Stuff of Legend

"Goodness. Human society is so odd." Haien murmured, stepping out of the changing room. "What about this one?" Haien asked, looking himself over in the mirror. He tugged on the short braid that hung down next to his ear and smiled. Vibrant colors were nice. Almost all of the Fayne wore plain colors, pastels, or black and white. "Tell me, Erin Sansai...are humans a religious species?" He tilted his head to the side, directing his girlish smile at his newfound human friend. He considered his thoughts for a moment, considering whether to ask another question, and considering what it should be. After all....without asking questions, how could a person learn? There were thousands of things you couldn't learn from a book. After all....one of the few books in the library in the Silver City said humans were a barbaric and warlike species. Maybe it was wrong. "And...what kind of jobs would a human man not get caught doing?" |

Erin accepted he-his smile without comment. "Some are. Some are." Erin wondered if he was a religious person. He certainly knew a lot about religions. But he wasn't sure if he really believed any of them. It would probably be easier to put his faith into a religion if he only knew one, wouldn't it? "And no way, no how, would a guy be caught..." Erin trailed off. He'd had examples but none of them really seemed pertinent. A lot of handsome men sold clothes to ladies. A lot of ambiguous men made clothes. Well... The damn diverse society made it hard for him to state his stereotypes without a dozen contradictions popping into his head. Oh he'd just go ahead and say what came to mind. "As a Secretary. Or a Flight Attendant. Or a Nurse. Oh you'll find some men there, but..." Erin smiled slightly. "It's outside of society's expectations." A woman could be a CEO or a Pilot or a Doctor and no one batted an eye, but you turn it around... Erin didn't think he really liked the social commentary his head was going towards, so he turned the conversation around. "What about your people?" |

Haien frowned. "My people...are simple, when it comes to jobs. We don't have a system of currency, and most of us tend to focus on our studies..." He sat down on a stool meant for trying on shoes. "You see...my people are very religious, very spiritual. We share what we have, so that no one is without." He gestured as he spoke, trying to convey the sense of brotherhood that all of the Fayne felt towards each other. "I'll admit that we're a bit...withdrawn. But we tend to our problems our selves, and a problem for one of us, is a problem for all of us. And since my people are all mages, our problems tend to vanish quickly." Haien held up a bag holding several outfits. There was the androgynous one and a dress at the bottom, covered up by his robes and his previous outfit. "I think I have all I need from here." |

"That's good. I'm glad it all worked out for you." Erin said, "I hope we meet again some time." Erin smiled. |

Haien flashed his best smile at Erin. "I'm sure we will, Erin Sansai." |

Erin gave him a hug. It was a small hug. Just a friendly touch. "I'm heading out now." He started on his way out the door. "Until we meet again." And with that he was done for now. He'd talk to this guy again for sure. They could be good friends. |
