"So, this is it?"

"What's wrong, Brother?"

"I just thought there'd be more to it. This seems like something we could've done all on our own before ever joining the Club."

"You're underestimating the Master's genius. Last time was the equivalent of a greeting card. This time we're going to really put them to the test... just wait and see..."

=====

[Arcadia: Control Room]

The control room of Arcadia's HQ was in full chaos as members from most every division scrambled from one place to another exchanging information as quickly as possible to compile a working collection of the needed information. "How is it coming?" Hiro Tsukasa, already garbed in his Arcadian Uniform, asked as he leaned over the shoulder of one of the girls at a computer console checking the screen.

"We confirmed your hunch," the Officer responded, "The energy readings are off the charts." Nodding slowly Hiro stepped away and took his usual spot ready to stand before the Fire Division once they had assembled. The call had gone out minutes after Arcadia received the note and just as a few members of the Wind Division had been dispatched to scout ahead. The unusual thing, however, is that the sun was only starting to set outside. It was perhaps the earliest a mission for Arcadia had occurred besides the multi-day trip to America.

"They're not going to like this," Hiro mumbled to himself with a laugh, "All this time and right away, once they come back, it's another obvious trap scenario." He didn't like it either. However, given the nature of what was going on, Arcadia had zero choice in the matter. Perhaps, this time could be different. They had all grown in their own skills and now they had the completed IXA System along with Masamune and Durandal; there was Excalibur too but his merit was questionable.

This won't be a repeat of the past battles, Hiro thought to himself with strong determination, I won't let that happen again...

" Yea mom I'm fine! Yea, yea, look mom I gotta go. Yea I have a meeting with a school club...No I'm not meeting Tarin! No were not- mom look I gotta go! Byyyyye!" Ikki said as he hung his phone up with a frustrated huff. He was already in his Arcadia uniform, making his way down the halls on his way to the control room. It was time for his first mission, and he would be sure to not fail Hiro.

Ikki's eyes widened in amazement as he made his way into the large control room looking around. It had been awhile since he had seen anything this amazing. Between all the people running around frantically, and the noise, Ikki was sure something big was going down. It was then he eyed Hiro. He smiled trying to raise his right arm, but quickly brought it back down in pain. It was still hurting from the Wo-Shing battle, but was slowly getting better.

" Ikki Sanjiro reporting for duty sir!" Ikki said in a quite comical tone, although to be truthful he didn't expect Hiro to be in the best mood, given everything that was happening around him.

“What’s going on? Do we have an update about what happened last time?”

Hajime Go strode into the control room and weaving in between countless number of Arcadia personnel from other division moving in and out with purpose in their stride without slowing down himself. He acknowledges a few friendly faces with a cursory nod but when he saw Hiro was present, he stopped just a few steps away from him.

“Hiro-sensei, you’re back.” Hajime greeted with an obvious statement and a casual salute. “What’s happening? Is it something big?”

'Endless battles recurring over and over..'

Jameson tipped his hat brim down. "First the Wo Shing.. Now the hellfire club will fall.. We'll end these ridiculous bastards at once.." Jameson said folding his arms across his chest. If you thought of recurring enemies it seemed the Hellfire Club was a major one. They had been toying with Arcadia for years now and he wasn't sure if they would survive the night that these deadly foes made their true move..

Hopefully this meeting would be about counter measure to protect against that. Either way Jameson walked into the room, flashing a thumbs up towards Hiro. "Good to see you again, aibou~!" Jameson said cheerfully. Ever since the Wo Shing take down Jameson has been busier than ever with cases and had thus been unable to make time for his friends. It was somewhat tragic...

BUT NOW HE HAD TIME. Sort of. It was for business so it wasn't exactly like they were here to swap gossip but they were both busy guys so he doubted Hiro minded much that Jameson had his own shit to take care of. He leaned against a wall waiting to learn what was going on.

"Boo!", Clarissa shouted playfully as she "snuck" up behind Hiro, trying to lighten the seriousness behind Hiro's eyes.

With a gentle laugh, Clarissa patted her new found master on the back with a smile. She was wearing her edited version of the Arcadia Uniform and was glad Hiro was so kind in allowing her to do so. It was a short black dress with the Arcadian uniform dressings and emblem. A small latch hands to the side of the dress where her Grimoire rests in an easily accessible band pressed against her hip. Her long red hair was tied back and away from her face in an elegant manner so it would not get in the way during what was to come.

"Well, Clarissa Florence awaiting your orders...Master.", She said, smiling while uttering the last word.

She liked the sound of that and she couldn't be any more excited then she was now. Finally she was going on her first mission and the wonders she was going to see couldn't even be imagined. She was sure to take this seriously though...The supernatural and the magical never were things to take with a passing glance or a small shrug. One false move and she could get hurt, get someone else hurt, or worse...She needed to give her all. Besides...She had to impress Hiro after all.

Follow the yellow brick road...

It was only two nights after he'd had his forlorn daydream that a curious and, dare we say, bored Knox found himself wandering through downtown. A glimpse of something had caught his attention, and in lieu of all that had happened since that time it wasn't in his best interests to make point of it now; however, since the dust had settled it was time to come face to face with the twisted reality he'd assumed only existed in his imagination, in between, and in the dark. Grim had told him, search out Arcadia - and instead it found him. At night, it figured, but in the dusk and nowhere to turn, why not explore? He'd forgotten the daydream, but it hadn't forgotten him; and something about passing the Eldritch Influence just struck a chord, somewhere; like a memory he couldn't place. A name on the tip of your tongue, or song lyrics you know, but forget them as the song plays. So he entered, removed his hood and rubbed his hands together. He'd have crossed his arms, but the leather was cold and body heat was doing a marvelous job at this point....

The dream had shown him a path; a path he followed. Through the store. Through a portal; apprehensive, but he followed. It wasn't the first time he'd launched his body into an unknown portal; and it certainly wouldn't be the last. What found him on the other side was a maze of confusion; like a retrogradebomb had just gone off; a sea of black and white, people, faces, milling about; talking about Fire, Prime, Control Rooms. This, that, and the other. Nevermind the horrible out-of-place feeling. He'd stopped someone to ask where they were. Of course, he was still speaking English, and didn't get much in the way of an answer. Follow he did, however; down the rabbit hole. You could tell he was out of place; if not for the backpack on his back, maybe the dirty jeans or the five oclock shadow. Maybe it was because he looked ten years older than everyone else present. Regardless; he was supposed to be there. Or, at least, that's what he was told. If Grim were right or not, that would be up to Time.

When Ryan first entered the control room, he didn't say a word to anyone. He decided to wait, watch, and listen. Was there supposed to be someone along to tell him he was out of uniform? He had no uniform; to tell him he wasn't falling in line with his group? He had no group. He was a bystander in a foreign world; but only here. Supernatural, was one. But the Arcadia Mansion was another venture. But, soon enough, he'd get his bearings. Find someone that could speak English and be on his way to doing whatever his Mentor needed him to do in Japan. Now, to find someone that spoke English...

No...! Get back! You'll be killed!

"I can't..!! This is my duty!" Seth struggled about, dragging his disobedient legs with extreme difficulty.

WHO THE HELL CARES ABOUT DUTY!? YOUR LIFE WILL BE IN DANGER IF YOU KEEP ON GETTING INVOLVED WITH THEM!!

"Just... Shut up!!"

With tremendous willpower he wrenched his feet into submission, inadvertently throwing himself right into the control room, tumbling and crashing about in his Arcadia uniform until he finally stopped at Hiro's feet. "Ah, sorry, sorry!" He quickly picked himself up, bowing rapidly at him in apology. He then realized that he was not exactly the first one to arrive, which made him a bit apprehensive. "Uhm... I-I'm sorry I'm late.." He said in a small voice, looking at his shoe.

"Hot....hot....hot." Shad muttered, tossing the rather oblong-shaped red pepper back and forth from hand to hand. It had taken a bit of convincing the truck driver over at the grocery store, but Shad finally got his hands on a Naga Viper pepper. He had read up on the pepper in the newspapers, fascinated by the dangerous potential that it carried. Unfortunately, it seemed to have a allegic reaction when in contact with his flesh, in which he was looking for a place to set it down upon entering the Control Room. He planned to obtain it's seeds and plant them in the greenhouse after the meeting, as to test it's growth speed and adaptation on loose soil.

Finding a nearby console with no apparent levers or buttons, he quickly dropped the Naga Viper on top and placed both hands in pockets to recover his silver moon- gloves. "Much better." He sighed in relief, even though his palms were still throbbing red due to the allergic reaction. To be truthful, Shad had no idea why the meeting was called after Wo Shing was defeated (in a rather pathetic, humilating fashion), but he guessed it had something to do with Sarah's rescue.

Picking up the pepper in his right gloved hand, in which there was no damaging effect, he proceeded over to the group and waited patiently. Although it seemed unlikely he would be chosen for the next mission, he was hoping to join to assist in taking out any enemy forces. In that case, he'll pack large Veggie and fruit bentos for everyone going on the mission. And maybe find a use for the pepper in the process, since he hated eating spicy things that could cause his throat to turn dry as the Sahara.

Lynn slammed the large, black book in her hand shut tightly as the meeting finally got underway. Having arrived several hours in advance she'd been pretty prepared for briefing, if a bit underslept. As it turned out, other people weren't so prudent as her when it came to their magically inclined duties. Or rather there was simply no benefit to showing up before they started putting the extra chairs in the room. Still, one could never be too cautious when it came to anything arcane and getting to see that Tsukasa guy with her very own eyes had been a real treat in and of itself. Lynn could almost feel the mystical energies floating off of him when he walked into a room and the air seemed to crackle with his knowledge, charisma and experience. A magician to admire if ever there was one!

However she didn't see him as a role model so much as a standard of excellence. Arcadia was just one big dartboard, a test of one's knowledge and prowess in the field of wizardry, sorcery and all things generally supernatural. Hiro Tsukasa, the organization's big spiky-haired head was the only person worth calling her bullseye. The gauntlet had been thrown and in no time at all she'd show them how they flung witchcraft in Vegas. Of course with only the brief context given to her at the time of initiation, Lynn wasn't particularly well acquainted with the situation at hand. A minor setback, at most. As the others began to arrive, she admired with a certain glee the great variance which made up the ranks of the group she'd so proudly joined. So many different types of people and no doubt between them many types of abilities.

Magic was so...all encompassing that way. A million different types for a million different people and never once was it the same. Lynn could tell that a few of them were wearing their uniforms, expressing their official nature and most of them looked quite fantastic. It hadn't been long before she'd received her own and tried it out for the first time, more than a little excited to see what sort of outfit manifested itself based on her innermost self. Of course, the fact that she was wearing her work clothes attested to the fact that her outfit handed up being something a million times more ridiculous than she could have imagined. Was her soul really that gaudy and vain? It honestly appeared like someone had made a dress out of a Katamari used to roll up the entire Vegas strip. Actually, that sort of made sense when you really thought about it.

Lynn still wouldn't wear it outside of regular missions though.

"Let it not be said that I don't post in Hyakuji anymore."
"... Onee-chan, if you're talking about the fact that you're a job mod and you spend too much time in Fantasia, I don't think-"
"SHH! They don't know that yet!"

Otoha and Hotaru were more or less hissing at each other as they entered the Arcadia Mansion's control room for today's briefing. Despite being busy in other places, they still found time to check up on Arcadia at the very least, and they wouldn't miss being part of a big mission if they could help it.

And if what Hiro said about earlier had anything to do about it, this one was as big as it could get. Gallivanting in other forums dimensions aside, they needed to focus on this particular mission now.

"So, uh... did we miss anything, Hajime-kun?" Otoha asked Hajime as she stopped behind him. "You know, aside from the whole 'this is an obvious trap' bit."

Chizu snapped her phone shut as she passed through the portal into the mansion, knowing full well that it wasn't like she would get any service in a parallel dimension. She ran a hand through her hair and sighed, her Arcadia uniform materializing over her original clothes as she stepped into the control room. She was thankful that Aether had his own form now. He could sit in the Wind Tower and make up some excuse for her being gone. The meeting was earlier than usual--it was barely sunset.

That simple fact set Chizu on edge. Arcadia was never 'ordinary', so something out of the ordinary even for Arcadia had to happen for a reason. It didn't help that the state of the Control Room already gave enough away. Everyone that wasn't a Fire Division member or Tsukasa-sensei was scrambling around. She glanced at Tsukasa-sensei taking note of the expression on his face.

Yeah. Definitely bad news.

Which could mean only one thing in this situation. Hellfire.

"What's up, sensei?" she asked. "It's a little early for a meeting." She knew that it was pointing out the obvious, but she wasn't good at manipulating conversations. Might as well be blunt and get it out of the way. She frowned, glancing at the one person in the room that didn't seem to be in uniform. A new member? Now? He picked the wrong time to sign up, if that was the case. He was a little older than most of the Fire Division, though, so she could be wrong.

"An Arcadia meeting before sunset? Must be my lucky day. Or...er...unlucky day. Not sure which yet."

Star walked into the mansion after Chizu, her trademark grin on her face even though it didn't really reach her eyes this time. She was dressed in her Arcadia uniform as well, grinning as she looked around the room and at people she recognized. They had all seen her before, of course. She had been the girl at the counter that had watched them as they walked in.

Since it was her shift at Eldritch right now, she should have been the first person at the meeting, but she had opted to hang around outside and poke around the back room a bit to make sure nobody was around that shouldn't be around. Particularly somebody named Tarin Richards, who was already known for looking around the backroom and being particularly suspicious when a large group of people suddenly walked through the store, into the backroom, and didn't come back out.

She raised her hand and waved at Hiro with a smile, signaling that her nosy coworker was nowhere in sight. Star really wasn't sure what to do with a meeting going on during store hours, but hopefully the "CLOSED" sign on the door would stop people from walking through for no reason.

...Oh, who was she kidding? This was Hyakuji.

She flipped some of her blond hair over her shoulder, turning towards the older man in the group that wasn't in an Arcadia uniform. Star glanced at him, taking note of his features. European or American? Not an odd sight in Hyakuji, but the way he was standing there looking lost and ignoring everyone's conversations was. Most people here were at least bilingual. She smiled and walked over to him.

<"You're a little out of uniform,"> she commented, in English. <"New here?">

"Well, in all fairness Star the uniform's only compulsory when we're on the field," Lavender said as she entered the Control Room of the Arcadia Mansion shortly after Star. "Unless you're talking about Arcadia back when I was in charge," the amethyst-haired aeromancer smiled. Neither was she in her Arcadia field uniform, or at least that was how she termed it due to her old habits in GLADIUS - but as long as she was within Arcadian premises Lavender adopted a work outfit, just as how GLADIUS agents have work/dress uniforms while in office and field uniforms when out in the field. Lavender herself was garbed in a woodland camouflage BDU with sleeves rolled up to her elbows, along with matching combats and a pair of army boots, her USP sidearm kept in a holster upon her belt and her long purple hair tied up in a high ponytail.

As Lavender made her way to the front where Hiro was busy going through the details with Arcadia's mission control the aeromancer glanced around, immediately noticing some new faces in the crowd. "This certainly doesn't seem like a typical Arcadia briefing, as far as timing is concerned anyway," Lavender commented, although there was a slight tone of apprehension. Was it safe to hold a briefing within the Arcadia Mansion after the previous incident involving the Hellfire Club, who might even as they speak, be watching their every move. For all his credit being the founder of Arcadia, one of the world's most renowned sorcerers and a savior of Hyakuji, Hiro didn't seem to know much about military subjects such as operational security. "Hiro-san, I take it the mansion's security protocols have been updated then?" Lavender asked as she watched the screens while standing next to Hiro, arms folded across her chest. She had afterall kept the Arcadia leader updated on what had transpired within the mansion during his absence.

I say, it's a tad early for a mission briefing! Selene thought as she stepped through the portal at the back of the Eldritch Influence leading to the Arcadia Mansion, her street clothes transforming into her Arcadian outfit as she entered the Control Room. "Hi Star!" The English heiress smiled as she stopped next to Star, before waving at Hotaru and the other familiar faces. "Ah, looks like we have new faces amongst us too," Selene joined in after Star, turning her attention from her fellow Arcadians to the guy who appeared to be minding his own business while the preparations for the briefing were underway.

[[Hey, thanks for that </> English idea, Chizu! It'll make things much simpler.]]

So we beat on, boats against the curre-....wait. Wrong story. Strike That. Reverse.

With arms folded over his chest the American continued his self-taught silent treatment. Watching the monotone sea of color wash out any trace of normalcy. Something was up. There wouldn't be this much chatter and hustle over a lost cat, or some apparition in the hotel down the road. This wasn't Ghostbusters and he wasn't Douglas Adams. The name Hellfire went through the air more than a few times. What was one supposed to think? His Japanese wasn't perfect, but he picked up here and there. Danger. Battle. Fight. Trap. Wo-Shing. The rest of it was too fluent, too slang-oriented and far too quick for him to discern. Every now and again eyes shot his way; like a butcher eying up a piece of meat. All the 14th century latin in the world couldn't help him converse with people right in front of him. The thought alone made him smirk, and right around the time the Actions speak louder than words thought went through his head, he heard a voice;

<"You're a little out of uniform; New here?">

Clear, concise, and to the point. The words cut through the idle chatter like a knife through butter; and a slow smile spread across his face before he even turned. Cheerful and inquisitive, light, airy. That palpable sensation of lightheartedness that forces a playful grin even when you're out of it. Well, it worked. Those grayed-out orbs fell on her like a storm, and he smiled. Two things; she had to be intelligent to, A; pick a nationality, switch languages, and figure it'd work. B; charismatic, to approach a stranger that looked as....well, as he did. Best to make the most of it. Hadn't he passed her on the way through the bookstore? Couldn't be eighteen yet, but old for her age. Her eyes showed it. At least, that's what he saw. But enough about the mental charades of a madman.

<"Oh, yeah. First time. I must have missed the uniform giveaway when I stepped through the vortex in the back'a your bookstore, yeah?"> He laughed, and put out his hand. Today, there was no blood on it. <"Name's Ryan Knox. And you, darling, look Italian; am I right?">

It was either the blonde hair, amethyst eyes or the take-charge attitude. Maybe it was what he detected of her accent; but she didn't look as if she'd been born and bred on Japanese soil. Hell, most the people in the room didn't look very Japanese. But, then, kids all look alike at that age. Except for the Lavender haired broad that went stalking by. Something about her gait had his eyes wander; and it had nothing to do with where her legs met her back. Military family? Few had posture like that. Army-surplus boots, conservative appearance and a sidearm. Everything a woman needs to scare the crap out of almost any man in a thirty-day range. She might be another on his list of people to keep in touch with. Well, maybe. He'd keep an eye out.

Attention wove back towards the blonde italian he didn't really know, and the strawberry-red-blonde that had just snuck up alongside her. The place was getting crowded fast. But, since his blonde was the only one gone taken an interest, not to mention initiative, best to stick with her. At least, for now. Besides, he seemed to be lacking, at the very least, a uniform. Lacking any sense of a clue as to what was going on? That, he could handle. Best to get at least one of those things squared away; and getting new clothes is always easier than getting a clue.

<"So, how does one go about...getting a Uniform? I don't have to sacrifice a lamb or anything, do I?">

Let's hope she had a sense of humor.

"Yep, sensei, I know, just being helpful~" said Star to Lavender when Arcadia's other Prime reminded her that the uniforms were only required for missions. She was doing two things actually--being helpful, and making sure that Ryan was where he was supposed to be.

Star reached out her hand and took Ryan's offered one, shaking it briefly. There wasn't any hesitance in her movements, even though she could tell that he wasn't entirely right in the head. She grinned at his assessment of her nationality, placing her hands on her waist. <"Oh, darn, is it really that obvious?"> she asked. <"I guess I need to go work on my accent some more, then."> She giggled. The best thing about being part light elemental was that the blond hair always threw people off. If she could master the accent, she could pretend to be a bleached blond from California and nobody would think twice.

Except...given the fact that she absorbed sunlight, she really didn't tan. It took a lot of constant exposure to darken her skin tone--it had taken an entire summer at the beach last time to make it noticeable. <"Star Ricci, Hyakuji High freshman and part-timer at Eldritch Influence at your service!>"

She made a face when Ryan mentioned sacrificing a lamb, wrinkling up her nose. <"Ew, yuck,"> she said. <"Lambs are so last year! Now goats--goats--are where it's at."> She laughed, covering her mouth with her hand before smiling. <"Actually, you don't need to do anything. If you're an Arcadia member, the enchantment was placed on you when you joined, so you can just...y'know...think it, and the uniform will appear on your skin. No telling what you might get, I mean, look at me--"> She spun around, emphasizing her black blouse and white pleated skirt uniform along with the black cloak and white crosses that came over it. <"I look like Sailor Moon attended a fashion show presented by Rozen Maiden. But it's kinda cool. I like my uniform.">

She paused for a moment. <"Uh, one thing you should know,"> she said. <"Any damage sustained by your uniform shows up on your regular clothes. Learned from experience."> She decided to leave it there, turning towards Selene. <"Hey, Selene!"> she said, still talking in English because she didn't particularly feel like excluding Ryan and if Selene couldn't understand her, she failed at being British. <"Just helping a new member out. Selene, Ryan. Ryan, Selene.">

"The mansion should be fine," Hiro answered Lavender with a reassuring nod, "Earth Division has started a new training regime and for the time being I've relegated the original prototype IXA System to Earth Division's use since we've finished the new one. I've also strengthened the wards on Arcadia's pocket dimension. Overall, we should be fine. The only reason they got in so easily last time was because they had a plant on the inside."

However, he quickly tore away from Lavender without even giving her time to answer as he started to address Fire Divsion, "But we've got no time so I'm sorry to anybody who is new; you're just going to have to roll with it and get oriented later." With a snap of his finger the large video screen used for briefing flicked to life showing a rather gruesome sight. It depicted an alley in Hyakuji not far from the abandoned warehouse where Wo-Shing's demise occurred. Gore lay strewn along the ground of the alley; the shredded remains of what once had to be human. On the alley wall written in the blood of the victim was a single word: Sugamo.

"This occurred, conveniently, while the attack on Wo-Shing was going on and as you know all of Arcadia's resources were focused to there. It was picked up as soon as everything got settled and the mansion was back to normal business," Hiro explained, "It's obvious that they are trying to bait us like in the past, but this isn't something we can ignore."

The video screen flashed as the image changed showing a large building:
Posted Image

"This is Sunshine 60. It's located at Ikebukuro in the Toshima Ward of Tokyo," Hiro continued, "It was also built on the foundation of the destroyed Sugamo Prison which was used to hold senior Japanese war criminals during occupation. It's a pretty popular rumor that the building is haunted because of this. However..."

The video screen changed a final time now showing a map of Japan except red lines were noted all around the map like roads. One single road, black unlike the rest, ran directly from Hyakuji towards Tokyo. Snapping his fingers once more Hiro turned to the screen as it zoomed in closer and closer ultimately showing everyone that the black line ran directly to the location of the Sunshine 60 building.

"This is a map of ley lines," Hiro explained, "As most of you will know the lines in Hyakuji have been out of order and sometimes corrupted since The Hellfire Club appeared and it's our theory that they ultimately tie into their plan; whatever that is."

"This line," Hiro pointed at the one marked in black on the screen, "Is carrying severe negative energy and dark magic. For some reason, today, it was rerouted by someone using powerful magic to run to its current location. The results will probably kick off any moment now. But there's still people inside. That's why I sent for everyone beyond the usual time."

"The building is mixed use so it has everything from offices to restaurants... plus the top floor's observation deck is quite popular," Hiro let out a worried sigh as he was starting to reach the conclusion, "I'm sure that's why the Club orchestrated things in this way, but I'm not going to let those people die."

"So," Hiro's voice took a more commanding tone, "I know a lot of us still haven't recovered from earlier today but I need to know.... who is willing to go on this mission? We already have a few Wind Operatives in the building acting as shoppers on the lower floors but nothing important has turned up. I'm going to send the usual detachment of five Fire Division members and this time I'm also authorizing all of Prime to head out too. That means Lavender and I will be coming along with Team. If you've got questions I can try to field them but remember we're on borrowed time at this point."
