Hiroto looked at the teacher, "Ok, I'll get the strawberries togather, and start mashing some of them."

He walked over to the refridgerator, and started to pull out strawberries. He soon had two medium sized bowls filled with them, he thought he had enough to make the pie before walking back to the counter.

When Damon heard Erin respond, he suddenly realized a potential issue with this recipe. "Uh, sure. But there's not really much to do other than prepare the crust, and that was mostly done for us." He said, thinking. Maybe this was the wrong recipe. It meant well near an hour and a half of doing nothing.

"Jeez, this is going to be a lot of sitting and waiting...Maybe we should cook something else while we wait?" He asked. Considering how this class was so close to lunch, it might mean they could pull out something really impressive. If the people in Iron Chef could make full blown feasts in an hour...why not them?

"Oh, that's a wonderful idea!" Erin said, putting her hands together, "Well, since we ended up making my favorite kind of pie, let's make something that you like while we wait for it to cook." She suggests, smiling, "If you could have aaaaany food in the world, what would it be?" After a pause, she added, "Well, any food that we could make in half an hour, anyway."

"Any food in the world?" Damon muttered, not sure on that. He'd eaten EVERYWHERE on the planet and had tried quite a bit of food. He didn't know if he HAD favorites. When Erin narrowed it down even more to 30 minutes, that made things a bit easier. Hrm....well, he liked chicken...Ah!

He moved to an Italian cookbook, and flipped through it. Aha!

"Oh wow, that does sound good." Erin said, "We can have this and then the pie can be dessert." Although she wasn't sure if she'd eat both of them in one meal, she was definitely looking forward to when all of this was made. It also did a good job of alleviating her guilt from them ending up making her favorite kind of pie instead of Damon's.

"Do you want to do the chicken or the oil?" Erin asked, already pulling some of the ingredients together, "We can pull our work together when the chicken is ready to go in the skillet."

Alyssa raised an eyebrow at Hiroto. How many times was she going to have to explain that she wouldn't do anything until he told her to? She sighed. She really didn't have the patience to deal with this now. Instead, she took the prepared pie shell and arranged it in a pan, deciding to wait and see if he actually gave her any sort of instructions. Erin and Damon looked like they were planning to make something else while waiting, which really wasn't a surprise. The two of them were her probably some of her best students.

"Feel free to do whatever you want, but it's not gonna count as extra credit," she said, finishing up with the crust and stepping back. In fairness, it was her fault for not exactly preparing the sweet potatoes before hand. But since she was dealing with teenagers, she assumed they'd be working with fruit pies. "It's lunch break after this, so you two can eat in here."

Hiroto started to arrange some of the strawberries in the pan. "Well the recipe says to mash up the remaining strawberries while mixing sugar with it. I'll let you do that, while I work on the cornstarch and water mixture."

He walked back over to the cupboard, gathering the proper amount of cornstarch in a small bowl. He brought it over to a sink, filling a cup 3/4ths of the way up. He started to mix the cornstarch, till it turned into a thick mixture. He placed the mixture next to the pie pan, and turned on the stove. "Pass the strawberry mixture over here once its been mixed."

"I'll handle the chicken." Damon said with a nod, moving to the fridges. Well, no extra credit was fine with him, and the chance to cook up a great, warm lunch was always welcome. He pulled the chicken out of the fridge and grabbed some plastic wrap. This wouldn't be too hard. He put it between two sheets, and began to roll over them with a rolling pin, as the recipe called for.

"Alright, I'll get the skillet ready then." Erin said, "Just let me know when you're about to put the chicken in." Erin turned the fire on the stove up halfway and put two spoons of olive oil in, as the recipe said. If the chicken took longer than expected, she could turn the fire down until it was ready.

Meanwhile, she checked on the sweet potatoes again, moving them around a bit with a spatula. She doubted they were ready yet, but they looked okay so far.

After a minute or two, the chicken was pressed, as per the instruction. That wasn't TOO hard. He brought it over to Erin and the skillet, placing the chicken in. 3 to four minutes wouldn't take too long. He glanced over to the other student and Bell-sensei, watching how they were doing. It looked like they were going with Strawberry pie, a nice choice.

"Looks like all the other students are going to regret not being here today." He said, somewhat amused by that. ESPECIALLY if Bell-sensei rally did go through with the strange foods idea.

"Ah, it's three to four minutes per side, so about 7 minutes total..." Erin said, checking the recipe again, "...Maybe we should save a bit of pie for them?" Erin tentatively suggested, "I mean, yeah they missed class, but it might not have been their fault..."

Erin went to grab the plate while Damon watched the chicken. She knew where the container of olive oil was, so she would be ready to start on the onions and garlic as soon as the chicken was done. After that, they'd be almost done with this dish, and the pie would be almost ready~

"Hmmm...." Damon 'said' in response to what Erin was thinking. Perhaps. "Well, it's not like we'll eat an entire pie by ourselves anyways." Damon said, with a shrug. He flipped the chicken over, letting the other side cook as well. This was the one worst part of cooking: The waiting.

"Well, if the teacher doesn't mind, we can save half or so to bring in tomorrow..." Erin said, checking on the sweet potatoes again. She looked over to Damon for a bit while they waited. She didn't want to bother him, but she wanted to make some kind of conversation and it was really the only thing on her mind other than the food. "...Are you alright, Damon?" She asked, in a slightly worried tone, "Er, sorry, you just...looked a bit tired is all...Were you up late last night?" She mentally backed off a bit before adding, "I-I don't mean to sound like I'm prying..."

Damon was a bit silent. He really didn't want to think about the night beforehand. So many people KILLING like that...it made Damon sick to his core, and furious. He was still completely and utterly disgusted with the people who just threw away human life like that. Just because they were criminals, didn't mean they had the right to judge any of them. All life was sacred.

"I...just had a rough night." He said, shaking his head. "After a good meal, and maybe a nap after school, I'll be right as rain. Or snow, considering the weather." He said, before removing the chicken and putting it aside.

Erin could tell that she had dragged up something bad. It was subtle, but she could see the distaste so strong that made him feel ill, if just for a moment. "I'm sorry, I...I shouldn't have said anything..." She looked down a bit as she turned to the now empty skillet, silently adding the oil, stirring it along with the onions and garlic. ...The food will help him feel better...
