Jameson stood at the gates of the Doki Doki land park. He'd come for a case but that didn't make him any less excited. Before now he'd never once had a reason to come! So he was excited to finally get to enjoy the theme park with friends... even if they were investigating a crime. He was called here by the park's owner, so he had full reign of the entire place! However one major problem had appeared...

If it's an amusement park who do you bring?!

Well obviously he had to bring the newest hire. Jennifer Chase. She was a talented individual he'd met while on the treasure hunt. And as such he had no issues when she had decided to join. Although the story of HOW she got in was entirely another story for another day but suffice it to say he was more convinced than ever that she belonged here on the team...

But if he just brought her that was like.. .a date right?! So he had to bring someone else. And when he sat down to think of it only one person made sense! When you think of a fun place like this then it had to be Fuu! Her excitement and energy made her the obvious choice. Besides, Jameson wanted to spend more time with her and get to know her a bit better. He'd been trying to become close with the whole team lately..

Jen had been hearing the news lately, and of course one article that had caught her interest was none other than the Willicott Detective Agency, but most of all it was none other than from her very own good friend, Fuu. It somehow didn't surprise her at all, that Jameson would go on to found his own detective agency - while she'd only managed to become acquainted with him during the treasure hunt, his reputation spoke volumes for him. While the prospect of playing CSI had its promises, Jen didn't exactly see that as her kind of stuff - but she couldn't exactly make Fuu lose face by turning her down now could she?

After all, it was Fuu herself that had recommended that she joined the WDA crew. And given their experiences in the treasure hunt this Jameson guy seemed like an all around cool guy as well. Besides, if they have an office it would also mean they have stuff that need fixing. Checking her PDA phone, Jen opened the message from Jameson. Doki-Doki Land? Now that was a rather unusual choice of a place for a job interview - she'd expected at first it would be at their office where they could sit down and sort out the details.

Perhaps, she thought - it was one of those job interviews where the prospective employer would want the job-seeker to actually demonstrate that they are capable of performing what is expected of them in the job contract.

There was a small problem however, was that Jen wondered for a job interview, what would one wear for a job interview at a detective agency? Clearly, dress to impress counts for a good first impression, and at job interviews first impressions count for much. As the purple-haired girl approached the gates to Doki-Doki Land, the familiar sight of the one-eyed detective loomed into view. As for Jen herself, she'd decided to fit in with the 50's Crime Noir scene with a plain gray business suit and white dress shirt with a slim black tie. A darker gray trenchcoat and black Fedora completed the outfit.

"Nice to meet you again, Jameson," Jen smiled as she tipped her hat. "So..." the purple-haired girl looked up at the Doki-Doki Land signboard before looking at Jameson. "It seems that you're kinda unconventional when it comes to your job interviews, eh?" Jen wondered.

"Job interview? No fair! You told me she was already in, ya!!" Fuu wailed, punching Jameson playfully in the arm once she appeared. "I told ya she's good so that means she's good. You should learn to trust me more, eheh~! ... Sooo I just spoke with the guy at the counter and he said that we can head on in, but it was still our fault we forgot all our special access-passes. We gotta stick with you now and flash your badge around instead, ya."

Fuu stood up straight, off of her knees and brushed her hair behind the flower. "But it wasn't really MY fault it got burried under all the junk on the bosses desk --an' I keep meaning to get around to sortin' that--'s a nice hat Jen-chan!" She spoke brightly, turning away from Jameson's fedora and to her friend's with a cheerful smile. Fuu was happy to see her here because one, it meant that Jen was actually keen on working for Jameson. And two was on account of the fact that Fuu hadn't been home at Fudo dorm for a few days now.

There was a lot of paperwork to be stamped and emailed, making sure the right people got the right information in a timely fashion, taking messages and scheduling appointments all over Hyakuji. That, and Fuu had gotten attached to the room which she claimed as her own down at the WDA building.

She was basically using that as underwear storage now.

"Heh.. job interviews are not my style.." He tipped his hat back. "I find kids with talent and then show them the ropes.. whether they stay or go is their busines.." He said to Jen before tucking his hands into his pockets. She was in a similar style to Aki, only a little more modern. It was actually kind of cool to have so many fedora-loving employees. Fuu could learn a few things about style from a kid like this! Jameson was impressed!

He moved into the park with his hands dug in, the cool biting air of November left him with chills creeping down his spine. But the thick trench coat did wonders for that. Even so he still had chills.. of excitement! Not only was he on a case it was one for the theme park! that was twice as awesome as a normal case. Best of all was that no one was dead on this case which would be a major downer for a literal day at the park. Crimes like that were too dark for a nice day like this.

Either way he walked into the park quickly, looking around for the source of the thick smell of cotton candy. He wandered over to the concessions area rapidly as he drew out his wallet. "You guys want anything?" He said to them as he approached, ordering a cotton candy for himself and parroting whatever they ordered.

This was the sort of thing he could only indulge in when Oliver wasn't around nagging him to 'stay on track' or 'do your job' like an annoying guy from annoying town population: Oliver.

"Wow, so I see being the ace detective of Hyakuji comes with a whole set of perks," Jen commented after Fuu made mention of special passes - which she had forgotten. "Hey don't worry about it, Fuu-chan, I could always come down to the office to help out with that," Jen reassured her blond-haired friend about the 'junk' on Jameson's desk that she had to sort out. However, with Jameson around the two girls were still able to circumvent the ticket booth and gain free access to Doki-Doki Land premises.

"We're not here merely for a visit to the amusement park, are we?" Jen asked as she followed Jameson. [color#9966CC]"I mean, while your connections allowed us to circumvent the ticket booth, I don't think it gives us free rides or access to the attraction booths..."[/color] the purple-haired girl commented as she checked the Doki-Doki Land directory, displaying a map layout of the amusement park. Most of the standard amusement park fare could be found in Doki-Doki Land - a carousel, a Ferris wheel, a roller coaster, snack stalls, souvenir shops, a videogaming arcade, a 'museum of wonders' - most of the standard works.

Meanwhile, Jameson wandered over to the concessions area, heading over to a nearby cotton candy stand - as Jen soon became aware of the thick, sugary fragrance of freshly-spun cotton candy. "You guys want anything?" The one-eyed super sleuth asked after getting a cotton candy. Jen bit her lower lip thoughtfully at Jameson's offer, glancing around the various snack stalls.

"I suppose I'll take one of these," Jen commented as she walked over to a nearby drinks/desserts stall and opened the ice box to remove a packet of ice-cream puff - a fish-shaped (like a taiyaki) pastry puff with a filling of sweetened red beans and matcha-flavored ice-cream, before glancing over at Fuu, wondering what her countryside friend would like to have.

"Over here, quick-quick, ya." Fuu waved to the vendor after Jameson ordered. Receiving the plate of freshly made Okonomiyaki, Kansai's "whatever you like savory-pancake," on both her hands and smiling as she spun around to face the other two, enjoying their treats.

It was comforting to have a warm plate sitting on her hands as they stood in the nippy winter air, but to be honest, Fuu was freezing her caramel colored tits off.

Wanting to get the blood circulating, she was about to hop off and away to the tables when she bumped into a theme park goer once she turned. "Gahya!!" Fumbling around with her pancake for a few seconds as it bounced in her wobbly hands, before it finally settled on the plate and Fuu could rest easy.

"Um!! Sorry!"
She exclaimed, bowing to the person she'd stepped on.

SPLAT.

Still bent at the waist, Fuu looked at her savory pancake which had slipped off the plate and onto the pavement. Binking twice before looking up at the two J's standing next to her, she said cheerfully,
"What do you know, I'm done! That was delicious, I guess. Eheh~!"

"BWahahah!" Jameson said kneeling over and using his knees for support, laughing at the ridiculously energetic fuu. He was right!! When you thought of theme parks Fuu created the perfect atmosphere!! Either way he rose up wiping his eye as he tore off pieces of the brightly colored sugary fluff. "Of courf were knof fere for carfifal rifes." He said admonishingly towards Jennifer. "fwat kinf of dummy few fink i am?" He said leading the way through the park..

~~~
Finishing up the last of it and stopping to wash his hands in front of an office building he turned to the girls. "Okay!" He said suddenly in a very no-nonsense sort of tone. "Today we're here for work! The case is simple!" He said idly as he turned away from the duo to the office. "A few days ago someone sent in a letter saying that they were planning to 'expose' the park..." He said with a frown as he folded his arms across his chest. "Naturally a threat like that is bad.."
"However it gets worse... The method they used to warn the president was to leave a note in his own home.. Naturally it frightened him so he called the police but the note vanished..." He sighed heavily. "The only ones in the house when it vanished were the president, the vice president, the maid, and the president's ex wife whom are all here today.." He planted his hands in his sides. "Worse yet was that the police can't officially take any action beyond a few extra officers because there was no overt threat of violence and the message itself vanished.. Feeling scared for his own life he called me.."
"Now the main issue here is the threat to the park.. As such I need to be vigilant and constantly moving around trying to feel out the park for anyone with malign intent.. If it's something like a bomb or poison I can't take out time to do interviews.. so it's up to you to interview the suspects. Inside this office is a suspect. One by one they will all stop by for interviews.. get a feel for their stories then come to me.."
"see? A super simple case! No cults or demons or anything!" With that he turned and walked off tapping his chin. "Ferris wheel or merry-go-round first?! both get my heart racing! I'm excited!!"
Jen couldn't help but feel sorry for Fuu, who dropped her okonomiyaki before she could even take a bite out of it - at first when she bumped into a passer-by she almost dropped it, but pulled off a miraculous save, and only to drop it again, and this time on the floor when she bowed down to offer an apology, eliciting a giggle from Jen. "Of courf were knof fere for carfifal rifes." Jameson replied admonishingly, his speech garbled between mouthfuls of cotton candy. "fwat kinf of dummy few fink i am?" Jen nodded at Jameson's comment; she shouldn't have doubted the ace detective as he led them through the park, finishing his cotton candy at an office building.
+-+-+-+-
Jen waited for Jameson to return from washing his hands, where the detective began to brief them on the job at hand. Her guess was right in that the first day on the job involved some form of 'entrance exam', and that would mean tackling a case. The purple-haired investigator nodded as Jameson went over the details, retrieving her PDA phone from the pockets of her trench coat and taking down the notes that she might need to refer back to just in case. "Consider it done boss!" Jen nodded and gave her hat a polite tip after Jameson explained what she would need to head down to the offices to interview the suspects.
Jen pushed open the glass doors leading to the reception area of the office building, where all administration matters for the theme park were handled and where the president/owner of Doki-Doki Land's offices are located. "Say, Fuu-chan, who do you wish to start interviewing first? It'll probably be quicker if went interview the suspects on the list two at a time, then message me the details of whatever the interviewed suspects revealed."
"Excuse me miss, I'm Jennifer Chase and this is Waramurasaki Fuu," The purple-haired girl stepped forth to the reception counter, gesturing towards her tanned friend. "We are representing the Willicott Detective Agency in an investigation, may I please speak to your boss the president?" Jen asked.
"But I thought.. we gonna... what about the... you mean we not gonna........ rides ya...??" Fuu uttered, eying a giddy looking Jameson disappearing over the horizon towards the amusement part of the park, like he'd just snatched the giant lolly pop out from her hand and sucked on it right in front of her.
~*~
As they stood in front of the counter, Fuu stuck a hand down her shirt and retrieved her phone with the lucky frog charm on it, leaning over the bench top and almost peering into the clerk's computer screen continuing on immediately after Jen.
"...And where can I find your butler?" She paused. "Or any other kinda of immigrant doin' demeaning tasks for a low pay?"
Eying Jen with wide eyes before leaning in and whispering to the clerk.
"Oh right! The more they hate their job, the better. Get me a real sour pickle, ya."
As they were ushered back they saw the president himself on the hot seat. The two girls were given a couch across from him. The man sat nervously, wringing his hands as he leaned forward and backwards. He glanced around until his secretary brought him a drink which he accepted gratefully.
"I'm terribly sorry you were all drug down here.." The man said with a nervous laugh. "I really don't know what else do do.. 'exposing' my park.. I haven't any idea what will happen to us if we get some bad press right now... Winter is a slow time anyhow." He said as he looked up to the girl before turning to his cup and downing it. "Not only that but there's been a lot of messy business all around.. all around.."
He placed it down before exhaling slowly. "Where's your boss?" He said looking around. "Is it just you?" He glanced back to the door, fidgeting all the while..
"But I thought.. we gonna... what about the... you mean we not gonna........ rides ya...??" Fuu stammered as Jameson left the two girls to do the work, the village girl appearing like a kid who had been offered a lollipop, only to have the guy offering the candy pull away at the last minute and, to add insult to injury walk away licking the lollipop. Clucking her tongue sympathetically, Jen simply rested a hand on Fuu's shoulder and patted her reassuringly.
"Come on Fuu-chan, I'm sure we'll have plenty of time to enjoy the rides and attractions the sooner we get this case out of the way - besides, I think I oughta buy you another okonomiyaki to make up for the one Mr. Floor ate," Jen patted Fuu reassuringly after Jameson vanished into the milling throngs. And of course, she was also eager to challenge the air rifle range and try for a prize or two once all this was over and done with. They didn't have to wait long before they were ushered in the meet the president, a nervous wreck of a man who fidgeted in his seat every now and then, glancing around as though expecting someone or something to jump at him from the corner of his eye like some B-grade monster or slasher flick. Jen and Fuu found seats on a couch across the room from his desk before the president addressed them. And in the spirit of the good old 50's, Jen politely removed her hat, resting the Fedora on her lap before sitting down.
"I'm terribly sorry you were all drug down here.." The man laughed nervously as his secretary brought him a drink. "I really don't know what else do do.. 'exposing' my park.. I haven't any idea what will happen to us if we get some bad press right now... Winter is a slow time anyhow." The park president eyed the two girls as he chugged his drink. "Not only that but there's been a lot of messy business all around.. all around.."
"But I digress, ojisan; messy business is all over Hyakuji - not just Doki-Doki Land," Jen mused - although from the bits and pieces of news she'd gathered about Hyakuji, Doki-Doki Land appeared to take some of the worst of the messy business the town had a habit of getting into. (and not surprisingly most of it was something started by its student body) With one of the most notorious being that incident from the past year involving their animated park mascot going Godzilla-size and the subsequent rampage, covered by a rare and extremely hard to find Manly News article. "But please, do continue..."
"Where's your boss?" He asked as he set the cup down, still looking around nervously. "Is it just you?"
"I'm afraid it's just me and my colleague Fuu-chan here," Jen replied. "Jameson's out in the park to keep an eye out on any suspicious activity, so he's put the two of us in charge of questioning the suspects. But you were saying the message that threatened to 'expose' your theme park simply vanished from your home shortly after it was received? You know, just wanting to make sure..." Jen paused briefly before continuing. Now, there was a possibility that the message might have been misplaced by one of the possible suspects Jameson pointed out. But a more sinister possibility might also exist, that the letter was deliberately destroyed to hide the evidence.
"Just so that I may get a clue or two on where to start... who was the person who originally received the message?" Jen asked. "And who was the last person to have handled it before it vanished? I hope your memory still serves you well on that." Sure, several possibilities exist - but Jen figured that the most efficient approach is to first narrow down the list of suspects.
As Jen began the questioning, Fuu tried not to be so swept up in how awesome her friend looked while doing a real investigation, and focussed on taking down notes. Using this moment to look up from her scribbles, she tapped the tip of her pen to her temple.
"Is that drink too hot for you? It looks like you're breaking a sweat, ya."
The idea that he could be worried about the strange letter seemed to be lost on Fuu. After all, it was just a letter, and it hadn't done anything yet. And "exposing" the park sounded like a good thing! How else did the manager expect to get costumers in the slow season?!
She looked at Jen.
"Why'd he wanna see the boss and not us. Have you been going around and terrorising folks, Jen-chan?"
"My housekeeper was cleaning while my ex-wife was visiting the kids. Due to various.. problems she lost them to me in the divorce. She was visiting in the adjacent room while me and my vice president had a meeting about the park.. That's when i got up to get a glass of water for my ex-wife because she complained about being thirsty.. That's when I found it.."
"I was the only one in the room to see the note. It was on my Dining-room table. From the dining-room there are two entrances. One leads into the kitchen the other into the living room. I left the dining-room into the living room but in our house there is a dividing wall in the living room separating the t-v area from the play area for the kids.. due to this I couldn't see back through the door into the dining-room. anyone could have entered through the other hallway and gotten into the dining-room to remove the note..."
http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/4364/floorplane.png
"As such I can't narrow down the suspects.. also when I brought in my friend the vice president of the company the note was gone so no one but me saw it.. They all believed me but the police were unable to do much on a note only i saw once... It was a terrible situation all around.. I called the police right after I found it.. They ruled that due to the only window into the house having a large flower bed and the rains that no one could have gotten in without tracking some mud or dirt in or out.. so it had to be from within the house. Especially considering the windows were all locked from the inside.."
"Is that all you need...?"
Jen nodded thoughtfully after the president of Doki-Doki Land finished his witness account, the purple-haired girl playing out a re-enactment of the entire event in her mind. An ex-wife who remained on friendly terms, even going so far as to visit her ex-husband. The mysterious note with its threatening message was found on the table in the dining room when he went to fetch a drink for his ex-wife. Said message was gone the moment he brought his friend, the vice-president over to take a look. The first question was of course, who could have taken the note away?
At least as far as the president's eyewitness account went, he was the only one who got to read the note before it vanished. As far as he was concerned, whoever took the note away didn't sneak in from outside, due to his home having only one window (which wasn't locked at that time) that led outdoors, and even then one had to cross a flowerbed to get to the window - and given the rainy weather that day it would've been impossible (without using some form of special ability) to sneak in through the window without leaving a trail of some sort.
"Is that all you need...?"
Jen furrowed her brows in deep thought as she took down the notes on her PDA. "One more question, president-san, my last one for you..." The purple-haired girl raised her right index finger. "While you were contacting your friend the vice-president, did anyone else enter the dining room?" It was entirely plausible, based on facts and figures she had memorized that while he was busy calling the vice-president someone who was with him in the house at that time - which would be his ex-wife, or the house maid - could've snuck past him into the dining room and taken the note. But one thing was clear, it meant that everyone who was in the house with him at that time were considered suspects and would need to be thoroughly interviewed.
Looking up from her notes, now filled with doodles of what her dream underwear would be like, (cherry red convertible complete with twin bow accents, FYI,) Fuu gave her full attention at Jen's mention of the word 'dining room,'
"Wooowwww... A dining room! Your house sounds nice Mister president." Putting her note and her hands in her lap, she leaned in a little towards the unsettled man and asked dreamily, "What's it like to live in a nice house~?"
Fuu didn't realise she wasn't helping the investigation, and probably wouldn't if no body was willing to put themselves out there and tell her.
"Huff. How many more witnesses or suspects or what-are-we-calling-them? do we have to talk to like this, ya?? I wanna win a panda bear already....."
