Clarissa wasted no time, not ever. Clad in a white and red professional woman's suit, glasses on, hair tied back...she was ready for business. She finished moving in only hours before and decided to set out on her search immediately for this...Arcadia. So far though...the day was quite uneventful and to her complete shock...unfruitful. With a deep sigh, Clarissa sat herself down on a bench in the downtown district of Hyakuji in a huff. It was already getting late in the day and sunset was upon the city. Clarissa was hopeful still and was determined to find at least some lead today.

"Well...Where too now Balacroft?", Clarissa asked her inanimate Grimoire for a moment as she placed it gently on her lap.

She was about to head home in a moment, get some sleep and try again tomorrow before she noticed the first occult related...anything this day. A bookstore...located next to a cafe. The cafe was beginning to be shut down for the day but the story was what peaked Clarissa's interests more so. Maids were fine and dandy but a bookstore always had answers. Not the answers one was always looking for but answers nonetheless. Clarissa decided to head in, if not to find out any information but simply to shop. Bookstores and Occult shops were always so much fun to be in.

~~~~~~~~~~~
A few moments later and Clarissa found herself in the book store. Eldritch Influence was the name upon further inspection and the store was empty at this time...or appeared so. She was certain it was still open but with no one around, she decided to simply browse the wears and books that lined the store's insides. The books were fine choices of literature for any occult follower, magician, or the like. Some even she was unaware of were stacked and placed side by side. Gripping her Grimoire, Clarissa stepped further into the shop and stopped for a moment when she noticed something quite familiar.
"A Hematic Spell Circle?", she uttered quickly before taking a book off the self on sacrificial blood magic.
Her brother, Allen, used such magic and the circles he used were quite...forbidden indeed. Using one's own blood...or the blood of others to create powerful spells instead of mana or the elements around them baffled most. But he was one of the most powerful wizards she knew. The circle brought back memories of old and a smile found it's way to her face. Most would find looking at a book full of blood sacrifice a shocking and scary thing...But all Clarissa could do was smile. Even in such magic, she found a respect for the craft and was glad to see someone else in the world thought this too to have published such a book.
"Hmm...", Clarissa mumbled before placing the book back and walking about the store some more.
"That's an interesting book you have," a voice called out as Hiro Tsukasa peered from around the corner of the bookshelf the woman was at. In truth, he'd been watching her for a few moments. Not for his usual reasons, but because of the magical energies he'd suddenly sensed. Though granted given in any other possible scenario besides this one that would have most certainly been the case.
Moments earlier, he had been working in the back room as usual sifting through some recent acquisitions and cataloging their contents. The more dangerous items were shuffled to the most out of the way places to avoid any of the store's workers accidentally setting something off.
A part of Hiro wondered if he shouldn't make the back room entirely off limits, but at the same time there was something fun about a little random chaos from time to time. In the end, whatever problems came up things got handled and mostly resolved in the end. Ultimately, it was just part of the charm that came with working there.
He had sensed the power almost the instant Clarissa entered the store. Curious, this prompted Hiro to slip out from the back room and brought him to his current state; peering around the shelf studying the source. Something wasn't adding up right.
Even only being able to glance at a fraction of the cover of the book she was carrying led Hiro to believe it wasn't just an ordinary everyday kind of book. However, she was also gorgeous. Gorgeous lady, odd maybe magical book, it was obviously a trap? Someone was clearly playing to all of Hiro's interests at once. But then why? Or had the recent re-appearance of the Hellfire Club simply made him edgy?
Stepping out from behind the shelf Hiro, dressed as usual, waved a greeting slowly as he continued in a cheery tone, "Hiro Tsukasa, I'm the owner here."
The man who appeared was interesting to say the least. Clarissa couldn't sense a single thing of him a moment before but there he was and now felt his presence obviously. He was older then she was by a bit and was your typical...oh well he wasn't typical at all really. Most men who own these type of stores are either powerful evil wizards who wore cloaks and fed off the souls of children...or were creepers who only believe in magic but knew nothing of it and he seemed...well...neither. Hopefully he wasn't the first...but more so the second one. Well, His introduction seemed simple and friendly enough so Clarissa smiled and waved back before speaking her mind.
"Good Evening Hiro, My name is Clarissa Florence and I must say your store is wonderful. I haven't seen such a collection of text in far too long.", She said with a smile before looking down at her Grimoire for a moment.
"Oh and you mean my Grimoire?", She continued, opening Balacroft for a moment to show Hiro that all of it's pages were..."Blank".
Or so she thought he would see. A magician of Hiro's caliber would see the three spells that Clarissa knew, the magic circle's required to cast them, and much more information that was recorded about her magic. Most of the pages were indeed blank but still held magic runes on each page, waiting to be "written on". Once opened, one could sense the near infinite amounts of magical energy the spell book held, waiting for Clarissa to tap into even a small fraction of its mighty energy. Endless potential remained in this book...but Clarissa was only human would probably never see what it was truly capable of.
"Not all too interesting is it?", Clarissa said, playing dumb for a moment with her words.
She wasn't really...lying to him. She wanted to see his reaction to the book as it would explain a lot about him. Clarissa held her tongue for a moment to gauge his reaction but couldn't help but look at him as a whole either. He was attractive...fine she could give him that. Pretty faces were pretty deceiving at times and from personal experience and she'd be sure to watch this one carefully as long as he was in her presence.
"Seriously? Not that interesting?" Hiro repeated with a laugh as he pointed to the book, "I'd call what is essentially a 'learning' Grimoire pretty damn interesting." To Hiro it was clear. The first few pages she had flipped through had detailed information on the casting of certain spells. The rest, though mostly blank held certain runes and symbols suggesting instantly to Hiro that over time more spells might be uncovered by its owner.
"So," Hiro continued with a slight laugh as he crossed his arms slowly, "Clarissa Florence. Gorgeous woman... new into town, I'm assuming, since we've never met.... you're also obviously a mage or those first pages wouldn't be filled out in the book... are you here to kill me or was this really just random luck?" He smirked slightly. He had been way too on edge lately.
However, it was decidedly rare that new mages came to Hyakuji; even as students at the school. Therefore, it was far more likely it had something to do with Hiro, some past foe, the Hellfire Club, someone wanting him gone once more. In the past he probably would have just relaxed, hit on the gal and if there was something evil behind it all he'd tackle it when the time came.
But things were getting out of hand in the city again. Wo-Shing expanding, the Wizard Saints poking their noses into things, Arcadia's problems and the school was slowly going under. He couldn't afford his usual carefree attitude; not yet anyways. Still, was it really fair to be so accusatory towards a potential customer and who knows, maybe even a friend.
"Sorry, I didn't mean that," he suddenly added in an apologetic tone as he turned his gaze to the floor, "You've met me at a pretty rough time. Things have been crazy recently and I'm a little on edge..."
Clarissa looked at Hiro with a slightly amused grin placed on her face. His assumptions were all wrong but hers on the contrary were all right. He was indeed a powerful magician to see the writing on another's grimoire, especially Clarissa's which was protected so her plan was a success. She had found another magician here in Hyakuji and perhaps the key to getting the information she desired about Arcadia and even more so about Magic in general.
"Please...Don't be sorry. If I was sent to kill you Hiro, I would be dressed far less professional and I would have attacked you already. Alas, I am simply a magician, not an assassin so you will have to look elsewhere for an opponent.", She said with a sarcastic tone to her voice to break the stressful and suspicious air about them right now.
"We all have bad days, It's up to us to work through them and learn from them. I have come here for a reason however. It's just random coincidence that a magician strolled into your store. I am looking for knowledge...knowledge of all things that things that deal with magic.", Clarissa said with a smile before closing her Grimoire and stepping a bit closer to Hiro.
"Well, I'm sure you don't share information with random strangers so perhaps we can get dinner and get to know each other better?", Clarissa said, letting her long scarlet hair down, showing it's length before strapping Balacroft to her side to free her arms.
Who knew? Perhaps she had made a new friend in all this. It wasn't everyday she met a magician either so even if he knew nothing of Arcadia and the strange happenings of Hyakuji then so be it. It was always good to converse with people...and he wasn't to bad looking either. It was a win win.
"I'm sure I wouldn't need to look far," Hiro laughed commenting on her sentiment about looking elsewhere for an opponent. In any case, it seemed as if she were telling the truth. It struck Hiro a bit odd she was so upfront about things, but then again hadn't he been the same way when he first came to Hyakuji?
However, then she threw out a curve ball. "D-Dinner?" Hiro repeated nervously half-questioning if she had really asked that, "Ah... uh..." His words trailed off slowly as his mind began racing trying to piece together what was going on.
"She just asked US out to dinner?!"
"What do we do?"
"A girl never asked us out first before in any situation ever before this!"
"Is it really not a trap?"
"Maybe we should just play along..."
Hiro shut his eyes slowly for a second as he laughed nervously. It probably wasn't a good idea to hold an internal conversation with yourself; he needed a vacation. If she didn't already know of him then she probably had no connection to the greater part of the organized magical community which meant this was sincerely just a random stroke of fate. There wouldn't be in any harm; in the end.
"Alright then," Hiro laughed as a cheerful grin worked across his face, "If you want knowledge about magic then you lucked into the perfect person. I'll just close the shop early and we can go." Slowly, Hiro paced over to the front desk and reached over behind it drawing forth the store keys and then making his way to the front door he opened it and then held it for Clarissa to step through.
"It's not a big deal," he added, "We virtually never get customers this late. You're just an exception it seems."
Clarissa found this one amusing. He was charming but when asked to dinner he looked like he got hit by a train full of pretty naked ladies. She couldn't help but laugh a bit at his reaction and then how quickly he gathered himself before grabbing his keys swiftly. He was the perfect person for knowledge based on magic? How perfect. She was expecting a 900 year old wizard with a long white beard and a hunchback peering through a glass ball really. You'd be surprised how many of those there are in the world...
"Wonderful! Ok then...", Clarissa said with a pleased look on her face as Hiro ran over and held the door open.
"I'm an exception? Aww you are just saying that to flatter me.", she finished playfully with a smile before patting the young man on the chest a bit before walking out of the store before him.
Clarissa didn't fear anything...at least to her own knowledge. Always confident to the point she could be a bit brash but that's the way she's always been. She worked hard to be where she was today as a magician and was proud of who she was. She was far from the best but she did her best which counted the most to her. She had much to learn about life, love, trust, and magic but she was willing to spearhead that en devour no problem.
"Well...You know the city far better then I. Where too? And it's my treat. I have to pay being I asked you and what kind of date would it be if I didn't?", She said with a bit of a giggle at the end of her sentence, hinting she wasn't entirely serious...or was she.
After Clarissa exited the store, Hiro followed shutting and locking up the shop behind him. Pointing down the street he began to walk in that direction as he explained, "We'll go to Subarashii. It's pretty calm and laid back; plus it's one of the popular locations in the city." As the duo began to walk they would find the streets were most empty as night began to set on Hyakuji.
"So this is a date now huh," Hiro questioned with a curious tone at the way she had spoken, "Frequent dater or was it love at first sight?" Teasing her he then stuck his tongue out as he laughed playfully. He certainly wouldn't have minded it being a date, but then he really didn't know enough about the woman to be totally certain of that.
He still wasn't ready to just accept the situation at face value, but he assumed he could play it like the old days. For now, simply enjoy the conversation and see where things went. If there was trouble, he'd just the cross the bridge when he came to it.
"Seriously though," Hiro continued as he shook his head slowly, "What kind of information are you looking for that brought you to Hyakuji?" How long had it been since he actually got to talk to another mage that wasn't just a student? Luna could barely count for the short time the group had been in Europe and Eleanor vanished again quick as she turned up before.
"Well, Why not a date? And I don't know you well enough to love you...and I don't normally date so figure that one out.", She said with a playful smile as she walked alongside her evening companion.
Clarissa could tell his guard was up and he probably had his reasons. If she was too have him comfortable enough to talk, she would need to air out the reason why she was here entirely. Arcadia was a secret organization and she couldn't be dropping it's name around willy-nilly as to spark suspicion or she could lose it's trail forever and have come to Hyakuji for no reason at all. She would take her chances though...something said this one was much more then he seemed.
"I am...I have come here in search of Arcadia. I believe that joining such an organization will teach me much about this world's powers and of magic in general. Regardless of how it seems, I am still at an apprentice level and I have much to learn.", She said with truth behind her words and determination behind her heart.
This meant everything to her...She needed to become a magician that made her family proud...not for them but for herself. She wanted to know everything she could about magic and the world around her. She wanted a lot of things...but would take it one step at a time.
"Confidence and playful flirting aside Hiro, I have come to Hyakuji to learn everything I can but am I bit too old to enroll in the school it seems. So this is my only option.", She finished with a smile before pushing some stray strands of scarlet hair behind her ear and out of her face.
"That makes sense I suppose," Hiro commented taking extra care to avoid the issue of Arcadia for the moment, "If you can't enroll then by trial of elimination this city is still your best likely chance to improve your abilities anyways." It was another curve ball that the woman mentioned Arcadia. Rumors were abound about them; no doubt. The name was heard of, but beyond this little more was known by the general public.
As they reached the restaurant Hiro once again held the door open for her and then moments later they were seated out of the way at a small booth located in the corner of Subarashii. Once they were seated Hiro continued their conversation from earlier.
"Well, if you did want to learn more it is fortunate we met," Hiro explained, "I'm probably one of the strongest sorcerers in the city. I teach the Supernatural Studies course at the high school as well." He always felt awkward discussing himself. It would have been far nicer to learn more about Clarissa, but it was probably important to her to know exactly who he was right away.
"But what's this Arcadia thing you were talking about?" he questioned still playing with a straight face and masking his knowledge of the subject as he continued their discussion. Truth be told, if everything did pan out, then she was the perfect recruit for Arcadia; maybe even more. His old apprentice had vanished and ultimately he ended up missing having someone to share in his magical endeavors.
Clarissa's timing on coming was JUST off by a year. Any younger she could have enrolled but alas, she had already completed high school and was just old enough to be...old. A shiver rolled down her spin to think she was old but then corrected her thoughts and pointed out she was indeed just nineteen. Thought like those were for the cougars of the world which she was not. Age wasn't something to fear but to want as it normally comes with knowledge and respect. But those were thoughts for another day...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Chivalry isn't dead here it seems. Thank you.", Clarissa said with a smile as Hiro held the door open once again for her.

The restaurant had a nice feel to it and where they were sitting was cozy and secluded enough for them to speak about what Clarissa brought up before. As Hiro spoke, Clarissa listened and smiled as her "feelings" were well felt. He indeed was a powerful magician, probably far stronger then her. It was surprising really how easily she found such a powerful wizard so quickly but luck was with her and she'd be damned to question it now.

"But what's this Arcadia thing you were talking about?"

Damn it...If one of the strongest magicians in the city didn't know about it then how was she suppose to seriously find them. There was the chance that it was all a rumor and simply just that and the thought brought a bit of sorrow to her face. Well...he did ask and she was going to simply tell him what she heard. Besides, he was a powerful magician himself which made the trip here not completely in vain. She could probably learn a lot from him alone if he was willing so pouting and sulking now would get her nowhere.

"Well...I've heard that its a group of talented power-wielding youths that combat the horrors, demons, paranormal and the sort that plague Hyakuji but also Japan itself. I've heard of their exploits in rumors all over Japan during my stay and I decided to seek them out myself.", Clarissa said with a smile on her face before peaking at the drink menu for something non-alcoholic but tasty nonetheless.

"...If I could join such an organization and experience what they do as well as fight alongside such talented people...I feel I could learn so much. I do not fear anything that would come our way but embrace such things as I wish to know all I can about the paranormal and the like.", Clarissa finished before giving another look at the menu.

"But alas...I seem to be following a rumor and nothing else at the moment. I have faith they are real but their headquarters being in Hyakuji could simply be untrue.", She finished before finding something that looked delicious.

"Ooo...They sell milkshakes. I could use a Vanilla one...How about you? What are you going to start our evening off with?", She said with a smile before putting down her menu for a moment to look her "date" in the eyes.

She changed the topic...but still wished he knew more about Arcadia. Well...she found a friend at least in the city and that was a good thing and he was cute so that was a plus. She was on a date after all and she should enjoy it whatever the circumstances were. It wasn't Hiro's fault he didn't know about Arcadia after all.

"I'll have a vanilla milkshake too, I suppose," Hiro spoke thoughtfully after pausing a few moments to gaze over the menu. Moments later one of the waitresses had come by and taken their initial order. The restaurant was as it always was; calm and laid back.

As her eyes met with Hiro's a smile grew slowly across his face. She was breathtakingly gorgeous. Still, before he let himself get lost in the situation it was probably for the best he became clear about Arcadia. "Well," he continued, "I think I should get serious for a moment. Let me tell you up front that depending on how this goes you may be walking out of here with no memory of meeting me; I have to be careful..."

As he let his words trail off slowly Hiro leaned in over the table to get as close to Clarissa as possible continuing the conversation at a hushed whisper as he smirked slightly, "You're actually speaking to Arcadia's leader." If everything she had said so far was true, and she seemed sincere enough by this point, then it would be a simple matter of adding her to the organization. However, if that wasn't the case Hiro would be forced to wipe her memories of their encounter.

Unpleasant, as it always was, but he had to keep Arcadia a perfect secret. It was fine for the rumors to exist. Maybe even having those circulating would dissuade some people for digging into troublesome occult matters in the first place. However, he couldn't compromise the safety of everyone that fought so hard for the group.

"I have to be very careful with who knows, it's no offense to you. But at this point your only real choices are to join or forget we met I'm afraid," Hiro spoke in an apologetic tone as he laughed quietly. Even if he was going to offer her a place in Arcadia that didn't mean he wouldn't be a tease with the situation.

Clarissa was indeed shocked at Hiro's words...could he truly be who she was looking for? This was too good to be true but if Hiro was indeed who he said he was, Clarissa was the luckiest woman alive. She reached up and placed her hand on his face for a moment before putting a single finger in front of his lips to halt his laughter. She needed silence to think this over...

"Hmm...Alright then Hiro. You know my answer is an astounding yes to joining the organization but I want proof first. I don't just trust every cute-faced, bookstore owning, wizard that happens to appear in my life. If you are truly their leader then you must be light years ahead of be in magical talents. So before I follow you anywhere...Prove it to me.", She said before removing her delicate finger from his mouth and gently pushing him back to his seat as she noticed the waitress was coming back with their shakes.

She gave Hiro a pleasant smile and acted as if nothing had changed as the waitress dropped off their drinks and with a polite nod before strolling back away. Clarissa was silent for a moment, eyeballing the young man up and down as if this was a poker game rather then a date. She took a sip of her milkshake from the cutely decorated straw beneath her without breaking eye-contact with the man across the table from her. She widened her smile and nodded before speaking.

"I believe you for some reason...But I still want to see it. I bet not a lot see it and live to tell about it.", She said playfully as a couple behind them looked over their shoulders and stared blankly at the sound of that sentence.

"I think I'm starting to grow fond of you," Hiro admitted with a laugh as his eyes remained locked on hers. Her unusual forwardness held a rather unique allure for Hiro. Primarily, that it was something he rarely encountered and so personally he didn't know exactly how to deal with it. It was a once in a million occasion that Hiro Tsukasa was caught off guard in this way.

"I'll prove myself," he continued, "But after we're done here. I'm not about to skip out on a date with a beautiful woman just for business." Laughing slightly again, Hiro took a sip of his milkshake slowly as he mulled over the situation. It had been a series of lucky breaks after lucky breaks, for Clarissa, if everything she said was true.

It was pretty hard to believe, but at the same time Hiro knew some people could just be that supernaturally lucky. Hell, for some people it could even been developed so far as to be considered a power by the school. In the end, it was unlikely but probable.

"So where are you staying? I imagine you just moved into to town," Hiro continued their conversation now interested in learning more about her in general, "If you need help with settling in or anything I'd be glad to assist you."

"I think I'm starting to grow fond of you.."

"Fond already? You haven't seen anything yet Hiro.", Clarissa said with a playful smile before taking another sip of her milkshake and getting back to the date instead of harping on the battle proposal.

He wouldn't buckle under the pressure it seemed. This was rare in men his age and in most men in general. Most found Clarissa's forcefulness...well...forceful, too much even. She always thought she had far too much to learn in her lifetime to be wasting it during a meeting like most would. This was already out of the ordinary for her...sitting and enjoying dinner with someone...being on a date. It's rare but she was a young woman after all and she needed to take life a bit less serious every now and then too.

"As for where I am staying, It's...quite close to your bookstore actually. I was on my way home and sat on a bench, thinking that I was on a wild goose chase and was about to call it day. I just moved in this morning to be honest and I didn't bring much, just books, clothes, some furniture, and a bed. I'm not even unpacked yet.", She said with a smile before finishing up her shake and spinning the straw a bit around with her hand.

"I suppose after we have our little tumble and you prove you aren't all talk...You can show me around.", She said playfully before sticking her tongue out a bit at him.

"Well...I'm starving. I don't know about you but I'm going to get some Spicy Tuna Rolls. You?", She said, pointing at her choice on the menu happily.
