Twas the day before Christmas and all through the school, not a much sounds could be heard, except: "Come ooooooooooooooooooon! You said you'd consider dressing up! Where's your Christmas spirit!?" If one was to look out of one of the classroom windows, one would find a pair of dots zipping around the school grounds in rather erratic patterns. One a silver blur and the a larger red and white blur. Nickle flew behind Chizu, looking rather buff in his Santa costume, his red Santa hat blowing in the wind as he flapped after Chizu. Since she'd learnt to accelerate using the wind, Thanks Kinclex... this was the only way Nickle could keep up with her, but that didn't mean catching her wasn't any easier. "It's not like you haven't worn a skirt before! Plus its not like you'll catch cold! That's what the fluff is for!" Nickle had gotten his hopes up when Chizu had first said she'd consider wearing a costume for Christmas. He wasn't about to demean her by making her dress like a reindeer or elf. Since they were a couple, he figured a Santa and Ms Claus attire would go nicely. However, although Nickle had managed to budge the rock that was Chizu's mindset quite a bit over time, it seemed that it wasn't far enough yet... Nickle held his Santa sack on his back and his other arm was outstretched, trying to grab the scruff of Chizu's collar. "You're not getting out of it this time little Miss Clause!" Besides, her silver hair would look great in the red and white outfit! Nickle wasn't gonna pass up this chance. |

"I said I'd consider it! And I considered it! And the answer's no!!!" Chizu twirled around and out of Nickle's reach, the air underneath her foot solidifying just long enough to allow her to pivot on one leg. His fingers would close around empty air, having missed the scruff of her collar by just a few inches. Flakes of snow hit her as she finished the turn, propelling herself higher up into the air and away from him. But not for long. Damn it, why'd he have to have wings?!? she thought to herself, sliding forward on a semi-solid stream of wind awkwardly as she rushed away from him. The flapping sound of Nickle's wings drew her attention and she let go of the air below her, swerving and falling to the left. She gulped down breaths of cold air quickly, exhaling white mist with each puff of air. "No means no, damn it!" she said, turning around to face him as she landed on the ground. She skidded backwards in the snow, jumping up and doing a backflip before launching herself in the air again. She turned her head towards one of the classroom windows--empty now thanks to the winter break, except for the white dragon that was perched on the windowsill. "Aether, help me out here!" she said. "I want no part of this," said Aether calmly, tugging at the red piece of cloth that had been tied around his neck, with two round golden bells hanging down from it at the front. "Traitor!" yelled Chizu, pushing outwards with the wind as she narrowly escaped Nickle yet again. |

"Come on! If an ancient wind spirit like Aether can get into the spirit of things you can too! Don't be a scrooge! Embrace the Christmas spirit!" Nickle boosted forward, using his powers to propell him forwards from his feet, breaking out his sack and trying to grab Chizu inside of it. Not because it would be easier to transport her someplace so that Nickle could dress her up, oooooh no. Nickle wasn't about to dress up as Ol' Saint Nick without a magic sack! Of course his sack wasn't magic, but rather a clever invention of his. Instead of containing vast amounts of presents, it contained a vast amount of Christmas Costumes! All Nickle needed to do was get Chizu inside and instant costume change! He was thankful for the snow slowing her up a bit. He'd gotten close a couple of times now, but he hadn't told her the secrets about the Santa Sack. "Gotcha!" said Nickle, hoisting the sack high and he managed to loom over a Chizu for a moment, trying to Santa-bag her. |

"This has nothing to do with the Christmas spirit!" shouted Chizu, dodging Nickle yet again. A furrow formed in the snow as she moved. It had been snowing on and off for the past few days, and the accumulating snow was enough to slow down her movement. Damn. Of course, it would be way too simple for Nickle to keep this to the paved pathways. She took a deep breath, jumping backwards quickly and avoiding the sack for the second time. The snow rose up to the tops of her winter boots, restricting her movement as Nickle rushed towards her again. Chizu's eyes narrowed and her fists clenched at her side. It was going to take a lot more than snow to slow her down enough for him to catch her. A familiar determined look entered her eye, the wind swirling around her. She jumped back suddenly, jumping just out of reach of the sack. Her foot caught onto a tree root beneath the snow. Chizu's eyes widened as she lost her balance, falling backwards. She opened her mouth, letting out a single short four letter swear word as she fell backwards into the snow, forming a Chizu-shaped impression. She quickly shot into a sitting position and placed her gloved hands on the ground, ready to push herself back, but it was too late. He was already standing over her. The sack fell over her head... ... "DAMN YOU NICKLE!!!" Balls of snow flew through the air at an impossibly fast speed, coming from a red and white figure--now dressed festively and standing in the snow. Chizu's arms seemed almost like windmills on either side of her as she scooped up snow and threw it at her boyfriend. |

While still inside the sack, Nickle landed on the ground, before doing a victory arm pump and jumping up into the air, "Yyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeessssssss!" he couldn't belive he'd pulled it off! Well that was that! Mission accomplished! Well that was certainly worth all the effort. However it was at that moment that Chizu came out of the bag, and looking none too shabby in Nickle's opinion. "Chizu! You look fanta-" Nickle was knocked over by a high velocity snowball to the face. "But!" Nickle dodge a volley of snowballs, "Chizu you-!" Nickle dropped down into the snow to avoid the next set of snowballs, "Look cute! Honestly!" Nickle then picked himself up and ran in a low zigzag for about a meter before tackling Chizu to the ground and into the snow, his wings dispersing in a shower of glitttering light. Nickle rolled once in the snow, only for one reason, so that he was in the snow and Chizu was on top. After all, his outfit was a lot more forgiving to the body when it came to falling into the snow. Nickle smiled, looking up at her, "Come on, is it really that bad that we have a couples costume." Nickle released his grip on Chizu and instead lay there in the snow, resting his hands in a more gentle way on her body. "Merry Christmas Itokuzu-chan." And Nickle meant that in a very caring way, not just because Chizu's attire now incopirated fluff. |

"Nickle-san's right, looking good indeed, Chizu-chan!" A familiar voice called out from behind the couple, followed by a chuckle. If they turned their attention to the source of the voice it was none other than Lavender, the aeromancer also getting herself dressed up for the occasion, as none other than her re-interpretation of a Christmas elf - sticking true to the predominantly green color scheme, but with her own innovations - a body-hugging top that bared a good portion of her midriff, matched with a pair of hot pants and sheer sleeves, and the traditional pointy-toed boots. Not really the kind of outfit for winter, but it certainly made the idea of a Christmas elf look cute, if Lavender would say so herself. "I mean, we've got Mr. and Mrs. Claus, so what we need now is an elf!" The older aeromancer grinned broadly as she rested her hands behind her back, leaning forward playfully before raising herself back into an upright stance. "But anyhow, Merry Christmas to you two." Lavender smiled and nodded. |

The last snowball flew out of her hand, flying just over Nickle's head as he rushed in and tackled her to the ground. She let out a soft grunt, sinking into the snow for the second time of the day. Except this time, she definitely wasn't dressed for the weather. He realized that too, because in a matter of moments, his arms wrapped around her and he turned so that he was the one lying in the snow. Chizu pushed herself up slightly on her hands, as if she was still deciding whether or not to break away. She let out an angry huff as he spoke, a puff of white mist appearing in front of her face. Chizu raised one hand to her face, wiping the snow off. "Baka..." she muttered under her breath. Still frowning, she relaxed slightly, allowing herself to lie back down. "You're annoyingly persistent." She adjusted the hat on her head, which felt like it was about to fall off, straightening it out. "...I bet I look freaking ridiculous..." It was always hard to accept that she could look good. After all, it wasn't like she was the model of traditional femininity. She stiffened when Lavender called out, her face heating up as she quickly sprang off Nickle, standing up in the snow and turning to face her teacher, now dressed as an elf. Her face was bright red. She didn't think anyone would be around the school building when there weren't any classes in session. Sure not all students actually went home for the holidays, but it wasn't like they went near the class buildings. "Hmph," she said, folding her arms and looking away when Lavender mentioned their costumes. "Mrs. Claus wants a divorce." She gave Nickle a pointed look before looking away. It seemed like she had accepted the idea, at least. Edited by Chizu, Dec 25 2010, 04:41 PM.

Nickle turned around in delighted surprise as Lavender joined them. He'd heard about Cerium's little shopping spree with the older aeromancer at the anime store. So Nickle had started to get a hunch Lavender liked dressing up more than she let on. Tactical or army gear seemed to be a favorite of hers and not jut for its functionality Nickle suspected. Nickle smiled at Chizu when she spoke of a divorce. Feeling accomplished after successfully dressing Chizu up, Nickle felt it time to make her appreciate the signifigance of her costume a bit. "Hey, it's just something's couples do, dress up in couples costumes to show they're a joint item." Nickle then moved away from Chizu's side for a moment, shrugging his shoulders, "Buuuut, if a divorce is what you want I suppose I could always ask Lavender-san to wear the costume." Nickle had moved over to Lavender and with a swiftness and elegance that was surprising, had taken Lavender's one hand and placed his own hand around her back, spinning the two of them around in a dancer's pair spin, ending off with gently lowering Lavender a bit toward Chizu so that she was looking at her upside down and Nickle was looking a Chizu evenly. "Of course if that was the case people would get the wrong idea." Nickle then pulled Lavender up onto her feet and bowed slightly, thanking her for the performance. He then moved over to Chizu and extended his hand to her, "Star light, star bright, would you be my Mrs. Claus tonight?" Typical Nickle, always doing something with flare, especially if it was to get his way. But then, one had to realise that doing things this way was just Nickle trying to make the situation more fun. It was his way of expressing his joy to the poeple around them, in hopes of making them happy. |

"Mrs. Claus wants a divorce." Chizu commented as she folded her arms and looked away from Nickle, clearly uncomfortable with the idea of getting dressed up in a costume. Not the cosplaying sort, as far as Lavender could tell, although the thought brought a giggle into the older aeromancer's head. There's always a first time for everything, and the younger aeromancer could always be taught how to appreciate a good cosplay. "Oh come on, Chizu-chan, it's what they call living up to the spirit of the occasion," Lavender added teasingly, in a tone that's deliberately sweeter than her usual. If 'sugary' was how the older aeromancer's tone can normally be described when she's in a good mood, this time she's upped the ante and moved to 'saccharine'. "Hey, it's just something's couples do, dress up in couples costumes to show they're a joint item." Lavender nodded playfully at Nickle's comment as the electromancer shrugged and moved away from Chizu's side for a moment. Of course, Nickle's choice for a Miss Santa costume is decidedly more flashy than the more traditional ones, but being only himself, Lavender can't say she blamed him; even more so after having met his cousin Cerium - does that kind of behavior run through the family or something? "Buuuut, if a divorce is what you want I suppose I could always ask Lavender-san to wear the costume." "What?" Lavender exclaimed as Nickle was suddenly right before her, taking hold of one of her hands in one and placing another on her back, and with what could only be a practiced elegance and fluidity, before twirling the two of them around like something out of a salsa dance, with Lavender being lowered towards Chizu such that the older aeromancer found herself looking upside-down at the younger aeromancer. "That was purely Nickle-san's idea..." Lavender remarked sheepishly over how Nickle had taken her as a 'dance partner'. "Of course if that was the case people would get the wrong idea." Nickle mused as he pulled Lavender back to her feet and gave her a bow as a gesture of thanks, to which the amethyst-haired aeromancer felt obligated to respond with a (skirt-less) curtsy of her own, so it was more of just miming the pose. "Star light, star bright, would you be my Mrs. Claus tonight?" Lavender chuckled at Nickle's proposal as the electromancer went back to Chizu's side with a hand extended towards the silver-haired aeromancer. "Well isn't that just sweet?" Lavender added, trying to assist Nickle by giving the younger aeromancer a metaphorical poke in the right direction, as a faint violet energy swirl surrounded Lavender's right hand, followed by some snow being blown into the air, drifting down gently in feathery white flakes of snow to add to the wintery charm of the scene before her, a little atmospheric enhancement, if Lavender would so put it. |

Chizu almost cringed at Lavender's overly sugary tone of voice. And if the speaker hadn't been a teacher at Hyakuji, she would probably have cringed and maybe said a few choice words. Because she respected most of the teachers at Hyakuji--the jury was still out on Tsukasa-sensei--she immediately suppressed the urge, keeping her arms folded and her eyes locked on Lavender. The flat look she gave her teacher, though, showed that she wasn't amused. She turned towards Nickle as he spoke, her arms still folded. The wind currents bent and rippled around her, reforming themselves so that they went around and not over her. The stupid costume wasn't exactly meant for keeping warm, after all, but the temperature was bearable without the wind chill to consider. Her eyes widened slightly as Nickle mentioned asking Lavender to wear it instead and she turned her head quickly towards her teacher, lowering her arms. Damn, she thought to herself, realizing that by reacting she had already lost. That's why you make a bad negotiator. "That was purely Nickle-san's idea..." said Lavender, looking at her upside-down. Chizu clenched her fists. "It always is," she said, giving Nickle a glare as he released Lavender and turned towards her. Her eyes traveled from Nickle's face to his outstretched hand. She looked up at his face again, still considering, before the tension left her back and shoulders with a sigh, white mist curling up in front of her face when she exhaled. The angry look in her eyes vanished, replaced by one of resignation. When he looked at her like that, she couldn't say no. It was how he had gotten her to stay on a rooftop during the biggest battle she had been in since the end of the Heartless incident. She hoped he never figured it out. Because if he did, she would learn to say no. Emphatically. With fists. Maybe. "Whatever..." she said, reaching out and taking his hand. Her hands were cold. Not surprising, considering she had just spent the last few minutes hurling snow at him. "Idiot." Of course, for Chizu, it was practically a term of endearment. |

Nickle smiled as Chizu took his hand under the snow that Lavender was bringing up for effect. While holding it, Nickle applied a gentle bit of his power to warm up Chizu's fingers. "Hey come on, like I said you look great." Nickle leaned forward and kissed Chizu's forehead, before releasing her hand and taking a step back. "Besides, I kinda figured you wouldn't be too thrilled about the costume, so I came with some back-up." Nickle knew Chizu by now. She was hard-headed, proud and over-oozed self-dignity. The little chase just to get her into costume was proof of that. He really had to applaud Lavender for her assisted improvisation, as it just helped calm Chizu down a bit. While Nickle may have not realized that deep down Chizu responded to his antics, he knew there was one thing that everyone responded to. Nickle had reached inside his Santa jacket and pulled out two little parcels. "Merry Christmas guys." said Nickle with a smile as he gave both Lavender and Chizu their respective presents. "I'd planned to use this present to coax you into that costume if I didn't manage to catch you Chizu. But seeing as you're already in it, Saint Nick's gonna give to you for being such a good girl." Ok, yes Nickle was getting a little too into the bit, but he lived for these kind of occassions. Besides, Chizu's patience had grown extensively since hanging around him so he felt safe to indulge himself in his own antics. Nickle then handed Lavender her present, "And for my helpful elf, here you go. I was planning on giving it to you later on, but seeing as you came to me, saves me the trouble doesn't it?" Nickle gave Lavender her gift with a warm smile before standing back with his hands behind his back, rocking back and forth in the snow waiting for them to open their presents. |

"Idiot." Chizu's comment tickled Lavender's funny bone - even though she would never admit it, seeing the younger aeromancer behaving like that was simply endearing. She wouldn't disagree with Chizu on what she said - Nickle certainly had his silly moments, but that was what made him all the more charming. After all, humor was always a positive trait for a guy to possess. "Hey come on, like I said you look great." Lavender smiled and nodded her approval as Nickle took hold of Chizu's hand, before leaning forward and landing a kiss on the younger aeromancer's forehead. Isn't it simply romantic? Lavender swore that for a shoujo doujin she was planning to draw, the template for the story's lead male and female would none other be Nickle and Chizu respectively... or maybe she could give things a twist and based the male lead's personality on Chizu's and the female lead's on Nickle's. The amethyst-haired aeromancer giggled at the thought, already forming a mental image of possible drafts for character designs. "Merry Christmas guys." Nickle said as he reached into the red and downy coat of his Santa Claus outfit and procured a two small parcels. "I'd planned to use this present to coax you into that costume if I didn't manage to catch you Chizu. But seeing as you're already in it, Saint Nick's gonna give to you for being such a good girl." the electromancer remarked as he handed Chizu her present. "And for my helpful elf, here you go. I was planning on giving it to you later on, but seeing as you came to me, saves me the trouble doesn't it?" Then came Lavender's. Nodding graciously, the older aeromancer accepted the gift from Nickle, taking the electromancer's cue to open her present. "Thanks, Nickle-san! Merry Christmas to you too, and Chizu-chan!" Lavender replied as her nimble fingers quickly unwrapped the Christmas package, somehow managing to peel off the gift wrap surrounding the box in one piece instead of simply tearing it. "Oooh, what's it gonna be..." Lavender commented with barely-contained enthusiasm as she opened the box, a dramatic drum roll playing in her mind. |

A tingling sensation spread from Chizu's fingertips to a slight bit down her arm, and it wasn't just because Nickle was holding her hand either. She looked down, recognizing the feeling of electricity even though she couldn't see any of his signature blue sparks. Her other encounters with electricity had been...less than pleasant, but this didn't hurt at all. In fact, it felt warm. Her expression softened a bit as she looked back up at him. At least Nickle could be thoughtful, even if he was an idiot. "You win this time," she said with a sigh. She closed her eyes, letting him lean closer and kiss her on the forehead. Her cheeks were flushed a slight pink, because she wasn't lost in the moment enough to not be aware that her mentor was standing right next to her giggling at them. Chizu's eyes snapped open as Nickle turned away and quickly looked at Lavender. Her expression wasn't angry, but it was slightly embarrassed. And if Lavender had been anyone else, she probably would have snapped at said person for watching instead of going off to do something else. She turned back towards Nickle as he handed her a present, accepting it with both hands. "Thanks," she said, suddenly acutely aware of the fact that she didn't have a present for him on her at the moment. Then again, she hadn't exactly planned on getting ambushed during a walk through the school grounds, so that was his fault, wasn't it? She opened the present slowly, taking care instead of tearing into it with her usual haste. Nickle might have noticed by now that Chizu was always extremely careful with the things she was given or lent. |

Nickle grinned broadly as the two of them unwrapped their presents. He'd taken a long time to get them made, but it all paid off in the end. Seeing as Lavender had begun to open hers, naturally, she would discovered what was inside first. It was a digital wristwatch with a purple strap to go with her hair. It looked like a plain digital wristwatch with silver buttons, it also had a red and a blue button. However Nickle was still grinning from ear to ear. "That's a cosplay watch Lavender-chan. The blue button let's the watch scan whatever outfit you direct it at and then the red button can be turned to select the outfit you want. Just press it down and you'll be in a whole new outfit!" It was then that Nickle heard the ruffling from Chizu's side stop. Shew would find a box was inside the wrapping, but when she opened it, she would find inside was a necklace with two small diamonds on either side of a larger ruby pendant. It wasn't bit and gawdy however. Nickle knew Chizu better than that, she was more conservative. "That's a very special necklace. That can directly affect your aeromany if you will it to. It can give the wind a slight colouration and even add whatever scent you want to it. You could have a green wind and make it smell like roses if you want, for example." "Hope you both like them." |

"Hello, what's this?" Lavender asked, pleasantly surprised as she opened up the box to peer at its contents. A digital wristwatch, the first thing that caught her eye about it was how the strap matched her hair color, which clearly indicated the amount of thought Nickle put into this gift. But looking good wasn't the only thing about this watch. Of particular note to Lavender was a red button and a blue one, which kind of stood out from the silver function buttons. "That's a cosplay watch Lavender-chan. The blue button let's the watch scan whatever outfit you direct it at and then the red button can be turned to select the outfit you want. Just press it down and you'll be in a whole new outfit!" The electromancer was grinning ear to ear with his remark, and Lavender knew why. Truly a thoughtful gift indeed! By the time Nickle was done explaining how the watch works, Lavender had already worn it around her left wrist, turning her wrist about to examine it in all its glory. "Hope you both like them." "Sure I do Nickle-san! Thanks a lot... I'll treasure it always!" Lavender smiled and nodded as she glanced over at Chizu to see what the younger aeromancer received from Nickle, stifling a giggle as Nickle explained what it was capable of besides just looking good. |
