[Sunshine 60 Building, Tokyo: Sunset]

Posted Image

It was a typical day as far as everyone knew currently inside the Sunshine 60 building. Shoppers were happily browsing for goods, the restaurants were packed and office workers checked the clock patiently as the end of their work day was arriving. However, two things secretly went on around them.

First, beneath Sunshine 60 itself boiled an intense well of dark energy; having been routed there by The Hellfire Club. Second, among the ranks of shoppers on the lower floors existed several members of Arcadia's Wind Division disguised as every day people. "Understood," a man spoke into his cellphone lowering it and clicking it off as he placed it back inside the drab coat he was wearing. In truth, it was a Wind Division officer answering the telepathic link all the while ensuring it seemed normal to those around.

Sunshine 60 was set to explode into supernatural activity and the Wind Team was supposed to begin evacuation early. Slowly, the Operative slipped through the crowd working his way to a fire alarm. As the warning began to blare out, Wind Operatives spread out among many floors began to add to the frenzy shouting about fires to ensure the threat was considered real. A few even went as far as to covertly cast low level fire magic which could be easily controlled but to onlookers the idea was clear; they had to get out of the building.

If they were soon enough everything would be fine. Though kept a secret except for those of the highest priorities, the Japanese Government was well aware of Arcadia and its operations and, when needed and reasonable, would consent to working in tandem. Once the building was free from innocents it would be called in as a false alarm or drill leaving the Fire and Prime Teams alone to handle things without local fire or law enforcement getting in the way.

As people began to rush and flee for exits the portal from Arcadia opened on the first floor covertly as the members of the Prime and Fire Teams appeared within the crowd. People were too busy to take note of them and those that did merely wrote them off as goths or cosplayers. Lives were at stake; there was no time to worry about what some freaks were wearing. Pushing through the crowd Hiro Tsukasa reached a small clearing next a fountain and motioned for the rest to follow.

"Do you guys feel it?" he shouted so the rest could hear over the screams and other sounds of fright, "Really strong spiritual pressure from the top of the building. The person behind this is probably waiting up there." It might have been hard for the newer recruits in Arcadia but with a bit of focus the feeling was there. Immense power... mixed with a sense of dread.

"It seems we were lucky and got things moving before the leyline's effects start," he added glancing around carefully, "For now let's focus on helping people get out. Look for people stuck in stores, or worse fallen down in all this mess. Ultimately, our goal will be the Observation Deck on the 60th floor so if that equates into moving up some floors in the process that shouldn't be a problem."

Clarissa exited the portal and quickly gathered what she could from the surroundings. Hiro's plan was already into fruition and the evacuation had already been quite underway. Following Hiro, Clarissa made her way to the fountain and listened to his words intently and could indeed sense an intense powerful force above them. People were still fleeing around them and their prime directive was to rid this area of the blight and make sure the innocents remained unharmed and are safely evacuated in a swift manner. Clarissa held her Grimoire for a moment before taking a deep breath.

"Sixty floors...well...best get started then.", Clarissa said with a calming smile to her teammates and Hiro before quickly heading off into crowd to aid in the evacuation.

With a calm yet loud voice, Clarissa was asking people to leave swiftly and was helping up people who had been pushed down and trampled more or less as the event unfolded. She was working her way to the east staircase though and had finally made it there. Clarissa was a pretty active girl but this was going to be some serious Cardio for sure. With a small sigh and a smile, she pushed open the stairwell door and decided to charge up the steps.

"Jeez...First mission and it had to be up sixty flights. I just hope I don't make it up there alone...", Clarissa said with a small bit of worry behind her words.

She trusted in her magic and her abilities but what she was sensing on the top of the Sunshine building seemed something out of her league. She couldn't hesitate though. They needed to get this over with as soon as they possibly could. If Arcadia let this get out of hand with hesitation then who knows what could happen. Clarissa kind of wished she got to know her teammates before hand though to get to know them in and out of battle. Their powers were probably all different she assumed and that could make working as a team spontaneous and hard to do strategically. For now, she was on her own even if for a moment and she needed to make the best of it.

"Alright...Let's go...", she finished to herself before charging up the steps in her ankle high boots.

Hajime exited the portal slowly and carefully, to find that they have arrived in the thick midst of the evacuation already underway. It took him a few seconds to adjust his bearings and to the thronging crowd before as one, he and the others followed Hiro pushing through the crowd further into the building’s interior.

"Do you guys feel it?" He hear Hiro shout to them over the din, "Really strong spiritual pressure from the top of the building. The person behind this is probably waiting up there."

A long time ago, Hajime would have just smiled stupidly to himself as he had no way any sort of supernatural senses or powers, relying on the innate powers of Juunishi Animals to fill in the gap. But having awakened the Agito in him, his perception of his surroundings have changed, and he was very much one with the supernatural, though by other means.

“I don’t feel so good.” Hajime commented with a grimace. “I’m going to have to get use to feeling things like this.”

After Hiro gave them the plan, Hajime turned to the rest of the Fire Team to put them into groups so that they can at least support each other if they encounter anything along the way and not be in a bind if they get caught or something. Unfortunately, before he and anyone else can do anything, one of their numbers, Clarissa, if he remembered correctly, confidently went off on her own.

Not to be deterred at the moment by one wayward member, Hajime studied the remaining members of the Fire Team selected for this mission. All new faces, and with abilities he wasn’t sure of. He rather not leave Clarissa alone by herself but he certainly can’t let these three go on their own.

“You three, stick together and start from the west side of the building.” Hajime said, gesturing to Lynn, Ikki and Seth after deciding on an alternative. “Report to any of us if you encounter anything you can’t handle. I’ll follow Clarissa. Now, go!”

After some time, mostly of tracking her down and eyeing her from afar, Hajime finally caught up with Clarissa. “Excuse me, but what part of ‘working as part of a team’ did you not get?” Hajime called out to her from behind, glaring and smiling at her at the same time from behind the 'Skullman' helmet of his. “You have no idea the kind of mess we can get involved in and casualties do mount up high when we start acting solo.”

"Excellent work, Wind Division!" Lavender transmitted to the intel team that had already been deployed in the building as undercover agents before the Prime and Fire Teams. It was good to see that her Bavarian Fire Drill plan was executed this nicely as the Arcadian operatives were teleported in amidst the fleeing crowds and ringing alarms.

"Do you guys feel it?" Hiro asked, shouting over the din. "Really strong spiritual pressure from the top of the building. The person behind this is probably waiting up there."

"Aye, Hiro-san... it looks like some bad ju-ju is at work here, and we don't want these people to be around when it hits!" Lavender replied as she made her way to the fountain, checking out her Mentor's Stone - which was displaying an anomalous reading, changing its colors at random and vibrating like crazy until the aeromancer decided that she's had about enough and 'deactivated' the artifact, returning it back to its neutral state as a purple crystal. It didn't even need E'S sensitive devices to detect, as the aeromancer felt it herself as a sickly, oppressive feeling that made her feel a little nauseous.

"Hajime-kun's right," Lavender chimed in. "We'll stick in small groups to check the building for any civilians that have yet to evacuate - be careful, I suspect that in addition to our own undercover agents the Hellfire Club might have also planted their own sleeper agents amongst the civilians. So the order stands - approach civilians with discretion, and stay in a team at all times... and most importantly, report if you find anything unusual!"

"Tsukasa-san, I'm going to check out the guard room - if we can gain access to the building's surveillance network we can get a clearer picture of where there may still be civilians left behind," Lavender transmitted a message to Hiro. If Sunshine 60 were like any modern building in Tokyo it would no doubt sport a sophisticated surveillance network of closed-circuit TV cameras, motion sensors and other security devices, all of which are no doubt monitored at a control station in the guard room. This would allow the aeromancer to get a good idea of the building's layout, and from there she could act as Mission Control, directing Arcadian operatives to where there are still civilians and warning them of suspicious activity within the building.

He had brought the IXA system with him, as per Jameson's recommendation over Excalibur (for some reason). He stepped out of the portal, only to jump back in to avoid being trampled by the oncoming crowd. From the opening he peered around to find himself in the middle of a pandemonium. People bustling against each other to rescue themselves from the non-existent fire. Not that they've been fooled or anything. Well... they have... but for a good reason. He carefully timed his exit from the portal and made his way to the inner part of the building, following Hiro and reaching a fountain for a pit stop and some task briefing. From what he could gather (and from his own deduction, which is pretty crappy if you ask me) there's going to be some sort of a supernatural time bomb set to blow off any time soon. And they're evacuating everyone out of the building before engaging the source.

Sounds simple enough. He's done fire drills back at home. Trouble is, the school back at home only have about a few hundred people. Right now, there's thousands and thousands of people to direct and lead to the exit.

This is not going to be easy.

Nodding to Hajime's order, he went ahead to the west side, pausing a little to allow the others to catch up. By the way, Hiro said something about feeling... dread or some sickly feeling or something... weird. He can't feel anything.

Urgh...

"V? What's up?"

It's strange... All tingly. I feel all... It's... delicious...

"Uhm... V? Are you alright...?"
Seth felt uneasy. Even though they do not share mind, V's voice gave everything away. The was a hint of glee, trace of excitement, it's not obvious, but you can tell. V was feeling alive. More alive than he had ever felt all hi-

"V! You're ignoring me!"

Wh-huh? Wait, what? Who's ignoring when?

Seth gave a small unnoticeable sigh of relief.

Ikki made his way through the portal that lead to the inside of the building. He let out a soft sigh as he stepped foot in the building. It had been awhile since he had been in Tokyo, and to him this was a homecoming under horrible circumstances. He gripped Masamune tightly as he looked around at the people running trying to escape the fire they thought was engulfing the building.

" Under.....stood...." Ikki spoke to Hajime's orders, but was soon cut off by the spiritual pressure. For Ikki, someone who was greatly in tuned with everything spiritual, this was like having your head held under water till you couldn't breath. Ikki grasped his throat trying to force air into his lungs.

" Ikki? What's wrong? Ikki!!" Kal yelled at Ikki from within his head. He grunted as Ikki fell to his knees vomiting. " Crap! Looks like I have to take over!" Kal yelled as Ikki's eyes became glazed over, but soon took on a red color. Ikki stood to his feet coughing slightly.

" Kal calm down...I'm ok now. I feel great!" Ikki mumbled to himself as he looked around. He then turned his gaze to the ceiling. " Something yummy is at the top of this tower....and I can't wait to fight it...." He said out loud as he turned back to the group. Was this Ikki? The odds of that where slim, but whatever was using Ikki as its medium was excited. " Sorry bout that. Must be a stomach virus. I'm ok now....let's get moving." He said with a large grin on his face.

Clarissa looked back at the transformed version of Hajime and nodded a slight apology. She wasn't used to being in a team and she just sprung into action but that was no excuse for her actions. He was right, she had no idea what could be causing such a reading at the top floor and she shouldn't have gone off by herself. She just didn't want to fail Hiro or Arcadia on her first mission and let her nerves and enthusiasm get the best of her.

"I apologize...I shouldn't have run off. I promise Ill behave.", Clarissa said with a playful smile hinting she'd only "behave" during the mission.

She felt a sense of comfort that the leader of the fire division for this mission was alongside her now. She wasn't sure what to expect and Hiro chose him based on his talents and experience so he must be good at what he does. His attire was interesting and Clarissa couldn't wait to see what he was capable of...she just wished it didn't have to be in a real life battle situation like this.

"So what now fearless leader? We climb and stop on random floors to see who's left behind or we just charge onward and crush us some baddies?", she said, still charging up the steps in front of her but this time alongside her ally.

Clarissa may sound like she had a carefree attitude and wasn't nervous at all but deep inside she was a mess of emotions. Nervous, scared, anxious...all of the above and much more was circling about inside her as she clenched her Grimoire for comfort as they headed up the stairs. She just hoped they accomplished their mission and everyone made it out of here alive...unharmed would be wonderful but she had to think realistically. She was going to get tossed around a bit...she had a feeling this was the case at least...

"I'm game for whatever...", she finished with a smile, looking at Hajime for a moment.

"I guess that means...we start making our way up then, huh?" Lynn looked apprehensively upwards, standing beside Ikki, now dressed in her distressingly gaudy Arcadia Uniform which was proving, quite surprisingly, extremely easy to run in compared to the outfits she usually wore on stage. It was, admittedly, a well put together mixture of form and substance. Still, with this much for, no amount of substance could have ever possibly made it an even concoction. Lynn closed one eye and looked through the structure to search for auras and sure enough something big and mean sat waiting at tower's apex. Ikki certainly had a quick knack for sensing that kinda thing. She'd have to work on her divining to keep up.

Still, now was the time to show leadership and good sense under pressure. "Um, so then Ikki you take uh...point and lead us up the staircase." If action movies were anything to go on, then point meant the front. Or so she hoped anyway. "Seth, you can cover my back...I suppose." It was by this time Lynn was noticing that both of her partners seemed to have the off-putting hobby of looking uncomfortable and talking to themselves. Either that was really really common among other types of magicians or that Haji-whatever-guy had a really great sense of humor. "Actually, I guess the staircase might still be flooded with people...This isn't a real fire so the elevators might still be working."

Of course, this assumed that they were supposed to perform any kind of independent action at all! Lynn felt a bit annoyed at now having studied up more on Arcadian basic procedures but decided it was definitely for the best if they at least tried. She would lead them to a soaring victory, prove her worth a magician of merit and honor and leadership! "W-what does everyone else think?" She said nervously. Vegas represent.

All at once things drastically changed within the Sunshine 60 building. Hajime and Clarissa's rush up the stairs seemed clear from any people still filtering out and the flood of people on the first floor was starting to thin out. However, all at once everything went to hell. The three on the first floor didn't get a chance to see where it started from all their frantic movements but all at once an ear shattering scream tore throughout the first floor.

Those turning to look in time would see a man frozen in place with sickly looking hands clamped around his skull in a death grip. The hands twisted and pulled and as the man's cries for help twisted into something almost inhuman his head was torn directly from the body sending forth a stream of blood to the disgust of those viewing. This sent the stragglers of those evacuating into a blind frenzy as they pushed and clawed harder to reach the exits.

All at once, as if they had appeared from nothingness, the first floor was now flooded with the undead. Several fell to the man's body and began to shove and grunt fighting over what pieces of flesh they could get at and still more began to lurch towards the Arcadians and the people escaping behind them. The only clear path at this point not flooding with zombies was where Hajime had instructed: the west area and ultimately the west side's staircase.

For Clarissa and Hajime, as they turned the corner at the 5th floor stop in the stairwell, they were suddenly greeted with the next set of stairs going up flooded side to side with the undead. If they bothered to double back and check the stairwell below was equally flooded with zombies leaving their only exit before being flanked on both sides to enter the 5th floor office area. Why hadn't they heard their approach? It was as if they simply materialized from thin air.

Just as Lavender reached the guard room she would be surprised to find that the second she opened the door to enter there was nothing but a bright flash; and Lavender vanished from sight. Likewise, Hiro began to cast an initial spell to thin out the horde of undead on the first floor but as the first word exited his lips he also vanished in a bright flash.

Seth, Ikki and Lynn were now abandoned on the first floor with the undead masses closing in with every second that slipped away. Hajime and Clarissa were also facing a similar situation having only the option of trying to muscle through going up or down (and risk being pincered by waves of undead) or exiting into the 5th floor office. What was most alarming, however, was that while the two groups could clearly contact the other via their Arcadian Links any attempt to contact Lavender or Hiro returned nothing but static.

The two groups would have to act fast if they intended to survive and avoid being overwhelmed. Even the strongest of powers paled in effectiveness when the numbers were 100 to 1.

[Sunshine 60: 60th Floor, Observation Deck]

The bright light that had blinded Lavender and Hiro, separately, finally dimmed as the two found themselves standing side by side at the 60th floor Observation Deck. However, several things were instantly amiss. The entrances had all been boarded over and the windows covered over in various newspapers and other magazines pitching the room into complete darkness save several candles set up in random areas.

"W-What happened!?" Hiro exclaimed in shock as he instantly began to concentrate and try to contact the others below, "Huh... something on this floor is jamming the Arcadian Link."

All across the walls and the paper-covered windows were written things in strange symbols and languages; some of which seemed alien even to Hiro. However, what was most alarming about their new situation was the figure that stepped forth from the darkness of the far end of the room.

"Greetings," Rasputin spoke in a low tone and a slight laugh reassured the duo were most likely disoriented, "We learned quite a bit about your Arcadia while the False Armitage was there. You two.... are what is considered Prime Division, correct? The top of command? It is only proper then that we leaders converse while our flock plays below."

The same feeling as during the Mansion Invasion began to pervade the air. A deep sense of dread and fear as if every moment in Rasputin's presence held some unknown being slowly eating away the very sanity. Hiro Tsukasa winced slightly and took a deep breath making it clear to Lavender that even he was effected by this ability. He wanted to answer Rasputin but he was trying to clear his mind first and think more clearly.

"We're playing a game you see," Rasputin continued, "You 'leaders' are going to get some information from me. The payment for that is the game going on below. A game of survival with each side betting something. The payment is paid in blood. Either the blood of your five or the blood of two of my subordinates. Realistically thinking, you have a chance to come out ahead in this situation. Given... it's a slim chance..."

====

[Sunshine 60: 50th Floor, Food Court]

"This is what always happens to us, man!" Isaac Crowley exclaimed in frustration as he rocked the food court chair he was sitting in back and forth keeping it carefully balanced on two legs. The brothers had arrived long beforehand in the day and infiltrated Sunshine 60 unknown. To those around them they just appeared to be a pair of businessmen all dressed up for a meeting.

"Be patient," Edward answered his younger brother as he continued to pace back and forth slowly, "We need to perform at our best. You heard what the Master said. If we can't achieve victory over just five of their brats then we're not worthy to be members of the Club."

"Shit," Isaac exclaimed with a laugh, "We took on a whole army of them that one time with Tsukasa present and had the upper hand. I'm not worried about a bunch of newbies."

"Just keep focused once they're here, alright?" Edward answered in a stern almost commanding tone.

"Yeah, yeah," Isaac waved his hand as he nodded in agreement, "But you mean if they get here. We only really have to fight if they can make their way up here past all the chaos below..."

"UUUUUUUUUAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Wh-what was-" Seth turned around to the direction of the ear splitting scream. Only to find a horrible sight meeting his eyes.

CRACK!!!

Skeletal hands twisting a civilians head around.

SNAP!!!

The man's knees fell to the ground.

CRRRAASSKKK!!!!

His head was torn off. Completely from the body. Blood spurted everywhere.

Dead. The man was dead. His body fell to the floor, headless, lying in a pool of his own blood. Seth...

He clapped his hand to his mouth. He fell to sitting to the ground, his legs was shaking so much it was unable to support the weight of the body that it had been supporting all its life. Not only his legs, but his entire body. He eyed the scene with the look of terror on his face, his hand's trembling, not to mention very close to tears.

This isn't just some scary movie. It's the real deal. Someone just died. Murdered. Right in front of his eyes.

And the way he died did not hel-

"YOU IDIOT!!! GET UP!!!"

The previously immobile body of Seth Rouga suddenly sprang into action, spinning around once and throwing a powerful hardened high-speed heel kick right into the gut of one of them that got a little bit too close for comfort. "BOY, DO YOU WANT TO DIE OR SOMETHING?! PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER, THEY'RE JUST THE WALKING DEAD!!!" Like he actually have any right to say that. He knew, the fact that there's zombies walking about won't bother Seth a bit. It's like the time when they had to go against the Shadowborns with Leo. No. It was the sight of a man being murdered that took his spirit crashing down. The taking of someone's life, the man was dead in a split second. Just like that. V was unaffected, being a microscopic murderer himself, but Seth...

"This sucks..."
V said, looking around the whole plaza. Here and there, up, down, left, right, front, living-dead everywhere. There was not a place they could step on without being horded by them-

...Oh?

The west side. Fairly empty.

"Bingo. HEY!!! Bird-brain!!!"
He yelled at Ikki, "Don't bother trying to beat them! We're completely outnumbered! Hold them off until everyone escapes then head straight to the west side! We're going up through there... OH NO YOU DON'T!!!" V shouted angrily, and slammed a hardened foot hard to the ground, knocking up a few concrete slabs into the air. He then twisted around, kicking all of them right into the group of zombies that managed to slip very close to the escaping civilians. "Damn... we need to stop the source or this will never end," he said, eying the infinite amount of zombies lurching closer and closer towards them. "Let's go. ... Here, princess...!" V said mockingly, picking up Lynn Monroe who was wearing a 'distressingly gaudy' Arcadia Uniform up with ease, eying her with the look of annoyance. For some reason, he doesn't think she could fight her way against a wall of zombies. "Urgh... why the hell am I doing this..." He crouched down, and with ATP forced down to his legs, he jumped over the sea of zombies, using their heads as foothold, making his way towards the west side, the staircase, and ultimately, up.

" Huh what the?" Ikki stated as he turned around looking at the source of the scream. It was a man who was restrained by a pair of hands. As the hands began to twist and jerk, Ikki's heart began to race, but was this still Ikki, or Something else within him? As the man's head was ripped off a grin formed on the face of the young man. As the blood shot in every which direction Ikki licked his lips, but was interrupted by the sight of Seth falling to his knees.

" Get up! Its just a little blood, you mean to tell me you have never seen the blood of an innocent spilled? Kids these days......" Ikki stated as he turned back to the large scale army that had appeared before them. He glanced around trying to gauge the numbers, and even in his current state he didn't have what it takes to deal with an entire army.

" So you want me to deal with em? Fine.... SHOTGUN!!" Ikki yelled as he trusted his fist forward shooting off a large volley of energy knocking the zombies away, and clearing a path to the stairs.

" Run!!" Ikki yelled as he started to fight off a small group of zombies, trying to buy them time to get away, he would follow, as soon as he knew they where safe. Even if he seemed blood thirsty, it was still the real Ikki somewhere inside.

Lynn's careful, if a bit frantic and disorganized planning suddenly seemed to change as the torrent of civilians piling out of the building seemed to slow to a trickle. Though she knew she should take this as a good sign, a part of her was suddenly hit with an almost unnoticeable sensation of disquieted anxiety. But Lynn did notice it and the others seemed to as well, falling quiet just as a man's scream tore through the tall, echoing lobby of the large office building. "W-what the hell was that?" She murmured, now feeling quite a bit more nervous than before. Turning slowly, her eyes fell wide upon the waif-like visage of a man. His expression seemed trapped in a permanent state of twisted, painful horror with his bony, rooted fingers were dug firmly into the sides of his skull, jerking back and forth like a man possessed by terror.

The closer he came to them, the more he twisted and jerked and pulled until the sickening crack of brittle, breaking bones forced a nauseated hand to Lynn's mouth to keep in the contents of her stomach and the audible scream she so desperately desired to emit. It screamed something like she had never heard before, even in studying the ancient horror-terror's that had haunted her magically-induced nightmares for weeks after reading about them. The flesh around his throat began to tear and snap like rubber stretched too thin and sickening blood rushed his wounds like water into a ruptured ship. Lynn slowly backed away, her eyes fixed in morbid trauma to the scene unfolding before her until finally, with a final, vile twist it was wrenched free and vomited blood freely to the floor around it.

Lynn tripped over her own two feet, landing on her butt and shaking violently. That was... the most horrifying thing she'd ever seen before. In movies it was always fake, but that... She felt like she wanted to cry and scream and throw up all at the same time. In her panic, she barely noticed the things coming out of the floors and the walls and from nowhere as they began to stalk the group with a long, slow shuffle and moans like the dead. Reanimated corpses, necromancy. The stench alone was enough to make her skin crawl, but staring them in the face...this was a long way from the pages she'd contented herself with for so long. This was too horrible, she couldn't be here! Looking around as quickly as she could, she spied a janitor's closet close to the front desk as well as the bloodthirsty hoard closing in on them. "Shit...shit shit shit shit SHIT SHIT.."

Lynn began spouting a series of curses, each one slightly louder than the previous as she jerked her head around to spy her magic case. It lay only a few feet away from her and she violently began crawling across the floor towards it, still swearing up a storm with every inch covered. "SHIT! SHIT! SHIT! SHIT!" Her hands fell on the clasps of the case, clicking it open fairly swiftly even with shaking hands. Her staff popped out of it on its own and hovered to her side but Lynn seemed to ignore it and began digging aggressively through the seemingly infinite contents there within. "FUCK!" She shouted suddenly in relief as her fingers seemed to fall upon the item she'd been looking for. Pulling hard, her arm flew from the case with a large curtain between her fingers floating gracefully in tow.

Even as she pulled it out it seemed to unfold itself in the air and begin falling gently over top of Lynn, the case from which it was taken and the walking which sat patiently beside her. Even as it was just barely touching her head, several of the monstrous apparitions were already almost upon her, ravenous fingers outstretched and greedy teeth moaning and chomping in unnatural hungers. She ducked down as far as she could, in tornado drill fashion and her mind went blank. The edges of the curtain touched the ground and in a flash everything around her seemed to go dark. Seth swooped in, grabbing what appeared to be her curtain covered form. The blanket seemed to be pulled away, catching the wind as they ran. As soon as Seth took off it was finally wrenched loose only to see it covering a large dummy dressed in a replica of Lynn's Arcadia uniform.

Inside the nearby janitor's closet, Lynn forced her way as far back as possible on her hands and knees, desperately clutching the walking stick in her hands. She did her best not to make a noise, failing as she might to stifle her quiet sobbing and constant shaking from the flood of fear and adrenaline coursing through her in equal parts. She silently murmured under her breath between heaves and sobs, attempting to calm herself down with seemingly little, but a slowly growing cumulative effect. "The door is locked, the monsters can't get me here, the door is locked, the monsters can't get me here..."

As Ikki and Seth pulled closer to the west side staircase they would eventually take notice that what Seth was lugging along wasn't a rescued Lynn but merely a dummy that she had replaced with herself in fear as she went into hiding. Any attempt to detect her energy would easily pick it up as being still on the first floor due to her fear making it stand out all the more.

For the time being, if they so chose, there was still a chance to turn back and search for her. Though many in number the hordes of undead were slow and most were flooding in towards the exit after the straggling survivors opting for the easiest meals possible. However, if they looked closer they would notice a rather unusual number of zombies gathering at a generic looking door that was probably a janitor's closet or entrance to a service area between stores...

Unfortunately for Lynn she wouldn't get a chance to find calm in her newfound hiding place. Whether it was merely a case of superior senses on these particular undead or if her own fear somehow made her more detectable a large number of the unholy shells began to gather at the door to the Janitor's closet and make attempts to get inside.

For her it would start as a single thud. Then a low dull knocking sound. This knocking would grow and grow until it was a full on cacophony of fists smashing against the janitor's closet door desperately attempting to remove it from their path. The sound grew worse as more undead crowded in towards the door and the scratching of fingernails against the wood began to join the thuds and knocks.

Ultimately, a third sound joined the chaos. Deep low inhuman groans in the tone of humans. It was a sound no normal person should make yet it was undeniably coming from a human. These too grew in volume with the scratching and knocking as if they were desperate cries for survival. At this point the mess of noise was enough that any regular person would begin to rapidly become lost in their fear.

Worst of all, for Lynn, was a fourth sound that joined the rest within a mere minute of the audible torture. It was hard to notice at first, but if she focused for just a moment she could hear the faint sound of wood starting to give and begin to crack...

One does not simply eat one packet of mee goreng
"Urgh...! You're heavier than that bimbo...!" V muttered angrily, as he lugged 'Lynn' up the stairs to get to the floor above. "And why the hell are you so stiff? Don't tell me you're too scared that-"

...

......

......... Instead of Lynn, he was carrying a dummy wearing a distressingly gaudy clothing. And, just for the sake of completing the joke, the place where the face is supposed to be was written the word:

SUCKER

"SAVE THIS FOR PARTIES, DAMMIT!!!!"
V yelled angrily, throwing the dummy to the floor with such force that it shattered to dozens of dismembered limbs. He can't deny the usefulness of such a skill, though. But, damn was the timing was terribly wrong! "Ah, shit... what do I do... what do I do..." V walked around in circles, making sure to utilize the momentary peace time at the west side of the plaza to its fullest. Then he was struck by an inspiration, hitting his palm with his fist. "Oh yea. This uniform supports psychic message or some sort. Now..."

Riiiiing riiiiiiing...!

Riiiiiing riiiiing...!

Riiiiiiiing (quaint indeed) riiiiiiiing...!

Ahem. Just kidding. Anyway, right after remembering the Arcadian Link ability of the uniform, immediately contacted Hajime and Clarissa. "OI!!! Skullman! Magic Woman! There's a whole fucking crapload of zombies crawling all over the first floor! Get down here and help us clean this mess, dammit!" Not very... uhm. Well, that's V. Anyway, he backtracked down the stairs to the first floor, finding himself staring yet again to a sea of zombies. They were closing in, albeit fairly slowly, on the civilians still trying to push through the entrance. "Now where the hell is that Princess... ... OI!!! WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU GONE TO, HUH?!?!" He had connected his mind to hers by means of the Arcadia Link, and was using this chance to send some Voice of Wrath to her head.

"Shit..." He needed to find Lynn, but at the same time the zombie horde closing in on the civilian crowd is not something he can overlook. "HEY, Princess! Tell Bird-Brain where you are so he can find you! And YOU." He turned over to Ikki, presuming he was following him all this time, "Find her, and give her a taste of punishment," V said in a menacing voice, a voice that Seth will never ever ever be caught using.

That done, he grabbed the railing of the stairs and, with strengthened arm, pulled snapped off a clean chunk of it out. He twisted it around, spun it over his head like some expert staff user (though he's just showing off his reaction time. He's not actually an expert) before catching it with his hands and pointing it over the heads of the zombies like a spear. "Since they're already dead..." V rushed forward, flailing the two meter long metal stick around smashing up everything and anything that comes into collision course with the metal stick, as he made his way directly between the crowd and the zombie horde.

Incredible. Just incredible. This is so much fun...! Hahah! More! MORE! He thought wildly, as he aimed a strike at the head of yet another undead.

Clarissa was busy charging up endless flights of stairs until well...hell broke loose. Zombies!? Oh dear they were Zombies. How wonderful of a sight to see! Clarissa had never seen Zombies before and to see them this close was such an incredible event. Too bad they were shuffling to gnaw at her flesh and brains and she had to escape this plight or risk death. She turned to her bossman but before she could suggest something, one of their teammates echoed in her head rudely and frantically enough for her to stop before speaking.

"OI!!! Skullman! Magic Woman! There's a whole fucking crapload of zombies crawling all over the first floor! Get down here and help us clean this mess, dammit!"

Clarissa couldn't help but giggle a bit at his suggestion. They too were swarming with Zombies but he obviously could see that. To his luck though, heading back down was the best plan of action in Clarissa's opinion. Heading up would be impossible unless her partner was a Demi-God and heading onto the floor they were on could be disastrous as it could lead to a dead-end...puns intended.

"Skullman...I kind of like that. Hajime, We should head back as we aren't that high up yet and I believe there are much less zombies downstairs then...up there.", Clarissa suggested as she pointed upwards towards the endless horde that can be clearly seen rather then the smaller horde that can be seen climbing up.

"We need a decision fast though, I wont step out of line again without your say unless needed so give me an order!", She said, a lot more serious then usual, preparing her spells for whatever he decided. Up, down, or onto the level...She was going to destroy the staircase so they couldn't get pincered in whatever choice they decided. It would take an amplified offensive spell to do so but she'd be certain it got the job done...
