"A tied up person is just as capable of sounding an alarm as a conscious one." she said simply "I don't concern myself over my own safety. However, they will have a hostage, and if they lose control, they might simply kill Oliver as an act of spite. In anycase, they will likely all die when we scuttle the submarine."

It was a simple reminder really. A bound and gagged person was still capable of causing enough of a ruckus to get the attention of other people. Someone who'd shuffled off their mortal coil, notsomuch. Even if they could deal with the guards and alarms, there was still a matter of Oliver. He was a hostage, and if all was lost, there was nothing stopping them from lashing out.

Further, in the cold winter water, anyone without survival equipment was essentially going to die. Besides, anyone who survived was going to be rather bitter about it, and just be another bunch of people after them. Not that they already weren't, but it didn't pay to have long term enemies with expertise.

She quieted down when it got to the list of probable opponents. It was nice to get proper intelligence for once, considering how rarely she got it when she'd worked for the organisation, and how rarely it would actually be completely correct. ....Maybe a third of the time on a good month. But then these were the people Oliver had worked with before.

Figured I would post at least this go around before I leave.

Crow sighed as Jameson spoke on them not having to kill. In truth he was happy, but somewhere deep in his heart he regretted Jameson's choice. Crow had built up anger that he wanted to get out, but just as he felt that he wouldn't get a chance. The face of the big guy popped up. Crow's eyes widened as he griped his right arm.

" Hmm so he is still alive. I can't wait to finish things with him....let's just hope he isn't too mad about the burns. I mean he was trying to hurt my boss...." Crow stated as he rubbed the back of his head as Jameson continued the briefing. This mission wouldn't be easy, and there was a slim, but real chance that someone could die.

" I'm with Cherti....to be honest...." Crow stopped mid-sentence as he stared at the woman. He wasn't too sure about her, but she seemed to be here for the long haul. " If they get outa hand, I won't hesitate to snap a neck..." He said as he leaned against the wall.

" Well I'm tired of talking about this....let's bail Olly out so we can get back to having Jameson almost kill us, instead of some group of Super-soliders..."

"Do we really have to kill them?" Jen gazed in Seth's direction as he asked the immortal question, while Oliver struggled against the zip ties that bound his limbs together to give him the resemblance of a hostage. Ah, the implications of being a murderer - but technically they were defending themselves, no? Afterall, they'd threatened to kill the members of the WDA, and more than once they had already acted on it. Moreover, as former black ops agents, their very existence is most likely disavowed by the US government. So even if they died no one will know... or care. However, Chetri made a good point.

Jen nodded at Chetri's statement, and among those present Crow clearly shared the same sentiments, although compared to the silver-haired girl he was clearly more of a blood knight about it. And as the old saying goes, "The only good enemy is a dead one." Clearly, they were better off not taking any chances with enemies like these - the last thing anyone wanted is to have a group of highly-trained and superpowered enemies out for revenge. The lilac-haired girl said nothing, but a nod indicated that she had no questions as Jameson showed the intel on their probable enemies, that she was ready for action.

"Ooo! Jaws looks like a fun one, ya~?" Fuu remarked gleefully, straightening up and walking away from the LCD screen.

Wow now we know so much about them ... Fuu was outwardly grinning.... soon her smile started to fade and she gulped, I wonder how much they know about us???

After rejoining Jen and Crow, the country bumpkin seemed to be on the same 'brain-wave' as her purple haired roommate, in that she was also not keen on letting the Johnson Six tag the WDA back for this stunt.
Crossing her arms and pouting, she appeared troubled by the group's discussion which she understood roughly to be revolving around 'kill or be killed.' Of course, the topic itself wasn't what was bothering her,
"I knew we should have all decided on codenames for everyone... Now they sound so much more ruthless than us." She murmured, again, pacing around the back of the office.

Once Crow restlessly voiced out his eagerness to start the mission, Fuu could only look to a ready and prepared looking Jen and agree,
"Oh yeah~!"

"I want you guys to take the decision of killing someone MORE SERIOUSLY!" Jameson said holding his chest. "Find your own way to fight that you can reconcile in your heart.. it's not something to take lightly.. Every life is precious and we must weigh them equally.. our lives and our enemies life. They all hold equal potential and when you end one you end the possibilities that life held! We've all made mistakes before! Hurt people! Failed people! Met enemies! what if they had killed us then? What if someone had decided we were too much a hassle to keep alive?"

He exhaled with a long sigh. "Well anyhow. This is the basic plan. I'm going to meet the enemy and do the exchange. I obviously can't take weapons or others or else it might reveal my hand. So for now this is farewell." He planted his hands on his sides.

"We'll be waiting for you to start the operation.." Beaumont said with a smile. "Be safe, Oliver.."

"Right right.." He said rubbing his neck with a sigh. "It's not like I intend to die here." He said folding his arms across his chest and smiling weakly. "I'm in it for the long haul."

"OSSU! Okay. This is it WDA. We're parting for now and going into a new place. We may not have a chance to talk again for a while. If you've got something on your chest you'd regret not saying then let's say it now! The battlefield isn't kind enough to give us all final words if this goes south!" He turned to crow and Oliver. "And if something should happen to me then I'll entrust you two to keep this place open.. And to continue finding interesting kids whom need a place like this. Olly's got my detective brain. Crow's got my heart. You two are the ideal combi." He turned planting his fedora on his head and walking out of the room.

"..oi oi Why do I have to share it with that idiot!" Oliver said following him. "That's so unfair!" He stopped at the door, shifting a bit. "This place.. became a lot more interesting when you all showed up. If this is the end for me then... well it was a six month period better than the previous sixteen years combined." He turned smiling. "I guess you're not all so bad." He exhaled. "Well at least Seth, Fuu, and Jen aren't. Aki and Chetri should try to be a bit more appealing and Crow is just ANNYOING." He pointed to the boy glaring. "AS IF I'LL SHARE THIS PLACE WITH YOU." He stormed out slamming the door. He stopped and leaned back against it once he was outside. He closed his eyes and took in a deep breath.

Hopefully they would all still be there when he returned.

One does not simply eat one packet of mee goreng
That was it. That was all that he needed to hear. Everyone should be given the chance to live. He's been dead once, twice, thrice, more than fifty times. He knows just how terrible it feels to die. He doesn't want to die, but even more so, he doesn't want anyone else to suffer the same pain he had to go through.

Lives are important. Everyone only have one chance to stay in this world. Once you're dead, there's no coming back. That's why deaths are so scary. And that's why lives are valuable.

The confident smile of the optimistic boy returned to his face as he made his decision. Find a way to fight that he can reconcile his heart. His way of fighting? No killing. Ever. Because in his mind, everyone deserves a second chance.

"I suppose this is it, huh?" He said, eying the disappearing figure of Jameson and Oliver. "Well, this six months have been fun. Let's just hope we can all still be alive for the next year," He said with a laugh. He turned to Crow, "I'll make sure this family stays," He averted his attention to Fuu. "We need to talk about Mike one of these days," Glanced over to Chetri. "Sorry Chetri, but I'm not an assassin," He spun around facing Jen. "Uh... good luck," Was all he could manage after realizing that they hadn't talked much to know each other that well. And finally, Aki. He didn't want to say anything that could be interpreted as a 'last message' or some sort, because he didn't want it to be like that. But he still couldn't shake the feeling that this might be their last moment together.

...

"If you don't kill them, I will." she all but shrugged, with about as much emotion as if to say 'the crayon is purple'. "The mission is too important for to compromise. In anycase, it's likely they will simply die when the submarine is scuttled, as I said. A quick, quiet death is more merciful than taking your chances in a rapidly sinking vessel during winter."

Dying at sea, she reminded them, was a pretty horrible way to die. Between hypothermia, drowning, or the myriad of other ways the sea tried to kill you, a quick death by having their neck snapped or a bullet into their skulls was generally less horrific. And that's if they escaped. It was also possible they'd merely die aboard, where asphyxiation or starvation were also dangers.

It would be fairly unpleasant for the crew either way, and being killed would be a mercy compared to the horrors that they'd have to deal with if they survived.

Chetri ignored the heartfelt bonding everyone else seemed to be have. She didn't share the same sentiments any of them did as a family. Not yet at least.

It was hard enough to relate to their reluctance to kill people they fought. As she'd been raised, she'd been taught that people in battle had a responsibility to look after themselves. If they failed in that duty, it was their fault, not the fault of the person who killed them. And when it came to fighting, you did what you could to maximise your own side's chances, because the other side would be doing the same thing.

She opened up the bag, and pulled out several pistols, before laying them on the desk. They were older, Walther Pocket pistolen types, with large attachments screwed on to the barrel. Suppressors. They were chambered for the 9x19mm Luger Parabellum cartridge, and there was one for each of them (except Fuu), and Chetri set several spare magazines on the tables with them each.

"Remember, these are not completely silent." she reminded them "There is no such thing as a perfectly quiet weapon, but these are sufficient that the noise will probably be lost amidst the machinery noise of a submarine, but don't take chances and don't fire uselessly."

She'd long learned from her time among the PRF that media never EVER portrayed a suppressor correctly, and made them seem like magic that made the loudest bang into a little 'fwip'. If only it were that convenient, she wouldn't have had to spend years learning how to kill people quietly. But no, physics was a bother like that, and merely turned the loud bang into a rather less loud bang, enough that you had a hard time discerning where it was from or how far it was.

Crow watched as Jameson gave his speech about taking another life. For Crow this wouldn't be the first time, and considering that he would be forced to take one before he gets sent to hell. But one thing he was sure of. Jameson was a great public speaker, hell the guy had enough charisma to stop a world war.

" Fine boss! I won't snap a neck....but I may get rough with em..." He spoke as he smiled at Jameson, giving him Jameson's copy-writed smile, and thumbs up, yea it was cheesy, but Crow didn't feel that this mission would be dangerous. That was until Jameson gave the order about who was to run the WDA if he died.

Crow felt a slight pain in his chest from where his heart should have been. Was Jameson serious? Did he really want Crow and Oliver to run the place? Crow blinked as Jameson left the room, he didn't have anything to say, the whole thing shocked him. Jameson was the heart, and soul of the WDA, and now he was asking Oliver, and Crow to do the same. Was this what Crow wanted? A reason to fight to stay in this world.

What Jameson said about saying goodbyes was something that Crow didn't quite understand. He knew nobody would die, but just in case.

" This family is strong Seth...we are all coming back so don't worry." He said with a smile as he turned to Fuu.

" Fuu.....stay out of trouble ok?.....Jen if something happens to me...watch over her...she has a habit of getting into messes that she can't handle....that and...well you know her personality....." Crow said with a smile as he received the gun from Cherti.
" Well time to get to work. WDA.....move out!...." He said as he left the room, he snickered as he left everyone. " Hehe I could get used to that."

"Good luck to you too, Seth-kun," Jen replied with a smile. "Anyhow, Chetri's right - even if we don't kill them they'd most likely die when we scuttle their vessel. And God, I don't want to imagine braving the frigid waters off the coast of Japan inside a sinking vessel... goes to show just how terrible it is." The lilac-haired girl made a crumpled expression with her face. Indeed, a quick death from either a gunshot or a broken neck would've been far more merciful. Meanwhile, Jen eyed the items that Chetri had removed from the bag and laid out upon the desk. Pistols. Walther PPS handguns, chambered for the 9 x 19mm Parabellum cartridge, one for each of them except Fuu.

"Aye, even blasters go 'PEW' when you shoot them - much less slugthrowers..." Jen quipped jokingly as she picked up a handgun, inspecting its cocking slide, trigger and safety and making sure the gun wasn't loaded beforehand and that the chamber was cleared, in an almost professional way that she picked up from various gun hobbyist magazines she'd read in her spare time.

"This family is strong Seth...we are all coming back so don't worry."

"And that we are!" Jen chorused as Crow turned to Fuu, as the lilac-haired girl kept the gun and ammo inside her bag. "You needn't remind me to watch Fuu-chan's back, Crow-san. She's in good hands," Jen replied, giving Crow a wink and a thumbs up. Being her roommate and good friend, Jen was every bit as responsible for ensuring Fuu's safety as Crow - and besides, should any harm befall her friend, how would she be able to face up to Jameson, Crow, Star and herself? As Crow gave the cue to move out, Jen patted Fuu on the shoulder and nudged the village girl gently. "Alright Fuu-chan, let's go. Just remember to follow my lead, okay?"

All the love in the room... was starting to make her palms sweat.

Never has Fuu ever listened this closely to a conversation without interrupting. As members slowly began to leave the cramped darkly lit office, leaving behind their last words and a beating in her soul, Fuu responded to Jen's instructions first with a squinty eyed smile.

"I ... I can feel the bond..." She pointed to her chest, "In my heart!" She said surprised.

Surprised that the day Jameson smacked her on the head with a newspaper had even made an impression on her. He was right! This connection in the room these people shared between their hearts, it truly wasn't imaginary! Even towards the two girls Fuu didn't know very well, "All the best~~! Eheh!" waving giddily to them as she followed Jen's lead out of the office.

~*~
Even outside the office, she was thinking about their parting words...

Skipping closer to catch up to Jen, Fuu put her empty hands behind her back and gazed up at the sky and with a smile she said,

"This might be nicer if we weren't about to die..."

SHORTLY
~~~~~~
As everyone stepped from the building the lights on the WDA office shut down one by one. The building, for the first time in months, was truly empty. The fan over the desk always turning in it's lazy spin slowed to a stop. The papers on the desk ruffled and only half complete lay strewn messily. Dirty dishes piled up in the sink. Clothes strewn about the laundry. Stacks of carefully folded clothes from Chetri's vain attempt at cleaning.
A single filing cabinet stuffed with files to it's limit.
"Well if there's nothing on the agenda for today I'm heading out.. Quinn wanted to meet me for some reason.." He said throwing his bag over his shoulder.
"Do you ever feel.. lonely?"
"..oh for the last time, WE'RE NOT DATIN-"
"no no, I'm not asking about that. I mean... You don't have many friends other than me and it's always so quiet here.." Jameson looked around with a frown. "It feels kinda.. empty.."
If Jameson had known all that he had set in motion with just that thought he might have given pause. But knowing him even after pausing a moment he'd rush right in headfirst anyhow. That was just the sort of person he was.
After 13 major cases, 4 side jobs, one job left unfinished, countless interactions. And a world of memories the moment had come. As the last person stepped away from the darkened building...
The door clicked closed on the office of the WDA. For the last time.
