The rain continued to fall from the skies of Hyakuji as Ikki skated his way down the streets of the city. The rumor about what happened to the school was spreading quickly and he was pretty sure, that soon something was going to have to be done. He knew he could call in a favor from his grandfather, but knew that the man would not do it, seeing as he would claim that helping the school is a 'conflict of interest'. Ikki let out a sigh as he came to a stop in front of Eldritch Influence. It would seem as if Hiro had finished making out some of the writing on the book and needed to speak to him. To Ikki it seemed as if the book was the last thing on his mind. With everything that had been happening with him, a book was the least of his worries. He reached out slowly pushing the front door to the store open. The store was strangely empty, something that seemed to be odd, if there wasn't at least one customer, then Hiro almost always had a visitor. Ikki walked in taking off his backpack, and setting it on the counter. He let out a slight groan as he stretched out. School had been a bit rough, but then again when wasn't a day at Hyakuji rough? He glanced around the store and walked behind the counter taking one of the Yu-Gi-Oh packs, he quickly opened it looking at the cards inside. " Ah syncro monsters! Hmm I do miss playing this card game with Hiroka." Ikki said to himself as he flipped through the cards, studying them one by one, making sure to read the effects, to the point he memorized them. He figured Hiro wouldn't mind him taking one pack....a day.... " Yo sensei! You here?!" Ikki yelled as he looked towards the ceiling. He figured if Hiro was here, he was either in the back room, or in his room upstairs, either way Ikki was to lazy at the moment to go look for him. Edited by Crow Hiroshima, Nov 9 2010, 04:45 AM.

"If you want to slip those on and off," Hiro called out as he exited from the back room packing the all important book in question, "Then you'll have to agree to play me one day to make up for it." Laughing softly, Hiro gave a friendly wave towards Ikki as he approached the front counter. It wasn't that Hiro was particularly interested in Duel Monsters, but since his ordeal with the Millennium Items and all that they brought he gained a sort of respect for the origins of the children's card game. It also helped the cards were one of the few things in the store that sold well and being knowledgeable on the subject meant better sales. Gently, Hiro tossed the book down on the counter in front of Ikki. "Like I said when I called you," he continued, "I've made considerable progress with the translation. I figured it was far enough along that you might want to know what I've discovered." These cases were Hiro's favorite type of thing to work on. Mysterious old books that needed translations or further investigation to uncover the secrets of the past held within. Truth be told, if he weren't so attached to Hyakuji he would most likely be traveling the world again. Not as a monster hunter, as he once was, but as an explorer or even a treasure hunter; not for the prize itself but the simple glory of uncovering the unknown. |

" Ah sensei! Hehe I'm not very good, although I competed in the world championship last year....came in third...." Ikki said with an accomplished grin on his face. He was quite proud of his achievements before coming to Hyakuji. " Mom was right. You are good. Don't know how she was able to know that your the one to come too, but then again your quite famous." He said smiling as he placed his hands behind his head. But then it hit him, the one thing he had been dreading telling Hiro. " Sensei I have been trying to come to terms with being here, but a lot has happened but something else has been bothering me....the festival when I read your fortune....." Ikki paused looking at the ground before opening his mouth to speak. " Since reading your fortune...I've been experiencing your....memories...a few... And when I see them I feel the pain you felt...the heartache, the physical...and its staring to scare me. Sensei...your life is the most terrifying I've ever seen... You have been through so much. How the hell do you keep going?" Ikki said as he turned the chair around facing the door, before turning back to Hiro. The memories had been flowing for awhile since he accidentally blurted out Eleanor's name. Since then the nightmares have gotten worse and more intense. |

"People are not born into that strength of character and fortitude of spirit." Called a noble voice from the back. Morgan gracefully walked out in the well-lit front of the store, a few steps behind her new magical mentor. She adjusted her cravat, freshly changed from a hard afternoon cleaning up that disaster he inelegantly referred to as a living quarters. "Manager Tsukasa is strong precisely because of what he's been through. If he hadn't, we would not be looking at the same man today." Morgan felt a great respect for him and despite their wildly differing histories and personalities something about him just made her feel inspired. The butler nodded toward the book in question with the slightest tip of her head and then looked back at Crow down the edge of her nose. "I'm assuming you're the owner of the book he's been mulling over all day?" Morgan didn't wait for a response before scoffing. "you sure ask a lot of someone without expecting anything in return. He's been working extremely hard for you and after what he's been through already we don't need him working himself to death over something you could handle yourself with the right reference books." The man never seemed to turn down a favor. It was going to get him killed one day. Something about seeing him so focused on this boy's task had really irked her, though Morgan could not quite place her finger on it. And if she was going to bother to put on the maid outfit for him anyway, the least he could do was pay attention. Not that she cared if he noticed, but at least if she didn't have to change that was one less consideration to get in the way of actual work. Morgan's single eye flashed Hiro a dirty look before looking downward at the text. "What is that curio all about anyway?" Morgan hadn't had a chance to get a good look at it since Hiro had kept his face in it all morning and afternoon and old books were a bit of a favorite of hers. One of the few curiosities she allowed herself to have. |

"I suppose Morgan is right," Hiro added, "It's the fact I've gone through stuff like that and come out in the end that I've become stronger. If I stopped to wallow in it all, I would probably become overwhelmed anyways." He laughed softly as he turned to gaze back and Morgan and give her the sort of grin he was sure would lit the fires of anger in her. "Though I am a little concerned that you're dreaming my past," Hiro admitted with a nervous laugh, "I hope you're not seeing everything in there..." He let his words trail off as he easily racked up at least a hundred incidents he was quite sure he'd really prefer a student of his not to know. "Anyways, translating this is fine," Hiro added, "I was interested in the book from the moment I saw it. Even if Ikki hadn't asked I probably would have offered anyways. It turned out to be a familiar field also so that's a bonus." Reaching for the tome he flipped it open towards the middle of the book for the duo to see. "Though I'm not totally done with the translation, I do know this book compromises two parts. The first recounts history from Ancient Egypt," he began, "However, it's actually a bit more complicated than being a simple history book. This tome recounts what you might consider dark history... that is... relating to supernatural or other supernormal events that for whatever reason were removed from any sort of appearance in proper history books that have carried on until today. The second part is a sort of spell book with all the proper methods for the rituals and incantations transcribed meticulously." "I'm fairly certain it's not only legit," Hiro concluded, "But also the writings are factually accurate. I came across several things that line up with bits of information I already discovered a few semesters back while at Hyakuji which I already know are true." |

Tarin calmly entered the store to start her shift. Even though most of the time the store was rather empty and uneventful, she wasn't surprised when she saw Hiro and a couple of others inside. It was not uncommon for Hiro to personally handle "special requests" from clients. Understandable, since he was supposed to be one of the world's leading experts on the world of magic and the supernatural. However, what did surprise her was that Ikki, of all people, was here. She knew for a fact that it wasn't his shift, so the only other possible explanation was that he was Hiro's client. She also saw that Morgan was present. Tarin didn't know him (or her? It was honestly very difficult to tell.) but she did know that the butler worked in the adjoining maid cafe next door (Also owned by Hiro, but she wouldn't judge. Every man had their quirks.). It was also not uncommon for Morgan to wander into Eldritch Influence for whatever reason. When she entered, she could hear only bits of the conversation. Just a few random things about a book, Egyptian history, and magic. Things seemed on par for the course considering Ikki was involved. "Hello, Mr. Tsukasa. I'm here to start my shift." Tarin greeted her boss as she entered, like any good subordinate would do. She also nodded to Ikki and Morgan in silent recognition before going off to continue her duties. She was in employee mode right now and didn't want to seem unprofessional by trading banter with Ikki during work hours. She pretended not to take an interest in their conversation, but made sure to start organizing books in the adjacent row so she could still listen in. Edited by SpoonofEvil, Nov 11 2010, 08:01 PM.

" Well someone is a b*tch...." Ikki thought to himself as his eyes glanced at Morgan. The woman seemed to have an attitude with Ikki over the request he made to Hiro, but to Ikki her opinion didn't matter much, there was a job that needed to be handled, and he would make sure that the book got translated. " I won't go into detail sensei, but let's just say I hope my life with women is as fun as your's when I get older hehe." Ikki stated with a sly grin on his face as he looked to Hiro with an approving smile. " Well Ms. If it was that simple I would have done it myself, but this book required a more delicate touch, not to mention as much as I know about these types of things I'm not an expert, that's why I came to Hiro-sensei." Ikki stated very agitated by her comments. He turned to Hiro locking his eyes on his teacher while he spoke. " I saw the spells in the back, but could never figure out what they where for. Figured your the mage sensei. So you could make some sense out of it.." He said as he looked to the book, opening to one of the far back pages scanning the page, he couldn't make out much but figured Hiro could. Just then Ikki looked up in time to see Tarin make her way into the store. Ikki quickly turned his head away from her looking back to the book. Things with Tarin where strange to say the least. With everything that was happening with Ikki one more incident was sure to scare the girl away, so Ikki figured the best way to avoid that was to stay away from her. Not just to keep peace, but for her protection. " Ikki that book... Where did you find it?" Kal spoke from within Ikki's mind. " Huh? Oh mom found it in Egypt.. We couldn't translate it so we gave it to sensei..why do you ask?" Ikki responded with a curious tone. " Nothing....its nothing....." Ikki blinked outwardly in confusion as he shook his head to try to push Kal out of it. " Hmm so from what you say its a document of history of some sort, of something forgotten?" He asked shifting back and forth in the chair. Edited by Crow Hiroshima, Nov 12 2010, 12:02 AM.

"Glad to see you as always, Tarin," Hiro greeted her cheerfully before motioning for her to join them, "Since this is the star of the hour you should check it out too. We're discussing a tome I was translating for Ikki." He really didn't want to say more about what memories Ikki might or might not have viewed of his so it was best to forge ahead. Turning back to the book Hiro flipped towards the last page revealing more of the mysterious writing. However, oddly enough this page also had several symbols and markings on it that were different from the rest of the book. "Yeah, forgotten history," he continued answering Ikki's question, "For whatever reason it's something they didn't want the world to remember, however. But this last page is what I think is most interesting..." "The writing doesn't seem to be an incantation so it seems to be in the wrong section but it doesn't really discuss any historical events," Hiro explained as he proceeded to point at the odd markings, "And I'm really not sure what these are. They seem to be magical seals but they've not responded to any tests I've made and I've spent quite awhile researching and can't find anything similar." "And the text doesn't make anything more clear, here I'll read," Hiro continued as he began to translate the text on the page, "Alright... 'The flames of despair roared in all directions. Before my own eyes I saw all that I had worked towards and believed in destroyed forever. I was a fool. However you, noble reader, can avoid my faults. Hold steadfast the courage and determination I did not possess. Ye who read this correct my mistake.' See... the rest is pretty straight forward history textbook or a list of spells. Then there's this one page..." Hiro let his words trail off slowly wondering if anybody else had any kind of ideas while he himself mulled over the translation once more. He'd been wracking his brain since his initial translation but nothing really seemed clear. No other part in the book addressed the reader directly but it was clearly meant to be a part of the tome and wasn't a stray page from something else. It was a true mystery. |

"Ah, alright then." Tarin said. Hiro had called her out with an invitation, and she honestly couldn't really refuse since that would make her look rude. As she listened to Hiro continue droning on about the book, Tarin couldn't help but find her gaze drawn to the pages of alien text. The primal need to unlock the mysteries within was incredibly alluring, and her father did his best to foster that trait. After all, knowledge is power, and also the best weapon against supernatural threats. Egyptian was not one of Tarin's specialties, but figuring out things that were critical important was. "If you want my opinion." Tarin glanced at the page in question. "If you can't translate the same way as the rest of the book, that means it's in some sort of code. That means whatever is on that page is either very valuable, dangerous, or both." |

Meglumar opened the door to the book store, shaking his umbrella outside before closing it up. Today was quite the dreary day. While normally he liked rain, being part water nymph and all, today there was just something...bad in the rain. He did not know how else to describe the rain, other than that. In all honesty, he was trying his best to ignore it. As such, he had decided to go to the Bookstore in town. The various occult things were good for his attempts to try and become better at magic. The more he practiced, the more he gained in skill. Unfortunately his previous books were DESTROYED when one of the teachers ran them over in a car....while driving through a wall. Speaking of that incident he noticed Ikki was here. "Good Afternoon Ikki, Tsukasa-sensei, Morgan." He said recognizing those three. Morgan not so much, all he knew was what he had learned while playing in the band. There was another person here as well, someone who probably also worked in the store. It seemed to be a bit packed today. |

"You guys found a coded book? Awesome!" said Star, stepping in from the front entrance. She lowered her hand, the sheet of light that she had been using as an umbrella dissipating the moment she stepped indoors. She had been getting better at her photomancy control lately, even though she still wasn't at the level of someone like Damon. Using it for something like an umbrella was not something she would have done at night. At least now, even though the sun was covered in clouds, she could still recharge, albeit slowly. "What's it abo--Meglumar?" Star blinked, turning towards her boyfriend. It was Tarin's shift, technically, so he couldn't be in here to see her. She was only here because she had nothing better to do and she wanted to see if she could pester Tarin a little. Rainy days always made her bored, and slightly lazier than she normally was. She walked over to him. "What are you doing here?" she asked, leaning over and giving him a small kiss on the cheek. |

Ikki listened to Hiro with a great bit of passion in his eyes as he read the inscription. It had been awhile since he was this excited. But then again, the fact that he heard what the book said before his mother did, put an even greater sense of accomplishment in his heart. As Hiro finished Ikki looked up in time to see Meglumar come in. " Oh hey Meglu-" Ikki was cut off as Star walked in, as she did, his heart skipped a bit. His eyes locked onto her form with a silly love struck grin on his face. " Hey Star......" He said in a rather soft gentle tone. It had been awhile since he had seen her. Since the whole tower of Fang thing, he hadn't really been in the best of moods, but then again Hiro was safe, so that's all that really mattered. As he looked on something dawned on him. He had got Star something when they got back. " Hey Star! I got ya something!" Ikki said as he reached down to grab his bag. As he did, his hand gently brushed the book. The tome quickly reacted to Ikki by giving off a faint glow. As it did Ikki stopped going through his bag, as he sat upright looking at the symbol. His eyes slowly began to glaze over. As they did he began to speak as if possessed. " You have come...you the one with the blood of the ancients...you can set right what I have done...." Ikki said as the book gave off an intense glow as a powerful wind kicked up pushing the others back. Ikki's hand stretched out touching the seal,as he touched it, a strange light engulfed him, and like that in the blink of an eye he was gone. |

Tarin raised her head to take a look at the newcomer and wordlessly acknowledged his arrival. She didn't really know Meglumar too well. She would occasionally catch glimpses of him in the shop, but never really saw much of him outside of those circumstances. What couldn't have been barely seconds later, Star decided to walk in. Tarin however was not nearly as surprised by Star's arrival as Meglumar's. Like herself, Star would sometimes kill time at the store when she had nothing better to do, and mostly just pester her all day. However, she was a little interested when Star gave Meglumar a little kiss, not unlike the ones Ikki always tried to sneak on her. It was a little naive to think a girl like Star wasn't capable of being in some kind of romantic relationship, though. "Hi Star. As you can see, we haven't been having much luck in-" Tarin stopped when she saw Ikki getting an all too familiar blank look in his eyes. Before anybody could do anything, he was gone in flash of light. "Not again..." Tarin sighed and shook her head. Why did something weird always have to happen every single time they were together? |

"Ah!" Hiro exclaimed as everything got crazy but before he could even act Ikki vanished into thin air. Blinking his eyes in disbelief Hiro rubbed the back of his head slowly with a nervous laugh. This was certainly an unexpected but interesting turn of events. It seemed the book had more of a tie to Ikki than simply being the one who brought it in "Well," he continued in disbelief, "I uh... guess we know what the last page does now, right?" There was traces in the air of a powerful spell having been cast. Presumably, this meant it was inscribed on the page itself but set only to act when pre-selected conditions were met. Said condition being Ikki present and viewing the page; it seemed. "Blood of the ancient," Hiro repeated slowly before continuing, "Given what the page said and what Ikki said before vanishing... this is just a guess but I think he was taken inside the book or into the past. Hurm..." Shifting Hiro began to shove the nearest bookshelves back making more space before the front counter. "Everyone give me a hand here," Hiro called to the others, "I know a way we can cheat the system and follow. I don't like the idea of him being alone somewhere unknown and potentially dangerous." Ikki was in Arcadia. For all its members, the organization kept immaculately detailed information on each member especially regarding their physical and spiritual health. Even if the book only allowed those with the proper bloodline by they could use a different spell to follow after Ikki via Arcadia's data since every person's spirit carried a unique signature to it. |

Morgan smirked. Such was the danger of the supernatural, but at the same time a testament to its versatility and power. One really couldn't complain when someone screwing around with something so volatile was felled by his own stupidity. Even with the immense power Hiro suspected she had, Morgan had been extremely cautious about leaping into this metaphorical pool and not with Hiro's strict, direct guidance. Still, there were more important matters at hand, what with the store suddenly suffering from what appeared to be an afternoon rush. Technically the young butler didn't even work here, but that didn't mean she couldn't help out. In fact it felt rather wrong not to. Except in that guys case. "I suppose that's what he gets for calling me female as a means to insult me. And at the very least he got the knowledge he sought. That's a win for each of us I'd say." Morgan said callously, walking over to a stack of unshelved books and searching for their places on the bookcase. Of course she was forced to quickly set them down as Hiro, being ever the hero Hiro was, abruptly set his mind towards trying to find a way to follow him into the text. Now she was prone to getting pulled into a good book as much as the next person, but nothing about t his particular suggestion sat well with her. "We barely understand a thing about this text, how it works who its from or where it goes and you're already ready to dive in headfirst just to say the idiot who got himself stuck in it." Morgan pointed out in a more factual manner than a scolding one. Setting the books back carefully on the counter she sighed and folded her arms, a small smirk playing across her features as she seemed so unable to hold back. "That's just like you, sir." Her voiced cracked a little as she spoke, sounding a bit more feminine than intended. Granted going after him was something she would never do herself (short of it happening to her charge but even THAT was questionable) but it was what she loved about him. Er, admired about him. Morgan blushed a bit and cleared her throat, as it returned to its 'normal' octave. "By that I mean, you have my support. I may not care much for the boy, but I can't have you getting yourself caught up in some sort of fatally dangerous scenario again." |
