Adam sighed as he stood in front of the falls. Another day, another possibility of THEM ruining everything. Aside from the incident at the front gate, nothing else happened on that day. That was odd. They knew where he was, could easily get to him, and yet did nothing. "What's keeping them? Why haven't they come after me yet?" Adam sighed again and looked back towards the flowing water. He seriously hoped that the others wouldn't come. But after what they'd seen and done, there was no way that was going to happen. He looked over the Silver Grimoire. It had done nothing save for that shaking when he had taken it. Over the night he had remembered something about Arcanum. Something they were supposed to learn, but never got to. Because he had destroyed the facility. It didn't matter. What mattered now was finishing the job and taking Rath down. He knew he was still alive. There was no way they could have found him if he wasn't. So he was going to just tell the others what they needed to know, and come after the bastard and kill him. Simple as that. He took a deep breath. The place was saturated with Ether. The Fruit of Life and Scarlet could recharge in no time at all. Perfect place to have this talk really. In all the time it would take to explain everything, he'd be back up to full power. It was only a matter of time until they showed up. |

"Huh...So why did he want to have a talk in this place?..." Hikaru wondered to himself as he spotted Adam nearby the falls. He made his way through the remaining woods and went out into the clearing. "Hey Adam, I hope you're up to explaining what the hell happened yesterday." He said as he made his way near the falls, kneeled down and placed a finger in the water. "Oh, just a small question before we get started. Why did we have to have this talk all the way out here? Couldn't we have talked over someplace in the city or something?" Hikaru asked as he looked around the area. "I mean, aren't we kind of sitting ducks for your 'siblings'?" Hikaru asked as he remembered that Hei had mentioned that there were others like Gabriel and Michael. Letting out a small sigh as he stood up and faced Adam. "In any case, where are the others?" Hikaru wondered aloud as he walked away from Adam, making sure he was some distance away. "Hope you don't mind if I discharge here, my reserves are getting close to topping up. Dying isn't really on my list of priorities right now." Hikaru said before drawing a pentagram above him, and summoning a large lightning bolt from the sky, hitting Hikaru causing him to fall down to one knee. The bolt then traveled into the ground and dissipated into the air, taking the excess electricity in his body with it. "Ow...No matter how much I do this it still hurts like hell..." |

Hei walked through the trees, making his way toward the meeting place. The sound of the falls was growing louder as he approached, but before he was within sight from the meeting place, he stopped and waited. Moments later, a black cat dropped down from one of the trees and landed beside him. "Any news?" he asked. "Nothing. No one followed him home and no one else has shown up around here." Hei nodded, content with the report. "Go back to Huang and let him know, and make sure Yin keeps watching this place during the meeting." Nodding his ascent, Mao scurried off towards Hyakuji. With that taken care of, Hei continued walking towards the two that had already arrived, coming into view a few moments later, still dressed in unrelieved black and his signature mask. He stepped into the open area and glanced at the water. Unseen to the others, a small round apparition seemed to be sticking up from the water, ghostly blue-white. Yin was already keeping an eye on them, good. He turned his attention to the other two. "Where's the girl?" was all he said. |

The falls weren't unfamiliar territory for Chizu. She had come here to train many times in the past--the height allowed her to practice aeromancy fully, and the water was as much of a safety net as she was going to get. They were also in the forest, close enough to the Elemancer Castle that she didn't even need Doomtrain to get here. It was why she hadn't complained when Adam said he wanted to meet here. As far as things went, this was more or less on her terms. The wind whipped through the air as she landed smoothly on the ground from her jump, straightening up and walking over to the other three. She was dressed in a pair of jeans and a red shirt with two intersecting black lines. She ran a hand through her hair, pushing it out of her face as she walked over to Hikaru. She could still feel the lingering traces of electricity in the air from Hikaru's discharge. Electromancers. She frowned. Having just come from the Towers, Chizu had definitely had enough of sparks flying for one day. But that was beside the point. She had been thinking through the situation since yesterday. No conclusions she came to did anything to lessen the bad feeling she had about the whole thing. She gave Hikaru a nod of acknowledgment, then glanced once at Hei, her red eyes narrowing. "'The girl' has a name," she said. "Chizu Yamamura." She looked away from him, turning back towards Adam. "You better have a damn good explanation." |

"Glad you're all here. I chose this spot because it's out of the way, and it's saturated with enough energy for me to recharge." Adam looked up at the sky and took a deep breath. "I honestly never expected to have to deal with more of my kind. I figured that they'd be on the run just like me. But I guess they're not. Maybe they are, I don't know. What I do know is that they won't let me go so easily. Rath isn't one to give up that quickly." He narrowed his eyes. "I'll try and summarize the situation. Somewhere in the United States is a government shadow operation known as Nexus. They're working on augmenting humanity in any way they can. They commissioned a number of projects to that end. I'm a result of one of those projects, the Armagus Project. They took an alien device, implanted it in my chest, and now I can use it to alter my body to exceed normal human limitations. I happen to be implanted with the only copy of the device they had, so they used my blood on 5 other kids like me. All of us were taken for the project at an early age." He folded his arms, trying to keep calm. He couldn't keep his mind off of what he intended to do to Rath when he caught him. "We were trained to be living weapons, I think. I'm not too sure what the intent of the project was. But I wasn't going to stick around. I escaped, tried to take a friend with me, and when she died I went back to destroy that place. Yeah, I killed a lot of people. In retrospect, there really wasn't a need to, but I've never been good at dealing with anger. So anyway, I was sure that with the facility destroyed that would be the end of it. Apparently, that's not the case. Which can only mean that the director, Magnus Rath, is still out there and is continuing to use people as experiments." He gritted his teeth. "Rath is the reason I exist. He's the source of all my trouble. And the fact he's alive is not at all helping. For whatever reason, he's after me. Most likely to recover the device inside me. The guy may be old, he was around 50 when I was put into the project, but he's ruthless. And smart, I wouldn't be surprised if he figured out a way to alter the others." He sighed and took out the Scarlet Grimoire. It wasn't done charging, but it would have to do. "This is a Grimoire, a weapon designed for use with a specific wielder. Each one of us 'Angels' has one. Leech, Scarlet." The rod twisted and elongated, becoming the giant scythe it hid. "They haven't come after me again, yet. I'd like to take this time to get to know how each of you really fight. I'm not really much for team fighting, but even I'm not stupid enough to take on each of them by myself. You've decided to stick around despite the danger, and I need to know when and where I can count on each of you in battle. So, if you're up for it, show me what you got." He took a neutral stance. "Oh, but keep in mind that I'm just using the Grimoire and not my powers. They have a six hour cooldown, that's why." |

Hei chose to ignore Chizu's sarcastic remark and focused on Adam instead as he began his long exposition. It was a lengthy tale of how Adam came to be and who the ones they were fighting were. Nearly all of this was information Hei had already received from the Syndicate's informants, though there were a few details that they had missed or made errors on. For the most part it was simply a review. Once the lecture was over Adam pulled out his Grimoire and changed to a topic Hei was not terribly enthusiastic about. Teamwork. He had worked on a team before, but that was a long time ago. He had support now, but not when it came to combat. He was also hesitant to show off to many of his combat techniques to total strangers. For the moment he kept his concerns to himself, as he expected the other two would still have plenty of questions for Adam. |

"Whoa whoa whoa...So you mean to say that there's this underground government program where they experiment on humans to create weapons?" Hikaru asked to reaffirm what he had just heard. "Man...What have I gotten myself into?" Hikaru said as he ran a hand through his hair. "Oh well, no use crying over spilled milk, what's done is done." He said as he looked at Adam. "Wait...You said there were six of you in total right?" He asked as he found something odd about his story. "If that's the case then minus you and the one who died during your escape, there should be only four left in theory." He continued on as he paced around a little bit. "But what about those 'angels' we fought yesterday, you didn't seem to recognize them, how was Rath able to create more 'angels' if you destroyed the facility? Did he have some extra samples of your blood or something?" He asked as he stopped pacing around and placed his hands in his pockets. "Anyways, as you were saying. You wanted to gauge our abilities?" Hikaru said as he took off the necklace hanging around his neck and grasped it tightly in his hand. He held out his hand in front of him and materialized a large zankantou in his hand. He twirled the large blade around his head and held it out in front of him, pointing the tip at Adam. "So how shall we go about this? One-on-one or should we all go at you at once?" |

Chizu listened to Adam's story, a frown on her face. She didn't interrupt with questions, though, taking the information he gave her and absorbing it. This wasn't the first insane story she had heard since arriving at Hyakuji. But honestly? She thought she had just finished cleaning up her own mess. Now she had to deal with someone else's as well? And someone that she didn't even particularly like at that. That's what you get for playing the big damn hero... she thought to herself, and nearly winced as she remembered her performance from the day before. Three years at Hyakuji had taught her a lot, but apparently, they hadn't taught her how to mind her own damn business. Besides, while she didn't particularly like Adam very much, Hikaru was obviously in, and Hikaru was her friend. Chizu's morals had been questionable when she first arrived at Hyakuji. They weren't entirely questionable now. But one thing had always been there, another thing that hadn't changed in three years. Chizu's own personal code of ethics was still mostly the same as it had been, and "touch my friends and die" was still rather high on the list. Besides, any way she looked at it, she couldn't let an evil organization hellbent on using people as experiments loose on Hyakuji. ...The school could not afford any more damage incurred by students trying to "save" it. "Fine," she said. "I'm in. And you can't seriously want to take all three of us on at once." She had no problem with proving her worth, especially when it came to reminding Adam who was the Pro League Runner-up and who had been sent out in the first round. She had gotten into enough spars at the falls to know the area relatively well anyway. In fact, almost all her encounters at the falls had ended in a fight, except for one. Ironically, that was with Eiji Ishida. |

Adam frowned. He may really REALLY enjoy fighting as an Angel, but he wasn't stupid. His assurance that he could take all three of them was gone the instant he saw them, quite easily, kill another Angel. Then again he let himself get killed but that wasn't important. "I'd rather try you one-on-one. And no, I have no idea how Rath made more. He probably does have more samples. The guy made a point of having so many redundancies that they needed an entire room dedicated to them. That's probably how. I just didn't expect to see anymore given that the facility they used is completely trashed." Adam sighed. He gripped Scarlet's handle as hard as he could. He didn't expect to learn much. There was little chance he'd stand more than a few moments fighting against the others as a normal human. He thought about how this could have happened. That's what he got for not making sure the old bastard was really dead. Man was that mistake coming back to haunt him. No sense crying about it now. All he could do was try and see how the three of them, because he really didn't trust the guy in the mask, could handle this situation with as little collateral damage as possible. He frowned again. "This sucks. Having to care about the damage around me, trying to contain it and hoping that nothing bad happens is really not my specialty. Dammit. I really should've paid more attention when it came to strategics and battle planning. Oh well." He had to focus. The only way they would do this is if they worked together. He just had to push aside the thoughts of going lone wolf again. His human side knew that was suicide. His angel side couldn't disagree any more. Really, it was a wonder he stayed as sane as he was, he thought to himself. |

Chizu nodded at Adam's words. He wanted to try them one-on-one? She looked around at Hikaru and Hei. Whoever went first would probably have the hardest time of it, after the first try, Adam would be a little more tired. But if none of them wanted to step up, then she had no problem when it came to getting straight to the point. She turned towards Adam. "If that's the case," she said. "Let me go first." The wind rushed to her fingertips as she suddenly ran forward towards him, a blast of wind forming in the air around her and moving ahead of her, attempting to crash into him before she could even get there. |

Hei was unsurprised when Adam said he would fight them one on one. He would've had to be either suicidal or a lot dumber than he looked to try them all at once. He seemed to be contemplating the group assembled in front of him, his eyes lingering on Hei a bit longer. Also unsurprising, he didn't expect any of them to trust him at all. He was still a mystery to all of them. Even when he was at school, he had never even come into contact with any of them. However, that worked in his favor. The last thing he needed was some of the students learning who he was. Even when Adam stood ready to begin fighting, Hei stood back, opting to let one of the others go first. He wanted to see what the three others could do. Besides, he wanted them seeing as little of his fighting ability as possible. He also wanted to have something to report back to the Syndicate about the abilities of some of these students. |

"Huh...So all we need to do is basically take out the mastermind, is that what your trying to say?" Hikaru asked as he stabbed his large blade into the ground before taking a seat. Adam wasn't going to take them all at once, and Chizu had already taken the initiative to go first, so he would have to wait his turn. Hikaru let out a small sigh as Chizu made her first move. He wasn't exactly the epitome of confidence when it came to combat. He knew Chizu was much more experienced than he was and she was way more up there in terms of speed. As for Hei, he didn't know the masked man, but he could tell he was trained to kill, and his power was much more formidable compared to his own. He couldn't help but feel that out of the four of them, he was the weakest member in this small scale war. "Chizu has her speed and aeromancy...Hei has his assassination techniques and his electricity...What do I have?...I admit I have a way with swords, but these are skilled fighters we're up against, I don't have the kind of experience the others have...I can't exactly rely on my electromancy either..." Hikaru thought to himself as he watched the fight unfold. Doubt and uncertainty began to creep into Hikaru's thoughts. "Oi Hikaru! What the hell's with that kind of talk! I won't have it! You're stronger than you make yourself out to be, I wouldn't have you as a host if that were the case. Your father wasn't worthy enough to let me into his soul. In fact, none of your ancestors were. Out of your family, your power is closest to mine when I was still alive. You have potential, you just haven't awakened it yet." Kouki spoke out from deep in the recesses of Hikaru's mind. "Yeah yeah...Whatever Kouki..." |

"Not really. Kinda but still. Hang on." Adam shifted focus from answering Hikaru to defending against Chizu. He guessed that she would use the wind to her advantage. He had seen enough from the last battle to know that. So he raised Scarlet and swung to try and soften the force of the wind. "I may not have the full range of my strength, but I won't go down that easy. I'm more collected without the Fruit's influence." Adam gripped Scarlet's handle even more tightly, trying to stop the full swing. He was sure that he would need the flat of the edge to protect him. He stopped the arc of the swipe, and with great effort moved it to cover his front. Adam was fully focused on the fight. Nothing would break his concentration. He was going to give it his all, even if it wasn't a real fight. Just because it was meant to test how everyone fought didn't mean that he shouldn't fight with all his strength. |

The wind struck Scarlet, rippling around it and rushing past Adam on both sides. It wouldn't hurt him, although he would be able to hear it howling in his ears as the blast passed. Chizu had expected as much. Her eyes narrowed as she ran behind the blast, leaping into the air. The wind whipped around her as she was directly over Adam's head, pushing her downwards. She shot towards him from above, heading towards the top of his head. |

And just like that she was up in the air, ready to come crashing down on him. She moved quickly, much more quickly than what he was capable of even in Angel mode. "Tch! That's how it is then." Adam figured that she would go for a better angle of attack. He knew he couldn't turn Scarlet up over his head. "Smart. Know the enemy's limitations and you know how to defeat them without stressing yourself." Instead of that he tried to move out of the way by turning along Scarlet's grip. He'd follow up by pushing Scarlet in front of him to ram Chizu. That probably wouldn't work but he thought she wouldn't be expecting that. |
