Priscilla stood with her arms folded at the top of the temple steps, standing underneath the massive gate...a torii if she remembered what her mother and father had told her about Shinto temples. She wasn't exactly sure what she was doing here, actually, and any bystander could tell by the extremely puzzled look on her face. She had been intending to just take a walk around Hyakuji to get herself familiarized with the area. After all, it was going to be her home for the next...three years, so it was only common sense to know where all the important locations were. 'So why the hell am I here?' She had been walking by herself absentmindedly and simply felt...drawn to this place for some reason. The air was cleansing...fresh. 'Probably some sort of divinity's power? Who's this temple devoted to anyway? Not like I really believe in gods or anything, but who knows?' She took her first steps inside and immediately felt some sort of...she actually didn't know how to describe it. Her body felt lighter, definitely, but beyond that... 'Ow, son of a bitch!' There was a sudden stinging in her fingers and she saw small currents of electricity running through her hand. Scowling, she forced the lightning to stop. 'Tch...what the hell's going on? My powers don't just suddenly spring out like that unless I call upon them.' She remembered something like this happening back at her home. For some reason, there had been a small altar devoted to...Susano-o inside and whenever she had passed by that location, her powers would inexplicably flare up. It actually was a rather useful tool for learning how to control the storms and lightning, but both her mother and father never gave her an explanation as to why it happened. "You'll know when you're older." 'What the hell is that supposed to mean?' Priscilla sighed to herself. There weren't supposed to be secrets between parents and their children. 'Well...I guess I'll figure it out with time. There's really not much else to do, is there?' Sighing again and keeping a tight hold onto her powers, she wandered into the shrine. Now that she was here, she might as well make the best of it. What did one do in shrines anyway? Edited by Tythanin, Apr 9 2010, 08:14 PM.

The circumstances of Hyakuji’s supposed disappearance during the Kingdom Heart crisis was that everything stayed the same as it was before on the day it started. While it may be so for the city and the world it was in, those who were displaced went on with their lives briefly and when they all came back, it felt like years has passed for them while the city Hajime couldn’t possibly not relate with the others who shares those sentiments. It was probably even more so than them since he went through much of the crisis with an amnesia, which changes a lot of his perception of the reality he was from once he got his memories back. So, the first thing he felt he had to do to sort it out was go back out to the city he had not seen for a long time, armed with his DSLR camera to view and take pictures of people and places that he somehow felt alien of even though by all rights he shouldn’t. That was why he was at the shrine today, by himself, taking the scenery of the ancient shrine that stop atop the hill overlooking much of the Hyakuji sub-urbs where he lived. Here, he remembered, were the few places he can feel at peace and be alone for a while, aside from paying his respects to the pantheon of gods and spirits the shrine was dedicated too. Hajime re-appears again on the other side of the shrine after having went around to the back of it from the other side, taking shots of the shrine’s architecture and the surrounding forest as he did so. He then proceeded to try and take a shot of the shrine from the front until he saw a girl who was visibly sighing through his viewfinder, seemingly studying the place. “Is there something bothering you?” Hajime asks the girl after lowering his camera. |

“Is there something bothering you?” "Huh?" Priscilla blinked at the stranger, giving him a quick look over. He looked young, but he was tall. Probably at least...4 inches taller than her, if she had to guess. He was dressed casual and looked rather normal and...she didn't want to say average, but that's really how it was. He did have a nice-looking camera with him though. 'Some sort of reporter or something?' "Oh, no, just thinking to myself." She gave the stranger a reassuring smile, some of her American accent leaking into her words. "I've just moved to Hyakuji, so I'm getting the lay of the land as it were. I've never been to a shrine like this before...there really weren't places like this from where I'm from." She scratched her chin, looking thoughtful. "My parents told me there was some sort of ritual that you're supposed to do when you enter a shrine? I don't suppose there's like an instruction manual for that anyway...even if it's my first time, I better do this right, you know?" "Oh! Right! I haven't even introduced myself yet. Priscilla Yamamoto. You can...call me Pringer, if the name's too hard. My roommate gave the nickname to me." She explained, holding out a hand to shake. "It's nice to meet you." |

“Hajime Go.” Hajime replied, taking her out-stretched hand and shaking but making no comment on her nickname given to her by her roommate, not that that was the first time he had heard of such occurrences anyway. “I’m from around here, lived in this city all my life so I know quite a lot about it. If you have any questions about the place, you can ask me.” Hajime turns to look at the shrine, pondering for a bit on her current question on the things people normally do here at the shrine. “Well, the shrine is dedicated to a pantheon of general gods and spirits in an around Hyakuji. People usually come here to pay respect to all or one of them. You donate a certain amount of money into the donation box there, and pull the cord to ring the bell before you can pray to the gods and spirits.” Hajime explained as briefly as possible, while pointing to the aforementioned donation box and ringing cord. "You can try it now if you want, it's always a good idea to do so when you first come here anyway. Maybe pray and ask for their protection while you're here, 'cause if this city is anything to go by, you'd probably need it." Hajime said, turning to Priscilla with an assuring grin. |

"I need the gods' protection? Are there a lot of criminals in Hyakuji or something? Or is this like the Tornado Alley of Japan?" Priscilla asked, half joking. "Or maybe you have evil magicians like in Harry Potter and they have a secret society within the town that hunt muggles? Or maybe all the anime about Japan is true and you have magical girls walking the streets?" She laughed and shrugged. "I don't know, this place looks really peaceful so far. I don't think I'll be in any danger while studying here, but I guess I'll donate anyway. Best to keep whatever gods there are on my good side, right?" She walked towards the donation box, digging inside her purse for her wallet. She pursed her lips as she looked at the bills inside. A fourth of it was full of one of every US dollar (nostalgia value) while the rest was a variety of Japanese bills and coins. 'Hmm...how much should I donate? 500 yen, 1000 yen? Do they have a special service for big donators or something? Maybe like a 10,000 yen service? Naaaah...' Taking out a 1000 yen bill, she dropped it into the donation box before ringing the bell several times. Afterwards, she pressed the palms of her hands together and bowed her head slightly as she thought of something to pray for. 'Uh...Japanese Shinto gods. Please uh...watch over me and don't let me die in some sort of freak accident. Thanks.' She turned and walked back to Hajime, smiling a bit. "Was that okay...Go-san, is it? I'm not really used to Japanese honorifics..." |

“Trust me, the city doesn’t stay that way for long.” Hajime warned her jokingly, albeit meaning every word of it. “Things can happen at the inopportune moments but don’t worry, you’ll get use to it like the rest of us here.” Hajime watches quietly as Priscilla does as he had instructed earlier, albeit being rather generous with her donation which Hajime kept quiet and just took a shot of the scene with his camera; it would be bad form to suddenly skimp on it the moment you already pull the money out of the wallet. And who knows, they might curse her instead or something, not that he actually believe any of that of course. “Yeah, that’ll do. I’m sure the gods and spirits will spend some extra eyes on you.” Hajime replied after she was done. “And 'Go-san' is fine, though you can just call me Hajime. My family’s a bit famous around here so when you refer to a Go, you refer to all of us. Better just call me by my given name to make things easier.” He explained with a smile. “Now that you’re done, what are you going to do know?” Hajime then asks her. |

Curiousity was Erin's middle name. Actaully, it wasn't; he didn't have a middle name, or even a last name, for that matter. He was Erin- just Erin. No more, no less. He'd always known that; somehow. It came to him as naturally as breathing. It was the one thing he remembered from a past he couldn't. And that awful sensation of forgetting swelled up in him again. Shaking away his bad thoughts, Erin approached the two humans, as silent as could be. His feet hit the ground and crossed over dried leaves and twigs without making a noise. His breath was low, virtually undectable. ANd his movements bore stealth so perfect, it didn't belonged to a human. Just as well. Erin wasn't human. He was a wolf. ...A baby one, at that, but a wolf nonetheless. His white fleece might have stood out against the dense, dark green foliage of the forest, but if he wanted to, he was sure he could completely disappear. But that wasn't what he was doing now. Erin trotted his way towards this strange building in the middle of the forest, not knowing what exactly it was. The sound of ringing bells had piqued his curiousity, and there he was. There were two humans there, which did put him slightly on guard- stealing food from the marketplace hadn't exactly allowed him a good impression when they were either chasing, screaming or beating him down- but he was willing to take the risk. Curiousity killed the cat, after all- but not a wolf. Perhaps. Speaking of cats, Erin's juvenile size made him smaller than some big kitties out there, he was but a pup. He couldn't even eat much but berries and fruit yet, though the occasional scrap of meat from the market didn't hurt. His tail didn't wag excitedly like a dog, but swished from side to side with a grace, following his movements, and his eyes were a full abino pink, matching his snowy fur. Padded paws made their way quietly over to the shrine area, and as Erin looked at the giant statue within, a strange feeling overcame him. What was it? Longing? Detest? Either way, it irritated him. He took a step back- and forgot caution. A twig cracked, and in the silence of the melacholic forest, it was like blasting a trumpet to announce his presence. |

Priscilla smiled and nodded. Hajime seemed like a very nice guy, one she was happy to meet here in this unfamiliar city. His family was famous too, apparently. She wondered what for, though...maybe she should ask? She decided against it...it might be something private. 'I'll probably learn about it later anyway somehow.' "Then Hajime it is." She said with another firm nod. "As for what I'm going to do next...no clue, really. I guess continue to explore Hyakuji? There's still way more places I haven't seen yet, after all. So far it's just been the dorms, Subarashii Restaurant, and here." She smirked a bit, putting her hands on her hips. "If you're offering your services as a tour guide, I'd be glad to accept." She didn't have a chance to say any more as a rather loud branch cracked from somewhere around her and she turned to look at the source of the noise. She blinked a bit at the...white-furred dog? Wolf? One of those things. It walked on four legs and looked like a dog or wolf, so that was good enough. She pointed at it with a finger, her lips twisted in a disbelieving smile. "I don't suppose my donation called up an albino dog or wolf? Are there any Shinto gods known for that? There was Okami but that was a game..." Edited by Tythanin, Apr 13 2010, 01:57 AM.

“Well, I don’t mind showing you around; I’ve done a few guided tour myself free of charge.” Hajime replied with a grin. “I guess the first thing you’ll like to see is a good view of the city from a high vantage point. I always recommend it, and I happen to know a good place too.” Before she could answer to his offer though, a white furball of a wolf or dog suddenly appeared between them, looking all odd and somewhat out of place for one, besides being surprisingly sudden. If there was something he learned from living in this city for eighteen years, is that if a strange animal shows up, then you can bet something good or bad will happen. Usually, it mostly leans to the bad one, from Hajime’s experience with the feral wolf last time. “I’m not sure…” Hajime commented warily, eyeing the puppy. “The gods aren’t that responsive this fast most of the time…” Hajime said, racking his brain for a particular god or spirits among the pantheon that brings about this turn of events. |

It seemed the game was up. The humans had seen him; and that was nearly never a good thing. Still, these two looked younger than most of the others he had seen, and... well, for now, they looked more confused than anything, even after they ahd gotten over the initial suprise of seeing the young pup. It was as if they didn't know what to make of him. Giving a small bark, which amounted to so much as a yip, Erin stayed his place and regarded them for a moment longer. The male had short, well-trimmed hair, tall and and sort-of lanky, of average build. His eyes flickered breifly with suspicion- perhaps he had bad affinity with wolves like Erin? The girl looked younger, her dark auburn hair falling to a good length, looking slightly jazzy even in her current attire. She dressed much more catchily than the boy, and was evidently good with it. The half-smile that tugged on her face was no indication that she meant no harm, but it did loosen Erin enough to lower some of his guard. One thing the two most intrepridly different individuals shared in common- they smelt of Power. It radiated from them, in waves- more so strongly from the boy than the lass. Erin wrinkled his nose and sniffed some more. He was hungry- starving, even- but that served more as a warning signal tahn anything now. Moving suddenly, he bounded past the two and itno the shrine, climbing the dusty statues within niftily, settling upon the golden head and looking down at the two from above. Once more, it gave a cute bark, then swished its tail coolly around it. |

There was a moment of silence as Priscilla wracked her brain for some explanation as to the...wolf's existence. She folded her arms, looking up at the sky as if it would give her some hint as to what was going on. Instead, the sky remained in its placid light-blue state, clouds slowly drifting through the air and looking like massive puffy marshmellows. 'Dammit, not a single piece of inspiration. Maybe it really is like Okami and that's the goddess Amaterasu? It wouldn't be that surprising...after all, Mitsuki said she had a giant robot that her grandpa built her. Apparently this is common or something.' She was about to say something when the wolf suddenly darted past them and deeper into the shrine. The animal stopped on the head of one of the statues and looked down on them, its white tail waving in the air. One bark later and it appeared that the wolf was finished. Priscilla blinked a couple of times, covering her mouth as she began to giggle. "That's...that's actually kind of cute. I don't think it means any harm, Hajime. Maybe the gods really sent it to...I dunno, guard the shrine? That could be why it was hanging around here in the first place." She said, still smiling. "So, where's this vantage point you were talking about?" Edited by Tythanin, Apr 15 2010, 12:12 PM.

If there was anything wrong with the little wolf puppy at all, it didn’t seemed inclined to show it right away in front of them, or maybe it was just a normal puppy that just happened to lose its mother somewhere. Who knows, but before he could come up with more unnecessary questions about it, the puppy sprinted towards the shrine and climbed on top of a statue and looked down on them, which in all honesty, is a funny sight, and while he couldn’t help but grin and chuckle, Priscilla beside him was giggling. “Well, it’s the Hyakuji Tower really in downtown, I’m sure you can’t miss it wherever you are in this city. You know, the tower-that-isn’t-realy-tokyo-tower-honest. I can take you there right now even, since there might not be too many people going up there right now. How about it?” |

"Hyakuji Tower? I think I saw that in the distance..." She grinned at Hajime's description of the place, nodding. Her red eyes shone with laughter and she folded her arms, looking at the plain-dressed man with a semi-eager look. "I see, I see. Well, if you think there won't be many people there, let's go. I hope it's not too much out of the way, though. I'd hate to take up too much of your time." She spins on her feet and begins walking towards the stairs that lead out of the shrine. "Well then, let's go! Time for the Hyakuji City Tour, courtesy of Hajime Go!" She grinned. This was rather fun. |
