Chizu stood on the platform of the train station, glancing once at the digital clock across from her. The train would be arriving in ten minutes. Aether hovered just over her shoulder as she looked around, scanning the crowd. "Where is he?" she muttered under her breath, tapping her foot on the crowd. Aether turned towards her. "Patience, Chizu," he said. She growled under her breath, muttering a curse word at the small dragon-like elemental. "...If that bastard decides to skip out..." "Asakawa Kaito will be here," said Aether, smoothly interrupting her. "He has as much of a stake in this as you do." Chizu ran a hand through her hair, deciding against pointing out that it was her dad whose life was potentially on the line, and Kaito was only in it for redemption--something that could easily be forgotten about when cowardice was brought into play. And Kaito was a proven coward. She didn't need to say it. The elemental could read it in her expression. He had, after all, lived in her head for quite some time. She hoisted her backpack up on her shoulders and waited for her friends to approach. By now, school would have already started at Hyakuji, and a few of them would be conspicuously absent. Not that that was odd in Hyakuji, but still. It felt odd to think about classes going on without her there. She brushed a flake of snow out of her face, waiting for the others to show up. |

A small cloud of hot breathe was exhaled and a smile crept onto the azure-eyed man's face as he faked having a joint between his fingers and exhaling again, making it seem like he was smoking. "Hahaha, fake-addiction." chuckled Nickle as he made his way up the stairs and towards the platform. It had been two days since that kid had shown up Abenobashi arcade looking for Chizu and two days since Nickle had really spoken to her properly. Still, when he'd recieved her text message to meet up, he was there like a bear. He wrapped his mulit-shaded brown scarf a little tighter around his neck as he spotted Chizu, wanting to stay warm. It didn't look it, but Nickle's clothes were actually quite thermally insulated, despite their sleek design. A brown leather jacket with some fur at the collar, a set of woollen fingerless gloves, his regular jeans and boots and inside his pocket was a beanie should his head get cold. Nickle came to stand next to Chizu, hearing the last bits of one of her grumbles. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder, "Not talking about me are yah?" he said smiling a bit. |

"Well, I'm not late am I?" Lavender asked as she called out from, the aeromancer's voice coming from behind Chizu and Nickle. If the aeromancer were to look behind her, she'd find Lavender sitting on the roof of a train that was currently parked at the platform behind Chizu, the amethyst-haired aeromancer having one leg brought up close to her chest, while the other dangling idly. Lavender was dressed in a gray and white camouflaged field jacket over a black turtleneck and black trousers, her hair tied up in a high ponytail. A mirrored sun visor rounded out her outfit, the rays of the morning sun playing off its reflective iridescent surface. Lavender smiled as she waited for Chizu and Nickle to turn around. After all, she'd left the younger aeromancer with the impression that while she runs off to take care of her family matters, she'd be staying behind to run her classes. Except that Lavender didn't feel entirely at ease with her fellow elemancer and subordinate at Arcadia meeting with an old enemy, even if Damon and Nickle were going with her. So what's a good teacher going to do? She'd already sent a letter to Principal Hitagawa the moment Chizu left the staff room that day, and as far as music classes were concerned, a relief teacher was already arranged for. "I'm not discounting the possibility that things could get rough," Lavender commented. "So what's a good teacher gonna do?" As she spoke, a grin cracked her features. |

Spike strode toward the station. He'd had a hard time getting to sleep the night before. He had kind of forced Chizu to let him come along, so he didn't wanna cause her too much trouble. Still he had decided he was coming so he woke up in the morning and came. There wasn't anything else to do. Spike lifted his navy blue duffel bag up to make sure it was still laying on his shoulder then shoved his hands in his long jacket's pocket's to keep them warm. The only concessions he'd made to the winter weather was a pair of work boots and a longer undershirt. Seeing Chizu and her group he nodded. That was good. She had given him the right time to show up. "Hey there." He gave a wave to Chizu's group, before glancing at the people who'd arrived before him. He'd never seen Nickle before, but he looked pretty tough. He had seen Lavender before and was actually a bit surprised that a teacher was coming along on this sort of thing. Remembering Chizu's argument that it wasn't a field trip he smiled. He wasn't thinking of it as one but with a teacher in the group well, it crossed his mind. |

Damon arrived, a bit late. He had been quite sour and reclusive as of late, especially what with Kaito back and the recent events occurring in Hyakuji. He was no better today, barely even looking like he wanted to say a word. He gave a small nod to Chizu, Nickle, and Lavender, before standing off to the side of the group, arms folded. He didn't like this situation. He personally wished Kaito would take a long walk off of a short rooftop into a busy street occupied by rabid dogs who happened to breath fire. Yes, there was a chance Chizu's father was alive. But that didn't erase what had happened in the past. Again, yes he was possessed by a demonic chicken, but that only accounted for so much. |

IZUNAAAA DROP!

By nine in the morning, Setsuna had already been awake for quite some time. However, even by her strict early-rise exercise regiment it seemed Chizu-sempai had beaten her out of bed. Today was the day and her roommate needed her to be at her peak. However already things weren't going exactly as planned and she had begun accumulating guilt points early on with her routine running longer than it typically did. This was often the case in the winter though since she was restricted to doing most of her work outs indoors and for good reason. However the most annoying was part was by the time she'd finished there was no time left to find a cab or catch a bus. It was her own fault for no planning ahead of time, but a part of her felt that maybe it would have been easier if Chizu-sempai had simply woken her up instead. Of course, that kind of selfish thinking only served to make it worse. To make up for lost time Setsuna decided the quickest way to travel was by leaping in her transformed state. This had the dual benefit of allowing her to move faster than a bicycle and avoid traffic as well as keep her on her toes in case something went bad. Of course, there was reason she'd relegated her morning routine to indoor only and Mahou Senshi Kurocho, powerful warrior though she was, did not sport the necessary gear for a Japanese winter climate. This was simple enough to overcome with a bit of winter gear added to the outfit but Setsuna had curiously discovered that most of her winter clothing was designed to mix and match with magical girl costumes. For anyone who wasn't a fashion-conscious magical superhero, this would be a perfectly normal thing not to have. ![]() Which is why, though a few minutes late, a chilly-looking but slightly mismatched magical girl showed up on the platform, searching the platforms nervously for any sign of her sempai. Though it was difficult to spot any single person with all the winter clothing keeping people bundled together, the tiny floating dragon was a bit of a giveaway and Setsuna nervously made her way in its master's direction. Chizu-sempai was usually pretty intimidating on her own, but from the looks of it she was already surrounded by other people who had all no doubt come out to help her. Of course the uncomfortable part was that most, if not all of them looked like adults... The magical girl felt pretty small as it was in front the powerful air-elemental but with one sensei she recognized a few others that looked slightly familiar Setsuna couldn't escape the feeling of inferiority building in her chest. Was she experienced enough for something like this? "C-Chizu-sempai...I'm sorry for taking so long...thank you all for being so patient though, I hope I haven't inconvenienced you all too much..." Setsuna bowed fairly low, making to keep her legs stiff and shoulders proper to seem as apologetic as possible. |

Chizu leaned towards Nickle as he placed his arm around her shoulder, still frowning as she looked up at him. "No, not talking about you," she said, frowning slightly as she thought about how Kaito had gone to Nickle to get information about her. He had no right...no, she refused to spend the entire trip letting Kaito affect her this much. Assuming, of course, that he showed up. She jumped as she heard Lavender's voice, turning her head towards her teacher. Her eyes widened. Lavender had said that she would take care of the Tower for her, but what was she doing here. "S-Sensei?" she asked. She got over her initial surprise as Lavender explained, smiling slightly at her teacher. "It'll be good to have you with us," she said. The next person to arrive was Spike. She nodded at him as he said hi, deciding to introduce everyone when they all got there so she didn't need to keep repeating herself. Damon showed up next, looking like he had just woken up on the wrong side of the bed. Not that she could blame him, really. She still felt the same way when she thought about the situation. Finally, there was Setsuna. She turned towards her roommate. "It's alright," she said. "Don't worry about it." Her eyes suddenly narrowed, and she turned to the person that was walking towards them. "I hope I'm not late," said a brown-haired guy as he walked towards the group. Nickle would recognize him as the boy who had said that his name was Kai Hoshino, while Damon and Setsuna would clearly recognize him as Kaito. He nodded at Chizu, who glared at him, turning to face the platform. The orange characters on the screen hanging over the platform reminded them that their train would be arriving in about two minutes. "Quick introductions before we get on the train," she said, turning towards the group. It would be quicker if she handled this herself. She pointed at Nickle. "That's Nickle Ryuko. He's the electromancy instructor at the Elemancer Tower, he owns Abenobashi Arcade, and he's also my boyfriend." She gestured at Damon. "Damon Ark--shadowmancer, shadowmancy and photomancy instructor at the Elemancer Tower. He's a senior at Hyakuji, and he's my best friend." She paused. "One of my best friends," she amended. "You all know Lavender-sensei. That's Setsuna Higashi. She's my roommate, and a sophomore at Hyakuji. And last, that's Spike Ito. He's a freshman." She glanced at Aether, who nodded at her. Chizu turned back towards the group, indicating the white dragon that hovered over her shoulder. "This is Aether. He's a wind elemental, and he's about...one thousand years old?" Aether nodded slowly. Chizu glanced at him again before looking back at the group. "Apparently, he's been following my family around since the first aeromancer in it." She didn't mention Kaito, turning around to face the tracks and wait for the train. From behind her, she heard Kaito clear his throat. "Kaito Asakawa," he said. "I'm the one that brought Chizu-san the information about her father." He didn't say anything more than that, and for that, Chizu was grateful. She folded her arms, looking up as the train pulled into the station. Edited by Chizu, Jan 1 2011, 10:02 PM.

Nickle raised his hand in greeting to everyone after Chizu made the introductions. He looked over everyone in the group, giving Lavender and Damon a friendly pat on the back each, after all it had been a while since he'd seen either of them properly. He then looked over Setsuna and spike. They seemed nice enough, young and maybe a bit anxious, but that wasn't gonna hinder a Hyakuji kid, that was for sure. His eyes came to rest on Kaito however and didn't leave. As the train pulled into the station, Nickle moved towards the boy, leaving Chizu's side. "Good to see you again, Usotsuki-san." It was strange, since having remerged with Kinclex, Nickle had taken up a habit of giving people nicknames. However, this one, although he said it very sweetly, couldn't hide the undercurrent of emotions that came with it. After all, no good vibes are really sent out when you call someone a Liar. Nickle placed a hand on Kaito's shoulder and leaned in to whisper something in his ear, "Although I've only ever heard about you, now that I know your face I'm not gonna forget it." With a small squeeze on his shoulder, Nickle turned and made for the train door. "Alrighty! Let's go save Papa-san!" said Nickle, flashing a big grin before entering the train. His head then stuck out comically, "We are gonna talk inside right? I mean this is the train we're suppossed to catch right?...Right?" |

Setsuna could almost feel herself shrinking back into her shoes as Chizu introduced everyone. She'd of course heard of Nickle around the school and from her roommate directly but it seemed almost surreal to finally meet him. It was like that when you were always hearing stories about someone without really knowing what they look like or seeing them in real life. He did sort of match the picture she'd had for him in her head, but it seemed strange that someone like Chizu-sempai would date a man who was frankly just a bit silly. Of course, maybe that was what she needed...wasn't that what Jameson was trying to tell her before? Finding someone who could give you what you need? Setsuna certainly wouldn't say something like this out loud, but even though she greatly admired her roommates strength, lightening up a little probably would do her some good. Nickle seemed like someone who could do that too. The other two seemed like really impressive people, the handsome and adult-looking Damon whom she'd already met before, if briefly. She hadn't really known then that someone who had so much trouble with basketball would also be such a practiced magical instructor for the Elemancers. It seemed Chizu-sempai really got around in that place if three of her closest friends were members. Setsuna had never really met Lavender-sensei before but having heard rumors and seen her around the halls it was easy to see how someone gained such a reputation. She was beautiful and slender, an athletic person no doubt with a sweet disposition. Part of her couldn't help but feel a little jealous. Not that she had anything against Hongo-sensei but sometimes he could be just a little...intense. Scary intense on certain days. Somehow being introduced as a Sophomore after hearing all the other titles handed out to everyone made her feel even more inferior. Ah, but the last boy...a gruff and juvenile looking person Chizu casually introduced as Spike. Setsuna was a bit surprised that he was a freshman and did feel a bit perkier knowing someone here was at least younger than she was. Still, there was little doubt in her mind that if someone were to ask which one of them was older, the taller, more athletic looking punk would beat her every time. Why would Chizu hang out with someone like that anyway? Setsuna didn't want to judge him just by looking but he really seemed like a mean kind of person. But then maybe he just reminded her of people from her past. She wouldn't question her roommate's choice in friends though, she was too straight-laced to make friends with unsavory people. Setsuna didn't say a word as the train pulled up, only covering her mouth with a tentative hand as she nervously shuffled into the car with the rest of the human traffic. She hadn't the faintest clue what they'd be in for, but she couldn't think of a cause more worth the dangers that might lay ahead. |

"Well met, all of you," Lavender greeted as Spike, Nickle and Damon joined them soon after, giving Nickle a smile as the electromancer gave both her and Damon a friendly pat on the back; he appeared good as always. And then there was Setsuna; Lavender recognized the face from the student roster and from the fact that she'd seen her meet up with Zander during the summer festival - albeit looking a little different. Was she cosplaying, or was it some form of transformation? Lavender was curious. "Ah Aether, so we meet at last, face-to-face," Lavender smiled as Chizu introduced Aether after the round of introduction for everyone else so that everyone knew who's who. She'd heard the younger aeromancer speak of the wind elemental after all, and being an aeromancer herself she was needless to say thrilled to meet a genuine elemental for the first time - not really - there were the Aeons whom she was introduced to during her induction into the Elemancer Guild, but Lavender was certain that in spite of being both elemental beings of wind, Aether and Valefor belonged to different races; if elementals held racial differences, that is. But like meeting people, meeting a different elemental is always a new experience. The air grew heavy as the one who was introduced as Kaito showed up, as Chizu acknowledged his arrival with a stern glare, as Lavender pulled down her sunglasses to affix an emerald-eyed gaze on the young man - so this is the guy who killed Chizu's sister? He seemed pretty harmless as far as looks went, but Lavender wasn't one to judge based on appearances. Of course, if he attempted any form of treachery he would be sorry, and Lavender's gaze said it all before the amethyst-haired aeromancer straightened her head and pushed her sunglasses back up the bridge of her nose as the train arrived, nodding at Nickle's statement to get going as she swung her backpack over her shoulder, looking back to see if the others were following, before boarding the train. |

Spike watched as the three remaining in Chizu's group arrived. Then she started on her introduction. Damon was eerie. And Setsuna looked like she was dressed in some strange mix between a cosplay and normal winter clothes, not that Spike had any right to judge the way other people dressed. And the other guy. As everyone else was introduced he nodded along. Nickle was her boyfriend and had electric moves. Damon was her best friend, had shadow powers and was good at taking pictures. Lavender was their teacher and Spike had no idea what she could do. Setsuna was her roommate... He was pretty sure he could remember most of that. And he was a freshman. He felt a bit out of place with that introduction. After she introduced her familiar the other guy introduced himself. Spike didn't really care about Kaito until he mentioned he was the one that brought news of Chizu's father. He clenched his fist at the comment but before he acted on his will to strike Nickle confronted him. If Chizu's boyfriend was going after him then Spike would keep out of the way. That was the sort of thing a man should do. Spike glanced at Setsuna, who seemed nervous about everything. He supposed that people could have whatever attitude they wanted. After a bit he fell in and followed after the group to board the train. He wasn't much for introspection so it came down to just doing it. "Alright. Let's get on board." |

Damon didn't respond at all to Nickle's pat, save for a very halfhearted "Mrm." He listened on as Chizu introduced everyone. Lavender and Nickle he knew, of course. That was a given. Setsuna, her roommate, whom he'd heard of but never really met. Next was Spike, her Kohai of the year. He'd heard of him as well. Then...Kaito If looks could kill, Kaito's entire family line would have exploded. And then caught on fire. Even if Kaito had reformed, the fact was that Damon didn't want to be within 40 miles of him. The sole fact that he may be able to save Chizu's father was the sole reason he wasn't threatening him to leave the city. Damon also stepped onto the train, arms crossed. "What exactly do we know?" He asked, wanting to try to at least to pretend to plan something. |

Kaito tensed at Nickle's words, looking at the other man and nodding once. Nickle was smiling, but Kaito could see the threat hidden underneath that smile. He knew that Nickle wasn't exactly trying to hide it either. Somehow, the smile made it seem even more threatening than if he had come out fighting, as Chizu was known to do. Damon's glare was something he expected, but there was still something unsettling in the sheer amount of hatred in it. He found himself shivering once as he followed them onto the train. Damon Ark and Nickle Ryuko. Two people that were much more dangerous than they appeared to be. Combine that with an enemy that he knew like the back of his hand, and knew very well how much she hated him, and he was starting to think that his so-called allies in this were scarier than their potential enemies. ~ * ~ * ~ Aether inclined his head towards Lavender as she greeted him. "I can say the same for you," he said. "I was with Chizu the first time she met you, but we haven't spoken." He respected the woman. She was a good aeromancer, and anyone that could hold Chizu's attention was usually somebody worthy of respect. Chizu watched the two of them, then watched Nickle and Kaito. She couldn't hear what they were saying, but she knew Nickle and she knew Kaito, for completely different reasons. It wasn't hard to guess. She looked at Damon, but he clearly wasn't happy with this whole thing. She would talk to him, but they didn't exactly have time to talk alone. So she followed them onto the train. She placed her bag in the compartment above their seats and motioned for them to come to one of the dining or lounge cars, so that they could sit face to face. When they were all sitting--Chizu between Nickle and Damon and Kaito sitting by the window next to Setsuna, Kaito looked up at her. She stared at him for a moment before nodding, folding her arms and letting him explain first. "About twelve years ago, Chizu's father and my father fought in a fight to the death," he said. "My father came home saying that he killed Itsuki Yamamura, and for a while, everyone believed him. He eventually died for it, when Chizu-san's older sister came by to take her revenge." He spoke with his voice emotionless, his hands clasped together in front of him. A skilled person, however, would be able to make out the pain in his eyes. Even after six years, the memory of Hiroshi's death still haunted him. Chizu tried not to notice it, because seeing it reminded her of her own sister's death and reminded her of how similar she and Kaito had once been. "Recently I found a diary entry from my father explaining that this wasn't the case," he said. "Itsuki did not die, but apparently fell into a portal at the shrine they were fighting in. After doing some research on the subject, I determined that the shrine was located at Itsuki's hometown, and that the world he was sent in is apparently rumored to be some sort of world of endless battle. After arriving at Hyakuji, the first thing I did was consult with the elemental Aether." Aether nodded from his position on top of the table, clearing his throat. "Kaito Asakawa came to me and asked me if I knew where Itsuki lived. At this point, I hadn't been watching the family, but I recognized the shrine. It is my belief that Itsuki Yamamura never left his ancestral home, and lived in the same town that the elemental bloodline was founded in." He paused for a moment. "The same region, at least." "It's a bit out there," said Chizu, filling in for Aether. "...After this train, we've still got a bus to catch. It's up in the mountains." Aether nodded. "Yama and mura after all. Mountain village." "Once we get there, we'll find a place to stay for the night and head for the shrine in the morning," said Chizu. She frowned. "I've never been there, but Aether seems to know his way around." Never been there. Except for once. If it was her hometown and the town that Itsuki lived in before he left, then she had lived in it at least one time in her life. She was born there. For the first time in sixteen years, Chizu was returning to her birthplace. She shivered slightly at the thought, wondering exactly what she would find there. |

The rhythmic rumble from the track with the occassional jolt seemed to relax Nickle a bit while he was sitting on the train. He'd heard all about Kaito from Chizu on various occassions. He knew his reputation, he knew what he'd done. The only thing he hadn't known was what he looked like. If he had, then he'd probably followed him from the arcade to see what he'd been up to. Still, he couldn't be angry with him entirely. Nickle looked and Chizu, his face impassive and not showing any real emotion. This must have been something for her. Her whole life, she'd lived practically alone. Having lost her mother while she was still practically a baby and her father soonafter and then her sister several years later. That wasn't easy for anyone. Lord knows Nickle knew the feeling when the darkness had taken Celestial and Sugar away. However, now there was a chance for Chizu to have that family life again. To meet the father she'd told so many stories of. Nickle had very rarely seen Chizu smile honestly with all her heart. He still remembered the photo in her dorm room, a tiny baby with a jubilant smile reaching out for the camera that took the photo. Nickle had a feeling, that once this was done, he'd be able to see a smile like that on her face again. There was something else too. Nickle was about to encounter not only Chizu's father, but her hometown as well. She was always so guarded, not around him as much any more obviously, but the fact remained that she was letting some of the people closest to her into her earliest, deepest past. Nickle put an arm around Chizu's shoulder comfortingly, sending a bit of his power into her to warm her up. He'd seen the slight shiver, and although he could only guess it was more than the cold causing it, he just wanted to let her know she was here. Nickle looked at both Chizu and Aether, "Quick question. Chizu's hometown, what's it like?" Nickle was only asking because if it was a clan village, they most likely held tightly onto their traditional ways and for the most part, and maybe even to a degree shunned technological advancement. Nickle was just trying to ascertain what was ahead of him. |

The group boarded, entering into what was probably one of the lounge or dining cars - with the way the seats are arranged - every two rows, the seats are facing each other. Chizu, Nickle and Damon took one seat, with the aeromancer sitting between the electromancer and the shadowmancer. Kaito, Setsuna and Lavender took the other, with Kaito taking the window seat next to Setsuna, who was in turn in-between Kaito and Lavender. The older aeromancer took off her sunglasses, folding the frame and tucking it into her pocket as Chizu stared at Kaito for a while before allowing him to begin. And at the heart of it was a family feud, according to Kaito. Lavender figured Chizu had heard it beforehand, and Kaito was retelling the story for those who hadn't heard. It didn't go unnoticed by Lavender, but the older aeromancer could pick up the pained look in Kaito's eyes as he spoke. Chizu must've noticed it too, for the younger aeromancer was trying not to make eye contact. Chizu, Kaito and herself - they weren't too different from one another, Lavender thought. She too had never had much memories of her hometown in Edinburgh, and the family she'd grown up with were Achilles-sensei, Dr. Möbius and the rest of the OASIS staff. Lavender nodded as Chizu mentioned that after the train ride they'd still need to catch a bus ride, seeing how the village was located in the highlands. Yamamura - that was Chizu's family name, and her hometown lives up to the namesake, which led Lavender to strongly believe that it was probably a clan village, just like those still commonly found in Chinese and Japanese countrysides, which also meant they probably preserved many ancient traditions. So in addition to helping Chizu save her father, they'd also be making a jaunt to the countryside. As much as she loved glitzy shopping malls and neon-lit streets, there was always a part of Lavender that needed to get away from the buzzing urban lifestyle for a while and make quaint retreats into more rustic environments. So as Nickle asked his question Lavender merely looked at the electromancer and then nodded, before looking back at Chizu and Aether, indicating she also had similar questions as him. |
