Mikeal was walking around the park. He really didn't know what he was doing he didn't even know how he came to this town, he just woke up on the outskirts of the town. He looked around the park it seemed like a suitable place to stay until he could find out what went wrong.

A few people had already talked to him asking is he was new, all of them recieved a simple yes, followed by him instantly leaving, much to their confusion. He didn't feel like he gained anything by talking to those people. So far there weren't that many interesting people in the town.

A raven flew down and landed right on Mikeal's shoulder, he briefly looked at the raven before looking back. Wondering what was going to happen to him, and trying to remember his memories. So he could piece together why he had his own powers and why he was dumped here.

The park bristled with the outskirts of activity. It was still before noon and much of the city was either hiding away in air conditioned offices or tucked behind the high walls of school. Fast approaching midday, the heat of the cloudless sun gave everything a haze. Morning dew still evaporating held the park with a lingering humidity that made it quite uncomfortable for the odd jogger or old couple meandering by. The hot air gave rise to insects, fluttering about to the symphony of bird calls; diving and snitching the insects out of the air.

Towards the centre, Illtist sat quietly on a park bench, just a little off the gravel path that snaked through the green oasis. He'd never understood the need for encasing a grassy patch with looming sky scrapers and grey business districts or shabby red ocha or bottle green and white homesteads. Humans and their constantly dichotomy. One hand wants metal and steam and progress and the other ties itself to trees, denying it's right. But it was amusing to watch them go about their daily business. Illtist found it particularly interesting to view their activities. He took special notice of it here.

Then Illtist spotted something of interest between the aged couples petering along the course gravel walk ways, or the firm figured mothers walking to and fro in the heat in an effort to sustain a youthful beauty they were slowly losing. A new face, unfamiliar to not just the park but the city. In his time after finding Hyakuji from the multiverse, Illtist had taken note of its inhabitants. Now there was a new one. A new element in his Great Experiment. He watched as the raven bearing boy walked about, casting his bewildered gaze about the world.

Mikeal continued onwards walking and looking around the park with the raven continually sitting on his shoulder looking around as if it was a second pair of eyes for him. Suddenly Mikeal ran into someone a rather young muscular man, the man looked down at Mikeal who had fell to the ground and said "Why don't you watch where your going you little punk."

Mikeal looked up at the man he just ran into and replied with no emotion in his voice whatsoever "I'd apologize right now if I were you." His eyes looking completely blank. The man said "You little brat. I'll teach you to disrespect me." Throwing his arm forward towards Mikeal who had just stood up. The raven on Mikeal's shoulder flew off onto a nearby tree to observe the fight.

Mikeal quickly sidestepped the punch and put a hand on the guys stomach quickly muttering "Raven's Bindings." The spell took effect sending a glowing purple chain around the guy as a giant raven's claw surronded the chained man.

Mikeal turned away from the chained man who was trying to break free from the binding but couldn't. He picked up his 'walking stick' and turned it into a dagger, holding it against the mans throat. "See, I could of killed you if I wanted to, do you understand." The binded man slowly nodded, as the bindings disappeared.

The man fell to the ground before standing back up and sprinting away from the boy. Mikeal looked around at all the nearby onlookers who were gasping with suprise. None of it mattered to him, he merely acted in self defence. Suddenly he felt the raven back on his shoulder with it's red eyes looking into his own. Mikeal waited prepared in case any more people were coming to fight him.

How people could so quickly resort to violence was a ceaseless source of entertainment for Illtist. He reclind in his warm little park bench, ready to watch two egos clash. He enjoyed how simple events could start such scraps. But as he adjusted his comfort; something very odd happened. Events moved quickly, a young boy besting the brute who'd challenged him. It wasn't so much the outcome that perked Illtist's interest, but the path it took. Knocking down someone bigger then you was child's play, but shifting from a bewildered face to one of force and self rightous vigor, that was something facinating.

He moved with purpose now. People were beginning to stare at the young boy's altercation; and the results there of, with a growing alarm. Wearing unassuming three quater pants and bazaarly out of character floural shirt, Illtist walked over the gravel path, placing a hand on the boy's shoulder. He spoke loud enough so the onlookers might hear, his foot steps crunching loud enough for the boy to hear the approach and feel unthreatened.

"Now now nephew. I've taught you better then to behave so rudely! Really now, I knew that toy knife was a bad gift idea." He shifted his vocal cords, giving a gruff scratch to his words that seemed warm and elderly. He was offering the child a way out of this situation. At what cost would be determined later.

Mikeal turned and looked at the stranger who had walked up to him and claimed that he was the strangers nephew. Seeing as Mikeal didn't know whether it was true or not he and the raven eyed the man. He was quite tall and despite the oddly coloured hair the man looked quite young at least a lot younger then he was sounding, this made Mikeal a slight bit curious.

Quickly the dagger he was holding turned back into a cane and he placed the end of it on the ground firmly. He felt like he didn't need to keep it in it's dagger form as it was just drawing attention. He looked at Illtist somwhat blankly, trying to pull back a memory to see if he really was related to him to no avail, asides from the one memory of the lady in white he couldn't remember anything.

"I don't know who you are, I don't even know who I am." Mikeal said quietly so only Illtist would here. "But I feel like I will have worn out my welcome if I stay much longer, and I don't feel like leaving this town yet." It was said with no emotion, Mikeal didn't really care all that much what this stranger was going to do but he would rather not have to leave the city when he had no clue to who he was or if he had any relatives. The raven looked at Illtist one more time before flying off into a nearby tree, in case this turned into an altercation.

"Then we'd better move away from the slightly paniked crowd you've been attracting, and somewhat more low key then you arrived." Standing next to the boy, Illtist's words were softer now and shifted into his own voice as he spoke like a grammerphone needle finding a groove. He stepped around so his and the boy's backs were to the staring people.

"My name is Illtist Fray; and if memories are your problem, you're fortunous they are my solution." He walked, trusting the young man to do the same and follow him away from the scene of activity; so the interest mite fade in the onlookers. He let go of the child's shoulder, however lightly he'd handled it before. The boy was free to run, or at the very least offered the illusion of freedom so he mite be more co-operative.

In less hushed tones nows, "You strike me as someone with no need for unnessary attention. I also speicalize is situation defusion." Illtist cast a menacing glance back, seeing as a secretly dispatched Remnant darting between members of the onlookers, phasing beneath the ground and snatching from them recent memories still they found themselves staring blankly at the sun bristled park, wondering what had held their interest for so long.

"Okay then, If you can help me then I suppose I'll follow you." Mikeal said as Illtist said that he was good with memories whether this meant powers or some strange mental thing, Mikeal hoped it could help him get his memories back. Illtist seemed like an interesting man anyway so maybe he could help him with a new start in this town.

Mikeal followed Illtist while looking back to see what he meant by situational defusion, as he looked back he saw all the people who had recently been staring at him staring up into the sky. Mikeal dully wondered what Illtist did to them to make them seem to forget what had happened just so little time ago. "That's a useful skill indeed, I'm guessing that you play with memories or something like that." Mikeal said rather dully as he continued foloowing Illtist.

Illtist walked with the boy, though mading certain he was leading their way along the gravel path; crunching beneath their feet under then by now afternoon sun. A sound of course earth punctuated their conversation, covering it from would be listeners. "Something like that indeed. I play and sculpt and rip and dredge." Illtist thought he'd let that one sink in before continuing. This was the first person, besides his disappeared friend Eiji, whom he'd spoken to without first attempting to harvest for memories. He could already see this one was damaged by how he'd been wondering around so glassy eyed earlier.

"I'm something of a researcher." Illtist continued, "A scientist, alchemist and artist. Memories are part of my trade." He decided the boy didn't need to know his full nature just yet, if at all. the concept of an immortal pan-dimensional consciousness seemed a tad heavy for a first meeting. As they continued, the population had begun to thin out, oddly enough as the grew nearer to out of the exit edges of the park. General activity seemed bound to the humidity ripe center, with it's vast shade of trees and duck ponds.

"You mentioned you did not know yourself, but;" and Illtist gestured over to the pitch black bird that had been following the boy, "He seems to know a great deal." Giving a sly look to raven, and a cheshire cat grin.

Mikeal continued walking with Illtist and listened intently as he started explaining what he did, as he explained Mikeal got a feeling that he wasn't deffinetly your ordinary person. He seemed like he wasn't letting everything go but Mikeal wouldn't push on the subject at the current moment. After all it would probably lower his chances of getting his memories back if he constantly annoyed him, and getting his memories back was his first priority deffinetly.

Mikeal looked around as he noticed the amount of people in the park thinning out, that was better much easier to diffuse any possible situations that arose when there were less people. He looked over at the raven that had indeed been following him, it was strange but Illtist was probably right. The bird had shown a strange liking towards Mikeal and his own magic was based around ravens so maybe it knew what happened.

The raven at being notice by Illtist flew and landed on Mikeals shoulder on the farthest side from Illtist, to say the bird didn't like him would be a massive understatement. The bird seemed to extremely dislike Illtist for reasons unknown. "I suppose he might be able to help, to bad he doesn't seem like telling us just yet."

Illtist gave a small grunt on understanding, after the bird had landed on the farthest side of the boy from him. He gave it a nod, as giving it the pleasure of his acknowledgement. From that gesture however, Illtist gained very little. "Things of nature tend to distrusted me." he flashed the grin, his statement more direct at whatever hidden intellegence glemed beneath it's lustery, wide eyes.

Without giving any indication, Illtist's Remnants had been nestling back into his coat; out of phase with the Prime Material world, so as to disturb the boy less then he clearly always was. Yet, as they spoke and walked on in the quieting park, Illtist had one of his wraiths draw up and follow the boy at head level.

"Now, you mite be surprized by this, but I can assure you: don't be." Illtist stopped in on the gravel path and turned, looking directly at the boy, smiling as it seeing an old friend. JUst at the moment, as the course stones crunched beneath his rotating heels, the Remnant collected it's particals and shifted into the real world behind Mikeal and with a clean mastery of a butchery surgeon attempted to plunge it's memory stealing talons into the child.

"Is that because of the way you've treated them in the past, or just an instinct on the part of nature?" Mikeal questioned dully, he didn't really care but he decided that making small talk would probably be the most polite thing to do in the situation he was currently in, he wasn't quite sure what the stranger was like as of yet so he didn't know if it was annoying Illtist or not.

Mikeal wondered where this strange man was taking him to, it didn't seem like he had a direct route in mind. It seemed more or less like he was wondering aimlessly, this bought some curiosty to Mikeal's mind. He would rather go to their destination by the end of the day so he could hurry up and find out how he was going to get his memories back.

As Illtist turned around and talked to him stating a rather strange comment and smiling rather creepily Mikeal had the feeling that something was wrong. The quick caw by the raven in a second afterwards confirmed his suspicion but it was to late to dodge the talons heading towards him.

It was like diving into a half drained fish pond. Filled with murk and a sudden, concrete stop; the Remnant's arms bent outwards as it it had hit a wall somewhere inside the boy's head. There were memories, yes. He'd be feeling the same icy burn other's felt from Illtist's abilities but no matter how sharp those soul rending claws mite be, this child had no deep memories. The wraith squealed with it's hands bucked outwards; looking broken where it not for it's lack of skeletal structure. It's claws withdraw almost as quickly as they had entered.

Illtist didn't expect that. He watched, wide eyed in the reaction. It was impossible for the child to have no memories. Recollections of the past where the crux of his research. As the Remnant flew back to him, it only clutched basic threads of memories. Glimpses, flashes as if it was more a dream then something real. White fangs and a robed woman, a surrounding of leaf green. A forest perhaps? After that, the child only had a name and recent memories. Barely enough to work with.

"Sorry about that, but I could only get a full understand if you weren't aware of it. Now...I think I have some answers for you. Not by much, but more then you would find on your own." Illtist, though not showing it, was thoroughly interested in this. "If you're willing, I'd like to offer you a job."

Despite Mikeal's normal lack of emotion he felt the pain from the Remnant's claws and it made him cringe and yell in pain, it was a strange sensation it was burning him but it felt cold. Mikeal watched as the remanent flew back to Illtist, he formed a ball of purple magic in his hand ready in case it was a fight that Illtist wanted, if so then it would be annoyingly troublesome. Mikeal could tell that he was quite strong.

Then Illtist apologized and explained why he did that. Mikeal still wasn't sure if he trusted him yet but he did release the ball of energy. He kept his guard up though ready to fight if Illtist did indeed want a fight.

Illtist did the most suprising thing then, he offered Mikeal a job and help with his memory problem, hopefully sparing the pain this time round. Mikeal was still curious about his memories so he replied "I still doubt that I can trust you, but I don't have any choice. You seem to be my best bet for regaining my memories, what's the job?." Hopefully it would be something rather easy, Mikeal didn't feel like doing something very hard.

Illtist's lips parted audibly in a great, toothy grin. He didn't think Mikeal could resist such a tempting offer; having felt his desire for the lost memories the boy had. It was all that pushed him onwards. The sun was still high in the sky and distant school bell chimes brought in the new hour.

"Let us say that my work, though of supremely great importance, is slowly gaining disapproval among some of this fair cities residents. " He took a pause, letting pass some young joggers as they charged down beside the stony path he and Mikeal stood on. As the thunder of sneakers against the grass withered, he continued; "my work carrying such a...unique signature it's quite difficult to operate about town." He put his and towards Mikeal, an open palmed invitation. "So I suggest some collaboration. I help you find your woman in white, her beast and all your memories in between and you assist me in my Great Work." The park was clearly now that the runners had taken their separate routes that snaked around the small forested centre.

Illtist hand held out, he spoke clinically. He did not mention how this boy could help in his work; nor did he mention his personal interest in the effects of memory recovery on a human psyche. Just how the connected the two topics where, Illtist himself held an inward laugh at the possibilities.

Mikeal pondered what Illtist has announced as his job. He didn't really explain what his work was, but to be honest Mikeal could care less. All he wanted was his memories and he would do anything to get them, no matter the cost. Mikeal smiled a small bit, he enjoyed the thought he was going to have a hard time if he stayed around town on his own with no memory, or any discernable past.

"I believe we have a deal then, Mister Fray." Mikeal said, he was actually wondering what the great work that Illtist mentioned was. He did however hope that it did not interfere in regaining his memories that much. He shook Illtist's hand, to signify that they had were indeed working together. While Mikeal already observed that Illtist was probably the superior in this partnership he didn't mind that much.

Mikeal's primary goal was finding his memories then finding whoever took his memories and killing them. If helping Illtist with his job would get him closer to whatever happened then Mikeal was more then happy to oblige, besides this way he would get to see some interesting things from what Illtist had been saying. It seemed like a golden opportunity so Mikeal took it.
