"Am I really the first one here...?" Erin wondered out loud, standing by the same table she had used before. Whenever she was the first one there, she was always afraid that the class had been canceled or moved to another room and no one had told her. She usually came to class early, but she wasn't that early.

She stood around silently, waiting for the rest of the students and the teacher to appear. "I hope I can partner up with Damon again..." The teacher might decide that we had to have a new partner for every class, or might even have us cook solo. I'd probably mess up if that happened...

Hiroto walked in, in his usual attire, and looked nervous. He was carrying a binder with him, and had a cautious look on his face. One hand was in a pouch, holding 6 runes in it, constantly switching runes out. He wasn't even sure if he was in the right class. He noticed Erin, as he made his way to an open table. "Is this cooking? I hope I'm in the right place. Not use to finding the classes here yet..."

He placed his stuff down, making sure that he had his runes in his pouch. He had a fedora on, and placed it down on the table. If I'm in the wrong room again, I'm gonna kill someone. Or maybe those lemmings again....

"This is the right place." Said Damon, as he walked in. It seemed he was either early, or that most of the class was late or sick. They'd probably pour in at th last second when he wasn't looking. Only two people were here, Erin and some new person. They were wearing an old fashioned hat, indoors. Kinda odd...

He took a seat, yawning. Damon had been preoccupied as of late, and hadn't been sleeping too well. He really wished he had something to help keep him awake, but c'est la vie. He just decided to wait, hoping that whatever they would be cooking would have sugar in it.

Alyssa stepped into the classroom behind Damon and the others, walking over to her desk briskly. She glanced around the classroom, frowning slightly. Figured that her class would have less students than she could count on one hand. After what supposedly happened with Wo Shing last night, she wasn't too surprised. She threw on her apron and tied it back, turning to them. "Morning," she said. "Only three of you? Well...I guess it will do."

She looked around, recognizing Damon and Erin. Damon was probably one of her best students, since he already knew how to cook, so she wasn't too worried there. "Damon, with Erin if you don't mind," she said. She turned towards the new student. "Hiroto Sato?" she asked. "You can work with me. Don't worry, I don't bite."

"By the way, my name's Alyssa Bell. I'm your cooking teacher." That pretty much took care of introductions for the day. She walked over to one of the free stations, making sure that Damon and Erin could still hear and see her from where she was. "Today, I thought we could work on something sweet. It's cold outside so anything frozen is out, so we'll be working on pastries today. For this particular class, we'll do pies. And when your classmates show up tomorrow...or whenever they feel like coming to class, the three of you can sit out while I make them make salads. Preferably with ingredients off of some strange foods show."

"If you turn to page 137 of the recipe books you have at your stations, you'll find the baking section. Go ahead and select which one you want to make. They all have more or less the same steps--the difference is mostly the filling." She paused to let them decide, showing Hiroto where the recipe book was before walking to the middle of the classroom so that she was in reach of Damon and Erin if they needed her.

"Oh wow, a pie!" Erin said aloud, reaching for her recipe manual. Erin really, really, REALLY loved pie. Being able to pair up with Damon and make one of her favorite deserts was going to be a very fun cooking class indeed.

Of course, she didn't know a whole lot about how to make one, but that's what the class was for. All she knew was that you were supposed to poke a hole in the center or it would explode or something, at least for apple pie (which she didn't particularly like, at least not as much as pumpkin or sweet potato pie). There were some pies in the manual that she had never tried before too, like key lime pie. What's the difference between a lime and a key lime anyway...? she wondered.

She put the manual down temporarily to grab her apron, having forgotten about it in her excitement. She stole a glance at Damon as she was putting it on, noticing that he looked really tired. He must have been up late last night... Erin was usually asleep before 10 PM, and very much a morning person. Well, he'll probably be okay...I just shouldn't bother him a whole lot.

Putting her hands together, Erin turned to her partner to say, "Hmm, what's your favorite kind of pie Damon?" Not being one to speak up for herself, Erin made sure to ask Damon before stating her own preferences, in case they conflicted.

Oh thank god Pie. Something with sugar. Damon didn't care one bit what kind of pie it was, so long as it was edible, and came with coffee. It seemed Erin was his partner again, no complaints from him. She knew how to cook, so the two of them could get something good mad. He got his apron, and put it on, with a yawn.

Erin asked him his preferred flavor, something he wasn't too sure on. He liked almost every kind of pie, really. A favorite? "Hmmm...I dunno. I guess Blueberry. Or Blackberry. Or both. I like all pie, though." He said, with a shrug. "You?" He asked, looking over the recipe. Pretty standard overall. This would be a walk in the park.

Hiroto opened his book, and started looking through the different fillings. He knew how to cook cakes, so how hard could a pie be? Of course, he was just glad to be in the right place for once in his lifetime. He picked up an apron, putting it on as he waited for farther instructions. "I think I'll go with strawberry, nothing beats strawberry..."

He washed his hands, and prepared to follow the recipe. He wasn't sure were to begin, but who knows maybe it'd work out well. I guess this can't be too bad. Maybe nothing will explode on me, burn, or several hurt me...

Erin felt a bit guilty for asserting her own preferences, but Damon did say he liked all pies, and he did ask specifically what her favorite was. In this situation, for once, Erin felt that it was okay to speak up about what she wanted. "...I suppose my favorite would have to be sweet potato, or pumpkin." She said quietly, "I'm...not a huge fan of fruit pies..."

Augh, why did I have to hate blueberries so much? She thought, scolding herself over something she didn't really have much control over. Everything was going so perfectly...

Erin and Cap, no need to wait for me to post, just keep going. Once you post up your choice of pie, I'll post up your recipe.

Alyssa nodded at Hiroto's choice, looking over briefly to see how Erin and Damon were doing, but it looked like they were still deciding. She wasn't too worried about them. Both were good students, which was why she didn't mind letting them work together while she supervised someone else. If it were any other people, she might have been a little worried they would blow up the kitchen or something.

"Alright," she said. "Strawberry it is. I'm going to help you, but so it's fair, I'm not going to tell you what needs to be done. Just tell me what to do." After all, he wouldn't learn much if she just took over, would he? If Hiroto looked through the cookbook, he would find the following recipe.

"Ah, no problem then." He said, with a shrug. "Let's go with Sweet Potato then. He said, looking into his book. "It'll be nice, considering the snow outside." He said, noting how quiet Erin was in saying she disliked fruit pies. It wasn't the end of the world, it was just pie.

"Alright. Looks like we have sweet potatoes to mash, and crust to prepare." He said, with a yawn.

Hiroto searched through the cookbook, opening it to the correct recipe. He looked down the list of ingredients, and then the instructions. "Hmm.... I suppose we should prepare the crust, and gather the ingredients...."

He reread the instructions, making sure he knew what to do, and to make sure he had the measurements correct. He reached into a cupboard, and pulled out a saucepan. He placed it down, and looked back at the book.

"Ah, alright..." Erin still felt a bit guilty, but Damon didn't seem to mind. She decided that she would try her best not to dwell on it. It was still in the back of her mind, but she didn't want to ruin her time by concentrating on something like that. "I can handle the sweet potatoes, if that's alright." She said, flipping through her own book to the correct page. I've never made sweet potato pie before, but it can't be too hard... Erin thought, Miss Bell said all pies were basically made the same, and I've made a pie before...

"The crust's already mostly prepared," said Alyssa. "I can get that for you, if you like. You'll find all your ingredients in the cupboards and refrigerators around the cafeteria." She gestured at the several freezers and fridges that lined the walls, along with cupboards. It was safe to say that the school had everything, since it needed to feed the students. Just to be sure, though, Alyssa always checked to make sure common items were well in stock.

"What would you like me to do?" she asked.

"Sounds like a plan, then." Damon said with a nod. He moved to handle the other part: Namely, getting the pie tin ready. This was easy, not like it would be any serious issue. As he moved to do so, he turned on the oven, setting it to 350 degrees, knowing preheating would be best here. He worked with the pie crust, placing it in and fluting the edges. Hey, presentation was a big part of the dish.

"How's it going over there?" The shadowmancer asked, doing his best to give the pie crust a proper and even edge.

She had a pot of water on the stove, letting it boil. When it started to bubble, she would put the sweet potatoes in. "Fourty to fifty minutes...?" She said, reading the recipe, "Would you mind if I helped you with some things in a bit, Damon?" she asked, "After I put these in they just have to sit there for almost an hour..."
