The bell had rung, school was over, and she was already here. Hatsune Mizuki, the new girl, just arrived ready for a new school, but of course she was nervous. Luckily her train took longer than excpected so she had the afternoon to look around. Getting her room all prettied up, and already a mess, she wanted to investigate and she was running out of places.

Walking around the school she finally made it to the back of the school. And there was an old church, beautiful in her eyes. She knew that she would spend most of her time here. It was quite, and outside, what not to love?

Opening the large wooden doors, everything was dusty and torn, there was even a hole in the roof that shown sunlight. Mizuki started to hum to herself, thinking of a new song to make. Walking towards the sunlight that slowly faded she stood there in the center of it, and looked around, wondering what to do with the place.

"You couldn't keep quiet now, can you?"

An irritated and largely magnified voice rang through the whole church like someone speaking through a small megaphone. The coldness of the voice was enough to get your hair stand on end, but the nonchalance and dullness of it negated all the terrifying effect it's supposed to give away. So in the end, it's just a normal dialog echoing through the whole chamber.

At first there was absolutely no way for anyone to pinpoint the source of the voice. But they wouldn't have to, as a silvery haired boy wearing a hooded sweater rose from one of the benches, scratching his head and yawning, big and obvious. Of course, a sleeping person shouldn't be woken up by a small humming like that, but just for the sake of it, he woke up. Ignore the details, since it's largely unimportant.

The hooded boy rubbed his eyes once before turning around on his seat, noticing a girl who had just entered the compound. So annoying... and just when he had found a good place to take a nap too. The whole church was quiet, serene. There was a heavy atmosphere that seems to push down on his spirit, but that didn't bother him much. For all he knows, as long as it's quiet, anything goes. "You couldn't have picked a worse time to be annoying," He muttered darkly, with a tone that highly signifies his intention to kill. But right now, his lethargic body doesn't feel like moving much. Be glad, girl. You are spared from the wrath of The Raging River.

"Huh?" She quickly turned and looked at the boy. She was a little startled but she knew she had to stand her ground no matter what. "I'm sorry if this is your quiet place." She spoke kindly and softly. "I'm sorry for interupting." She bowed her head, her long black hair touching the ground, and some dust ws startled from it's resting place. Lifting her head up she looked at the boy.

But she was alittle nervous. She was wondering if every one was like this, or he was different. Now she was at a point of what to do, or what to say. 'Maybe I should jsut leave.' SHe wondered in her head. But she didn't want to leave. 'Maybe this could be my new friend?' She thought cheerfully, even though he seemed a little evil.

He gave one small humph, shooting her a single bored glance before dropping on his back again, lying on the bench with his hands behind his head. Really, he's just not in the mood to do anything anymore. This place was supposed to be the holy grail, a gold mine for him who has been living all his life surrounded by normal peoples. But ever since he moved here, everything that's abnormal is normal, and it takes the thrill out of everything.

He sighed once more, suddenly feeling nostalgic about the normal environment he used to have. That time, he was unique, he was awesome, he was the most powerful. People fear him as the Raging River. Everywhere he goes, they cower in fear, they ran out of his sight, the feeling of being intimidating was, in its own way, highly satisfying.

Of course, most of the description above is pure bullshit and exaggeration formed in his own head. Note the word, 'MOST'.

...Okay, so this is seriously awkward. One lone person being all quiet and not saying anything is good, but two people being together in a single room without saying anything to each other is, somehow weird. Especially when they had begun to interact with each other. Even in a library, people would whisper back and forth after the first conversation-engaging sentence has been uttered, until the librarian decides to kick them out for being so damn noisy. "I'm guessing you're new here. Because you don't seem to know that this place is off-limit to everyone," His voice was full of confidence, never once doubting that he could be wrong.

Of course, one would have to wonder WHY he's here when he knows this place is barred.

The boy looked like he was the "cool" type to Mizuki. Laid back, probably alittle rude, and a litle handsome. She blushed at the thought.

He started talking again. "I'm guessing your new because you don't know that this is off-limits." He spoke rather cold, but not hurtful. For some strange reason it seemed to draw her in more. 'No, stop it! You have no idea who this guy is.' She told herself.

"Than why are you here?" She said hoping to talk longer. She really liked this place, and already she was told to leave. 'And he is kinda cu- No.' She kept thinking, but she couldn't help it.

"Resting my consciousness to alleviate my boredom. Although, it seemed to have the opposite effect," He purposely said in such sophisticated tone, simply because he was bored. His voice was dull, droning, and generally not interested in anything. So the stories about ghosts residing around the ruined church are just pure bull. He's been waiting for the whole day and all he got was some dusts layering in his hood.

There was a moment of pause, bathing the two in nothing but the crushing weight of silence. It was so quiet, even his long slow breath could be heard, misting over his face. Oh yeah, it's still a bit cold, even if spring was approaching. Sigh...

In one swift motion, he sat upright, inadvertently blowing off his hood. Simple lying down doing nothing, even if it WAS for relaxing, isn't gonna cut it. He was asleep before, but now that he's awake, it's almost impossible for him to go back to the land of slumber. This is seriously boring, he thought, as he got to his feet, stretching his arms behind his back, popping a few joints in the process. Staying here for so long is just not worth it. He turned around, heading straight to the church gate. "Well, I'm leaving. Have fun having this place all to yourself," He said, passing her and ruffling her head in the process, all done out of boredom.

He answered her question and silence took place. Taking in the wrm sunshine she looked up in the hole inthe roof, seeing the sky go red.

"Have fun with place to yourself." He walked over ruffled her hair and started walking away. "Wait! Where are you going?" She blurted out, "Tell me your name atleast." She rushed to his side and looked at him, straight in the eyes, not rudly of course. Sadly she couldn't stop looking, no matter how boring he seemed something shown in his eyes of adventure and escaping boredom, or so she thought.

He blinked slightly as she ran up to him, somewhat surprised by her action. What's not to be surprised, since most people who had met him would be glad to stay away from him, due to his, well... less than unpleasant behavior. This does not warm his hear the slightest, however, as he raised his finger and poked hard on her forehead. "Oioioi... I don't have time to be playing around with little girls like you. Go and play somewhere else. Shoo, shoo..." He stopped at the middle of shooing her away, realizing that he really doesn't actually have anything that could take his time.

He withdrew his hand, scratching the back of his head. "Uh... okay, fine. I don't have anywhere I'm supposed to go," He placed both of his hand behind his head, staring at the hole on the ceiling with mild irritation. "And why the hell do you want to know my name anyway? It's not normal for someone who had just randomly met another to want to know their name,"

He poked her in her forehead and she winced by the sudden touch. "Oioioi... I don't have time playing around with little girls like you. Go and play somewhere else. Shoo, shoo..."He spoke cruely again. Mizuki wasn't offended, well the slightest. She did have simular personality to a 6 year old, but she can act mature too.

Taking his hand away and scratching his head he took back his words "Uh.. okay, fine. I don't have anywhere I'm suppose to go, And why the hell do you want to know my name anyway? It's not normal for someone who had just randomly met another to want to know their name."

"It may notbe normal to you, but it is to me. Plus if I didn't know your name how would I address you, or find again." She replied back, following his line of sight to the hole in the cieling. Walking slowly towards the light she turned around walking slower, her long black hair following her every move.

"Or, is this abnormal, nut now normal to you? And maybe normal life is abnormal?"

Right after she had finished he growled slightly and started walking up towards her. The moment she was within his arms reach he raised his hand up and... WHAM!!! Slammed his knuckle hard and fast on her head. "Realize that you had just indirectly called me a weirdo," Of course, she might not have meant it that way but it irritated him nonetheless.

He strode over to the nearest bench, placing himself on it while pondering about the possibility of a hidden wisdom behind the childish face of hers. Something about the difference between normal and abnormal is not a normal question any normal high school kids might ask. Of course, this place is full of abnormal people, so this might actually be normal after all.

Uh... he's lost.

"Hm... I wonder if you're actually a wise old man in disguise," He muttered audibly so that she could hear it very clearly the teasing tone in his voice. "That's a hard question. Because for all we know, everything could be normal. For one person, something that is considered normal might be abnormal by the others, and something abnormal might be considered normal," He said, lifting his head looking at her. "In the end normality is defined by the person itself. But some may accept a little abnormalities, and some won't. At that point, we do what we think is right," As though realizing something, he massaged his forehead with frustration, muttering, "Tch, I'm contradicting myself,"

He brought his hand down, rubbing his face before saying, "I still don't see why you're so persistent about my-" He stopped suddenly, his mouth slowly turning to a small grin of mischievousness. "Oh... No, nonono... don't tell me..." He looked at her with a sly grin, and said, "... you haven't fallen for me, now, have you?"

She again winced at the pain of his fist against her head. "Realize that you had just indirectly called me a weirdo," Sorry." She whispered rubbing her head. And quickly he moved on to a bench and sat down.

"Hm... I wonder if you're actually a wise old man in disguise. That's a hard question. Because for all we know, everything could be normal. For one person, something that is considered normal might be abnormal by the others, and something abnormal might be considered normal. "In the end normality is defined by the person itself. But some may accept a little abnormalities, and some won't. At that point, we do what we think is right, "Tch, I'm contradicting myself," All this normal abnormal stuff hurt her head even more to a small haed ache, she liked how she said it small and simple.

"I still don't see why you're so persistent about my- He cut himself off as if a lightbuld went out in his barin, as an idea came in. "Oh... No, nonono... don't tell me..." His facily expression reminded Mizuki of the cat in Alcie in Wonderland, and it shocked her. "... you haven't fallen for me, now, have you?"

"No!" She quickly replied, "Why would I like yuo if you are so over protective and, well...harsh." She tried being rude, but she felt guilty inside. Was she following for him? 'No! No,no no!!' Her mind she shock her head trying to say that she didn't.

"Fine you don't have to tell me your name, and I won't tell you mine." She said starting to walk off slowly, hoping he would catch her, but if she had to she would leave, hoping he would see him again.

"Pah. I don't really care anyway. Half of the whole world already hates me," He said, smirking slightly at her reaction which was undoubtedly an act and faked. He's an expert in being a jerk so he knows when someone was truly being an ass or was simply acting. He simply stayed quiet as he listened to her retreating footsteps. There's no reason for him to follow her, so he simply sat there staring into the space in front of him. But-

"Izumi River. Remember the real name of The Raging River," He said loudly, not bothering to look back at her.

"Pah, I don't really care anyway. Half of the whole world hates me." He said as she started walking off, she wanted to ask why but the words didn't seem towant to come out.

Reaching the door she put her hands on the wood, not wanting to leave. "Izumi River. Remeber the real name of the Raging River." He finished. "Izumi River." She echoed him. "Hatsune Mizuki." She replied pushing the door as it creaked open, and she went out the door, slwly closing it with another creak. Putting her whole weight on the door, it closed, and she sank to the floor, not sure what to do. Looking at the sky it was now a deep red.

"You students aren't supposed to be here," A woman's voice called out from above them. While it was a pleasant-sounding voice, it spoke in a firm and serious tone. If the two of them were to look up, they would find Lavender Smith floating in midair, looking down impassively through the hole in the roof of the church as a downdraft of air swept into the interior of the dilapidated building, blowing leaves and dirt around as the aeromancer slowly descended through the hole, the air currents around her taking on a hazy lavender glow that indicated the winds were under her control as the aeromancer folded her arms across her chest.

"You're glad it was me who found you..." Lavender remarked as the winds died down and the luminescent haze dissipated as she gently touched down upon the floor. "The other teachers might not be as forgiving. And now, what brings you two to an area that's off-limits to students... Izumi River and Hatsune Mizuki?" At least according to the photos in the student roster that was what the two of them were identified as; Lavender looked at the two of them, arms still folded, while the fingers of her left hand drummed gently against her right upper arm, the aeromancer waiting for the students' response.

"It's the best place to relax, since there's no one around," He answered nonchalantly, half-expecting this to happen the first time he set foot across the border dividing the legal and illegal area. As much as he would love to just sit there and ignore her, he knew far too well not to go against any of the teachers in this place, thanks to 'Hero' Tsukasa. Not only that, her figure easily exudes an aura of great authority, easily voicing soundless demand for respect.

Or maybe it's more because he's not in the mood to go around beating people up, quite unlike the time with 'Hero' Tsukasa. "Soo... I guess you want me to leave then," He stood up from his seat, raising his hand to the air in defeat. "Fine, fine, I'm going," He muttered with a small grin on his face as he strode to the door. Well, it's not like he's actually gonna stop for good. He never specifically said that he'd stop going at the forbidden area ever again, right?
