"It's fine. No harm done." He said, moving to the fridge. He pulled out the can of tomatoes, opening that up. The onions and garlic would be done in no time at all. "Anyways, change of subject time, I guess. How are your other classes going?" He asked, tossing the lid of the tomatoes into the trash can.

Alyssa nodded, picking up the strawberries and placing them in a saucepan. She measured out the sugar, skillfully shaking the sugar in a little bit at a time as she mashed the berries up. While she worked, she kept her eyes and ears open for Damon and Erin, but they seemed to be doing fine. She looked up at Hiroto, who was busy working at the stove. One of the nice things about Cooking class was that she actually allowed her students to talk, as long as she wasn't talking.

"So...just transferred into this school?" she asked almost conversationally, She finished up with the strawberry mix, passing the saucepan to him.

Hiroto took the saucepan from Alyssa, and nodded. "Yes, I haven't been here long, just a few days really. I've more or less gotten lost half the time."

He slowly placed the saucepan on the stove, waiting for it to slowly boil before stirring the mixture. He looked at his watch, and started to count down the minutes till it should be good. He'd keep stirring, often switching hands, while making the sauce look like a yin-yang symbol. He looked at the recipe for a moment, and poured bits of the cornstarch mixture in with the strawberry one. "Is it always hands on in this class?"

"Mostly good..." Erin replied, pouring the onion and garlic mixture over the chicken. As soon as the cheese melted, it would be ready. "I'm beginning to regret taking Gym though...It's a bit too much for me to handle." She admitted with a nervous laugh. She had taken Gym partly because she didn't get enough exercise, but also because she knew it was a class Chizu would be in, and Erin wanted to have at least one class together with her. Unfortunately, they ended up having it in different periods. "Well, at least I know for next year...How have things been for you?"

"Could be better, could be worse." He responded, with a shrug. "Just focusing on doing my best, trying to balance that with the Elemancers and all the other stuff." He said, not wanting to reference Arcadia in public. "Unfortunately, I have to train shadowmancers AND phtomancers....and photomancers always seem to have a screw or two loose." He said, shaking his head. "One of them blew up a bookcase." He said with a small laugh

"Oh no, are the books alright?" Erin said with a worried tone. She did enjoy reading, and she'd feel awful if she heard that an entire bookcase's worth of books had been destroyed. At the very least, she hoped that there were copies of them still existing.

The chicken dish was finally done. Erin set it down on the table, noting "Wow, it looks really good..." She cut off a small piece to try it before moving on to work on the sweet potatoes again, running cold water over them like the directions asked for. The onion was a bit stronger than she expected, but the garlic and cheese far outweighed it. She would have eaten it on the spot if the pie didn't need attending to. "Could you grab the mixer and the other pie stuff please, Damon?" She asked politely while she started peeling the sweet potatoes, "Aah, if I look at that chicken too intently I'll lose my focus..."

"On it." Damon said, already moving to the mixer, unplugging it and brining it to Erin. He placed the butter to the side of it, since that was required first and foremost. He then moved to the other ingredients and measured them out and placing them beside the mixer for when they were needed. "The books were fine, more or less. Still legible, and that's what matters." He said as he worked.

"Sensei, new guy, if you want some of this, we made four servings." He said, extending the offer to the other group. The recipe did make them use four chicken breasts, after all.

"Oh, that's a relief." Erin said, going to work on the filling with the ingredients Damon had given her. The mixer was louder than she expected it to be, and a bit unwieldy, but she managed to get it all together. It was tempting to taste the filling before it went in, but she managed to resist...if just barely. "Now we just need the crust you made..." Erin said, "This pie is gonna be so good~"

"Got it." He said, grabbing the pie tin and bringing it by. The filling went in easily, and it looked about ready. With that, the pie went into the oven, by now properly preheated. "Now for the other half of the waiting game." He said, setting a timer for an hour. This was going to be a much longer wait. But, hey, Pie! Worth the wait, to be sure.

"Yeah," said Alyssa, nodding at Hiroto's question. She looked over at Damon and Erin, but again they seemed to be doing fine, so she watched to make sure that her student didn't burn himself on the stove or do anything that might necessitate a trip to the nurse's office. While she could regenerate almost immediately, she was aware that most people could not. She leaned back, sliding her hands into her back pockets.

"Ain't gonna learn much if we talk about it," she said, slipping into slang for a moment. "Sometimes I'll get everyone together and I'll explain some of the terms or the reasoning behind stuff or whatever, like why you have to make sure to cook eggs or chicken thoroughly so you don't need to get your stomach pumped. But it's mostly hands on work." She turned towards him, grinning slightly. "Don't complain," she said. "What other classes do you have that let you play with your food and eat in class?"

"Other classes.... Um.. I know I have Music and History. Although, I have yet to attend any of them."

He turned the temperature of the stove down, and finished stirring the mixture. He carefully took it off the stove, pouring it over the strawberries that were in the pan. He placed the empty saucepan down, "Now we wait for it to cool, correct?"

He turned the stove off completely now, and placed the saucepan next to the sink. He started to gather up all the empty bowls and dirty utensils, and started to clean them off.

Erin, meanwhile, was grabbing a small plate for her piece of chicken (the one she had already taken a bite out of, of course). "It's a good thing we can stay here for lunch." Erin commented, "Otherwise we probably wouldn't have enough time to make the pie." She sat down at a table, silverware at the ready, before turning to Damon to ask, "Are you eating your chicken right away, Damon?"

"Yeah, just a second." Damon responded to Erin. He set a timer, just to be sure. He didn't want to risk losing track of time while cooking the pie. He grabbed a plate himself, and some utensils, before picking out a piece for himself. This turned out pretty good, he would be able to save his packed lunch for another day. He took a bite, liking how well it turned out. "Mmm...Thus turned out pretty good. Can't wait for the pie." He said, glancing to see how the new kid and the teacher were doing.

You guys are free to go, since the timeline says class is over. Thanks for making this class actually do something/finish.

"The recipe says chill for a few hours," said Alyssa. "So put your name on the dish and put it in one of the fridges. By the time your classes are over, it should be good enough to eat. I'll grade it while you're at your other classes, so just remember to drop by and take it, because if it's still here tomorrow morning, it's coming home with me."

She motioned Hiroto towards the fridges, showing him where to keep the pie. Alyssa moved over to the sink, washing her hands. As she did, she thought through Hiroto's classes. "They actually let you pick both Takamachi and me?" she asked, grinning slightly, almost wolfishly. "You're gonna need that pie."

She looked over at Erin and Damon, then checked her watch. Right on time, as always. "Alright, class dismissed. Make sure you clean up before you leave, and as usual, all sharp pointy cooking implements stay IN the cafeteria, unless you feel like sitting in Skipmo with that poor Chad kid or whatever his name is. You all did well today. If you wanna stick around and eat instead of going to lunch, that's fine, just make sure this place is clean or all of you will be cleaning my apartment on Saturday."

With the class being dismissed, Hiroto wrote his name on the bottom of the pie pan. He placed it in the fridge, and started to gather his things. He was soon back in his trench coat, and had his satchel hanging off his shoulder. "Well see you guys later. I'm off to look around some more."

He placed the last of the empty bowls away, and walked out the door. As soon as he'd gotten out the door, he seemed to vanish. He'd more or less sprinted off, just happy to be done with class.
