Now look at that... fix your hair! Seriously, you need to get a haircut sooner or later. These are getting out of hand!

"I'm sorry...! It's just that... there's so much going on lately..."

Urh... Seriously, meeting a girl and not making any preparation to it... what are you, a kid or something?

Eh, of course he is. Why do you think they kept on calling him the kid?

Shuddup.

Staring at a reflection of himself in one of the windows of the ticket booth, he stroked his hair side to side, trying to make it symmetrical. Kinda hard for someone who doesn't use hair gel and was in a time constraint. This is what happens when you woke up thirty minutes later than you intended. In a blind rush to get himself ready he skipped breakfast (again), skipped picking the best clothing he could get for this occasion (not that he had that much choice anyway), and skipped all over Mike who, for some strange reason was sleeping on the floor. He did manage to snag his trench coat he got from Oliver, though. But all in all, he's in his usual black sweater and cargo pants. One could say it's simple and efficient.

Though he's not sure if he's expected to be impressive or not.

He straightened his heat-insulating coat, brushing off the speck of frozen water that landed on his shoulder. There was a slight breeze for today. Cold but not too cold. Winter air whipped his face, messing about his hair that he tried so hard to fix. Usually he's not the type to be bothered by how his hair looked, but for today he just have to look good. First impression, as V constantly reminded him of.

Even with fixing his outer look, however, something inside him still felt uneasy. Nervous, apprehension, scared that things might as well go very wrong. Since this is really the first time he'd been in this sort of situation. He's not sure what to do after she arrives. Where to? When? Which? All six of why, who, how, when, where, and what lingered across his mind. He thought he'd had it, but no. Only now did he realize that his preparation was very, you could say, half-assed.

Don't fret too much about it.

Don't fret? How can he not fret? He's meeting a girl, yo! How can someone not fret about this? This is the perfect time to fret about it!

Sigh... He turned his head towards the clock in the ticket booth.

There's fifteen minutes left before the promised time. His heart is racing and his legs are trembling slightly. This is scary. Should he run? Running away is the natural reaction to a dreaded occurrence. But then again, if he ran away, she's gonna kill him for sure.

Grit your teeth and do it.

Waitwaitwaitwait...

"H-hey, am I late? I tried to get here as quickly as I could, but the bus schedule was sort of off...Seth?"

A voice called from behind him as he'd feel a tap on his shoulder.

Tall picture is tall!

To tell the truth, Aki had never felt so girlish in her entire life but for what was beginning to seem like all the wrong reasons. She'd been fretting mercilessly about this very date ever since Seth had pulled her aside for their little gift exchange. It felt weird enough in the first place, being all private about it like the detective's little get-together wasn't intimate enough for their exchange or something. It was her own damn fault for being all coy about her present and trying to tease him with it. Now Aki was certain he'd got some kind of damn idea in his head! Of course, if he planned on asking her to go here with him in the first place, he must have already had some kind of idea. He'd bought the tickets even before that night though so he took her home even knowing how he might have felt.

Gah! It was all so friggin' complicated! This is kind of shit Oliver was good at, not her! She'd be damned if she was going to go to his smug ass for advice though, the last thing Aki needed to give him was something to lord over her like that. And it was that kind of round and round thinking without accomplishing anything sort of deal that had been circulating in her brain for the past few days before the weekend hit. At which time it'd only gotten worse. After all that, with little success through introspection and deciding that she really was hopeless when it came to "real" dates and not the kind she usually partook in she decided to just keep it simple. They were still friends, right? And she liked the kid, so it seemed the best thing to do was treat it like that. Two good friends going out and having a good time.

That was more suited to her expertise anyhow and Aki was pretty sure that's how he thought of this anyway. After all, she wasn't a girl or anything to her friends, just one of the guys, right? So, after several hours attempting to make her hair cooperate in some sort of meaningful fashion and failing miserably, she dressed casually and headed out to meet him. Of course, by casual that meant the most feminine outfit she had in her closet. Not that she needed to dress any particular way for a friendly outing. And so here she stood, flashing him a casual, friendly smile and ignoring the butterflies in her stomach as a slight blush touched her cheeks. It was strange, seeing his hair gussied up like it was. Aki couldn't help but wonder if he'd done that for her and if he did, was it obvious she'd picked her outfit out for him?

...Was it mentioned she was wearing lipstick? Though a subtle flesh tone, it was totally there. I'm pretty sure it was mentioned.

Fourteen minutes left. It has only been one minute, but somehow it felt like an hour. Those second hand ticking away felt like a million hammer bashing over his ears. Tick, tock, tick, tock, it goes. He stood there, waiting for her as his mental state was being tortured by the magically magnified sound of the cloc-

Tap, tap. He felt something on his shoulder. Not expecting anything big, he turned around and-

Ack. She's here. Hold on, hold on. That's not fair, appearing out of nowhere just like that. He's not ready yet. She should have given him a head start or something, so that he could, like prepare. But he was caught by surprise, and the moment he turned around his eyes caught her feminine figure. Her slender feminine fingers, her friendly charismatic smile, her bright happy eyes, the unusually frizzly hair of hers, and the first comment he could think of came out from his mouth before he could even consider it. "You look cute," ... Wait, did he just say that?

"Aah-... Right, yes... uh, no, you're quite early actually," He reassured her, glancing over at the clock again. Thirteen minutes before the promised time. "I thought you'd be here on time, or something..." He's seriously glad he decided to come early. Who knows what would happen had he decided to be on time. His death would be on time too, he supposed. "Eh... glad you could make it," He said, smiling meekly, scratching at the back of his head. ... Great, now what? He can't just leave it at that, it's too awkward. C'mon, think of something...

...Can't. he's stumped.

Aki's head tilted slightly as his face seemed to open up at the sight of her. What the hell was the guy doing giving her a look like that for? She averted her eyes somewhat to try and ignore the slack-jawed and awed expression in his eyes, but to little avail as his voice came out of his throat in a cute, squeaky confession. "W-what?" The hell? She wasn't cute and even if she was how could you just say something like that someone so abruptly? Strangely, Aki couldn't help but think that even if he meant it, it only made her want to hit him harder. "Gah, you freakin' idiot..." She mumbled, chewing on her tongue as her expression soured, but her blushing cheeks betrayed her. "Well...you did invite me, so of course I'm gonna show up..what kind of person would I be if I didn't? A-and anyway I wanted to come...cause I hear this park is really cool!" That felt like a believable enough save.

Today was supposed to be about mutually enjoying the park he'd managed to score tickets to and Aki wanted to make sure it wasn't some ploy of his to try and make her look like an idiot and let him flirt with her all he wanted. They were friends and that was just the kind of thing that didn't happen between proper friends. All they needed to do was stay the course and this wouldn't end in pain. For either of them. "Ah, so...yeah, didja have an idea of where to start? This place is a lot bigger than I Expected." She said with a smile. "I like the roller coasters, but I'm also pretty good at the carnival games...I really like the one with the hammer you swing really hard and the bell that goes 'ding!' but I'm game for anything. Eheh..." Aki was starting to realize now just how difficult it would be to shed her tomboyish image. Assuming she wanted to. Not that she needed to, she was just fine the way she was. Who wanted to hang around with some fluffy and delicate giggling priss anyhow?

...Ugh, Seth probably would. Fucksticks.

He stared at her look of disbelief and surprise for few moments before holding up his hand to his mouth to suppress the incoming chuckle. Yup, she really is cute, thought Seth, who was somehow glad the words got out from his mind. Somehow it reminded him vaguely of the time when he stumbled upon a tap-dancing girl at the backside of the school. Eh, didn't he thought the girl was cute too? Anyway, he cleared his throat a bit before saying, "Yeah, it really is cool. I've been here once with Leo, Ayato and Anna, but just once isn't enough. And, well... thought you might want to check it out, so... Ahem. Merry Christmas," He finished waving his hand towards the giant entrance of the theme park.

He felt slightly more relaxed now that they've exchanged a few words. Somehow the awkwardness from before have been siphoned away with her jabbering excitedly about where she wanted to go, eliciting even more suppressed laughter from him. Instead of stopping after asking him where they should start first, she immediately made her to-do list clearly known, albeit indirectly. "If that's the case then we can save the roller coaster and bell, uh... 'Ding-ing!' for last," He said, swallowing down the urge to continue chuckling. "Well then, no use standing around here if we want to try everything out,"

He motioned her towards the gate as he passed the tickets to the guy manning the entrance (a different guy from whom he remembered last time he was here). Once through, he was once again greeted by the familiar but different sight from last time. There were still the happy smiling lauging faces of people from all age range, there were still those dancing mascots scaring the crap out of babies, but what's different is that the whole place is covered in a blanket of white fluffy snow, which made him wonder just how much those people in the mascot costume are thoroughly enjoying the warmth inside their furry outfit.

Speaking of warm...

Seth had been glancing around looking for something and it looks like he found what he was looking for, as he made his way towards one of the stall after saying, "Wait here," to Aki. He's not gone for long, though, as he came back just a few seconds after a minute, bringing with him two steaming paper cup full to the brim of hot chocolate. "Here, thought you might want to warm up a bit," He said, handing her one of it.

Aki's lip curled up in a sort of mixture of curiosity and disappointment. Who were these other people he'd been here with before? And a girl, was it someone he'd dated? Frankly she wouldn't put it past him to find one thing that worked and just reuse it every time he had a new girl to impress. Of course she had an ever harder imagining Seth ankling down the boardwalk like some Randolph Scott wannabe breaking hearts left and right. Actually now that she thought about it, she didn't really know much about him outside of their WDA work. They rarely hung out on their own and she'd never met any of his other friends. Maybe she wasn't close enough to him for stuff like that. Maybe this was precisely the best time to start getting close enough for that! Progress is the essence of true friendship, a friendship that stagnates is a disappointment in the eyes of God! Oh for crying out loud, had she really been hanging around Jameson enough to come up with that offhand?

They made their way into the complex with relative ease with the exception of Seth seeming to have issues stifling his desire to tease her. Or maybe he just wanted to get a hundred pound noogie rubbed into his scalp. Aki had never really put the possibility of those kinds of tendencies past him the way he flirted with death all the time. She followed him quietly to the ticket counter with only a few people waiting ahead of them. It didn't look too packed, but winter was rarely the busy season for a place like this. She'd never seen the appeal of walking up and down all this blacktop in the middle of summer though, it was pretty unbearable after a few hours. Then they charge you up and down for drinks and stuff to keep you from keeling over, what a racket. Seth seemed to have different feelings towards it if he needed a second trip.

It wasn't like he was wrong or anything, this sort of a frivolity was usually right up her alley but for some reason with all the kids and families and sever lack of alcohol, places like this usually made her depressed. However, she couldn't help but smile as Seth placed the warm drink in her hands. If there was anything she'd been learning since joining the WDA it was that friends and family were a pretty classy thing to have around. When they were like these guys anyhow. Staring into the steaming liquid for a moment, she smiled a little wider before indulging in a sip and opening her eyes wide as she set it back down. "Mmm, that's pretty good! I don't think I even remember the last time I had hot chocolate, y'know? It seems like such kid stuff..." Not that adding Jack Daniels to every drink makes them all adult drinks. Clutching the paper cup a little tighter she turned and looked at Seth seriously for a moment.

"Hey, I just gotta ask one thing seriously for a sec and I hope you don't take this the wrong way..." Aki looked back down into the cup and took another sip before turning back to him. "This whole thing...it ain't some kinda crappy joke, right? I mean, I know we're friends and everything...just, ugh..." Well that sounded pretty crappy in and of itself. "I guess what I'm trying to say is, you really like me don'tcha? It doesn't have to be anything serious, but like we're really friends right? Like the other people you brought here..." Aki stared at him apprehensively, but well and truly seriously; as if something really hung in the balance depending on his answer. It was something that had been bugging her for awhile and if he was stringing her along that was fine as long as he came clean about it. She'd been played for a sucker before, it was just something people did. Sure it was crappy, but Seth wouldn't be a bad person for doing what just came naturally to people. People were just like that...

"Eh?"

Now that was sudden. Her question struck him almost like a lightning bolt. Well, it didnt have the intensity of one, but the abruptness of it was akin to one. It was like when you were busy having fun playing a first-person shooter game, then someone came up suddenly behind you and asks, "Is it fun to kill people?" The question was asked in a serious tone, with full intention of getting some damn-good honest answer. However the one who was playing thought that the question was referred to the game, and would nonchalantly answer, "Yeah!" You can pretty much imagine what the guy who asked would feel.

Or maybe not. Don't bother. It really doesn't have much to do with what she wanted to know anyway. Which, the answer, to be honest, was quite obvious when he thought about it. Or maybe not. He didn't even have to think about it. "Haah... so you thought I was joking around..." He sighed in mock despair, planting his hands on his sides, chortling slightly before putting on his reassuring smile. "I thought we were already friends since that time at the back of the school. Granted, it's not how I usually make friends, but hey..." He laughed slightly, placing his interlocked fingers behind his head (where did the drink go?) before continuing, "...I like you a lot. Shouldn't that be enough?"

...

Wait.

That sounded kinda...

Oh.

Oh, nono... NONonononNOOO!!!

The moment he realized just how far off it could be interpreted, his face suddenly burned like some hot steam had been poured over his face. Snows around his vicinity could even melt just like that. "Uh... uh, uhm...!" He stammered, his arms flailing about wildly as he desperately glanced around for something to use as an excuse to get out of this strangely awkward situation. For him anyway. He had absolutely no idea what her reaction was, seeing as he was too preoccupied with his own blunder, and the fact that he had just found something to forcibly replace the subject. "Of- of course, WHY ARE WE STILL STANDING AROUND LIKE THIS? Ahahah...! C-come on! Let's go for the, uh... roller coaster! YEAH! Roller coaster!" He said in a strangely high-pitched robotic voice as he began to stride away with his limbs rigid like a mechaloid.

Aki blushed a bit, but remained quiet, her expression one of silent contemplation. He said he liked her a lot... He could still be lying to her, but the only reason she really had to think that was her own self-doubt. He'd gone so far to put himself out here like this, to say something like that and bring her out here so they'd be seen together. Regardless of how he might end up feeling later, she just wanted to enjoy his company for now and if he still liked her by the end of the day that'd be just fine too. Aki couldn't help but feel almost frightened at the prospect of putting herself in such a vulnerable position but if she wouldn't trust Seth then how could she ever expect him to trust her? She took a deep breath and looked up at him with an honest smile. "Okay...Let's try and have a good then, alright? Sorry, I didn't mean to be such a damn buzzkill!" Aki said, giggling a bit as she threw her arm over Seth's stiffly marching shoulder.

"Let's find the biggest baddest roller coaster in this place in this joint and tear it a new one, huh?" Aki took a step away from him and stared down at his hand for a moment before awkwardly snatching it in her own. Her expression went soft and nervous as she looked up at him. "Er, this is...okay, right?" Maybe it was a little fast, but he liked her and that was just the kind of person she was. So obviously the thing to do was just be herself wasn't it?

And yet another surprise attack as she took his hand without so much as a warning, only asking permission after she had done the deed. And to be frank he nearly pulled it off out of shock, but her hand was soft and warm to the touch, completely decimating any feeling of awkwardness he had moments before. The last time they held hands was the time when he had to walk her home, due to being unable to do so herself out of drunkenness. But now she did it with a sane mind, with her own will. "If it's okay to you..." He said, scratching his slightly red cheek and smiling nervously.

Slowly they took a cruise around the amusement park, going around stalls and peoples and mascots alike finding their way towards their first choice of entertainment, the roller coaster. Yeah, he said they should save the best for last, but what's wrong about getting it early? It's not like they had much time, and who knows when else they are going to be able to go out like this again? The tickets were damn expensive (by his financial standards), he's getting not-strangely enough increasingly busy lately, and, there's a possibility that he might as well die tomorrow.

Not that he'd really expect his due-date to be tomorrow for real. He's pretty healthy as of late.

It was pretty calm, peaceful, as the snows crunched under their feet they navigated themselves across the snowy path, guided by the map and the far sight of the roller coaster site that seemed strangely quiet for some reason. Of course, this place is huge, so not being able to hear the customers shrieking their asses off while plunging down the sharp turn should be pretty normal. And he's not complaining about the fact that it's located at the far side of the park. Taking a simple walk around the park, simply enjoying the sights with Aki right next to him was more than enjoyable-

"...Huh?"

OUT OF ORDER
WE ARE SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCES

He stared blankly at the out of order sign just outside the entrance of the roller coaster. His brain felt mushy and the gears seemed to be stuck. "What do you mean..." He blurted silently, the hand holding Aki's tightened slightly out of annoyance, anger, and disappointment, but it never showed on his face. Right... right... he calmed himself down before forcing the gears in his head to move. That's just the roller coaster, right...? "Uh... well... too bad, I guess..." He said, scratching his head slightly, before motioning her around, "Uhm... maybe... maybe we can try..."

---OUT OF ORDER---

---OUT OF ORDER---

---OUT OF ORDER---

~~~~~
He felt like the biggest failure in the world. He sat there on the bench holding his head in despair, letting the falling snow cover his seemingly lifeless figure as he cursed his misfortune endlessly. They had been walking around in circles around the whole park, and with each 'Out of Order' sign he found, he could feel his life force slipping away and finally ripped and torn and shredded to, uh... shreds. "This... is stupid... of all the times, it just had to be today..." He muttered, cursing himself as well for not being able to keep someone he liked entertained. This was supposed to be for her, a time just for her to have some fun. He did everything for this day, just for her... "I can't... even..." He faltered, nearly pulling his hair off out of frustration.
Aki nodded confidently towards Seth. It was definitely okay with her. It was probably the most okay thing ever as a matter of fact. Hand in hand the two of them made their way towards the nearest roller coaster, the snow falling lightly around them as their boots made little side-by-side prints to prove it. However, as they neared the coaster, the line seemed strangely...non-existent. In front of the coaster a shabbily hung sign held the answer. "O-out of order..." she said quietly, attempting to hide her annoyance. Sorry her ass! How sorry could they really be if there wasn't a single goddamn person out here working on the stupid thing?! They should be fixing it, goddammit! "Right! It's okay, let's just go to the next one!" As long as she could keep the flow going, this could still be fun!
Or not.
---------
A cold, visible sigh escaped her blue-ish lips. "All of them, huh?" Aki murmured to herself, sitting with her hands on her knees beside her date. It was difficult not to feel a little awkward, seeing him all messed up like that. If she were any kind of friend, she'd cheer him up, but just how the heck was she supposed to do that? It's not like she was feeling especially great herself. Still, he sounded really broken up over this...just how much did this really mean to him? Aki blushed a little, putting a hand on his hunched over back in an attempt to make him feel a little better at least. "S-Seth..." No, she had to do better than that, that was generic! The park mascot could do better! "Erm..." Frustrated, she puffed out her cheek and slapped a look of resolve on her face. Quickly and firmly standing up, she walked in front of him and folded let her arms hang stiffly and awkwardly at her sides.
"E-enough moping, you idiot! I know neither of us was really expecting things to turn out this way...I..." Aki felt her tirade losing steam, yelling was probably not the solution here like it usually was and she felt a little bad for it already. Still blushing a little, or possibly just cold cheeked, she turned to face away from him and put her hands behind her back. Just gotta be honest, no need to bully him into it, he's not REALLY an idiot. Aki took a deep breath and her body seemed to visibly lighten up. "With all the snow...it's really beautiful out isn't it? Even the amusement park, with so few people here.. It's beautiful in the snow too, right?" Turning back around to face him, a sincere smile spread from pale red cheek to pale red cheek. "Even so, I had... a really great time, okay? Everyone else you took here just got to ride some dumb coasters, I got to hold your hand...and enjoy the ambiance...Just being around you is kind of enough, I guess."
Her smile going down to a smirk, Aki took one of her hands and balled it into a girly fist, using it to lightly bonk Seth on the head. "So don't be such a downer, kay? And if you tell anyone I talked to you like this, I won't be so nice next time, kid." It was difficult to tell whether she was being sincerely threatening or just playful even when she was smiling.
Ah. Right. Of course. Those other people he took here... they were actually brought to risk their life against an army of Shadowborns. From what he could remember they never touched anything other than the haunted house. The dejected face lightened up slightly to become a face of slight apprehension. He was pretty sure he kept collateral damage to a minimum... Well. She doesn't need to know all that.
But still, he couldn't help but think that she might as well be a whole lot stronger than he is. The fact that she's a better fighter than he is is common knowledge, but no. That's not the kind of strong we're talking about. I mean to say, compare both of them now. Seth was sitting there on the bench sulking like a kid who lost his favorite toy in the drain. Well, of course, she might not be feeling that happy herself not being able to hitch a ride in one of those stuff, but that didn't utterly destroy her spirit like it did Seth. And to be cheered up by a girl... feels a bit embarrassing.
Not to say it didn't work. Just when he thought that everything was ruined and that there's no way for them to replace any of the wasted time, she came up, claiming that none had been in vain. She didn't get to ride anything, she had wasted almost half-a-day rounding around the whole place with little achievement whatsoever, she's cold, exhausted, freaking cold, and yet, she still said that the last few hours had been a very enjoyable time. He wasn't sure if she's just saying that to keep him happy or whether that's her real feelings, but...
He scratched slightly at the small part of his head that was knocked. As depressed as he was, he couldn't help but admit that the small unnoticeable amount of time they'd spent together was definitely fun. Just walking around the place, hand in hand with each other, just... enjoying the time as it was, each other's company... there was nothing remarkable, nothing especially, uh... special, about simply walking around and holding hands. There's nothing in it that have anything to do with roller coasters or thrills or adrenaline ride, but for some reason, it just felt... memorable.
"I dunno... It could make for a good bedtime story," He said, giving a small smile of defeat. That was enough for him, too. So long as she said she's happy... yeah. But- "WELL THEN!" All of a sudden, he said loudly, jumping up from the bench as though he just got a new shot of supercharged vigor. "Wanna try out some of those instead?" He said, pointing his thumb over his shoulder at... a shooting range. "It's not as thrilling as a roller coaster but... it's still fun,"
Like hell he's giving up just because of some broken down thrill ride. He'd promised himself, that today, is a special day just for her.
"Tch, bedtime story my butt, I'll be tellin' it at your eulogy ya little punk." Aki smirked, giving him a gentle nudge of her elbow. Her smile took on a slightly more sincere warmth as everything seemed to settle neatly into place. Today was much more about him than she was willing to let on, but since it seemed like her pep-talk was starting to take things would be okay from here. It was pretty funny the things she was suddenly willing to do in order to make the runt smile a little wider now and then. Maybe this was what it meant to really be close to someone? As the excitable Seth leaped from his seat with his new-found energy, Aki jumped to his side to grab his arm and give him a big, cheesy grin.
"Kid, you just suggested yourself into a world of trouble. I'm gonna trash every one of these joints and get the biggest damn stuffed piece of cheap crap they've got!" She announced loudly as she dragged him towards the first booth in question much to the equal excitement of the booth operator who seemed to warmly welcome the couple. "You got a real gun I can use cause without recoil this just won't be fair at all, ya go that mister?" Aki announced as she defiantly pounded a small amount of money in front of him. Grabbing the BB shooting plastic rifle the wannabe gangster held it up to the targets with one hand, a row of ducks rotating back and forth along a track.
Closing one eye she smiled wide before giving a trigger a gentle squeeze...
~~~~~TIME SKIP~~~~~~

Aki angrily pounded another fistful of coins on the table, shaking the booth as she berated the operator with a waggling fist. "Just what kinda cheap carnival tricks are you trying to pull on me with this crap?! One more go, I'll get it for sure this time goddammit! You can't pull this crap I'm a real goddamn citizen goddammit! Highway goddamn robbery now just gimme the goddamn gun! Those freakin' ducks are gonna die!"

~~~~~REAL TIME SKIP~~~~~
Going from booth to booth, they each took their turns at the various games with Aki's record turning out less than impeccable. She managed to break a few glass bowls attempting to toss a plastic ball in the small bowls of water and couldn't catch a single goldfish using those weird paper nets that broke at the slightest hint of moisture. Her basketball shooting skills were fairly tragic and the gun booth operator refused to take any more of her money. However, in the end it was always meant to come down to Aki's signature event: the strong man. Twirling the hammer in her fingers, she stared down menacingly at the target as her body seemed to glow with a menacing aura. The operator of the booth swallowed nervously as he watched on, fearing for his job and possibly his life a little.
~~~~~FINAL TIME SKIP~~~~~~

She did feel kind of bad that she couldn't hold his hand this way, but this seemed the only way to properly carry the damn thing. As they made their way to the exit/entrance of the park, Aki seemed fairly content lugging the giant, pink stuffed bear on her back, happily sighing even at being able to finally get that out of her system. As the gate came in sight, it only then began to hit her that this had to end. Her smile faded a bit and her footsteps slowed little by little to a complete stop. "Seth..." She said quietly. Maybe it was a little childish of her to think this wasn't going to end but it wasn't just that. Were they both being too naive here? The bear slid casually to the snow-covered ground as she turned to face him, a difficult expression making her look more frail than usual.

Aki wasn't sure exactly what to say, but she needed to say something. How could she let him keep doing this not knowing that much about her? It wasn't fair but...maybe it was for the best that she didn't say anything in the first place. She could always cut things off now, on a high note. At least they'd have the memories. Of course she had to admit she was much too selfish for that. Aki smiled weakly, trying to cover up the sudden urge to confess to him like that, knowing full-well this would likely bite them both in ass sometime in the future. Assuming things stayed this nice to begin with of course. It might not be the right thing to do, but didn't they both deserve this time? She certainly did and Seth was a good kid, he didn't need sketchy women messing him up. Except her. She was the only sketchy person allowed to screw with him.

"I...I had a really great time..." At least a little bit of sincerity would cover up her suddenly being so suspicious and melancholy looking. It had been a great time. Amazing, even! The most real fun she'd had in years. You never realized how little you ever felt your own age until you meet someone who acts like it. With all the time she'd spent being forced to grow up, it seemed like she'd really missed a lot. Aki smirked nervously, waiting anxiously for him to say something.

"I wonder if it's the same with a real gun..." He said silently as he stared down the sight of the air rifle he got from the booth operator. Sure, he'd been trained with some real one before, but he was pretty sure this one isn't going to give off as much of a bang and flash. And, fortunately, not that deadly. He's not that confident in handling a Walther PP, but he could probably pull it off with one of these. He stepped aside for a moment as he kept watch on Aki sticking to the Rule of Cool and trained her weapon unprofessionally at the ducks.

~~~~Time Skip~~~~
"Uh... uhm, Aki....! Don't, don't you think you'd had enough...?" His panicky request was drowned by her over-excessive swearing that caused the hands of moms and dads to shoot towards their child's ears to cover them, and glares of incredulity and disgust were all directed towards the duo. And Seth could do nothing but hang his arms at his sides, defeated by her determination on wasting her whole paycheck on shooting down a single mock duck target.
~~~~Time Skip Squared~~~~

As they made their way through all the little game stalls around the entire park, his wallet becomes more and more dangerously thin as the notes in it disappeared one by one with every single booth they visited, mainly because of Aki. But he couldn't have cared less. While this only meant that he had to rummage the trash can for dinner again, the sight of her smile (well, it was mostly frowns) as they literally trashed through all the game stalls the amusement park had to offer is worth more than what his wallet could fit. And her gleeful whoop when she (finally) managed to win a big pink stuffed bear by completely knocking off the bell from the meter was especially priceless.

Of course, it comes with a hefty price, as he dully handed over the compensation fee to the High Striker operator.

Even after all that money spent, even with the prospect of having to eat outdated food for dinner seemingly unavoidable, he couldn't help but grin widely with his hands in his pocket as he walked along with her at her side, trying hard to stifle a laugh every time he glanced around and caught the very out-of-character behavior exhibited by the usually cool and tough Aki. Who wouldn't? This was the same person that once broke his arms, the same person that once threatened to strangle him to death, the very same person that he had to deal with being drunk. And now, look at her. She looked much more like a kid than anyone else he knew. She looked so cute, so very innocent, no one would have guessed that she was a very different person half-a-year ago.

...Wouldn't this be good if it could last forever? For some reason, he thought, there was just no way for anything to last forever. How many times has it been, that he had been in a situation where things might never turn return back to how it was, or stay as it is? He's... probably fine with anything else changing. Probably. Maybe he could handle it, maybe he couldn't. But now, he surely doesn't want this to change. Hanging around with Aki, watching her smile like there's no tomorrow like that, there's so much fun to be had, he doesn't want to throw it all away just because the clock stops for no one. And even if things might as well change one of these days...

"Glad you enjoyed it," It was all he wanted to hear, really. It was the only reason he brought her here in the first place. Well... he got what he wanted as well, spending some quality time with someone he have feelings for. It felt like he was being exploitative, knowing that she's only considered him as a friend and all. But what the heck, is it wrong to have fun with someone you like? He stood there a little, fidgeting for a bit before a gleeful smile cracked on his face. "Sorry about this!" He said cheerfully, as he hopped right next to her, flinging one arm over her shoulder, pulling her close to him as he whipped something out from his coat pocket and brought it up in front of them-

FLASH!

The blinding effect of the surprise flash would clear up soon, revealing, in the outstretched hand of his, a disposable camera he managed to pick up cheap during their booth tour. Now that was... quite daring for someone like him to attempt. Not to mention, the person being dragged into it. He was expecting some serious pounding for doing it so suddenly like that, so that's why he apologized in advance. "Just thought I could... you know, take a picture to remember this," He said, snapping a few more before he's finished. "It was really fun. And I really wanted to treasure this moment. I don't want to forget this," One more snap, and he released her. That in itself was surprising enough for someone who didn't expect it from him, but he's not done with just that. Turning around, he held the camera to her. "You can have it. I have my brain in place of this. Even if I do forgot, V would make sure I remember everything," He said, tapping his head twice with a grin. "I don't think he'd let me forget,"

IZUNAAAA DROP!
Aki smiled and nodded at his acceptance. He definitely seemed to have gotten out from under his raincloud from earlier and if he was happy, that was enough for her. It was nice that one top of that she'd had a blast as well and would definitely remember this fondly. Her smile didn't seem to diminish even as she tilted her slightly. He rummaged in his pockets for a moment as if a cue had gone off in his head. She barely had time to question though as she his hand lunged out of his pocket just as quickly as he lunged at her. "Seth, w-what the hell?!" Aki said, her face contorting into an angry and confused open-mouthed awkward expression before suddenly being blinded by a violent flash.

Naturally, she closed her eyes.

"Ah! What's the matter with you, kid?!" She squatted down, rubbing her eyes violently as mutli-colored shapes swam around in her field of vision. "Geeze, ya could'a given me some warning." standing back up, she giggled a bit before punching him playfully on the shoulder. At least after the first picture she'd managed to force a smile or something, that first probably made looked like...well, all the other drunk pictures of her probably floating around out there. Treasure the memory, huh? Aki had never really felt like spending time with her was something anyone would 'treasure'. Most people didn't even remember it and if they could they probably wouldn't want to. Sure she'd lie to herself and pretend to be cocky but it felt a lot different to be genuinely told something like that.

Maybe that's what made it so darn difficult to believe. "I don't want to forget it either..." She finally said just before he turned around. Her lips parted slightly, feeling a bit taken aback at the sudden gesture. Part of he tried to imagine what those pictures must look like, her face, her hair. It wouldn't be the same street urchin she was used to seeing, would it still feel like her? Aki carefully plucked the camera out of his hand, staring at it for a moment before smiling warmly and placing it gently in her coat pocket. "You little punk..." She said, shaking her head as started walking with him again towards the exit.

Stopping just outside the gate, she looked down at the ground, smiling and blushing slightly. It had been a pretty wonderful day and it really sucked it had to end. Still, she was going to have a lot of memories "I guess...my motorcycle is that way." Her eyes looked up at him coyly as she pointed back towards the parking lot. Aki took a subtle step towards him as her arms folded silently behind her back. Leaning towards him a bit, she gave him a sudden, sly peck on the his cheek, immediately taking a few steps back afterward shaking her finger at him to let him know that was all he was getting for today. "We should follow up on this or something...today was perfect..." She said with a wink before spinning around on her heel and sidling jauntily down the sidewalk.

He didn't need to know yet.

"E-eh?!" He clasped his hands at the spot where her lips made contact, taking a single step back out of surprise and blushing furiously on the spot. That was cheap, really cheap! Surprise attacks are cheap! He could only stammer like a broken radio, watching her make her way towards her mode of transport. Well, sure he's surprised, but he couldn't help but feel like a small part of him was hoping for this to happen. Maybe even expecting it. Who knows?

One thing's for sure though. No one in the park, or maybe anywhere else in the whole world, was as happy as the sixteen year old boy was at the moment. For a few moments the look of incredulity lasted on his face, it slowly transformed into a small smile, and finally a big cheerful grin. Ecstatic would be an understatement. Unable to hold back, he cupped his hands around his mouth and yelled, "LET'S DO THIS AGAIN SOME OTHER TIME!!!"

Looks like that went well.
Said the little meta-virus in his head, giving a small sigh. Too bad you didn't actually tell her how you felt.

"Mm... maybe some other time," He muttered, the grin and blush still on his face as he began skipping merrily back home. "I have all the time I want in the world~"

Hah. Just be sure to do it quick or she'll get stolen by someone.

"You.... don't have to say that..."

And that's the story of two friends hanging out together at an amusement park. It was a short trip, and to be frank, it wasn't really all that flashy and grandiose. But the small amount of time spent together could not even be exchanged for the whole world. The little unforgettable memory, to the sixteen year old kid was... priceless. And as he made his way back to his dormitory room, he thought, and hoped, that there would be more to come in the far unseen future.

The way things are going right now, I just have one thing to say.

It's not gonna end well.
