Jameson sighed heavily. Now he finally had gathered all the stuff from his bags together and had put them away things were finally winding down for the evening. It had been a lot more.. eventful than he had wanted it to be but then he could live with that. What he couldn't live with was this high stress life every day. First he had nearly died... then he learned his entire building was torn apart.. then one of his EMPLOYEES nearly died. It was getting to the level of driving him insane. He didn't regret his decision but he sure as hell wished this were all a little easier. Taking in a person whom wanted to escape a bad life SHOULD have been followed by a great day. Karma-wise at least! But of course that wasn't how life worked. People died for doing the right thing all the time. He didn't do it for Kharma.. he did it because it was.. Heh.. He grinned a bit to himself. It was his way of living 'as correctly' as he could. After he had gathered together all the stuff he leaned back in his chair. "So you guys are finally coming do.. down." He stumbled a bit eying Aki's get up.. ".. ah.... uh..." Jameson stared at her for a moment before blinking and glancing away. "S-Sure, whatever. It was a misunderstanding anyhow.." He said shuffling his papers together with a frown.. Yeesh.. What a dangerous kid. In some ways he found it easier to deal with Chetri's danger than Aki's.. "You should take my trench-coat when you head out.. It's cold tonight.." It WAS turning into winter already after all.. "Anyhow I'm sorry we didn't really get to talk much.. But was there something you needed when you came here?" |

Aki smiled widely, unable to hold back at Jameson's slack-jawed expression. Vulnerability was adorable on him. "Thanks boss, it's nice to have someone who appreciates a misunderstanding for what it is." And not punish her in any significant pecuniary fashion. That said, if he'd been any kind of man he'd have sentenced her to have drinks with him to make up for it. That was how you picked up a girl like her. Still, not everyone could be up to par in the department and he still had a lot of impressive qualities. Aki couldn't help but wonder what she'd have to wear to get a cash advance... "Oh, that's really sweet. As long as you don't mind.." She said, slipping his coat over her shoulders. It was heavier than the jackets she was used to and it had a distinct scent to it. Overall if she had to describe it, it would be...noir. Kind of a silly thing to name a smell, but Aki could only imagine the number of back-alley adventures this coat had taken someone on. No doubt if it could talk it would have a lot to say. Her attention was rattled slightly as he asked about what she'd come over for in the first place, something she'd inadvertently pushed out of her mind until now. Aki supposed the truth was best, but she didn't want him to get the wrong idea. While it was mostly true that she'd come over just to see if he was alone, the lingerie was strictly for personal confidence reasons. It was hard to believe he'd buy that, though. Aki hadn't really been planning anything like that, especially not since they didn't know each other that well. It seemed wrong to take advantage of him before he even knew who she was a little better. So of course that explanation went right out, inferring way more than Aki could really reign in. That said, there was another thing she'd wanted to ask him while she was here and that served as a simple enough explanation for her taste. "Ah, it was nothing really, it's just...After our little adventure the other day, I was thinking," A dangerous way to start, "I have a bit of money still stashed away from before you hired me, but since my living expenses are pretty well taken care of..." barely, "I was hoping maybe you'd want to help me buy a motorcycle. Or at least teach me what to look for." Aki wasn't about to drag him down to the dealership or anything, but he obviously knew his bikes. It was pretty uncomfortable for her to feel so helpless regarding something that interested her so much, but asking for help was all she could do. Edited by Dominique, Dec 1 2010, 02:02 PM.

Jameson leaned back grinning to himself as he placed his fingers behind his head. Lying?.. No.. stretching the truth... Hurm, there was something behind her words Either way he felt somewhat amused by her uncomfortable squirm. Either way for the moment he'd let it slide. No good could come of applying pressure to the issue. If she said she was here for a bike then she was here for a bike and that was all there was to it.. "Uh.. sure, I'll go with you..." He frowned, thinking. "The day after tomorrow. Tomorrow you and Chetri need to go and pick out some clothes for her. She came on... short notice. i'll provide some extra money for you to get some things for yourself too as payment and I'll help you with the bike... I hate relying on you so much but I don't know anything about clothes for girls... Besides.." He glanced to the hallway for flashing a small smile. "I think Chetri needs someone like you.." He said hopping forward before walking to her. "Anyhow, I need to deal with some stuff with Chetri.. So if that's all then I'll see oyu tomorrow." He said flashing her a grin and a thumbs up. |

"Excuse me." Chetri announced her entry, opening the door quietly and then closing it behind her, making her way to a corner to wait unobtrusively. She'd returned the first aid kit to it's proper place first, and then deposited the blouse in the room Jameson had provided so she could work on it later, and so was somewhat late to come down. Now that she was however, she'd ended up lapsing into old habits and merely moved quietly to somewhere out of the way, but close enough to be called if needed. It was a habit of sorts, born of training and conditioning. |

Aki smiled, casually saluting Jameson with a pair of fingers and a wink. "Sure thing, detective. I don't mind taking the little vamp out; she could do with a touch of my style anyway." Which may or may not necessarily have been true. It wasn't like she was going to bring her back dressed just like her, that would be both cliche and unoriginal. Although those two usually went hand in hand. In her head, Aki was already sizing up the girl's frame and plotting a wardrobe. Jameson had put her in good hands with this one. "I'll hold you to that promise, too. I don't want to see you backing out at the last minute, ya got it?" Aki's smile faded a bit as Jameson put an earnest spin on the otherwise lighthearted situation. Just what the heck did he mean by needing someone like her? Folding her arms uncomfortably she smirked and nodded, pretending to get exactly what he was stabbing at. Were they really that similar? Maybe he was hoping Aki could get her out of whatever programmed funk she stuck in all the time. It didn't seem all that likely though... Her smile returned as Jameson shoved her out the door with a wide-eyed grin of his own. "I'll see you tomorrow then, boss. Next time you'll let me stay the night though right?" Aki gave him a quick thumbs up before sauntering out the door without waiting for his answer. It was going to be a cold, dark walk home. What a pain in the ass that guy was sometimes. For some reason that only made her smile more. |

"Heh... Stay the night..?" Jameson said with a grin. "Well there are plenty of rooms..." He said looking around cluelessly. Either way he snapped back to reality and focused on Chetri for the moment. He sat down pulling from his bag several boxes.. "I got motion sensors.. cameras activate on them all, as well as silent alarms and new locks and so on.." He said placing some of them down. "There are more in the garage but yeah. You can decide their placement.." "Onto the second order of business.." Jameson said idly. He reached into his pocket and drew out his wallet, fiddling inside for a small card. "There's a local Yakuza boss named Ryounosuke Takeda.. Typically I make it my business to STOP his activities but desperate times call for desperate measures and I actually somewhat like this guy.." He shrugged. "As far as yakuza go he's pretty clean. Mostly deals in women and clubs and importing stuff as well as selling stuff 'acquired' around here.. Anyhow I did him a favor by finding the man cutting a little off the top in his smuggling operation.." "He's been on me for weeks about it but.. I like people needing me. It's good for favors. Anyhow he wanted to pay me but instead I asked for half the value in imported items... It's five grand. You just call this number with a list of needs and he'll work on importing them. It may take some time but it's an effective way to acquire them. I'll work on getting the permits retroactively when I know the make and models.. Due to gaps in my network of friends this is pretty much the best I can do for acquiring weapons." He exhaled slowly as he brushed back his hair. He then broke into a small grin, realizing something. "I guess we can call this your Christmas present..?" |

"That will depend on you, actually." she replied, taking a moment to look at the card, and then explained "The appropriate weapon will vary based on the nature of the missions you will have me undertake." It was simple really. Weapons such as firearms are made with specific mission needs in mind, and as such, there will generally be an appropriate type of weapon for an appropriate need. Generally pistols are preferred for their relative compactness and easy concealability, while submachine guns and assault rifles are used for greater threats. For long range jobs, a sniper rifle may be required, and she explained as such. She couldn't guess as to what sort of things Jameson got himself into, but it would have to be fairly dangerous if someone actually wanted him dealt with enough that people like her were sent in. Their services did not come cheaply. |

"Well then keep it on you then." Jameson said with a small grin. "I'm sure it'll eventually come in handy..." He shrugged broadly. "Maybe if you decide to cut an run it'll help too." He said leaning back in his chair. Everything had been piling up lately but now things were slowly getting back in order. The repairmen would be there the next day to fix the place and she and Aki would take of the odds and ends.. Ah.. speaking of which. "Two more things. First off tomorrow you're going to go shopping with Aki. Cellular, clothes, etc. It's not a big deal you just need to get it taken care of to help you blend in and so we can stay in contact.. And the other thing is that I was owndering.. Is it at all possible that your handler is still around or that you can contact him? I mean it's only been a day and a half and you were on a mission so I just thought perhaps we might be able to still find him.." |

She shook her head "Not possible. I was dropped off near the city and ordered to proceed on my own. It was a no-cover mission." A no-cover mission was, as the name implied, a mission wherein the operators were not provided with cover identities of any sort, and simply made to proceed without getting caught. Compared to the trouble and expense of setting up cover identities, this was much simpler and required fewer resources. it also allowed one to pack lighter, since they wouldn't have to carry documentation or extraneous equipment. After proceeding to setup in the city, she would locate a suitable place to prepare, and then execute the mission when ready, leaving town quietly the same way, to be picked up by an extraction team after a specified time. In this case, a week. This also prevented investigating authorities from checking travel records for any suspicious people - you were never officially there. |
