"Pft.." He scoffed looking at the girl. "You really are pathetically average.." He said with a dissatisfied sigh. Somehow he'd enjoyed the idea of meeting a girl whom wasn't so.. well.. girly. He found this sort of person to be the most bothersome. He exhaled and turned taking the clothes to the bathroom. Well it wasn't like he'd expected much more from a person like this. He wasn't going to get his hopes up that easily. People were boring. This school was boring. And the few you might find to be worthwhile would just die anyhow. He wasn't going to go acting broken hearted every time a person failed to meet his expectations or else he'd never get anything done. The only thing he could consistently expect out of others was failure to live up to even what seemed to be the simplest desire, 'don't be boring'. This one standard proved to be far too much for most. And he had accepted that a long time ago. He emerged from the bathroom eying the clothes. Almost spot on, Whomever owned these either liked over-sized clothes or was as tall as the blue haired foreigner. Either way it was incredibly convenient for Deus whom deeply loathed the idea of looking like he'd grown two feet the night before by wearing clothes three sizes short of what he needed. He stepped out with his hands in his back pockets, grinning with an air of mischief. "So what's so dangerous here, anyhow?" He said looking around. "The lethal levels of dull?" He said sardonically. |

"Would you call being targeted by government-trained super-powered super-soldiers dull?" Wh-V! "Shut it, Seth. The best way to tackle a problem is to charge at it head on. Weaving around avoiding it is only going to complicate things," V walked out of the back area clad in frilly white apron, carrying with him a tray with a big bowl of chicken soup and a mug of hot chocolate. Obviously enough Seth was the one who made the soup, as V would never be caught dead even wanting to try that hygienically clean white frilly thing. But since Seth was being a bit too soft, he decided to take this problem in his own hand. Setting the tray on the table with a bit more force than he intended, spilling a bit of the soup on the floor, he promptly took off the apron and turned around facing Deus. "I'll tell you why you can't stay here. Every worker of this little office is being targeted by super-soldiers, and in four days, they'll move in to kill each and every single one of us. This-" He pointed at the bowl of soup, "-and that-" He pointed at the clothes Deus was wearing, "-is as much as Seth could go without having you in their cross hair as well. ... And the pizza," He added with slight bitterness. "N-not that I want to leave you out in the cold!" Seth immediately took control once V has finished, a bit apprehensive that he might get the wrong idea. "Well, tell you what, you can stay in my dorm room for the night until your butler comes to pick you up," |

There was a little bit inside Chetri that was starting to think of Seth's big mouth as an inconvenience, although she managed not to react. "No need to make excuses now." she rolled her eyes and crossed er arms "What he neglected to mention is that, he doesn't actually live here, so he can't exactly invite people to stay." She offered, a considerably more reasonable, perfectly valid, and also perfectly true explanation. If seth seemed abit more of a loony because of it in the eyes of others, well, that was not her problem and he was just dealing with the consequences of his lack of judgement. |

Deus glanced between them with a frown. "The hell...?" He said quirking an eyebrow. The one guy had went off into crazy town but the comment for the other could be seen as covering for him. He wasn't sure exactly what to make of this. So this place was in trouble? From.. assassins? He wasn't sure he wanted to dismiss that as just being something amusing said by a crazy. But at the same time it seemed a lot like exactly that. Either way.... "Four days.. So tonight should be okay right? And the owner is out. Listen, you're seriously going to make us go out in the blizzard?" Deus said to the girl with as much of a sympathetic tone as possible. "Be-si-si-saaaah ahhh AHH AHCK THWOO!" He yelped as he cupped his hands over his face. He walked over and blew his nose in the sink before walking back. "Besides.. I'm not feeling so hot.." He said, which was conveniently quite honest. He sat down and exhaled. "A couch, one night. Is all i need. Then I'm gone. Stop making mountains out of hole hills." He said spooning some soup into his open maw. He missed his mouth and spilled it all down the floor. "ah.. eh..?" He said eying it dizzily. His cheeks had also begun to take on a slight red hue. Oh shit, was he getting actually sick..? "Eh... ah. Yeah. That too..." He mumbled, completely forgetting the fact that he doesn't live here. Considering that fact, he can't let him stay here even if there's no assassins after their butts. Because Jameson is stingy. That being said, he needs to clean that mess up before he forgets about it, else the owner of the house is gonna go berserk. Like he did last time Seth made a mess. Twice. Scary, he was. Jameson. And he was very tempted to tell him off for spilling the soup, but something took away the intention. "Deus... you okay there?" For some reason he looked a bit wobbly. Somehow this should be expected. What else do you think would happen to someone who slept on a bed made out of snow outside in winter? He brought himself closer to Deus, placing his hands to his forehead. And sure enough. "Goodness, you're sick," He said, feeling the significantly warmer sensation on his hand. All thoughts of lending him a bed in his dorm room wiped out completely. There's really no blizzard outside (heck, if there had been one they wouldn't even be here), but taking a sick person across the city through the biting cold winter air doesn't seem like a good idea. ... Oh, man. Just for one night. He turned around facing Chetri, half-expecting her to deny his request. "Chetri, please, can he stay here for one night? Just this one night, please?" |

And Seth would be right about that. It wasn't that she was essentially raised in a way to as much as possible, not feel compassion for others, nor the fact that Seth had decided to extend the hospitality of a place he didn't technically live in (even though he did). It was the very real concern that someone might show up, and cause a complication that would be much much easier to resolve if they didn't have to worry about Deus. Like a gunfight, or an early return from her boss, or many of a million and one other things that generally tended to happen that could possibly make life difficult under the circumstances. The perversity of the world had a habit of ruining the best laid plans with simple, innocent things, that quickly devolved into SNAFU as unforeseen events made their repercussions all the more evident, usually negatively. The world afterall, was analog, not digital. And analog was usually shorthand for 'just short of a train wreck.' "Considering there really isn't actually a Blizzard out there, there's nothing stopping you from going. Or for that matter, finding any means of transport to get around." she said as she crossed her arms, and a deathly aside glance to Seth that pretty said 'We will discuss this later.' Besides, between the guy's penchant for wandering around unsupervised and tearing apart some of Jameson's clothes, it was clear that Seth had caused more than enough trouble courtesy of Deus for one day, and there was still the slim, but real chance he was some sort of spy or agent provocateur. Just because she didn't think he was, it was also entirely likely he was also merely really good at hiding it, and in her old business, there was a simple adage: You could only be betrayed by someone you trust. |

And with that his last effort had been rebutted. Even his best shot had failed. Fantastic. Not that he hadn't expected to meet with some difficulty in this. Getting people to let you stay in their home wasn't so easy and it seemed like they had various circumstance of their own. "Tch, fine whatever. I'll just head back on my own. If i'm making the trip all the way back to the dorms then why can't I just go to my own place?" He stood, wavering slightly. "Sorry to have imposed on you all. I'll get these clothes back tomorrow." He said with a sigh. He walked towards the door. He knew they had their own circumstances, and he understood that he was imposing, but it sure was a pain. He wasn't actually sure where he was going to go.. But they didn't know that. All he looked like to them was someone too lazy to walk home in the cold. As such he couldn't push it any further without telling them more which he couldn't risk. He'd blown his shot on this one. And as such he'd just face his own luck with the cold. For now he just needed to find a place to stay. "You're pride is you're greatest failing.. If you'd just accept your uncle's money.." Thanatos said with a frown trailing behind him. Deus, without turning back, tapped the charm and twisted it to seal the spirit within. The last thing he needed was that worrywart asshole pestering about shit he already knew. More importantly he wasn't really feeling very good and he didn't want to add a headache from being lectured to that discomfort.. |

Considering her flat-out non-hesitating tone and her deathly side glare that sent shivers down his spine, he should have fully expected her to refuse, and not just half-expect. Before he could say another word, however, Deus got up, apologized and immediately took his leave. He didn't even have the time to tell him to wait, and all he could manage was his half-standing position as he got up from the couch. "He can't just..." Don't move kid. "Whuh?" Look behind you. Ack. He doesn't need to look behind. Because he could just feel it, the killer instinct emitted by the assassin all directed to him. Bad joke, man. Is this even a joke? I dunno anymore. |

The killing intent was mainly a product of Seth's imagination however. Chetri herself didn't feel enmity... or for that matter, much of anything, other than maybe an inconvenience. "Anyway, let's talk in the other office." she said, expecting Seth to follow her. She hadn't quite dropped the act yet. You never knew who was listening afterall, and he still might have been within earshot. Chetri waited for the door to close before speaking again, this time without the cover. She half turned to look at Seth, her cold, flint-like eyes observing him closely. ![]() "So exactly what were you thinking when you decided to tell him everything." she asked "You realise that there's a chance he might have been someone sent to observe and get a feel for our defences, and telling him all that simply narrows down the possible courses of action they can guess we will take. Even if he wasn't, you might well have put him in danger by taking him here. Several of Jameson's clients have been murdered before just to get his attention, and if anyone was listening, they now know he knows, and you've just made him an additional target." Okay, so it probably wasn't as bad as he thought it would be. But if she didn't kill him physically, she just killed him mentally. Every single word uttered were like swords, spears and arrows, hacking and slashing and stabbing and piercing into his heart mercilessly, reminding him of how utterly naive and idiotic his actions had been. The simple act of letting him stay, even bringing him here could easily jeopardize their safety and plan. Can you blame him, though? He's inexperienced in this sort of thing. Not to mention, he can't help but help anyone who asks for help right in front of him. Uh... so many help. Even then, if anything does go wrong it's all his fault. Depressed, dejected and unable to say anything to defend himself, he merely stared down at his shoes. He doubted an apology would be good enough to redeem himself. |

"I know you only want to help others, and that's a wish that cannot be condemned. However, you must also take into account your current circumstances, especially while we're being hunted. So until the danger has passed..."![]() She seemed to lose interest in him, and resumed staring blankly ahead. ![]() The was a cold finality to it, and a hint of disinterest. She'd long considered it part of living. It was nothing new to her, but it wasn't something that most people were expected to (or would ever have to) deal with. She remained quiet for awhile, letting the gravity of the situation fully sink in. "I hope you understand that much at least. In anycase, the torn clothes will be your responsibility to deal with. Please have the matter concluded before Jameson's return, you should know how he is in regard to his possessions being damaged." Edited by Katyusha, Jan 10 2011, 05:15 AM.
