Getting Settled In; Introducing Kaiser (OPEN)

It was convenient they found him near the start of the school year. That's what they had told him at the station. They also said, that the reason it was convenient was that it would mean he would easily blend in. Like anyone else they said. As Kaiser sat in the empty dorm room with the door wide open, he didn't feel like anything at all was really convenient at the moment.

Saying the room was empty was a tad misleading. There was a bed with plain sheets, a small desk, a bookshelf with nothing on it besides what They had said he'd need for school. There was also a dresser to keep the clothes They had given him. In his closet was his old robe, and on the desk was his mask. He was sitting on the bed looking at it.

He wasn't upset, he had been, but he wasn't now. He had given up on it, there was nothing he could do for it. He had also given up on confusion. One minute he had felt a sharp pain pierce him...next he was being rounded up by men in suits, questioning about things he didn't understand. Then he spent a few days in a white room, unlike the grey room he was in now. Then they told him what was going to happen, and that he had no real choice in the matter. Even after he had told them everything, They told him what to do. The King of Empyrean was dethroned in a world that didn't even know of him.

What was happening to his people? Did the conflict between Cerberus and Elysium intensify as he sat? Were the Elders already training someone new to replace him? Did it matter right now? He walked over to the desk and lifted the mask. It was real, that meant it did matter. Just not to him.

He wandered over to the dresser, he didnt like the shirt he was currently wearing. Not minding the door being completely open he began to remove his shirt and fold it on top of the dresser as he rummaged through his drawer.

Whoosh!

"Why, you little bird brain... GET BACK HERE!!"

The serene little atmosphere was severely destroyed by the yelling of a fifteen-year old midget, running in the hall, in hot pursuit with a flying mechanical owl. In his hand an over-sized gun, and on his face the look of extreme annoyance and anger.

Ten minutes ago, he was in his room at the top floor of the dormitory, alone, making some fixes, tweaks and changes to his Gateway. And, as a result of a small unforeseen blunder, the Gateway glitched, creating a single blue portal, and flying out of the portal was a gray-brown mechanical owl, flying over his head, around the room and out. Of course, he attempted to catch it, by summoning his Net Gun in a similar fashion (not accidental. Purposely, mind you). Trouble is, he's having a hard time aiming the Net Gun with so many people in the way as he chased the robo-bird all over the entire Yuki dorm. He had fired two shots already, but neither of them caught the bird. Instead, it manages to snag two people (whom he didn't bother to identify) like sardines.

As the chase continued, the two (as in, the bird and the midget) came across an open room. The mechanical owl zoomed straight into the room, with Alex sporting the smile of victory. Now the blasted nutjob has nowhere else to run. He skidded in front of the room, raising his Net Gun up in front of hi-

BAAANG!!!!

What the hell?! An accidental discharge?! Well, whatever caused that isn't the topic we want to focus on. The point is, before he even managed to aim the gun properly, the gun was fired, sending a large square shaped net flying at the only occupant in the room.

Before he could even put on his shirt, Kaiser caught movement in the corner of his eye. He quickly threw the shirt down that he had been going to put on and turned as the net came flying towards him. As a reflex, Kaiser already had his hand raised as His eyes washed over with green light as a curious symbol like a triangle with a line through it surrounded by a circle filled his eye. "air" His fingers seemed to vibrate and then....

A pulse of air shot forward and the net seemed to catch and focus on a sphere of air that could only be seen after the net encompassed it and dropped to the ground. Kaiser looked down at the net and then picked up his shirt. After putting it back on he looked at the man...if you could call what he saw a man, his size didnt suggest it, who had attacked him.

"What have I done to you to deserve such an ambush?" The tone wasn't angry, but a authoritative and reasoning, trying to understand, yet still sounding scolding.

"HEY! HEY WATCH- ... out," His warning sentence trailed off into nothingness as the net wrapped itself in some invisible ball thing, stopped in its track and flopped to the ground, managed to catch nothing but air. He stared at the motionless net for a while, but decided to just gloss over how that could have happened. This place IS pretty crazy. Now, to answer the question-

"Who's ambushing? I was trying to catch THAT," He emphasized the last word by pointing at the brownish gray mechanical bird with his gun. The owl flew around their heads, making soft squeaking sound every now and then as it flapped its wings to keep its altitude. It wasn't long before the artificial owl flew over to the cabinet, folded its wings and landed on it with a loud metallic thud. The brown robot eyed the entire room with analytical stare, fixing its eyes on its bean-sized master.

"Help me catch him. I don't think this particular one like me very much..."
Alex returned the unfaltering stare of the bird. And as much as he hated it, asking for help was probably the best course of action he should have taken.

Hoot~

Kaiser glanced up to see the mechanical owl, before he had only seen the net, now though, the bird could obviously be seen as quite an annoyance. However, he wasn't so sure as to what reason he should help the short boy in front of him, besides making his...he supposed his room, bird free. He paused and watched the bird fly around some more. "What did you do to make it dislike you, there is always a reason, regardless of how arbitrary."

As it landed on the cabinet he paused for a second before jumping up to grab it while it was busy staring at the wrong boy. At the same time his eyes glowed with a purple glow this time the symbol of two arrows in a circle came into his eyes "Lightning"

Suddenly Kaiser's entire body buzzed with electric activity. His hand buzzed as an electromagnet as the owl clung to his hand as he slowly floated down to the ground. He hadn't been trying for this powerful of a spell, but hey, he could work with it. He didn't touch the ground but floated an inch above it, his eyes glowing and hair standing on end.

He extended his hand to the boy, handing him the owl. His voice echoed as he spoke "I'm sorry, my magic is a bit...odd here. I can never get it quite how I want it."

... HEEEEEEY.

You ran away from me but you stayed still for him? Birdbrain.

Alex thought with a slight bit of annoyance as the guy jumped and grabbed the mechanical bird with ease like it was nothing but a stationary rock. However it was the event that transpired later that really surprised him. As he made contact with the robot, his entire body was suddenly flooded with powerful lightning surges, visible to the tiniest spark. Alex could feel his spine tingling from the electrostatic forces emanating from the guy's body alone.

As the dropped down to the floor, ... I mean, almost dropped down to the floor, since his feet wasn't touching the ground. The guy walked floated closer to him, and he could feel the sparky sensation getting stronger with every inch the guy covered. He handed the bird over to him, and Alex held out his hand to grab it. It's a bit warm. Probably because of the guy's crazy powers or something. However, as he inspected the bird a bit closer, he found out that the usual whirring sound that usually comes from inside the body had stopped. The mechanical owl had stopped working.

"You killed it," Alex held the owl by its foot, letting it dangle under his arm, its wings clanking about lifelessly. "Ah well. It's a cheap one anyway," Alex took out his Gateway he had brought with him for the chase (he didn't dare to leave it behind) and turned it on. The screen flashed alive, showing nasty little pop-ups and some pretty scenic advertisements.

"Those little nutters... what have they done..." He slid his fingers around the screen, moving the little windows out of the way as he entered some text...

ORDERS RECEIVED. DELIVERY IN 3... 2... 1...

A small blue portal opened up right next to him. Barely flinching or even looking at it, he chucked the owl through the oval blue hole, and stuffed his own head through it.

~~Meanwhile~~

Sitting on a chair in his white laboratory clothing, with a big grin on his face, was a worker in Alex's personal laboratory. In front of him on the desk he usually works on, was a grandiose lunch made by none other than his girlfriend.

"Ooooh boy! I've been looking forward for this!" And his enthusiasm has a reason. All this time when Alex was home, he would always nick the more extravagant meals from them. But this time, he's gonna enjoy himse-

CLANG!

Out of nowhere a hunk of metal shaped like an owl dropped into his lunch, bouncing off the desk to the ground, leaving behind a ruined lunchbox on the table.

"I want that thing fixed by tomorrow morning, got it? Oh? Give me that. I'm hungry,"

The voice came from beside the man. The head of his boss poking out of some blue portal, giving him orders to fix the thing. Upon setting his eyes on the lunch, without hesitating Alex extended his arm through the portal and grabbed the lunchbox. He then retreated through the portal and disappeared, along with the blue portal, leaving a man in white laboratory suit sobbing in demise.

~~Back to the present~~

"That should do it,"
Alex mumbled, biting into a fish fillet he got from the lunchbox he just nicked from one of his underlings. "Want some? As thanks," He offered the lunch to the guy, holding up the box up his face, inadvertently wafting delicious mouth-watering scent to the guy's nose.

It's delicious~~~~~

Kaiser didn't even so much as as blink throughout the entire exchange, well to be honest he couldn't, or wouldn't. With so much energy pulsing through him, something so small, felt ridiculous to control. It was an odd sensation. He did watch though as the boy used his little device to take the owl away and then grab what appeared to be...fish?

He raised an eyebrow at the boy. "It seems a tad extravagant to store food in such a way...surely one of your ice boxes would do just as well. Or maybe this makes it taste better.." He pondered to himself, tapping his chin causing sparks to fly.

He shrugged "As for your question, no, I was fed earlier, not quite the food I'm used to either so I would prefer to avoid any future...foreign indulgences. I am sorry for breaking your owl but like I said, I did not intend such a strong spell. The elements here are foreign to me, and don't react like the ones back home." He paused.

"But then, since your owl is the first thing that hasnt questioned me while here, I guess I don't mind all that much." He extended his hand "My name is Kaiser, Im going to be living here for awhile, apparently. At least that is what I was told."

"Foreign? Elements not acting like back at home? Are you from another world or something?" Alex asked the guy as he popped in more fillets in his mouth. Really, after being in Hyakuji for a few months you have no choice but to get used to all these crazy unworldly facts. Although, it's not all that bad once you get used to it.

"Alex. Just Alex," He introduced himself, extending his wrist (his hand was full of fillets) for Kaiser to grab and shake, but he immediately withdrew back his hand, "I would shake, but I don't want to be electrocuted," The last thing he wanted was to be zapped by 50,000,000 volt of electricity (assumption).

He swallowed down the last of the fillets and dropped the box on the bed, while dropping himself on the bed, licking his fingers clean. "If you really are from another world, what the hell are you doing here anyway?"

Kaiser withdrew his hand, it would wear off soon, but at the moment, yes, touching would likely prove disastrous for Alex. Kaiser was pretty much a living storm currently, after all. He just nodded in response to Alex's question. "Yes, I'm from a place called Empyrean. The elements there knew me very well and thus would do exactly what I told them, here I am limited to the elements I've always been best with...and even then, the results vary from time to time."

He pondered over what to say about the other question. He knew what had happened, but as to the why and anything else, Alex's guess was as good as any. They had told him that his story would be safe around here, so he saw no personal reason to hide it, nothing political anyway. "I came here, not by choice. In fact, I'm not exactly sure how I did get here."

The electricity began to falter around his body as his hair relaxed and he touched ground. He went to his bed and sat on it, rubbing his temple with his hand. "I was at a royal banquet, we had been warned about assassins, so there were more guards on duty than normal. I was talking politics with my subjects when...A sharp pain hit me from the back." His other hand trailed to the spot he remembered feeling the pain. "I then woke up here"

Alex continued licking his fingers to make it squeaky clean as he listened closely to Kaiser's story. There wasn't much he was letting on. Not that it mattered anyway. But he could get a few things straight. Unfortunately for Kaiser, his old habit of acting smart kicked in. Too bad. You're just gonna have to endure his rant.

"You were talking with your 'subjects', meaning to say you're one of the higher ranked people. If you're from a big empire and you have assassins going about trying to take the life of someone from your empire, I suppose you're kinda in a war with another power. But really, to be assaulted from behind while being with the crowd? That's one brave assassin. Or the assassin is someone from inside the castle who had been placed with enough trust that he could walk up behind you with a club,"
Okay, enough ranting.

"Well, either way, I don't think you're gonna be able to go back anytime soon. Whether it was the one who assaulted you or your ally, the one who sent you here probably wanted you to stay. For the time being, anyway," Alex got up from the bed and picked up the lunchbox, then he made his way to the door. "If you're staying here, then you'd better get used to this place. It's pretty crazy," And the moment he stepped out from the room-

BOOOOM!!!

Alex had just barely ducked out of the way as a massive fireball flew over his head, impacting the wall at the far side of the hallway, followed by some angry outburst from the residents of Yuki dormitory.

"THAT'S HIM!!"

"You better pay for this!"

"He just threw my homework into the toilet!"

"MY LUUUUUNCH!!!"

"Crap," Immediately Alex scampered to the other direction, leaving his subordinate's lunchbox behind, with a horde of angry students rampaging after him in front of Kaiser's room, determined to catch the troublemaker and flush him down the toilet.
