, but even that wasn’t enough to give her the strength to break free of this boy’s grip. She flinched and curled her body up a little bit as she heard him yell at her again, though it was an apology, so did this mean that he wasn’t going to do anything else? Mitsuko was to upset to think clearly so she just kept still when he let her go, tears were still dripping down her face but at least she was starting to calm down. “Tch.. I.. I might have gone a bit too far..” It took a while for Mitsuko to do anything after this, she still kept in her slightly curled cowering position, with her hands defensively up against her chest. She sniffed a few times, she hadn’t completely stopped crying yet but she had calmed down to the point that she was thinking clearly. This guy had knocked her to the floor, and yelled at her, and accused her of being the one at fault, not to mention the yelling, so now he was apologising. This meant that he was sorry? Or did it mean that he was just trying to stop her from telling the teachers on him? It didn’t really matter, at least he wasn’t yelling at her anymore. Suddenly another jolt of pain caused Mitsuko to flinch slightly, she slowly reached up and began rubbing her elbow again, the pain was worse now that she had been using her arm to hit the boy, but in the heat of the moment the pain had subsided slightly. Now that the adrenaline had left her system she was feeling the damage again. “mai yurm herts..” She whimpered, unable to say anything else as she held back the tears. Awh, man. Did she just broke her arm? He thought guiltily as his eyes traveled over to the girls elbow. He hadn't actually intended on pushing her down to the floor like that. It just sort of happened. Kinda like how you're running through a crowd, you're bound to hit someone, right? He chewed on his tongue, contemplating on what he should do. He could just leave her here. He did apologize to her, right? But somehow that doesn't look like it would go well with the situation. ...Oh, fine, fine. He turned around, lowering his hood and tucking his hands into his pocket. He began to stride away from her. One big step, two big step, before he stopped. He turned his head, eying the girl with a look of impatience and said, "What are you waiting for? We're going to the infirmary," The tone this time was strangely soft and controlled, albeit still slightly cold to the touch. Either way, it sounded way too unnatural, even to his own ears. And he sincerely hoped that this would be the first and the last time he's ever going to use this tone. |

Mitsuko was still quite upset so when he started walking away from her she really didn’t know what to think, was he just going to leave her there? It was good because then she wouldn’t be scared of him anymore but it left her not knowing what she was going to do, the whole situation made her feel just a little bit helpless. So when he turned around to face her again she flinched in surprise, only to be told that she was apparently going to the infirmary. The infirmary? Yeah that was where people usually went when they were hurt. Mitsuko hadn’t been at the school very long and hadn’t even been given a tour around so that she could find out all the important places, not that she’d want to be given a tour, perhaps maybe just given a map with some of the locations marked down so she could read it in her own time. Then again though, she probably wouldn’t have been bothered to memorise all these locations anyway. Mitsuko stepped forwards and began walking after the boy, keeping silent with her hand still clutching her left elbow, even though holding it didn’t really make her arm feel any better. It did stop her arm from moving though, which was what was causing her the pain, so it helped a little in that regard. “eyohkay..” She replied quietly. She had finally stopped crying but was still sniffling some, and her face was red so it still looked as if she had been crying earlier. As she walked Mitsuko thought about her arm, wondering what had happened to make it hurt so much. She had fallen on it quite hard but it wasn’t broken, as she’d used her arm earlier to whack that boy across the head. She knew she shouldn’t think about it, so she decided to just keep quiet and follow the boy to the infirmary, though she kept a good few paces behind him all the while. |

The whole trip to the infirmary was quiet, as he led her across the school ground, up the stairs, along a few hallways, around the corner, passing a few classes and finally they reached their destination. It was a grueling task indeed, having to take a road he had never took before, not because he wanted it, but because someone else had him do it. Sure, it was voluntary, but it didn't make it any less annoying. He had to do it, though, since not doing so might as well leave him with a strange emotional scar that could take months to heal. Which was an alien realm for him, since most of the things he felt would usually subside in a few days at most. Sometimes, when he thought he had gone overboard in messing around with someone, the guilty feeling would only last for about a few hours before he gets back on the swing of things. He doesn't learn much moral values, to be honest. "There. Get in there," He said, cocking his head sideways motioning her to enter, opening the door for her in the process. |

Mitsuko was keeping as quiet as possible as she followed the boy River across the school and towards the infirmary, still cradling her arm so to stop it from moving. When they reached the infirmary she was surprised with how quickly it had taken them, after all she really had no idea where it was but hadn’t expected it to be so close. Mitsuko began to worry slightly, maybe her arm was broken, maybe she needed to wear a cast, or maybe she’d have to have it amputated. Well the last thought was a little bit silly but so was everything else in this school, besides if this school was all based on magic and special powers then maybe the infirmary was just as crazed within. Perhaps they used magic to heal wounds, which would make fixing her arm pretty easy, but if that were the case why hadn’t such a method been implemented across the rest of the world. Suddenly Mitsuko realised that she had been standing in front of the door in silence for a brief period, making her jump suddenly as she remembered that that scary kid was still waiting for her to go inside. After bowing slightly Mitsuko hurried inside, though she did so with her eyes closed, too nervous at the thought of what she’d find inside to look quite yet. She didn't really like hospitals or anything of that sort back in Osaka, so she just knew she'd loath the infirmary in this school. |

Upon entering she would see a nurse busy tending another patient in the room. The infirmary looked pretty much just like any other infirmary would look like. Nothing too extravagant, save for a computer for the nurse's use. There were five beds arranged in a row at the left side of the room, one of them had a curtain drawn over it hiding it's occupant. At the far right side of the room was the nurse's desk, topped with said computer, behind it an empty chair. Empty, seeing as she was tending said patient. Looking closer one would find that the patient, who turned out to be a girl around fifteen sobbing slightly. She had her left leg jutted out in front of her, with her ankle bent in an awkward angle. "Now, just hold still. This won't take long," The nurse said, with her hand over the girl's ankle. She closed her eyes, her mouth moving slightly, muttering a few choice words that can't be heard by anyone other than herself. Suddenly there was a flash of bright light. The girl who sprained her ankle gasped slightly as the lights engulfed her foot. At first she felt some prickly feelings running down her foot, but it didn't last long as it subsides alongside with the dimming light. One second later, when she had a look at her foot, it was as good as new, and she felt no pain whatsoever. "Welp!" the nurse smiled as she patted her thigh, "That's that. Now get back to class, you," She jokingly ordered her around, laughing slightly as she did. The girl bounded off from the bed, put on her socks and her shoes, bowed energetically at- "Thank you, Miss Emery!" -uh... Miss Emery, and darted off from the infirmary with a big grin that reached her ears. And she was left alone in the office, sitting on the bed sighing slightly with a slight smile. "Hm... That girl really doesn't know when to hold back," She commented on the girl that just bolted off. "Welp, time for some-" We would never know what was it that she had in mind before she realized that someone was waiting for her at the door. Of course they'd be looking for her, why else would anyone be here anyway? Unless the, uh... Osaka girl was hoping to visit that poor guy there hidden behind the curtain? Can't be. She looks new, and that guy's been in here since last month. "Well, hello there!" She greeted Mitsuko with a cheery wave. "Well, what's up this time? NO! Wait, wait... don't tell me..." She got up from the bed and strode over to Mitsuko. She had been clinging on her elbow all this time, so she suspected something was wrong there. Without saying anything she gently placed her hand on the broken part. She closed her eyes for a moment before reopening it and said, "Don't you worry, looks like it's just a little bone fracture. I can fix it in a jiffy," She rolled her own sleeves up to her elbows sighed once or twice before, "So. How did this happen?" |

It took a little while for Mitsuko to open her eyes, though as soon as she did they closed swiftly afterwards as she caught glimpse of the girl with the broken ankle. She really didn’t like hospitals, or infirmaries, or the sight of broken bones, why didn’t the nurse keep her behind a curtain or something? It was unfortunate that Mitsuko still had her eyes closed when the nurse fixed the girl’s broken bones, seeing as she missed how completely painless the somewhat magical procedure was. The only thing she noticed was the girl run past her, causing her eyes to snap open, catching sight of the girl as she rushed out of the door and out of her sight down the corridor. Mitsuko stared with a confused daze at this, hadn’t that girl just had a broken foot moments ago? Her experience in this strange place was getting stranger and stranger by the second. When the nurse addressed her Mitsuko jumped in shock, snapped out of her train of thought once again, she really had to stop doing that so often. When the nurse asked her what her problem was Mitsuko wasn’t going to reply, simply due to her nerves, so when the nurse immediately told her not to tell her she sighed a little in relief. This relief didn’t last long though when the nurse held her arm, placing her hand over Mitsuko’s sore elbow. Mitsuko was starting to panic a little bit, what was this nurse doing? Why did her arm tingle slightly now? She’d never been through any form of medical exam like this before in her entire life. Then the nurse seemed to know exactly what the problem was, causing Mitsuko to stare back at her with a pretty dumb flabbergasted look on her face. “So, How did this happen?” "Eyum.." Mitsuko squeeked nervously. The question surprised Mitsuko, of course it was a pretty obvious question to ask but she really hadn’t expected it. For a brief second Mitsuko looked behind her, catching a glimpse of the boy River who had knocked her over previously, before moving her head back to look at the nurse again. Should she tell this nurse he’d pushed her? Maybe it would just make him angry again and he’d do something else in anger, Mitsuko didn’t want that. There was also the fact that this boy had shown her the way to the infirmary, and apologised, so did that mean that he was truly sorry? In which case Mitsuko really didn’t want to get him into any trouble, although he probably still deserved it. Besides he could just be protecting himself by helping her, knowing that if he didn’t he’d really be in trouble, or more trouble than he would be in. The decision was a little bit too much for Mitsuko, she just wanted this all to end so she could go back to her room, as there was a really good program she’d been watching that she hoped aired here as well as in Osaka. It was for all of these reasons and thoughts that Mitsuko stayed silent, her head bowed down a little so she didn’t have to look at anyone around her as she tried to ignore the entire situation. |
