(warning: I hope you don't mind meet-and-greet-type threads...) "Thanks for your help." The deep feminine voice had brought Mike back to reality so suddenly, he almost dropped his hand shovel. With winter almost out of the way, the weather was definitely more tolerable for plant-life, however the days were still very short and sunset had already hit Hyakuji. Even though it was only 5:27PM. To the skinny, long-legged girl, he simply nodded but did not leave the garden bed. "Ahem.." The president of the unofficial gardening club said, "Since our duties are finished, would you like to go and get a warm cup of coffee with me? I know a place Downtown." "Hua-san..." He said calmly, with a hint of sorrow. "I've got other planshh." "Ah.... well... have fun playing catch then, Sempai." She didn't have the look of somebody who had been hurt by rejection, nodding graciously and heading towards the main building while leaving Mike alone with his thoughts and the small garden. Little did he know that the girl he was actually waiting for all this time... had forgotten all about tossing a ball with him... Or perhaps he did know... On his own again, he calmly reached into his bag and pulled out.... A Stanley knife. Edited by bambi, Feb 14 2011, 07:09 AM.

Sarah Blueskies was not having a good time since being enrolled at the school She was finding it genuinely difficult to find some friends. There was that one lovely time when she built a snowman with Erin. But other than that nothing. Her outer school habit of writing some very bizarre stuff in her journal did not help break the social awkwardness. Neither did her late night training with her magical sword She sat on the ground near the main building and stared at her hands “Just once…I would like to make a proper friend….one who could deal with my eccentricities…please?” |

He noticed a girl sitting a bit too close, looking all lonely and talking to her hands. At this, Mike raised a brow, wondering what kind of LSD and hallucinations all these freshmen and sophomores kids were on. Although he was not being watched by her, the tall boy obviously felt a need to conceal the knife. But doing so might arouse suspicion and he didn't want to look like somebody with something to hide. Instead, he calmly stood up and paced over to a nearby tree, nearly hitting his head on one of its lower branches. Reaching his hands up into the foliage, the gargantuan man's arms rummaged around a bit, before cutting loose a.... tiny terracotta wind chime. If this worked, he might be able to get rid of her. Sarah, if she was not so involved with her issues and concerns, would be able to hear giant footsteps coming in her direction. Finally, holding the handmade doohickey over her open palms Mike looked down at her. He didn't smile, although he wasn't frowning either. "Ahm. Could you take this to a bin for me, please?" His voice polite, and slightly muffled by something in his mouth. |

Sarah looked up and stared at this boy. Tall, Nice eyes and clearly two years older than her. She studied his chest very closely (for that was the only part of him that she could see without straining her neck) then she stood up and smiled. She was not as Tall as him but was taller than normal for a girl her age. She took the tiny terracotta wind chime and looked at it closely “It is very pretty are you sure you wish to throw this away?” she asked almost wishing she could keep it for herself. |

He didn't look like he was paying all that much attention to the girl. In fact, Mike didn't even verbally reply to her kind remark. Instead he faced the other away and concealed a small grin under the hand that slid his glasses up the bridge of his nose. Out of habit, he wanted to thank her for the compliment. After all, this was one of the creations he was most proud of, just because of what went into making it, and the reason why it had been put there in the first place. But, it was a small sacrifice to make, in order to get some privacy out in this open feild. Looking back and peering down at the strange girl he finally answered a small but definite, "Yes." The sun was still setting its path into the horizon, however nightfall would creep on them soon. His long shadow parted with Sarah's when he suddenly pocketed his cold hands and stalking back towards his place beside Hua Syaoyan's garden. Edited by bambi, Feb 14 2011, 09:14 AM.

Sarah wasn’t sure what to think of this boy. Was he being this cold for a reason? She wanted to get to know him better and was not picking up on the signals that he wanted to be alone. Sarah sticks her hands inside her pockets pulling out various pieces of papers and other pieces of junk until she had some money. She ran over to Mike and placed the money inside his hands. “If you are going to throw it away. At least allow me to buy it off you. It is too nice to wind up inside a waste bin,” She smiled her big smile as she said this |

It was a shame that girl had followed him. Had he somehow piqued her interest? That thought was absurd. He usually went about his days unnoticed around the school, and it was hard to believe a freshman would approach a senior like him. Let alone grab him and force money into his hand like she just did. Good thing he had safely pocketed the knife earlier. Maybe he wasn't as threatening in appearance as he thought he was. And maybe that's why his freshman roommate was able to kick him out of the dorm with so little dismay. He sadly watched her smile, a wide happy smile, with the urge to mirror her features. However, while wearing the mouthgaurd, it was just not a possibility. Mike realized that this girl was pushy. And he was almost sure that she was trying to get some kind of reaction out of him. Actually, she probably wouldn't even dream of leaving until she got quiet solitary Mike to open up to her. That was the only way women ever were to him, that was the only kind of attention Mike knew. The thing about that approach was, that it worked. "Okay... Then don't throw it away." He said, wondering what use she could possibly have for a cheaply made wind chime. With the money still in his hand, he patted the edges to line them up without counting the amount, and held it out back towards her, "But I can't accept this either." She looked at Mikes eyes and could tell that he was just like her in several ways. She had noticed the knife but felt that he had a reason to keep it quiet so did not ask him about it. She put her hand on her chest and felt her song stone. Inside this stone was the weapon she wanted to keep quiet about. Sarah smiled again and said “Don’t be silly its fine craftsmanship…I kind of like fine craftsmanship…please take the money I would probably spend it on cakes anyway,” She continued to look at him and smiled again. She wanted to know more. She wanted to know his name. However she was taught by her adopted family to introduce yourself first… with the exact same grin she held out her gloved hand and said “My name is Sarah Blueskies, Nice to meet you sir,” |

She wanted to be is friend? Or at least to know him. Why else would anyone want to be on a naming basis with anyone? This was something the struck Mike as strange. However, who was she to know that Mike would be graduating, and leaving the school in as little as two months. "I'm Mike Kim. Fourth year." He replied stiffly. There was not much he could think of saying to her that could wipe that smile off her face. Not that it made her look silly or anything. He just couldn't imagine why anybody would be so happy to just be talking to him. Of course, her behavior reminded him exactly of a girl that he knew too well... And that probably wasn't a good thing. Seeming hesitant at first, he eventually reached out and shook her waiting hand twice, trying not to squeeze harder than she was. "You've come from far away." He observed. Her name, her introduction, the bold way in which she carried herself. It wasn't Japanese and that was something that our American friend had gotten too used to. Pulling out of her gloved shake, Sarah would soon realize that he had left the money there in her hand, and would most likely drop it all if she wasn't paying attention. Outwardly, he seemed cool and calm, with a faint smile on his face even though the corners of his lips were flat. Inside though, he was practically begging her to take the money, the wind chime, and get home before it got too dark. "Enjoy your cakes, I guess." |

Sarah’s smile turned very dark for almost a second “it’s a made up name I have no idea what my real name is or where I came from…“ Her smile brightened again as soon as she got away from that very touchy subject. “Forth year so you will be graduating soon. I would very much like to make your last two months as fun as possible Mike!” She took away her hand and spotted the money inside it. “Can I at least repay you with a song before it gets too dark. Not that I am scared or anything…I can hold my own against anything,” she moves closer to Mike and whispers “I have a weapon…don’t tell the teachers!” |

He visibly relaxed and his features softened a bit, but only out of sympathy for the poor lady. It was not because what she just revealed to him -- That her own origin was a mystery even to her, (even though that would be a hard issue to deal with on your own.) No, he was feeling a bit sad for her because of the way she tried to convince herself and others that everything was fine by acting happy. With Sarah, the sudden change in attitude just seemed forced now. Mike leaned his ear down slightly to meet her overly excited whisper, and nodded calmly while processing the information she'd just shared. How she managed to get a weapon into the school was a mystery to him. He had heard rumors that the principle was a powerful psychic after all. Or was it one of the teachers? Or perhaps it was something the staff started in order to scare the students into not bringing weapons to school. "I see. Well. I hope you don't have to use it." If a situation could be avoided, it was probably best to. He didn't know when she would start singing to him, but the offer alone was enough to cause concern. What if her singing attracted other people's attention. Then he would never finish what he was going to start here. He hushed her, putting a finger an adequate distance from her lips and saying, "Shh." "And it's a nice offer." He said politely, but it was about time he sent her walking. "Sarah-kun. How do you feel about baseball?" Edited by bambi, Feb 14 2011, 11:49 AM.

Sarah sighed and said “I wish I could find some action. I can’t explain it but when I practice with my sword I feel truly happy. The only other time I feel happy is when I talk to people,” She subconsciously grabbed the small stone which hung round her neck and fidgeted with it. Sarah smiled and happily said “Ohh I like baseball, “ |

Practicing with a sword, (a weapon used for impaling people,) and chatting with others, (which some one as awkward as her probably didn't do a lot of to begin with.) Mike's expression seemed uninterested, however he was actually watching her quite closely. Making a few mental notes and assumptions to himself. Then, his eyes caught her fiddling with some jewelry she had. Was she nervous about something? .... or bored more like. "Ah, good." He spoke while bending down on a knee and knocking the snow/dirt off his hand shovel. "Because I'd like you .... to meet a friend." Tak-tak-tak, it sounded while he hit it on the brick ledge. "And it would really help if you knew how to toss a baseball." Although his voice itself was quite clear, every word he spoke had a strange mumble to it. Wiping what little residue remained on the shovel nonchalantly on the side of his slacks, he then bagged the shovel and zipped it up. Turning halfway, he looked up at Sarah with his glasses all the way down to the tip of his nose. "For me... I think that would be a decent way to spend my last days." |

She noticed that Mike had noticed her fumbling with the jewel. “Oh this is where I keep my stuff including my sword,” She touches it a certain way and the hilt of a sword suddenly appeared from it. “Can’t fully take it out due to those no weapon rules and all,” She pushes the hilt back inside the Jewel. She smiled and looked into Mikes eyes “I am pretty good with the baseball. It was one of the first things my adopted father taught me. I don’t like to boast but I could be one heck of a team player in the game,” She moves to his side and asks “Does this school have a team? we would never lose with me on it!” |

"Then I suppose you should try-out next year." Mike answered her ambitious question offhandedly. Truth of the matter was, he was still getting over the surprise of meeting another girl who was also keen on pulling out objects from a region close to her chest. God, he sure knew how to pick em. But Mike was not one to be caught staring at a place where he shouldn't be looking, so instead, he turned away. "Although me and Fuu don't actually play in a team." He said to the grass and rested his elbow on his knee. "It's actually nicer.. Just the two of us." He was starting to feel that he was saying too much. Being as reserved as he was, Mike was never one to frown unless the situation was really disappointing. So that was probably why there was one on his face, right now. He was actually very upset that Sarah had tried to get closer by parking her butt down beside him. He doubted the girl would pick up the hint though. "On a normal day after-school, you can find us at the baseball diamond." He informed, somewhat coldly. It was time for Sarah to leave him be. He turned to her again, this time smiling with his eyes. "So I look forward to seeing you there." Edited by bambi, Feb 15 2011, 01:00 PM.
